Hello everyone, and thank you for joining us on this journey. We know the debate between Subbed and Dubbed versions is an important topic in the anime community. For this series, we’ve decided to try watching The Dubbed. This decision is specific to this series only. For future anime, we’ll always consider both options carefully before making a choice. You do have the option to watch the Sub for the watch-along format as we are watching this on Crunchyroll. We truly appreciate your understanding and hope you enjoy our reactions. Thank you for being part of this experience with us!

Frank the Tank

Ready to take this journey with the crew. Let's go!

Maria

this show is soo good. I think I watched it originally dubbed, so I don’t mind 👍🏻

donna

it doesn't matter if you're watching the subbed or the dubbed version - i'm just really happy you're able to continue your anime journey! have fun with this one as well 💜

DustinEatWorld

Sadly this show was not my cup of tea..But I’m happy for all the fans here🙌 Next anime’s gonna’ be Hunter x Hunter?Right?Right??🤩😅

Lord W.

Christm-, I mean April came early!

Alex2882

So you guys were able to fallow along with aot in sub but somehow DN and FMAB are dub 💔🕊️

Silv3R2

The day has come...

PKKite

If watching dub means more anime reactions and better reactions I'm all for it. Imo most dubs especially more modern ones are at least good not straight bad like they were in the 80s-early 90s 7/10 times

HikiFan

About the 'brother' thing, it is common in countries like Japan to address a person by a title. Specially if it's a younger person to an older person. In Japanese, Alphonse calls Edward not by his name, but addresses him as ni-chan (brother) all the time.

starstrucker

Let's go! FMA is one of those series you have to see or read at least once in your life. It is one of the pivotal animated series of the early 00s! I do like the original series pacing better than brotherhood but I'm ok either way for this journey. I prefer sub but I know this dub specifically is pretty good! Im all for the guys being able to follow along easier! Especially something so serious and philosophical like FMA.

Ron Ja

YEAUHHHHH

Dora

I hope they do the first version some time. I'm guessing it's because it's not a available for streaming anywhere?

Sally Dowse

DD will there be a full length uncut version to watch along?

Seth

I very much enjoy your afterthoughts and how you guys bounce ideas off each other! The more the merrier you could say haha, but speaking of, is there a reason why Diamond Dave doesn't join you guys for these? Has he seen this and Death Note before? Some other reason, maybe? Just curious.

Knightmare

It's certainly... interesting. There's a lot to take in 😂

Low

Dub lets goooo

Fairy_Chim95

Something to look forward to after work 🤩🤩 can’t wait!

NovusIgnis

Let's goooooo dub wooooo

Rena Unnie

Never watched the brotherhood version! I saw the other version FMA (I know FMA is not respecting the storyline like FMAB does, but it was my favorite). Look a lot more goofy in the first episode XD Anyway, I don't even remember in details how FMA was in the >first< episode so I may be biaised when I say, the first episode had darker tone.

Julie

So this first episode is the only episode of FMAB that's not based on the original manga. It's sort of meant to serve as a re-intro to the series for the people who had watched the 2003 anime, while also being an exciting, action-packed intro for people who were new to the series. As a result, I think this is easily the clunkiest episode writing-wise, as there's a lot of rapid-fire exposition and somewhat forced character introductions. But I'm glad you guys picked up on the reasoning behind that! It very much is a matter of the studio trying to grab the audience's interest as much as possible. And it is a very fun episode.

TheTurtleKing420

One of my favorite shows and one of my favorite things about it is that all the backgrounds look like a painting.

JoyBoy69

Let's go!!!!!!!!!

JoyBoy69

I'm so excited I didn't know this won!!!!!!!

JoyBoy69

I love the sub but FMA brotherhood has an amazing dub!!

