@Diamond Dave, there is still 1 more music change and it's arguably the best opening song. (Episode 76) edit: the new ending song is also lit, but needs English translation which isnt shown in Crunchyroll. IMO it's an interesting insight to Eren's perspective and motivation for his questionable actions.

RunAwayCloak

Here we go with the hypocrisy again this is why the author of attack on titan is amazing gabi is the same exact way as early eren when it came to the titians calling her annoying is basically calling early eren annoying you guys just have an unnatural biased towards eren for some reason erem acted the same exact way when he was captured by reiner he didn't listened called them animals and did the exact same thing as gabi there literally the same side of one coin people driven by hatred and revenge

Linh Nguyễn
>>148945415

it's different though. Almost all reactors felt the same way about Gabi, despite knowing she was like Eren. The thing is we've been with the paradis people for the past 3 seasons and connected with them, so ofc we will side with them despite eren did what reiner did to his people. Ofc there would be bias bc we literally been with our crew for the majority of the show and resonate with them. Same thing can be applied to the marley hate. As for Gabi, she was clearly brainwashed by the Marley people, but even so her cocky nature and her argument of "if i didn't see it happen then it didn't happen" or "your ancestors from thousands of years ago are evil therefore you are evil" is pretty stupid, compared to eren or his group who doesn't have any thoughts like that. Again, she is a child but still (a very smart one though), it's still an unlikable factor. Even falco understands the whole situation and even tries to tell her multiple times. Though her character development later on led me to like her.

>>148945415

I'm pretty sure Gabi's character is meant to make us feel this way and I'm pretty sure 98% of all AOT fandom felt the same way when watched for the first time. The guys, and the rest of us, are allowed to feel the way we feel

Linh Nguyễn
>>148945415

Like, we can still dislike a character for their shitty personality lol, even when they have similar traits to our main character. But also remembers that she's a character from the side that we have always seen as the bad people, with us seeing what the people of paradis went through because of them. That's why most people didn't like gabi until the end where she has her character development

Badd Medicine
>>148945415

We have mentioned several times in season 4 that this is reflection of season 1 and that Gabi reflects Eren. We said we have an understanding where she is coming from.

RunAwayCloak
>>148945415

Ik I'm saying the way the author can make you hate someone even tho they are the exact same copy of a character you love everyone hated gabi we all were hypocritical to her even tho she is a mirrior of eren but we love eren in the begging for those same qualitys diamond called her annoying which is true but its weird how no one ever called early eren annoying when he was doing the same things

Minerva Ravenclaw
>>148945415

Bro please, we don't have to talk like this to the reactors, let them feel whatever they want to feel, fans like this make reactors stop enjoying the anime.

RunAwayCloak
>>148945415

Never said it wasn't did you not read my comment that's why I said the author is so good bc he's able to make you hate a character even tho she's a copy of a character you love please learn how to read we all hated gabi even I that was the point of her whole character he wanted to show us how hypocritical we can be towards somone who is in the exact same position as someone we love

Norberto Ramirez

Dave imagine u listened to this story for all your life.. a few days not gonna change her mind.. just think of religion... what people are doing in the name of religion.. its essentially the same.. one would think they could sit down like adults and talk it out in 2024.. but nah.. kids are dying... still... they will keep going..

Ian

Falco also heard directly from Eren's mouth that there were no devils on the island, it's all the same. Gabi never had that moment, which is a big reason the two are reacting so differently to what they're experiencing on the island.

Smuckfuzzer

New music on episode 17 I believe.

Yama

About Mikasa’s power was mentioned S3 ep6 15:50 Kenny said Ackerman awakened their power suddenly. Levi also ask Mikasa that is it happen to u already and she answered yes.

Kimmie M

It’s okay to be annoyed with Gabi , we all were ☺️

Kevin

Very good discussions on Gabi guys. I appreciate reactors that try to understand how she's reacting, if/when they think she'll come around, etc. Awesome reaction as always!

I'm Batman

It was brought up but episode 17 will have a different intro and personally my favorite one. Also diamond Dave I'm with ya 100%, Gabi is annoying. We understand where she's coming from, sure, doesn't make her not annoying.

