The last you see of him in season 1 is at the door saying goodbye and driving a horse-carriage after the chaos pleading to himself that his family is okay. Then you see Eren having a dream where his dad injects him with something and that is all.

One exception to keep in mind is that you should sit back and watch the entire credit roll for episode 49 (3x12) because there is an event *during* the credits to tempt the pallet. It's sweet when you finally start getting some real answers in this show, huh? 😆 Just something I think you missed: when Kenny mentions his sister is pregnant, this means the sister is also an Ackermann. Mikasa's mother, if you'll recall, was an Oriental. It was her father who was an Ackermann. So Kenny's sister's child can't really be Mikasa. Also, it would be great if Diamond Dave really did go ahead and rewatched seasons 1 and 2! Would love to hear his thoughts afterwards!

Just to Clarify. Erens dad, Grisha, never appeared again after the first wall attack. Eren at that time had a dream of his dad injecting him with something and that was the last he saw of him. The timline makes sense, Eren ate his dad at that time, which is why we never see the dad again and why Eren, out of no where, had that “dream” and got the key. This episode was supposed to be the revel to that and the explanation to it. The Reiss Family can only erase memories not change them.

I am a big supporter of you guys taking some time and revisiting some of the parts of the episode that might be difficult to understand the first time around. Going back and making sure you understood some stuff that was said is almost demanded by this show. Especially if you don't speak Japanese. I know I did it many times myself. You can always just cut it out later.

This is why this show is better the second time you watch it, imo. You get to see just how much foreshadowing this show actually has and how well planned out the story really was. The author definitely had a whiteboard with the entire story planned out before he wrote it.

Mikasas mother was an ackermann btw hence when she got killed the killers got annoyed as they could have sold her as well as mikasa. Another theme among the ackermanns is the black hair that they have. Her dad was oriental. Also Kenny mentions that some of the ackermann family have moved close to shiganshina which is mikasas family as we also see eren and his father go to a cabin close to shiganshina. I won’t say the truth behind what Kenny says about his sister as that’s spoiler

This is completely wrong. Mikasa's mother was Oriental and it was her father who was an Ackermann. Her mother does not have Ackermann blood. Her mother had sale value because she was Oriental and considered rare. The men who attacked the family had no information about the Ackermann blood line.

@Bloop, Ushna was correct about Mikasa's mom being of Asian descent. If you remember the mom was killed because she attacked them so Mikasa could escape. One of the killers complains to another that they wanted the mom alive as she is Asian which is rare while Mikasa is only half-asian

The reason a lot of people had an issue with the political arc is because in the manga it was told half through flash backs and sometimes flash backs within flashbacks. Very disjointed and long paragraphs of dialogue. Even the author admitted it was messy and used the anime adaptation to clean up and fix it. But some small details were left out because of this.

Also, no Mason, they don't alter the memories as in change them, they alter as in erase them. Historia got real memories so Eren got real memories as well.

for some reason i think aot is the only anime that could work for them. it has great writing, story, no fanservice, no filler episode, sort of western in terms of location so they can understand it better. you don't get a lot of anime that has all of that in one go. there's always a bit of fanservice in 95% of anime

Honestly the entire season is an information overload. They introduce so many questions in S2 and just answer those in S3 and it even gives you answers that you didn't even know you needed.

I kept telling him, as good as the series is right now, imagine how crazy the rest is when I tell you that this is all kinda basic compared to the last half of season 3 and all of season 4. I think Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, what little I've seen of Trigun would all be acceptable. I think Fullmetal Alchemist would also be good for them. There's a certain level of fanservice and anime "quirkiness" that are a bit out there, but nothing too outrageous. If they were fine with seeing Sasha go feral in training camp in season 1, then I think they can handle FMA level quirkiness.

Answer, you’ve made the classic mistake. Mikasa is “Oriental” because of her Mother. Her father was the Ackermann, so she wouldn’t be Kenny’s sister in the brothel and the Ackermann’s are not an Oriental race, Mikasa is half of both.

Just a quick family tree explanation as it does get confusing. So we're dealing with 3 main families. Oriental, Reiss and Ackerman. All 3 are considered "important bloodlines". Levi is an Ackerman, so is Kenny and Mikasa. Mikasa however is part Ackerman, part Oriental. Her father was an Ackerman and mother was Oriental. The Reiss family however are the true royal bloodline. Theyve pointed out how they have a special titan and the ability to manipulate memories. The Fritz family (old king) are fake however Fritz will be a very important name in the future. In terms of the Memories Eren saw. All we know is that Grisha left before the walls fell and was never seen again. If you remember, he made sure to point out the key to Eren before leaving. The next thing we know Eren, Mikasa and Armin wake up and Eren is wearing the key (this is when they were still kids in S1)

You are correct Mason Quinn you have heard the name Levi Ackerman in the show. Kenny says it somewhere at the beginning of season 3. Before than we never heard Levi having any last name at all, neither did he know Kenny to have a last name either. :) There is more to it. It will come up in the show so as always hang in there! :D

Here's a little clarification about Grisha. He's never been seen on a boat. When the Wall got breached he was somewhere in the inner Walls and we see him on a carriage riding home while worrying for his family. After that we see Eren remembers having a dream of his dad injecting him something. Don't forget that 2 years passed after the attack on the Wall and before Eren could enlist to join the Training Corps. So plenty of time for a meeting with his dad.

here is a timeline of events to help make the eren/grisha thing clear 1. In episode 1 Grisha says he is going into the interior wall on a boat to visit a patient. He leaves home promising to show Eren the basement when he gets back. 2. On that same day Wall Maria is broken in by the colossal and Armoured titan, while this is happening, Grisha kills the Reiss family and takes the power from Frieda. 3. after Eren etc escape their hometown, Grisha rides back in a carriage begging for them to be safe. 4. We then get a scene where Grisha injects Eren telling him to avenge his mother and get to the basement. We dont fully understand the injection scene until this episode when the truth is revealed. Eren ate his dad and took his dads power alongside the royal family titan power. Thats why Rod wants to have Eren eaten, to return the royal family titan back to the royal family.