Crispy

AAhh shhhit here we go again :)

NovusIgnis

I think comparing the show to Avatar is a pretty decent comparison in my opinion. Most anime will actually have quite a lot of blending between the serious and comical halves of animation. Whenever yous ee funny things happening, I wouldn't take it too seriously, it's just the Japanese version of breaking reality like how Bugs Bunny does it. Also the other people can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that there isn't any after credits scenes or anything like that in this series. There will be some occasions where the credits will roll while the footage is playing, like how you saw occasionally in Attack on Titan, but you'll be able to tell when that happens to keep watching.

Jess

Holy crap this takes me back! I don't mind dub at all and I can appreciate you guys considering your options for each anime series separately... I think that's fair. I'm just so excited for you to start another anime journey!

Rafbot

So glad they are watching FMAB, I watch mainly sub, but when it comes to this and death note I always watch dub these anime that are a little older more commonly have better dubs

Obinna

Damn yall going towards the somewhat strange part of anime that turns off a lot of people who never watch anime….. Welp lets see how this goes 😂(I Iike full metal by the way)

Apollo

No Diamond Dave again? :(

Love10 ❤️

Me and my husband are here..... and READY LETS GO!!!!!

Geoff Mickel

omg im crying my favorite anime

LilithCain

FMA was the first anime that my sister and I watched. So excited!

hex1c

I guess dub is the only way they will watch anime in the future. Oh well.

Alexander Alayon Jr

I'm genuinely surprised by their take to the silly animation changes. I was worried it would be off putting to them, but I forget they did see Avatar The Last Airbender & Korra first! As someone who enjoys a balance of humor and seriousness I love animation style changes 🔥

Leif

LETS GO! Cannot wait for y’all to watch this

Steven W

Fine feathered friends and foes 🫡

Gianni

One of the best anime, and shows period! Psyched to watch you guys experience it

E A M

Glad to see you guys cover this! Are you doing uncut streamable links for this series?

Fajar Kurniawan

Hahahah these guys already get traumatized by character with white/shinning glasses

Steph

You guys are going to LOVE this anime!

Arudorin

I prefer the dub of this series over the sub. Good decision on that!

Carbon

Yes please keep asking questions and coming up with theories along the way. This is that anime. It's a bit similar to AOT in that you might get more questions with every answer you get but it's a little bit more lighthearted and has themes and lessons esp for the protags being children who've seen "hell" so young and thrust into an adult world much like The Last Airbender.

BugBite23

Hey guys! I just got to meet with the VA for Mustang! Super cool guy 😁 I got pictures and an autograph! Have fun with this one!

Dora

This is the remake. They introduced so many characters because the first few episodes of this relies on the viewer having seen the '03 version first. The '03 version follows the manga until episode 20 something then it takes off on its own story and plot. Conquer of Shamballa is my fav FMA movie that follows the '03 story line. Brotherhood follows the whole manga the whole way. Both are really good. I hope you guys get to do the '03 version sometime. :)

Diablos Cafe

I never understood the people that rant about DUB vs SUB, I watch it on both and see No problem with it

GooseToes

A few of the episodes have after credit scenes but it's not super constient. The first episode with an after credit scene is episode 6 I believe. I would look up a list for them

Roostworks

for the watchalong I got so damn so damn proud and giddy instead of streaming I pulled out my old highschool hard drive with all the episodes in it lol

Ori aviram

Nooooo but why the dubbed version? 😭😭 The original Japanese voice acting is sooo good! I wish you’d reconsider! Anyway, this is my favorite anime and I’m sure you’ll have a blast!

Luna Meow

I had to be part of Patreon again just for this journey. Haven't watch anything yet, But by series end think Oak going to be hit in the feels hard.

cozysans

don't worry about the debates in the comments, this series is amazing in everyway! cemented in the anime genre as one of the greats for sure. hope you guys enjoy :)

Srinivasan Rao

the story and plot gets so better more you watch it

Sol Garcia Ramon

I had to join your patreon just to watch FMAB with you guys😩. I love your group discussions too much to wait for YouTube cuts knowing you guys are ahead here.

Mike

I don't think this is a good anime rec for adults hahaha. Did anybody suggest Monster, Neon Genesis Evangelion, or Berserk?
