Bacchanalia basically means a wild gathering or drunken revelry. It is derived from the Roman god Bacchus. Pretty much the opposite of peace on earth, hence the joke which I find pretty funny.

So I've watched this movie every single Christmas day since I was 15. It's always had a special place in my heart. I have a smile on my face the entire time watching, aside from two scenes - when Ralphie's mom covers for him and when his dad gives him the rifle. This year, I got to watch it with you!
