The Moaning Of Life - S2 E1 - Happiness

S1 E2 isn't it? You gotta stop scheduling uploads when you're super tired, or at least typing your title then 😝

Mandy Cane Lane

Oops. 🙈 Fixed it. When I am tired is the only moment I have time 😅😅 Thank you Nathan 🤗

Squeesher

aw, *pats* poor, tired goat-lady, maa-a-a 🐐

Tithonus

The person you were asking about at the end is not the cameraman, it's Benjamin Green. He is the Series Producer (his name is at the end of the credits) and was a producer on Idiot Abroad. I think KP mentions his name "Ben" during this episode.

Balkyne

Whilst I get it to an extent, I think the 'being mad that other people are happy' thing is very much a Karl problem xD

I'm not a lady, so am happy to say the word you mistakenly read in the subtitles was probably anus. 🤪 And it wouldn't be the first time this mistake has been made! A few years ago, they ran into an issue with the optical recognition software used to scan real books into digital copies. With certain old fonts, the software invariably read "arms" as "anus", resulting in some very amusing passages (no pun intended). Here are some of the best: "Mrs. Tipton went over to him and put her anus around his neck. " My dear," she said, rapturously. " I have been hoping for years that you would talk that way to me." From the title Matisse on the Loose: "When she spotted me, she flung her anus high in the air and kept them up until she reached me. 'Matisse. Oh boy!' she said. She grabbed my anus and positioned my body in the direction of the east gallery and we started walking." Also: "Mrs, Nevile, in exquisite emotion, threw her anus around the neck of Caroline, pressed Her with fervour to her breast". And '"Bertie, dear Bertie, will you not say good night to me" pleaded the sweet, voice of Minnie Hamilton, as she wound her anus affectionately around her brother's neck. "No," he replied angrily, pushing her away from him."' Well, wouldn't you? Have you ever flung your anus in the air with happiness Mandy? 🤣

I'm not Mandy, but yes. 👀 These sound like they're from some smutty books even without the funny wordplay, lol

What makes me happy Mandy? Love makes me happy. Laughter makes me happy. Furry animals make me happy. Being creative makes me happy. I’ve had many creative periods in my life; I’ve been an artist, a poet, and a writer. Getting it right to the point that people tell me my work has changed their life is very rewarding and makes me happy. I used to find great happiness in music, TV, movies and video games, but as I’ve gotten older (I’m 44 now), I’ve found that my tastes for those things has remained largely in the past. Not only that, but having experienced my favourites over and over, happiness is something of a diminishing return. It’s still there, but not as potent. I’ve found the best way to recapture that spike of joy as it was the very first time, is to experience it vicariously. This is almost certainly why reaction channels have become so popular. When you find a reactor you love, one that you feel a kinship with, a strong bond to, one that seems to be in perfect alignment with your likes and dislikes, it’s a potential goldmine for personal happiness, derived from, and layered upon, vicarious happiness. A double shot of serotonin. So this is where you come in Mandy. You are my favourite reactor among the scores that I subscribe to. We have amazingly similar tastes. I love cats more than anything, Bob Mortimer, Karl Pilkington. I love comedy. I love black metal, and metal in general. Cradle of Filth is one of my favourite bands. I love video games, especially the sixth and seventh generations (Dreamcast, Xbox, PS2 to PS3, 360, Gamecube, Wii). Soul Calibur is one of my favourite franchises. Devil May Cry too. I love anything with style and a dark edge it seems. I even love stripy socks. My socks right now are back and white stripes with a cyan toe and heel, and made of slinky, silky bamboo. Highly recommended! I love everything about you. You’re fun, funny, smart, relatable, extremely easy to look at 😍, and I love your reactions because I know if I love something, it’s highly likely that you will too, and my happiness will be magnified. I have a limited budget for such frivolities as entertainment. I only allow myself about £10 a month in fact. So my choice is Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify, et al… or being one of your stars. And I choose you. For all the above that I have said, you. You are perfect and wonderful. And you make me happy. 🥰🤗🌈

Mandy Cane Lane

Ohhhh! Your 'detailing cars' sounds like puzzles to me! I find them so relaxing! I feel like there might be a more vocal activity that might make you happy as well! 🤪 Haha. Anyway, thank you so much Rusty. I am extremely honoured! 🤗🤗🤗

Mandy Cane Lane

OMFGGGGG!!! The first one made me laugh so hard a coworker asked if I was OK!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can not thank you enough Tony for sharing these masterpieces of literature! 🙌🏻🤗⭐️ P.S. No, I have never done that 😅😅😅

Mandy Cane Lane

Wow. You are an amazing writer. You went from getting me to tear up from laughter at work with your previous comment to tearing up on a whole different level. I am beyond touched and thank you so very much for everything. 🥹 Your words, support and help is so deeply appreciated. 🌈🌻🫶🏻 Very cool that we have so much in common. What kind of things do you write Tony?

