TASKMASTER - S3 E2 - The Dong And The Gong

Comments

hasty rewrite

I don't like the design of the "surprise Alex" task, because having Alex walk out of the shed into a situation in which he knows they're going to try and surprise him ensures that Alex is going to *expect* exactly that, so it's almost impossible for him to experience *genuine* surprise. I feel like the task would have worked better with less limitations on time and physical location eg if it had been something like "surprise Alex some time between now and the studio recording" which would have given them months to surprise him in any location in any way they liked (they would have had to have filmed it though obviously). That could have made for more creative ideas and actual, *genuine* surprise from Alex.

Squeesher

After being frozen since Friday (-20C to -30C over the past couple days, wind chill in the -35C to -50C range...ugh) a new TM reaction should bring a little warmth. Thanks!

Mandy Cane Lane

100% agree! It wasn't well thought out! 'Surprise Alex, you have ten weeks' would have been really great!

Mandy Cane Lane

Oh no! Here we have been having a heat wave. It just calmed down 2 days ago after some rain. This planet is all over the place! 😅 Hope the weather picks up for a happier Squeesher! 🌈🌻

DracoMint

Watermelon is great! I'd be happy to win it and that snake turned out to be pretty cute! The rest would go in the trash.

Joe McGuire

Honestly I have no idea when Escape Rooms became a thing, but I feel like this season was filmed before they were a thing?

TrickUpMySteve

"It doesn't look like him, it looks like the idea of him" is going straight in the book of Mandy quotes

TrickUpMySteve

Also, a fun little game I like to play is "guess who said the title" you are welcome to use it, for the low price of just $49.99 per month!

Mandy Cane Lane

I would question the freshness of that watermelon! 🤪😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Glad I am not the only one that sees it! 🙌🏻🤗🤪

Mandy Cane Lane

Hahahhaha, that actually sounds like a Karl quote 🤪🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

Oh! That is fun! Bit pricey though! May I have the first month free? You know, as a test run. 🤪🤗

KR89

Feel the need to point out.. The goal of the prize task is not to have 5 things fun to win.. it’s another unique task that can be interpreted in many ways. Some people go for the joke 🤷‍♀️ - completely arbitrary how Greg decides. Maybe he’s grumpy on filming day!

Mandy Cane Lane

Haha, but I would ve less motivated to win if all the prizes are trash 🤪😅

GrandLineReview

The Ryan and Colin dynamic is definitely there. You can tell that Greg is Ryan and Alex is Colin as well, haha. Like when they used to have to fill time playing Greatest Hits or something.

DracoMint

That book is too heavy for me :P

Conor Murphy

But then you might not win his big golden head at the end of the series!

Woody Barrelson

I would have set up a picnic on the lawn with all of Alex's favourite foods and maybe his wife and kids too. That would be doubly surprising because he wouldn't be expecting a pleasant surprise. Regarding your "unhelpful" escape room friend. You should never be so quick to dismiss anyone's input, even a broken clock is correct twice a day... and you'd know all about that wouldn't you Miss Mandy. See what I did there 😉 🤣

Mandy Cane Lane

Lmao!! I do see what you did there!! And I agree, no one thought of a pleasant surprise (myself included) but that would have been a great approach!!

Mandy Cane Lane

I have so much to watch! Thank god I am relatively young! 🤪🤣

Josh

Might just be me but the trophy looks more like jack dee if youve seen him

Graham

I can’t imagine trying to watch a comedy show and getting so annoyed so often, whether it be about the scoring, the efforts or anything else. But we all consume things differently. All good.

Mandy Cane Lane

Lol! Getting annoyed when one doesn't know the outcome is a huge part of several viewing experiences. Any contestant show or sport event comes to mind. And the news 🤪🤗
