You can still look at the intro. But when it switches over to the next intro starting at episode 17 is when you have to look away

What clowns told them not to watch the intro? Why do people insist on doing this to first time watchers? lol I watched every intro as an anime-only viewer and nothing was ruined for me. The intros are there to build hype and anticipation. If you've seen Game of Thrones, you have a general idea how House of the Dragon will end but that doesn't make it any less entertaining. Again, not everything shown in the intro happens in the show. The only way you would know is if you've seen the show already. Also, the intro for the first half of season 4 probably is the least "spoilerly" out of all the intros in the entire show. Even the intro for the second half isn't a spoiler if you've been paying attention. If you didn't catch the hints and foreshadowing in your first viewing, you should definitely see them now. EDIT: The boys seem to have gotten confused. The Ymir that was in love with Historia is not the Ymir from history. They just share the same name. If you recall, our Ymir had the Jaw titan which she obtained when she ate Galliard's brother, Marcel, who came to Paradis with Reiner, Annie, and Bertholdt. Ymir agreed to returned to Marley and was eaten by Galliard. Now Galliard has the Jaw titan. Eren currently has the Attack Titan AND The Founding Titan. Zeke has royal blood. However, as seen at the start of this episode, no one in the military is aware of this fact.

You guys can watch the intros 😂 this one specifically does not give away anything in there. It alludes to WW1 & WW2 but you guys can already pick up on that. Sure Season 4 part 2 that’s not for another 15 ep. I could see the argument there but I still want you guys to react to that intro. We all did when it aired and didn’t get spoiled . You guys can too.

You guys can definitely watch the intro. I think the people who told you not to watch are talking about the second one for this season, but I really don't think it's a big deal in general. I always watch intros for anime and it's never caused me to not enjoy the content.

Everyone who wrote "dont watch the openings" really ruined the reaction to My War. Ya'll had Dave so worried that they talked through the opening in 4x1, and then didn't watching plus talked through it in 4x2. Congrats, for absolutely nothing. To the crew: you guys can watch both opening. it's fine. The vast majority of viewers do watch them. Also, My War (the current opening) doesn't have any spoilers in it. There was no way the majority of people watching were going to figure out Marley would drop eldians from the sky as an attack in the first episode just by watching the opening. The second opening of season 4 requires prior knowledge of future events. it's not spoilery otherwise. I hope the crew gives My War a proper chance, it's such a fun opening!

But when they talk about Subjects of Ymir, the mean the Eldian's who are descendants who can turn into titans, not the Ymir that we know. The Ymir we know was eaten by Galliard hence why he has her memories and her Jaw titan. Again if it is a spoiler which I don't think it is, someone let me know lol.

Understandable they miss some details here and there (heck, rewatching with them gave me clarity on stuff too) but I had wished they caught that moment where Reiner was talking about Sasha :) I remember coz in that episode they were talking about how “that didn’t look like half” and I had been looking forward to this moment hehe

I dont think its a spoiler, in the last 3 episodes of S3 when they told us the story of grisha i think the show try to make you understand what "subjects of Ymir" are. They told us that their ancestor Ymir made a contract with bla bla and obtained the titan power bla bla... so i think its not a spoiler cuz you should figured it out already.

The Eldians in Marley are always being watched so even if Reiner agrees with Falco, he had to remind Falco about where they were and that what he was saying could get him killed. He also could not put himself in a position where it seems like he agrees with those sentiments. Unfortunately the Eldians in Marley do see the Eldians on the island as different from them and as the cause of their suffering. Excited to see your reactions as you get more and more information.

That dinner with Reiner is really important because Reiner is just listing everyday flaws of regular people he is supposed to see them as devils. You can really see the brainwashing in Gaby how she didn’t understand how Reiner thought of them as “people”

It really doesn’t. I have watched it with multiple people who didn’t know the ending, none of them picked up on it. People rarely do. Pointing it out is what helps people pick up on it.

