Apologies for the delay. At the time of this update, the YouTube link is still in SD (Standard Definition). The HD version will be available shortly.

Monaf

was really hoping you guys would watch this instead of jumping into S2, adds a lot to Levi's and Erwin's character development.

adam john peters

Also just so you know the ovas no regrets are episode that aired during the 4 year gap for season 2 basically bonus episodes

Butthats

In Japan, they did multiple Character Popularity Polls and Levi consistently ranked number 1, above the three main characters, so it makes sense that we get these OVAs of him. I personally like Hange the most and I would watch the crap out of OVAs about their origin story too haha.

Graham F

the INTRO LOL

DustinEatWorld

Shout out to Levi’s voice actor in this episode 🤟🙏

wanira 11

Man the rage scene still really gets me in the feels

Jonas Teigen

Looking forward to season 2! next week?

Iced Macchiato

Please watch Ilse’s notebook (its the first OVA in the crunchyroll list) before season 2 episode 2. Also, the rest of the other OVAs are optional for you to learn and understand about the other characters. DO NOT watch the lost girls OVA as some scenes contain major spoilers for future seasons. Lastly, I recommend watching Attack on titan in 9 minutes by Gigguk in YT. It would be a good palate cleanser before season 2.

Ginzo

Also, no matter how much some people may pressure you, remember that the OVA and other side stuff is optional. I watched all seasons of Attack on Titan without watching any of the side stuff and still enjoyed and understood the show. I'll be watching No Regrets for the first time today to watch along with you guys.

Elizabeth Green

Mason Quinn, the character in the intro with the red hair and glasses that you asked “who is that” is Hange. The scout regiment scientist, she’s the one obsessed with the titans and learning about them.

I actually didn’t like Ilse’s Notebook because it felt like it spoiled a big surprise of season 2, episode 1.

Harlee M

I’m always surprised the scouts didn’t start recruiting from the underground.

congeries

I love the OVA but here is the speach Erwin gave Levi in the Manga (and i think its so much more impactful): “Who was it who killed my subordinates? Killed your friends? Was it me? Or was it you? It’s the titans! Where did they come from? Why do they exist? Why do they kill humans? I don’t have the answers. None of us do. Limited by our ignorance, we’ll continue to be devoured by the titans! If we just stay shut behind the walls, we are never going to escape this nightmare. Take a good look around you! No matter how far you go, there aren’t any walls here. In this open space, I believe there is something there, illuminating our despair. But there are those who seek to prevent us from venturing beyond the walls. They are consumed by selfish thoughts of their own losses and gains from behind the walls where they are safe! It’s only natural. During the past 100 years, hindered by the walls, the eyes of humanity have been clouded. They cannot see the landscape that lies on the other side. But what about you, Levi? Will you let your eyes remain clouded? Will you kill me and return to the darkness of the underground? We will not give up our journey outside the walls. Humanity needs your strength! So fight for the Survey Corps, Levi! I’m not making a deal with you this time."

congeries
>>134637584

Doesnt it make more sense to watch it AFTER 2x01 and before 2x02? I can imagine if you watch Ilses Notebook before, it spoils one thing in 2x01

Jess

Can I just say it's so much fun re-watching the series with this channel? Corny, I know. Even though I've seen it and I've watched a lot of other people react to/discuss the show, it just never gets old when you find an engaging group. I'm having a grand time watching along, thanks guys!

congeries
>>134633087

I read somewhere that there will be a 2 episode OVA about hanges time before the scouts. Not sure its true but i hope so!

Ushna Seeam

I actually watched No Regrets after I had finished season 4 😒 and let me tell you: I have regrets. I wish I had watched it right after season 1 like you guys did, it would have given me an even greater appreciation of Levi's character. My heart absolutely broke for him in this OVA, he's got such a tragic backstory. And that damn song! 😭 I listen to the AOT soundtrack regularly while driving, and whenever So ist es immer comes on, I feel like weeping. Great reaction as always. 👍🏼❤️

Gabriel P.

It is very tough for me to declare the No Regrets OVAs within my top 10 favorite episodes because there are so many insane episodes in the later seasons, but they are definitely top 15 and my favorite content from S1. They managed to make me appreciate Levi’s character and several moments with him throughout the seasons so much more to the point he is probably within my top 3. This episode in particular was pretty much a parallel to Eren during the forest, having to make the choice between trusting himself or his comrades. In both instances they chose “wrong”, leading to the death of people they cared for. These type of choices have profound impacts to their characters. Something to note: The Scout Regiment commander at this time is not Erwin, he is still only a squad leader. The commander is the same guy that we saw in the first episode, the one that presented the soldier’s arm to the mother. But you can clearly see how Erwin is slowly getting to that position.