Mandy Cane Lane

I meant that Puzzles were therapeutic to me as you said detailing was to you 🤭

So glad you’re seeing happy Karl. It’s wonderful. I love that he doesn’t judge, denials life isn’t for him but he doesn’t call him mental or think he’s lying, he just accepts him. He’s a really kind person when he’s not being prodded. For me happiness is cooking. It’s how I’m creative, and I love sharing it with people. I’m a chef and I always remember something my first head chef told me. He said that for some of our customers it might be the only time this month they can afford to eat out. So we do our best on every plate and make sure they enjoy their experience. It’s an incredibly stressful job. But the best part is sitting down in the restaurant after a shift and having a beer and watching people eat and enjoy what you’ve just made them. It always makes the hard work worth it. That and solitude. I love being alone, having a smoke, eating and watching something that makes me laugh. Also I’ve recently become an aunt for the first time and sitting with my niece and pulling faces and feeding her and burping her was just magical, my sister lives down south, I’m in Yorkshire, so I won’t get to see the baby much, but I’m going to enjoy every second I get to spend with her. She’s the best.

Squeesher

Did you grow up in Yorkshire or just live there now? I watch a Twitch streamer called Bouphe who was born and grew up in Yorkshire, and I love listening to her tell stories because of my love of that particular accent! :) I'm also with you on the solitude thing. I hermit more than most, but I enjoy the quiet, so it would be hard to be any other way.

Tony Mingoia

Oh, Mandy did. I must've posted this as an original comment, not a reply 😅. It happens when I use the phone app. Will delete.

Tony Mingoia

I'm a ghost writer for now, but will be striking out my own soon I hope, writing what I want to write, which is broadly philosophical and socio-political. In a nutshell, I want to combat political extremism on both sides and defend personal liberty.

SynphamyMusic

The goat feinting thing isn't a defense mechanism, it's a congenital disease that's bred into them... as pets and livestock it's harder for them to escape enclosures. Also farmers use them by putting them in with a herd of sheep, they'll feint and be easy prey for predators while the sheep can flee. It's sadly another case of humans breeding a cruel defect into an animal for our own pleasure and amusement, like white tigers & pug dogs. As for happiness... Music, making it, playing it, i've put a lot of my life into it, i just think it's the closest thing to magic. How a certain chord or instrument can conjure powerful emotions, memories, in movies & TV it can help you feel how a character feels. It can make you feel uneasy or it can soothe the soul. I think silence counts too! There are moments where it's perfect just the same. Anyhoo, great video!!

Squeesher

At times in my life, my only reason to live was to hear more music. I'm very grateful to it!

Mandy Cane Lane

Ahh, you chose some great stuff! Cooking is awesome and I love the way you talked about it. What is one of your favorite things to cook/make? // Also having a niece/nephew really is magical. So glad you get to experience being an aunt! That is one of my favorite things in life! 🙌🏻

Mandy Cane Lane

OMG!!! SO with you on music being like magic! I share your musical passion, just not the ability for making it... yet! Haha // And, I had no idea about that with the fainting goats. Am I too a product of terrible breeding? 😰 -- Nobody answer that.

Mandy Cane Lane

Well best of luck to you friend! I have a feeling you got this and will be where you hope to be in no time! 🤗🙌🏻

SynphamyMusic

Dude you're such a great singer from what I've seen on YouTube, interesting song choices, turning toxicity into a ballad? I would never expect that to work but it's gorgeous! I'd totally pay for a vocal track if that's something you'd ever consider. There are a couple of specific singers on YouTube I've been thinking about trying to hire eventually because I think a female voice would suit better. I make synthwave-80s-rock/metal type stuff along the lines of bands like Gunship, the midnight, carpenter brut, dance with the dead if you've ever heard of any of those. My weak spot is writing lyrics though lol, I have so many songs just sitting on my computer without any vocals and it stops me putting any of it out there.

Danny

I think if I was Karl, I'd have bought that guy at the end a pop up tent so atleast he had a better place to stay

Danny

I would say I am happy making others happy. I enjoy giving gifts, as I make the effort to go out the way to find things I know they'd like. I like to find new places to eat or go on a day out that I think others would enjoy. or maybe finding a recipe to make something I think others enjoy. or finding a series/movie to watch with someone that I think theyd like too. I dunno if things I like to do as a pass time count as making me happy, more I just enjoy them.

Mandy Cane Lane

Ohhh good answer! Same Danny! I love giving little gifts 🤭🤗