Here's a short break down of the relationships between some of the characters you guys met in this season. Colt Grice, Zeke's portage, and Falco Grice, the kid that doesn't want Gabi to inherit the Armored Titan, are brothers. Gabi Braun and Reiner Braun are cousins. Marcel Galliard, who got eaten by Ymir, and Porco Galliard are brothers. When Ymir went back with Reiner, Pieck and Zeke to Marley she ended up being eaten by Porco so he could inherit her Titan. Now he holds the Jaw Titan as you guys figured out. Pieck Finger is of course the platypus looking Cart Titan. Commander Theo Magath is the head of the Titan Warrior recruitment program. He's the officer that Gabi talked to in order to get permission to pull off her crazy plan to blow up that armored train in Episode 1 (60). Tybur Willie and the Tybur family are Eldian nobles. It is said they sided against King Fritz in the Great Titan Wars. This is why they are respected by the nation of Marley but also by other nations around the world. They are said to hold the War Hammer Titan but they have never used their Titan outside of the the Great Titan Wars, really a civil war, of old. Hint: There is a special relationship between the Tybur noble family and the nation of Marley beyond what I mentioned above. That special relationship is subtly discussed by Commander Theo Magath and Willie Tybur at some point in episode 4 (63). See if you guys can figure it out. Lastly, you can watch the intro guys. It's episodes 17 (76) through 21 (80) that have a NEW intro that contains a big spoiler. After episode 21 (80) you can watch that new intro.

reiner talking about the bad people but was not saying anything bad about them is why they all looked so shocked, he talked about the "demons" like they were just normal people when they all have been telling themselves they are not people but demons.

I disagree. Most fans didn’t pick up on those scenes till either after a second rewatch or from intently watching the intro. As much as they catch it’s super subtle & it really is ambiguous enough that unless they are looking for something. It won’t spoil anything.

As yall might have noticed, they have changed animation studios from Wit to Mappa. Some people have a hard time recognizing characters and adjusting to the new style, but I just want to say that it was wise of Isayama (the author, and the goat) to make this decision at a time jump in the story in order to make the change more seamless, and also at the time of Mappa's peak (except their employees getting paid less than they should).

Guys, there are NO SPOILERS IN THIS INTRO! I don't know why people keep saying this, maybe they're referring a bit more to the second intro which is from episode 76, but I honestly advise you to watch it, it's amazing!! Besides, what did we do when we watched it for the first time? We watched everything! Nobody told us: oh don't watch this or that! Saying that an intro has spoilers is actually a spoiler!

Guys, please watch both openings of this seasons, you can't be spoiled in opening if you know nothing about upcoming season. All of us who watched AOT for the first time have watched openings right away and it hyped us more for the upcoming episodes (all of the dumb pricks who told you not to watch them, have watched them when show aired and were hyped about it and weren't spoiled because no one knew what is going to happen).

Guys the opening and ending songs are so iconic and definitely worth watching everytime imo, the endings deff don't have spoilers in any case but tbf I don't think the Opening spoilers are a big deal, at the end of the day they exist in the show to be watched so I see it more as a teaser of the season then acc spoilers! xx this season is insane and I know rewatching will be such a treat because of the gravity of what takes place 💛

Now that you've heard of the "Warhammer titan" you now know all nine titan shifters. Warhammer, Jaw, Cart, collosal, attack, armored, beast, female, and founding. And yes, there is the "founder Ymir" and the Ymir that was in love with Historia. They are two different people.

Little summary about the Ymirs with information that you guys have already seen. So in Greishas flashback after his sister was eaten his dad teaches him the "story of the world". In there he mentions that 1000+ years ago a girl named Ymir made a pact with the devil to obtain the titan powers (you will learn her full story later in the show). So all the titans and all the Eldians are called subjects of Ymir. Her titan is the one they call the Founding titan. Its the titan that Greisha had stolen from the Reiss family and later on given to Eren. Eren posses both the Attack Titan and the Founding Titan but he cant use the Founding because he has no royal blood. Now the Ymir that we have seen in the story was an Eldian child that has lived in Marley. In her flashback she gets picked from the streets by some guys to be worshipped by Eldians in some sort of cult. They told everyone her name is Ymir and that she is of royal blood. Later on they got caught by Marley and sent to Paradis island where they were turned into titans. And so Ymir ended up roaming around the island for 60 years as a pure titan. Untill she ate Marcel and inherited his powers thats when she could turned back human again. From there on the rest plays out as you know it. She helped Reiner and Berthold and later on was brought back to Marley where she was be eaten by Galliard.