Kyle Faulconer

Love to see the OVAs, but when you will watch them is pretty important. The 2nd and 3rd (the sudden visitor and distress) are good to watch now. As for the others, being 1, 6, 7, and 8, I would wait till after season 2 to watch those. If you are gonna do the 2 episode groupings like you have, I would suggest 6 and 7, then 8 and 1. Either way, looking forward to more content soon!

Gabriel P.
>>134639982

I watched them after S3, and I agree. They make you understand Levi much better.

Mr.Atkins

Excellent reaction as usual guys! Are you going to do the ova illsa’s notebook too? It’s good to watch it right before season 2 episode 1. You can pair them together.

Elizabeth Green
>>134639237

Yeah I think he did too but to be fair her face is half covered so it’s understandable too.

Jess
>>134639982

Agreed, anime has some of the best soundtracks. 😎

Enchiladas

So will next week be 2x1 and Ilse's Notebook? Or just 2x1 and 2x2

Gabriel P.

Regarding Ilse’s Notebook, there is obviously disagreement as to when to watch it. In my opinion it can be watched at any time after S1 and before S3. Personally, I wouldnt watch it within S2 to let S2’s story play out without interruptions. I’m leaning more for watching it after S2 as it would please more people.

Enchiladas
>>134642027

Why? They're not gonna find it funny. There's so many inside jokes in it from other anime that they won't get

Jessica Tisdale
>>134639023

Fr. I honestly think the OVAs made it less enjoyable cuz it didn’t add anything to the experience. But people on here are just pushing them for no reason. I just want them to stay season 2😭

szeth

This episode goes craaaazy on the rewatch

Stephanie Soucek

Curious to know who your guys' favorite characters are so far!! Really enjoying this watch along with ya'll :)

Jessica Tisdale
>>134642214

I just don’t care for the OVAs. It took a lot to get me to watch this one but in the end i did cuz it’s my Monday night ritual lol

hex1c

Well done, "Bros" :P Looking forward to reaction of Season 2! HYPE!

Aaron Yin

Also to add to Mason Quinn's point, a lot of the emotions portrayed in anime is by the voice acting. People don't pick this up when they are just starting to watch anime, but the jp voice actors are in a league of their own, and in AoT they have some of the best voice actors in the industry.

Isabel Schertel

What Erwin said to Levi about not starting to regret his decisions stuck with him and when I heard Levi say it to Eren in s1, it stuck with me too, because I really needed to hear that during that time of my life. These two characters are in my top 5 favorite aot characters, can't wait til you learn more about Erwin ❤️

Feli Moon

I have one of these jackets and I would love to wear it on a daily basis. 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for your reaction. Levi's story is heartbreaking. Don't forget.... he lost his whole squad to Annie in the forest and that hits even harder after watching 'No regrets'.

Flower-in-The-Night

No spoilers: The character in the intro who is covered in blood is Armin. This scene is only in this intro, not in the show. It shows you how Armin, despite all the horror around him, can calmly think and get to a solution (all the candles aka possibilities in his head going out except the "right answer")

Tiffany

The No Regrets OVA’s never fail to make my heart just weep for Levi. I was lucky to watch this a few episodes into season 2 and everytime I hear that ost.. man it never fails to stab me in the heart. This one definitely makes you have a much more in-depth read and appreciation for our cut-throat captain, he really does have no one at this point ((╥_╥) ) if you think about it, he lost his family twice, both here and the Levi Squad. I’m glad you guys enjoyed these (as heartbreaking as they were) and you guys appreciate this show as much as we do. Stay healthy and take care Badd Medicine 💖

Get rid of this aot in 9 minutes garbage. It’s such a cringe attempt at humour that only teens would find funny

Sean Carroll
>>134642027

No please stop recommending this garbage. It’s a cringe attempt at humour only teens would find funny

T.B.

I do not care for the OVAs at all, I think they're overrated/boring but I'm here to give yall a like nonetheless. Thanks for the post.

a f
>>134633087

except it does and it has existed in english for a long time. be better

Skellyp

The person covered in blood in the intro is actually armin, and the next one mason asked about, is hanji

Harley

Excited for season 2.. 🎉

J Knight

Why does Quinn think there are people in the abnormals 🤣 abnormals are just regular titans that have strange behavior.

KamiGema

i think they should watch Isle's notebook, and annie's backstory, but tbh I wanna see s2 so bad

hex1c
>>134647185

That's why DUB is 9/10 times shit. JP voices has a whole other level and gravitas.

