again it has nothing to do with anime, simply the characters love for Reiner after 3 years of friendship was difficult for them just brush those feelings aside in that moment

Disappointing that none of you took into account that Reiner was their best friend and big brother figure for 3 years during training. Yes they need to defeat them but to not recognise the reason for their hesitation is disappointing

Both can be true and again it does. It’s a common “trope” for characters to stall or for there to be an oddly unnecessarily long scene. Most animation studies do this to end episodes on a cliffhanger.

Disappointing that you didn't take into account that the anime just doesn't do an adequate job of showing the relationship that was built between Reiner and the others. Yes, perhaps you didn't read the manga, but not recognizing the reason for missing that point is disappointing.
