Get the tissues ready. I will cry everytime!! I struggle with anxiety so much and feeling good enough. This film is fantastic and does an amazing job giving personality to our emotions. I love that certain emotions became more dominant when she got older. Great watch and agree with all your points as well. HAPPY FRIDAY GANG!!!

Elle

This film was so amazing, definitely one of my favourite sequels. They did an incredible job portraying the new emotions, especially anxiety.

Love10 ❤️

I was not aloud to have a mood swing with my parents....... I wish I would have said some mess like "Jesus mom your ALWAYS ON ME!!!!" The way I wouldn't have made it past "Je............" u better get up and pack that bag hahaha 🎒 love this movie 🎬 ❤️ the anxiety/panic attack really hits home great scene.

This is the best animated movie Disney's put out in a LONG time. Loved it!

I love this movie so much, even more than the first one. As a mental health provider I have worked with a lot of teens and their parents. The fact that family island was so small and friendship island is so large speaks to the truth of this being developmentally appropriate development where we begin to distance ourselves in adolescence from our parents and want to spend more time with our friends. Also when Riley was experiencing her panic attack, I loved seeing her use grounding techniques as she began calming down, a technique I try and get clients to use who suffer from anxiety. Grounding is using your senses to focus your attention away from the anxiety to the here and now. Touch something, notice how it feels. Listen - what sounds can you hear. Breathe in, what smells do you notice? Etc… And taking deep breaths. When we are anxious, we take shallower breaths and hold our breath more without noticing. This pulls us away from the upper cerebral cortex of our brain where are reason and logic functions are and moved us more into our lower brain where are fight, flight, or freeze responses are. By Riley taking some deep breaths, she was bringing more oxygen to her brain to get out of the lower brain and back into the upper brain. And the overall message - deal with your emotions. If you avoid them, they increase your anxiety and negative sense of self. One thing that was a bit unbelievable to me was that Riley figured it all out on her own and as fast as she did, but it is a movie. 😎 Also, we legally become an adult at 18, but the human brain continues to develop until age 25-30. Anxiety is also not a bad thing, it serves a purpose to help us sense danger to keep us safe.

I love how the first one tackled depression, but anxiety was its own emotion in the sequel! I wonder if depression will be its own emotion if they make a third film. I loved the message that anxiety, like all emotions, is healthy, but when you’re driven by it, that’s when it becomes unhealthy. The line “I don’t know how to stop anxiety-maybe it’s true that when you grow up, you feel less joy” HIT. SO. HARD.

Glad im not the only one to think that the second one is better than the first! Riley felt like her own character more than just a way to tell a message—not that that was bad for its time, just glad to see how the team seemed to grow and evolve for the better :]

Ami

i cried when i watched the first one as a teen but i sobbed when i watched this one as an adult holding my little niece. i love it. i also think its a very powerful and important movie. thanks for the reaction

Lauren

One of my favorite representation of anxiety and what an anxiety attack is like. A tornado of emotions, paralyzing you, and that tear in anxieties eye, that feeling when everything boils over and you just break down, wanting to break free but can't and then you feel everything of who you are come together to calm you down. And then it is followed up by that moment where Joy is called out personally, for the first time we see her, personally being asked for, she want's to meet joy and after that panic attack, you find that joy in a whole new light. Love it.

Azmoz

What an amazing movie! I was nervous going into this, the first one being one of my favorites, and it was even better! Had a great time watching with you guys, easy 5 for the movie and the reaction.

Clorox bleach G

I would say as we get older, you get more complex emotions, and they all need to have their time in the spotlight, however the joy we feel IMO is more intense than when you are younger.

Kaley

Petitioning to Diamond Dave (if the October lineup is still being put together) to include “MONSTER’S INC.” to next month’s lineup. On theme with monsters but also very wholesome!

Bloop

What's crazy is that I watched the first film at 11 and didn't really understand it. Now re-watching inside out then watching inside out 2 at 20 I have such a different perspective and view of these emotions.

FatLittleButterfly

Little cameo of the Binoculars from Toy Story at the start of the movie! I love how at the end, Riley is the one in control of her emotions.

Magda Ch

It finally arrived at Disney, and I can already see your reaction guys, excellent! I love your analysis, it really is a wonderful movie that, when I saw it, I went into the theater alone and I was not going through a good time, obviously there were many tears on my part and in the end some calm, I let off steam a lot when I saw it. Pixar does not fail 🥲🥲

Kat Bland

The moment where anxiety's new sense of self is revealed and you hear the "I'm not good enough" had me and my best friend in tears when we watched it together. I think everyone has felt that way at some point in their life and it hits home so deeply seeing a 13y old girl going through that thought process. Such an important movie.

Such a great discussion at the end, that was so nice to listen to

Aliya

Love your reactions and discussions, thank you!)