Hugo Deschênes

Really enjoyed to see you guys watch these two OVAs, the end of the episode really set the tone for the future episodes with both Levi and Erwin

CT
>>134639023

Idk though? It definitely adds to the experience. There’s nothing wrong with watching the OVAS.. they’re still gonna get through the entirety of Aot

CT
>>134633087

I’m curious what rank Erwin and Hange are? Does it state it or just the characters you mentioned? I imagine hange would be at least 6th (my bias is showing for her) while Erwin would be at least top 10 😭

Jessica Tisdale
>>134639023

There’s nothing wrong with not watching it either but you obviously don’t feel the same way. People have different opinions. It’s fine

CT
>>134639023

Ofc, it’s just ppl have been repeating the same thing in the comments over and over. It’s tired . Though you might not get that, so it’s fine.

T.B.
>>134651919

I was genuinely trying to show my support? You guys are touchy. Geez.

Daanaa

* ILSE'S NOTEBOOK is another OVA that's an ok watch, not really important & can be ignored overall since it doesn't really add to the main story. Many have argued WHEN to watch it because it takes away a shock factor in the upcoming episodes of Season 2. So if you decide on it it's best to watch it AFTER Season 2 before entering Season 3 to play it safe

Pat O

Had to join your Patreon as soon as I saw you were doing AOT and have been thoroughly enjoying it. As for the OVAs, I love Levi’s character so enjoyed going into his backstory. Ilse’s notebook, if you do it, shouldn’t be watched before the first part of season 2. There are reveals that should just come from season 2. My vote is to go to season 2 next week.

Kel
>>134662731

They can’t watch the Annie one yet, it has a huge spoiler for season two!

Jen Garcia

Excited for Season 2 now!

Sophie
>>134642815

yeah this is a great idea, good to watch no regrets first but any other ovas they choose to watch should be after S2

Kel
>>134639023

In my opinion the No Regrets ones add so much for the sake of Levi’s character development. So I’m curious, now that you’ve watched this has your opinion changed at all? I’m interested to know how someone who never watched it before perceives it now.

Kel

Dave, I agree 100% with your comments regarding Erwin and Levi. It’s fascinating to me to see where they came from in relation to each other compared to how it is now—Levi is unwavering in his loyalty and trust in Erwin, and Erwin considers Levi his right-hand man. I think it’s brilliant that they started out as enemies and grew to trust each other so much. And of course just seeing what Levi has lived through, losing his best friends and then losing his squad in season one…the guy has been through it. I’m so happy you guys watched these! Personally I’m indifferent about you watching the other OVA’s, but this one to me is a necessity.

Yusuf
>>134651919

yea the patrons here cant take opinions other than their own. learned that myself the hard way.

L JF

THE OTHER OVA’S HAVE SPOILERS! SO PLEASE GO RIGHT AHEAD TO SEASON 2 :)

DustinEatWorld
>>134672589

But Ilses Notebook aired between Season 1 and 2.But yeah with the other OVAs you’re right. They shouldn’t be watched after season 1.

Jessica Tisdale
>>134639023

It just filled in some scenes that I saw pics of on the Internet. I had inklings on what possibly happened to Levi but, I mean I didn’t have much of an opinion on him since it would make sense for some people to be like that when put in the world of AoT. Overall, it didn’t add much to what I already guessed

Joaquin garcia

If you are going to watch Ilse Notebook OVA i think its better between episode 1 and 2 of season 2.

Bunnings Snags

The person covered in blood in the intro is armin, we dont see that scene though

Sydney

before moving on, you guys have to watch Attack on Titan in 9 minutes on YT

Sophie

No spoilers in my comment just advice about OVA’s so you don’t get spoiled by them. My advice is go straight to Season 2 now and don’t watch any other OVA’s until a little later to avoid getting spoiled/hinted by them. So there’s Isles notebook, which will spoil 2 things in season 2 (everyone is saying after S2EP1 but are forgetting it hints at stuff from the S210 so if you do watch it make sure it’s after S2EP10) but is still worth watching later on. There are 2 OVA’s regarding Annie like Levi’s OVA’s that have huge spoilers so I’d avoid those ones until later too. There is an OVA on Mikasa but I believe that takes place after season 2 or 3, forgive me I can’t remember when it came out lol. And then there are 2 others which in my opinion aren’t really worth watching as one is just a really goofy episode completely different to the tone of the show and adds nothing to the plot, and the other one is just a little mission the 104th cadets go through when they were going through training, this one is still at least in tone with the show so if you wanted to check it out you can! edit: annie’s ova has a spoiler that isn’t revealed to s3P2 so it should be watched any time after that.