Aaron Dimech

Episode 17 I believe, is another new intro music and my personal favourite hands down!

Kazuma Satou

Always loved how this episode featured 2 throwbacks to characters that were saved as a child by someone from our cast and the different directions they took in life.

>>148945415

it wasn’t what you said buddy, it was the way you said it 😂 even if it wasn’t your intention, you came at them harshly lol. just chill

DustinEatWorld

Quoting a comment from Lethal Mitch: „Hey I know this is a little early, but I recommend reacting to episodes 19,20,21 of Attack on Titan at the same time since they are all connected. If possible that would be great. Thank you guys for all the great reactions.“ 😇

Drift3r

There will be a new intro starting at episode 17 (76). However the new intro contains a spoiler so I'd say DO NOT watch the new intro until you guys have finished with episode 21 (80). Again skip the new intro starting at episode 17 (76) through episode 21 (80). Starting on episode 22 (81) it'll be okay to watch the new intro.

Drift3r
>>148945415

Exactly. Her character needs to exist because she is driving a major narrative point within the plot. The same goes with KING Floch as well. That being said, it's natural for viewers to have a strong reaction to her because she was written for that express purpose. To drive home a point about the problems behind the issue of constant historical recrimination and how it often fuels the cycles of violence people can get caught up in.

Brooksie

I think it is fine for you guys to watch the new opening songs, they're basically mini trailers for the season. It's your choice tho.

blitzman08

Gabi is still just a kid. Diamond Dave is the one who needs to chill

blitzman08
>>148964529

Lol you were the only one getting visibly annoyed by her 1 minute into the episode. Yeah I did watch the review, it was good. Just interesting observation, you telling her she needs to "chill" and comparing her to Falco. It shows us early in the season that Gabi took Marley's teachings more to heart and Falco didn't. Hence their different actions. Can't compare them and say why Gabi can't be more like Falco.

Badd Medicine
>>148964529

Falco was also there with Eren and Reiner. He knows a little more then Gabi. As I mentioned, she just needs to take 1 moment to not react and get herself taken out. That's why she needs to chill out for a moment to listen and think. She's just reacting with rage. Yes, she's a kid, but even kids can listen if one were to ask to chill out for a second. If you had a friend in that position I'm sure you would be saying chill out for 1 moment too. 🤙🤙

Ushna Seeam
>>148964529

Falco is also just a kid, but you don't see him killing people left right and centre. With every rewatch, my dislike for Gabi intensifies. Ugh!

Ginzo

I mentioned it before, but Gabi is a child soldier. She's been completely indoctrinated. I never liked Gabi, but the blame is on Marley. They took her as a child and raised her to be the perfect soldier. This is why the warrior candidates are all children. Children are easy to manipulate and you can instill within them the values that you want. Some kids will turn out like Falco but most will turn out like Gabi. Also, maybe I missed it, but I don't think you guys realized that the family that took Falco and Gabi in is Sasha's family. They're sitting there eating with their daughter/sibling's killer.

Rex Ramrod

hey guys im sure in season 3 levi and mikasa talked about how they both, as well as kenny ackerman, all had that moment of "awakening strength" that Mason Quinn was talking about with mikasa in the cabin. All ackermans are super strong like that.

Rena Unnie

Yes!!! you will have a new opening ! :D

Stephanie Soucek

lmao at the people pretending that Gabi ISN'T being a little annoying, do ya'll not remember her getting absolutely dogpiled when this first aired? everyone HATED her. she's being extremely stubborn and volatile and isn't thinking straight. if it wasn't for Falco they would've been dead already. yes she's been brainwashed and has endured serious trauma. you can understand where a person is coming from and still think they're being unreasonable lol

eren llega

hey just a friendly reminder, there is a video on youtube "gabi getting punched for 1 hour" for your pleasure :D

Orangeplum
>>148964529

I might be one of the few who was never bothered by Gabi. She's clearly written as Marley's "young Eren" counterpart. But people weren't as visibly pissed at Eren when he flew off the handle in the first few seasons. IDK, she's basically Eren if he was brainwashed imo

Marbelis

Gabi somehow is one of the most hated characters and i understand why because if you follow the story she portrays a more out of control character than Eren was, i always have to remember myself that she is a 10 years brainwashed kid and she does act like child with rage.

