I've been waiting all day for this. Hell yeah. I have seen this film 3 times, bout to watch it a 4th with you guys. I seen it subbed when it came out in December, then seen it in March in Japan in the Toho Cinema under the Godzilla hotel. Then I seen it dubbed when it came out on Netflix. Love this film and love you guys too. LETS GOOOO!

I'm Batman

Did you guys watch this subbed or dubbed?

The Truth

Excited to watch this again with the Badd Medicine crew when I get home tonight!

Oh yeah, thanks for the correction, usually I'm good with grammar but had just woken up and hadn't had my coffee yet, brain was acting slow.

Fajar Kurniawan

The director confirms, it was Godzilla Cell on her neck, she's got infected, that was how she survived. yes Godzilla cell is a canon lore, just like Atomic Breath. maybe someone else can explain it better. I just saw this in everyone's comments on Yt 😁

Fajar Kurniawan

And Toho just announced a guidelines for every next Godzilla movies. Godzilla can't EAT people (he still can stomp on them). and Godzilla must not be unalive in the end of the movie (but you still can bully him). But I think in every Japanese or American adaptation movies, we already see that. we never see Godzilla eating human. Which all of this shown in this movie, Godzilla just throwing away it's victim, and back to live in the end.

Superpotroast

Best Godzilla movie I've seen, but I've not seen a lot of them, also best movie of 2023, closely followed by its 'prequel' Oppenheimer.. I was lucky enough to see it 4 times in theaters, 3 times in color and once in Minus Color.. My favorite part is the whole first part of the plane sequence with Koichi flying around looking for and antagonizing Godzilla with that epic part of the score playing..

LaLa

Funny thing, I was so into watching with you that when Answer sneezed I said "God bless you." 🤣 I have mixed feelings on this one. I've seen every Godzilla iteration movie, series, animated, and even stop motion. I love that they focused on what it was like for the PEOPLE of Japan after the war, but I think it needed a bit more editing to relieve the drag. Also the only reason I accept her living at the end is b/c it was the blowback and not the heat beam.

I'm Batman

Great reaction guys, while I liked the Godzilla vs movies more I still enjoyed this one for what it is. Going back to it's original format of a Japan destroyer I'll always be on board for.

Rich

You guys would bloody love Sisu, Psycho Goreman and Willy's Wonderland. Btw, have you seen Last Blood?

Aaron Dimech

Been waiting a whole week since I saw the announcement for this. 5/5 reaction :) Worth the wait. Something small to add. 15 million budget for this movie. Peanut budget compared to the other ones and still by far best :D

Michael Aldana

It would be interesting seeing u guys react to the og Godzilla movies lol

David Wong

Great reaction fellas! The growth on Noriko’s neck is in fact cells from Godzilla. They enabled her to heal, and that’s what saved her life.

Professor00

This movie is closer in tone to the first two Godzilla movies from Japan in the 1950’s. When Godzilla was the villain and it was a commentary on the atom bomb.

Arudorin

Godzilla, minus one, is definitely superior to our Western Godzilla, without a doubt. Hollywood needs to take notes on this movie because that is how you make us care about the characters. Yes, there is a lump of Godzilla cells behind Noriko's neck, and the theory is that if they make a sequel, the lump on her neck will play a role, transforming her into something similar to Biollante.

Lauren

I just love hearing you guys discuss your analysis at the end of each movie. The three of you are such a great team, all finding different things from your own unique perspectives. And I completely agree that this isn’t a “Godzilla” movie - it’s a war movie with Godzilla in it. Which is what makes it so good.

Aria Isara

I liked the little reviews in the caption, you're not doing it anymore? 😩

MateoP

This Godzilla movie makes the ones we have look like shit 🤣 but their still fun I guess! 9/10 movie 📈 the lore on Godzilla is awesome like the fact he does have wolverines powers haha and they showed some of his powers from the comics which is doing justice to Godzilla ! !

Is dubbed when the language translation is Americanized? Because if so I prefer subbed, it seems more authentic and true to the culture.

Ivan Rasmussen

Saw this in theaters and yeah, it was pretty wild. Especially with the sound design and destruction

JJR10

Glad all of you enjoyed and liked the movie. I pretty much felt the same as your post movie thoughts and review. I really liked Oak's take on things how this was very much a post WWII movie. Not sure if you guys were aware but the meaning behind the title of this movie is related to that sentiment. After the war the people of Japan were essentially at "zero" being the losers of the war with a completely decimated country. And in the context of this movie with Godzilla showing up, they drop below zero or "minus one" as it were. Now I think you guys would enjoy the movie prior this (Japanese produced) called Shin Godzilla. Up until Minus One, Shin Godzilla was considered by many to be the best Godzilla film. It has a some incredible themes and commentary on bureaucracy. Would love to see you all react to it!

Crispin

man this godzillas Atomic Breath is Terrifying... Literally everytime it shoots its like a Atomic bomb going off wild stuff.. and the fact he also had freaking wolverine healing ability.. like come on.. this is what godzilla is meant to be.. not the Good guy lol Just a ruthless Merciless force of nature that seeming cant be stopped. 10/10 acting. first godzilla movie that actually makes you care about the human characters and their story and isnt all about godzilla. godzilla was more there to enhance the story more than anything eles.. could also go on and on about the messages of war in general this film has.. or how godzilla himself is a metaphore for war. great writing great film. great reaction.

Goofy scoundrel

Awesome reaction as always! Shin Godzilla is also a top tier godzilla movie, personally my favorite. With awesome visual effects, an awesome soundtrack. A true horror movie!

TK

I really hope Hollywood takes notes

They pay the artists peanuts! Job listings for the VFX company for this movie list a monthly pay of 244,971 yen ($1670) for 10am-7pm, with a fine print specifying that this number already includes 50 hours of overtime for the month.

MateoP

You guys should do a Godzilla lore video ! Learn his powers that aren’t shown yet!

Aria Isara

Watched this yesterday. This is actually my first Godzilla movie, it was very good! Lots of themes (survivor's guilt, humans destroying nature and each other etc). From what I heard and what you said I know not to expect as much from the Hollywood ones lol.

I think what she has on her neck is actually a shard of Godzilla since they were mentioning shards being all over the place, so she is healing through the regenerating power of the shard?

Fajar Kurniawan
>>142816118

yes, the director has confirmed that she's infected with G-Cells. That gives her regenerative ability. I will paste from online post : G-Cells, which are Godzilla’s cells, first appeared in the 1989 film "Godzilla vs. Biollante". In this movie, geneticist Genichiro Shiragami uses G-Cells to create a hybrid creature from the DNA of his deceased daughter and a rose. These cells are known for their regenerative and mutative properties, making them a significant element in the Godzilla franchise

Jason Duran

What this movie is essentially about is Survivor's Guilt. The only way to defeat it is to live.