Alex M
>>134684375

I really don’t think they would like it. So many of the references are to other anime that they wouldn’t pick up on, the humor is very based in the time and place it came out. I just don’t think it will hit as well for them as some seem to think.

Faiza
>>134680251

I REALLY hope they see this comment! It's best to watch S2E1, then the Ilse's Notebook OVA, and THEN S2E2 and the rest of the season after. Otherwise they'll encounter somewhat of a spoiler

hosu11
>>134647185

i wouldn't be so disrespectful towards the english VA's. i respect everyone's preference and i also prefer sub over dub in most cases but some of the english VA's are also pretty goated ! :)

Hippopi
>>134668152

It makes more sense to watch it either before S2 or after S2 ep 1. It's kind of important for the obvious reason.

Hippopi
>>134668628

It's meant to be watched before S2E4/5 given Hange's reaction to a certain name.

Alex
>>134684375

its literally a cringe-fest that was relevant a couple of years ago

Alex

That was the most important OVA because it added depth to Levi's (and Erwin's alongside) character and established that the underground city exits. In my opinion, the other OVAs- you can just straight up skip or watch as bonus episodes after finishing the whole series. Some spoil some things, some are kinda fillers so it's just better to proceed with normal seasons to avoid any confusion. Anyway, that was a great reaction guys:)

Ashtail Foxclaw

It's been so long since I watched these. First time I watched them I loved Levi's character a LOT more. At the beginning I thought he was just a stick in the mud and couldn't understand why people were so hyped about him, but after these OVAs I understood his character more and had a lot more respect for him. Knowing he's a germaphobe, things in season 1 makes me view him in a new light - like when he grabs a squad members bloody hand and tells him he'll carry on his burden of rage for humanity. It makes me think he's incredibly compassionate, even if he comes off as apathetic.

Daanaa
>>134668152

You are right. I doubt the guys will remember names so it would be fine. But my only reason to skip it is because a certain character will 'say' something in Season 2 which will give them quite a shock because imagine how haunting it was watching the episode when that character was approached by it and it can do that. Imagine how shock the guys will be when it happens

Kelly U

PLEASE BE CAREFUL BEFORE WATCHING MORE OVAS SOME HAVE MAJOR SPOILERS!

Daniela Robles

First time watching this OVA and oh my god??? Keith's face when Erwin said that whole speech, watching it after finishing the show (even better bc I knew Levi's past from s3 i think(?)) this is just too good!!!!

T.B.
>>134651919

@ Yusuf Omg, yes! I almost said something else back but then I decided it's not that deep. I'll let the petty police do their thing and I'll just stay away from the comments lol.

Garrett Gee
>>134680251

imo the ovas should be skipped because if they were actually important to the story they would be in the season. Its weird to expect them to watch the ovas, I dont really care if they watch them, just dont get the reason why I guess.

Sean

I think you guys should skip out on the next OVAs until the end of the season, makes the viewing experiences especially for first timers better

todomeowmo

Excited for season 2!

TinCan Cosmanaut

OVA only on crunchyroll? bummer i watch on hulu. I cant afford another service to see the extras. Dang i miss a week. No biggie

Flubbedsquid

I don't know why every reaction page gets comments asking for this. It's like, 10 year old comedy. Not BM's style at all either.

>>134659886

think the scouts would have noticed if that was the case LOL 😗

Patricia B

I heard Mason ask about the Omni-directional gear and if it was different from the 3D maneuver gear. They are the same thing. This is just a matter of different people translating the same thing differently. The same goes for the abnormal and aberrant titans. They're the same thing. Abnormals/aberrants are just titans that behave differently from normal titans. There are no humans inside of them.

Sydney

Yall rly gotta know the main cast, like its imperative. Maybe do an online quiz or something of season 1 characters LOL

Serashae
>>134662731

no, there is a pretty big spoiler - especially the very first scene. That spoiler doesn't even get revealed until season 4. I'd avoid Annie's one till after the full show has been watched

CreMa

btw the guy covered in blood is a reference to when armin hit his head when they saw the female titan

Cherrie

Please do not watch the other OVAs it will spoil two MAJOR areas of the story, please! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Angel

After you finish season two please react to the Lost Girls ovas focusing on Annie and Mikasa. Some are saying to wait until s3 but Annie's ovas are fine, they were released before s3 and I find them just as well done as Levis ovas- so watching those after s2 would be perfect. Mikasa’s contain spoilers unless watched after S3P1.