Eduardo

One more music change. It's one hell of a OP/ED thats for sure

Ivan Rasmussen

I've grown to like Gabi. She's very strong in her beliefs and passionate but yeah, she needs to tone it down a bit just like early Eren lol

Skellyp

Back in season 3, it’s stated in a conversation between Levi and Mikasa that both of them and Kenny all had a moment where they felt a sudden surge of strength and immediately knew what to do. This moment for Mikasa was in episode 6 where she saved Eren from one of the kidnappers who killed her parents. Levi said “apparently it happens when an Akerman’s fight or flight response is activated”. Hopefully this helps mason on wanting answers about Mikasa. There is clearly something different about the Akermans than everyone else.

Kel
>>148945415

Just speaking for me, but I called Eren annoying back in season 1 when I watched the show. I couldn’t stand him and almost gave up on it but I kept watching because I liked Armin and Mikasa. I found Gabi just as annoying on first watch.

Vlad Skiy

Yes THE music change is coming.

Magda Ch

The second opening song of the last season is coming soon and whatever people say please watch it at least once, just like we all did when we first saw the show, and I bet you anything you're gonna love it! Just like you love the first opening! Hehe It's different though 😁 I'd love for you to be able to listen to it with the lyrics! When you finally make the reaction video to all the openings and endings do it with the lyrics please 🙏🏼

justin

Gabi is scary because I can see her in younger me. When I was a child I would see wars of my country and just be able to blindly say "we" were the good guys, the others were bad. Now Gabi is that, cranked to 11. The thought excercise i do, is imagine dealing with a real child soldier. Think of Blood Diamond or something. Yea, I can honestly say they are being unreasonable in their beliefs, and are stubborn and what not, but to judge that child in anyway but pity and empathy is just beyond me.

Thiago Gaspar

The seeds are planted throughout the script... watch carefully as everything, including these episodes with more dialogue, will serve a purpose in the end :)

Marco Gutierrez
>>148945415

It really isn't hypocrisy though. Gabi is and always was annoying. Her whole mentality of "we're the good Eldians and we need to prove that by killing all of the bad Eldians" is the kind of indoctrination that I refuse to believe someone can't see unless they're being willfully ignorant. It literally just takes one question for it all to disolve " what if *they* say that I'm a bad Eldian next?" Once that collapses, then the whole ideology collapses and you're forced to ask what exactly makes the Paradisans "bad" Eldians aside from the fact that your overlords declare them to be? They're not invading, they aren't raiding, they aren't going around burning the countryside. The only aggressive action they've done is just launch a counterattack for the years of Marleyan aggression. It's 100% deserved, and there's no hypocrisy in hating Gabi while praising Eren.

Marco Gutierrez
>>148961637

It contains no spoilers. The only surefire way of making something into a spoiler is by warning about spoilers beforehand. People were saying this exact same thing regarding earlier openings from previous seasons, like the season 2 opening with the female titan that they never once caught on being Annie until it was revealed. They also said the same regarding the season 3 end credits scene and that one wasn't spoilers either. Not everyone hyper analyzes everything. The opening was made to be watched by people watching that very episode. It's part of the viewing experience.

Marco Gutierrez
>>148968361

I'll push back on that idea. Yes she was indoctrinated as a child, but all it takes to break indoctrination is to start asking questions. Reiner started asking questions, and look where he ended up. The same thing holds true for Falco. All Gabi needs to do is start asking questions and she can very easily break that indoctrination. The problem is that she *won't* ask those questions, because if she does then she's going to be led to some very uncomfortable truths. Truths like "there's no such thing as 'good' Eldians and 'bad' Eldians, they're all just Eldians". Like all she has to do is ask "why did they attack us?" The answer is "because we attacked them". She could also ask "what if our overlords one day declare that I'm a 'bad' Eldian? What do I do then, roll over and die like a good Eldian puppet?" The reason why indoctrination works is because the people that push it punish any attempts to question or reason through the indoctrination. Questioning things is treated as disobedience, because the ideology doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Anyway, I'm rambling. My point is that Gabi is willfully ignorant and refuses to question the narrative she's been told her whole life, despite having a good reason to question it. This means she is willfully complicit in her own indoctrination. She *WANTS* to believe in it, so she isn't going to give herself a chance to question it.