Guys the intro is not a spoiler, stop telling them to skip it! Not even the second intro, despite what everyone says. We were meant to see the intros and all the visuals in them, it's part of the show! If we weren't meant to see it, they wouldn't have shown it. Guys just also wanted to say there’s two different ymirs. The original ymir is the first ever titan. The Ymir we know was named after her as a fake prophet. So that’s why I think Dave is confused as also in the rod reiss arc the whole point is reiss trying to reclaim the founding titan from Eren himself as eren has two of the nine titans. The founding and the attack titan👍

Just to clarify I hope you read the comment, Ymir from s01 and S02, the one who loves Historia is not the same Ymir they keep mentioning like subjects of Ymir. Historia's Ymir was an orphan in Marley who some Eldian cult took her and named her Ymir after the Founder Ymir (the Goddess Ymir) when Marley discovered the hiding place of this cult they turned them including Ymir into titans and sent them to Paradis, after 60 years of being a mindless titan this Ymir ate Marcel, Reiner and Berthold's friend who had the Jaw Titan, and because she ate him she became the Jaw Titan herself. After they failed their mission of regaining the Founding Titan, Galliard, Marcel's brother, ate her and now he has the Jaw Titan. The Founder Ymir is the one mentioned in the history books not Jaw Titan Ymir

If it helps at all to clear any confusion of the lore so far without spoiling the future: - Ymir was a girl thousands of years ago who got the power. Ymir in the show is just a girl named after the original Ymir. She's just an orphan with the same name. She happened to eat the previous Jaw titan, and when she went back with Reiner last season, she was eaten by Gelliard who is the new Jaw Titan (that was what the flashback in this episode is). - Eventually OG Ymir had kids and lead to her people "children of Ymir" conquering the world with titans. "Children of Ymir" is the same as "Eldians" - Marley, an outside nation, managed to beat the Eldians around 100 years before the show started. - The king and his family and people escaped to the island where the story starts (100 years before it starts), but leaves a WHOLE bunch of eldians on the outside. - The eldians/children of Ymir on the outside are treated as scum, made to wear armbands, and are made to fight for Marley because the whole world hates their race even 100 years later. - Any soldier you see with an armband is an Eldian, fighting for Marley because they truly believe they are monsters who need to atone for their past - Basically Marley is using Eldians as weapons to kill other Eldians who are "more evil" as well as just a general militaristic force, and most of the Eldians fighting for Marley are all brainwashed by generations of abuse to think this is a good thing or they deserve it. This is why Gabi goes "They're all bad people right?" - because that's what she and everyone else was raised to believe. - The above is why Reiner describing completely normal people when everyone thinks the island is "full of devils" is so intense. He's basically saying stuff that goes against what the government stuffs down everyone's throats, and frankly you could probably be imprisoned for saying things like that.

Eren has two titans inside : The Attack Titan and the Founding Titan, Greisha inherited the Attack Titan from the owl and he stole the founding Titan from Historia's Sister. The nine titans are 1.Attack and Founding Titan: Eren Yeager 2. Armored Titan; Reiner 3. Colossal Titan: previously Berthold, currently Armin 4. Female Titan: Annie 5.Jaw Titan : previously Marcel, then scout Ymir and currently Galliard (Marcel and Galliard are siblings) 6. Beast Titan : Zeke 7. Cart Titan: Pieck 8. War Hammer Titan: still unknown

I feel like some people have completely ruined your viewing experience by telling you the intro contains spoilers, i dont understand why, for someone elses viewing experience, some of you would change the way somethings meant to be watched… if they weren’t meant to be watched why would they have even been made? You guys are just so awesome at post episode discussions🫶🏻 I think this show is great at getting the mind running and questioning all their goals or dreams going forwards. There is no leaf or stone left unturned when it comes to this show, even the minuscule things that you guys pick up on, lines such as “they’re bad people.. right?” is so provocative in a show like AoT. I can’t believe we are in season 4 already guys, it feels like just last week you guys started watching this show even though it has indeed been quite a while.. hah. Everything is connected when it comes to this special show. Thanks guys for continuing on and providing us with entertainment and all the feels, not just these two drops but the OVAs as well. Some people may see it as filler or unimportant, if anything it gives us more world building and backstory for certain events we may have not even seen. It’s basically characterization/dissection for us to get a deeper understanding of our cast. Also doods, the OP and the EDs are safe to watch unless you’ve seen the whole show, and especially for the season you’re on. I can promise you guys there is no spoilers 🕊️💚🤘🏻

