What is this? We had a fan ask if we could make one. Is it just extra money, same benefits but you get your name at the end of videos?

Is there any interest in this? First I've heard of it

This is like where creators put “credits” at the end of their videos with the names of people who pay extra for it. I would be interested if you eventually decide to go that route. If not no worries.

I personally pay creators as much as I can and depending on how much their channel means to me (in one case $50 instead of $5 per month for way more than a year now with no shout out) but if people like to see their name on YT and are willing to pay for that, why not? Nobody gets hurt and it benefits your channel which is good for all of us in the end! ;)

btw, sorry if my answer sounded condescending in any way, it was absolutely not meant like that. :)

I've certainly seen it in other patreons. It's just not something that I've been interested in doing because for that extra $5, I can usually support someone else- and I don't have a lot of extra $$ to spare!

There is such a range for getting a shout out! I've seen anywhere from it taking your monthly fee from $5 to $10 to the shout-out being just as high as you said. But it's worth just as high as people are willing to pay for it! And, of course, it's worth how much people value the creators.

You can have those (and some), if you want. It's something like that 👉 https://youtu.be/NxwidjWJxAc?t=31m14s or like that 👉 https://youtu.be/pJmSl148p_I?t=12m7s and/or like that 👉 https://youtu.be/n5omwqKhqUg?t=12m20s (watch to the end). You could also have Q&A or AMA YouTube livestreams with super chats to read while people talk and ask you about this or that. And/or about movies and series. Like here 👉 https://youtu.be/k8mKEMroSI8?t=30m34s (see the live chat tab).