Katie Madsen

Yes diamond dave there is more intro music to come! Very excited for you guys to react to the next opening!

JOJO
>>148945415

Eren wasnt killing people like gabi, gabi is wired for murder not killing titans lol

Asura

Mikasa childhood breaking hood was part of animation but his bloodline ackermann need somewhere in life a push to become that strong like levi and Kenny but it just show that push nd it's just Animation.

Joaquin garcia

35:42 i think it explained in S3 when levi tells her about the "Ackerman awakening"

Damian Ives

You guys should do the next 2 in dubbed so you don’t miss anything and can enjoy action without reading. The dubbed actors are great I watched it in both don’t let the nerds tell you any different.

Eric Wallace

Been a damn long week and it's Wednesday. Glad to have this to decompress with. Thanks guys

Gu
>>149045676

it's the strength of Titans in the ackermans

Gu
>>148945415

I found Eren annoying season 1 too tbh so it is a good

Vasileios Mitsos

since you guys want action so badly i recommend after AOT you watch vinland saga its an anime about viking and first season has lot of action and violence and s2 focus on Caracter development with some action

Peeker

Gabis line "without this (the armband) im just like those island devils!" is so sad. She was brainwashed to think that the only worth she had was that armband and something a little as it being taken from her instantly makes her just like the enemies she fought against

MooLake
>>148961637

Saying there is spoilers is a spoiler. Let them enjoy the opening as we all did.

Ana
>>149000657

People are telling them to skip the most goated intro??

Ana

I hate gabi and the comparisons to Eren. His rage is justified hers is not. Eren thought he was the last of humanity and unknown giants were eating them for no reason. Eren’s rage stemmed from wanting to save people not selfish reasons. Gabi is racist and her rage is to her own people. She has a lot of self hate and wants to do things for self gain. Her anger is never justified Anyways my people showed up let’s go Floch

Jonathan
>>150224593

??? She's angry in general towards her own people, yes, but her anger specifically about Eren is because he murdered her friends right in front of her. I feel like that's pretty justified

Jonathan
>>149138277

Pretty rude to say that anyone who disagrees with you is a nerd. So funny how people masquerading as the super positive crowd suddenly become so vicious in the presence of any pushback. I like the subs, I think the dub sounds like trash. You don't have to agree, Badd Medicine will decide one way or another what they want to do, doesn't bother me. It's just a preference thing. Calling someone a "nerd" because they prefer one version over the other is just stupid though.

Jonathan
>>148964529

precisely this. She is *supposed* to be unlikable. They'll have to wait to see the reason why, but it wasn't done just because Isayama wanted to turn his readers away. Obviously it serves a greater purpose later on. The reaction I think a mature person should have towards Gabi is pity. People are born different, which is why both Falco and Gabi, born and raised under the same propaganda, are totally different people. Some people are more independent thinkers, and some are more easily swayed by peoples' opinions. Gabi is clearly very insecure and wants to be liked by people, Falco not so much. As such, she is much more susceptible to propaganda because she wants to do whatever will make her look like a good person. Yes, we roll our eyes at people like that in real life, but here's the thing, *anyone* can fall for propaganda. You're not immune to it, and hell, you might even believe some false things right at this moment and you'll only come to regret it later in life. If you've ever changed your mind on something really big, even once, you should be able to find it in you to have some compassion on a young person who's deeply self-deceived. She's not "evil", she is "lost." At the very least that's the way I choose to look at it. Because if people who you don't like are "evil", well the end result is that you end up dehumanizing them, which makes it easier to abuse and mistreat them, but if they're just "lost", then it means you have a responsibility to try to help them. So really, at the end of the day, it just depends on how selfish you are, I think. Too tired to care about someone else's problems because you think yours are so much worse? Easy! Those other guys are just evil! They don't need MY help. Toss 'em from the airship! But if you can, for a second, just put your own ego aside, maybe you can see a bit of yourself in that other person. Maybe you can relate to the child longing for recognition and receiving it from all the wrong places. Maybe someone like that needs help, not hatred. Anyways, yeah, this show I find to be a really good litmus test for how *actually* empathetic people are.