They were certainly made to be watched but they were not made to be spoiler free. If anything they are supposed to have hints to draw in a casual non invested viewer who would watch this on air. I think if you are already in for the long haul it's to your benefit to not watch them but thats just my opinion, I dont think its that serious. The manga chapters dont have "Intros" to each chapter so I would argue that the intro doesnt have anything to do with how the story is "meant to be watched" as you said. I dont even remember the intro for this season lol I just know its naive to think anime intros won't have spoilers. They almost always do. All I can say is I hope they skip the last one LOL

clarification ymir the scout ymir is clapped dead done ate by the soldier who was there when reiner woke from his nightmare that's how he has her memories he ate her. her titan was the jaw titan.

Both openings are fine to watch. If they were spoilers that ruined the anime, why would the showrunners include them in the show in the first place? All fans of AoT watched the openings when they were being released weekly and it did not ruin the show for us. He racked his brain trying to paint them as vile and the only thing that stood out was Sasha's hilarious gluttony.

What Gabby meant was, they were told the island population were devils their whole life so they have a preconceived notion that everyone there are bad people. However, the way Reiner described the people there, was not in line with this perception, so that’s why she was confused and the mother Seemed horrified.

I think the reason why they reacted to Reynar that was is because they were talking devils, but Reyner just started talking about them as if they were normal people.

i'll parrot majority of the people here, whoever told you to not watch the intro is just plain wrong... there's nothing spoilery at all and it's fine to watch 😅 Also, hopefully, you guys are aware that there are 2 Ymirs - the original titan Ymir and the girl Ymir who was in love with Historia. Historia's Ymir has been dead for a long time now (well since she decided to help and go back with Reiner and Bertholdt waaay back in s2), because she was eaten by Galliard to get the Jaw Titan back to Marley.

Bit of confusion there at the end about Ymir and the Founding Titan. Ymir (the one who was in love with Historia) is most definitely not the Founding Titan. Eren is. When Zeke is talking about retaking the Founding Titan, he's talking about Eren, not Ymir.

to address Ymir confusion: There are 2 Ymirs. 1) 'Our' Ymir (who was in love with historia and had the Jaw Titan etc) was a nameless child living on the street, and was named Ymir by a man who then brought her to be worshipped under the guise that she had royal blood (which wasn't true). she was just selected off the street because she had no family and seemed that she could do the job. she was found out by police and sent to Paradis to be a pure titan, after decades of being a pure titan she eventually ate Porco's brother, and gained his Jaw Titan power. Eventally when brought back to Marley, Porco reclaimed his brother's Jaw Titan from Ymir. 2) The Founder Ymir, who started the power of the Titans ('deal with the devil' that the Marleyans talk about). she lived about 2000 years before the current events. Eldians are also called subjects of Ymir because they all possess the ability to turn into titans because of her.

You mistook Reiner telling Falco off, he was making sure that Falco understands the terror of being a warrior and that he should strive to earn the role instead of Gabi, so that Gabi can be saved from the fate of being a warrior. Reiner understands this because of this own trauma. Also when Reiner was recounting his stories on the islands, it was supposed to be ironic - because the worst stories he could think of for these "devils" was Sasha stealing a potato when she was hungry. You would expect to hear stories of brutality and evil, yet Reiner could only talk about different personality traits.

Gotta remember that Reiner came to paradis island with a mission to take the founding titan from the reiss family. While training with everyone in the military he began to become friends with them and developed a split personality where he loved his friends and his other personality where he remembers his mission. Reiner at the end of the day is a broken man who hates what he is doing and wants to save Gabi from the eventual trauma she would endure as a titan wielder.

What I feel is very important for them to not lose sight of or even forget while watching the show is the few scenes of certain characters that have memories of Eren, Mikasa and Armin, even though they have never met them or even live in the same timeline as the main characters. These will come into play HEAVILY later on and I hope they don't forget these little scenes.

You can watch the Openings, most of us watched the openings when it aired, its not a spoiler, a lot of the scenes are just cool animations to go with the songs. I wouldn't try to analyze the openings and predict what will happen based on them since they are unique scenes made for the OP. Remember the season 2 opening had flying whales and dinosaurs in it and those never appeared, it was just cool animation to hype things up.