Jonathan
>>148968361

I feel like you guys are talking past each other. I think we all agree that Gabi is 100% in the wrong, and while part of her situation is not her fault, there are parts that are definitely her fault. You can be born into a terrible situation and still choose to make it worse, which she is definitely doing. The point that I think is in question here is "what narrative purpose does this serve?" I think some people see the reactions to her and think "oh, they think her character arc is an unenjoyable part of the show" and overreact by trying to explain by how it's actually totally fine, but that misses the point. I think the guys are just pointing out how unforgivable Gabi is right now, not that they think it makes the show actively worse. My thought is: you'd have to be crazy to *like* Gabi as a character. That's pretty normal. However, the next step is, does it take away your *enjoyment*. For me, absolutely not, because I trust Isayama, so I know he's including this character in order to make a point later on. I think the guys are still enjoying the show but are just commenting on how unlikable a person Gabi is right now.

Ana
>>150224593

She still would of been like this without Eren

Ginzo
>>148968361

Again, Gabi is an indoctrinated child soldier. 12 years old. Kids are young and impressionable, easy to mold. Her behavior and choices would be questionable as an adult but not as a child. And even as adult and presented with new information, it' can be very hard to change your world view when something has been ingrained in you for years. And this isn't even taking the authority aspect into the equation. People tend to obey authority even if it goes against their conscience. According to studies, most child soldiers end up like Gabi or with mental issues like Reiner. In real life, we would put Marley on trial for war crimes and put the 12 year old child soldier in therapy. Not blame her for being indoctrinated. And for real life references that support my argument, look at the Milgram experiment and the Wikipedia page for "Children in the Military."

Ana
>>150224593

@Grace can say the same to you because what did you offer to this comment? Oh yeah nothing.

Nourddine Rasmussen
>>150224593

Still, it is not her fault. All the Eldian children are being brainwashed about their sins, and they are taught that the only way to redeem themselves is to denounce their ancestry and revere Marley. Falco is more like Armin, and is very kind-hearted but he also has all the perspective from his talks with Eren. Gabi only saw her friends die around her, she is completely justified. And your argument that Eren is justified because the "titan did it for no reason" isn't sound. Would he suddenly not be justified if they had a reason? Gabi has done terrible things, but you should understand why. That's just my opinion I guess.

Patricia B
>>150224593

@johnathan The difference beteen Eren and Gabby and why Eren's anger feel more justified is knowledge. Eren (nor anyone in Paradis, for that matter) had any knowledge of Paradis. They didn't know about the intellegent titans. They didn't even know there were other humans in the world. Marley's attack on Paradis was completely unprovoked and without any justification. On the other hand, Gabby had FULL KNOWLEDGE of the attack on Paradis. She loved the idea. Not only that but she is a warrior in contention to inherit the armored titan. So not know did she know about the attack on Paradis 4 years ago, but she knew of plans to attac Paradis again. PLUS, when Eren attacked, she was at a rally that declared WAR on Paradis. So for her to be all gunho for attacking Paradis and killing its people, while be shocked and shaken that Paradis dared to fight back makes her a hypocrite. Yes, she is brainwashed and as a member of a minority group, I have met plenty of Gabbys in real life. It's sad and I sympothize with her. However, her anger is NOT justified. And lets not forget that her friend that were nurdered were also candidate warriors, all vying for the chance to inherite a titan and an island of people who had done nothing to them at that point. It's like if person A repeatidly punched person B in the face and after the 10th time, person B finally punched back and knocked person A out in one punch. Yes both person A and person B punched someone, but only one of them is justified (hint: it's not person A. Gabby is person A).
