Marcus: "I won't make a mistake again". Carmy: "Yeah, you will." But not cause you're you, just cause shit happens. - That is life man that shit is real

Once again, the things Oak finds issue with are astounding to me. Lmfao. Why would you want the blue light of your phone in your face at 2 in the morning? Just asking for sleep health issues. I dunno if it's a bit. But being so judgemental about the strangest things is only serving to make Mason Quinn and Diamond Dave look all the better for their Every Man perspectives. Syd's episodes always feel very meditative to me. She has a lot of thoughts bubbling below the surface, and when they focus on her, I can really appreciate the way the tone and pacing shift. Still chaos, but more...controlled.

Oak hit the nail on the head with the reason for calling the cops. Just appeasing them over and over or breaking up fights isint what's best for the store/location. Because at the end its still dealers standing outside your buisness making them happy or not isint real change.

I knew yall would be excited for Jon Bernthal ! Can’t wait until yall get into the daredevil and punisher series some of my favorite work of his!

@21:38, and I loved what Mason Quinn said: “You're in the wrong business.” I'm going to tell you right now no job is easy or perfect; not every day is going to be great, and I had to learn that the hard way. I'm 20 years old, and I'm a vet assistant, and I work in an animal hospital. I've been there for three years, and it is my first-ever job. Don't get me wrong, I love my job and my coworkers, and I love seeing different types of dogs and cats at work. But I just know that every day isn't going to be a great day. There is chaos with emergencies, strict pet owners, angry pet owners, being behind on appointments, working with different veterinarians, being short-staffed, restarting pets, and working with angry dogs and cats. Yesterday I got my first cat bite. I was shocked because I have never been bitten before and have always been so careful when it comes to angry pets and how I look at their body language, eyes, and ears. But I learned shit like this is going to happen, and I can't control that. What I can control is how I learn from it. It’s okay to take a break and take a breath and to take a day off; I call it a (mental health day 😂). Then I go to sleep and wake my ass up in the morning, hold my head up, and do my damn job.

Here's your frame of reference for the chronological time on this show up to this point - the pilot episode of the series is set in June 2022 (the same month the show came out in the real world) a few months after Mikey's suicide, which happened on February 22, 2022 (the exact date is shown on his funeral card in the pilot episode). Richie refers to COVID in the past tense, which suggests that a few years have passed since the start of the pandemic and life is pretty much back to normal. The show at this point (S1E6) is presumably taking place around August 2022. The timeline will be a little more important later in the series.

He put the metal part on his lip, it's a trick to feel if it's hot and therefore cooked. Lip skin is very sensitive. I find it a funny detail that he dors it with a thermometer, a clever way to show he's so skilled that he can tell better this way than to wait and read the thermometer dial.

Next week's drop is gonna be amazing. Bring some TUMS.

I've never worked in a kitchen, but I've had friends who are chefs and others in the restaurant/bar industry, and I've watched and read way too much Anthony Bourdain content over the years, but the guys asking why restaurants are so toxic, from all accounts, stems from just how high pressure and stressful they are. Smoking, alcohol, and drug abuse are all pretty common in the restaurant industry because of the long hours and intensity in the kitchen, especially in higher end places. (Again, just from what friends have told me and I've read/seen from people like Anthony Bourdain.)

Another great reaction to this phenomenal show and I cannot wait for next week and the season finale. Absolutely too good and then we’re getting into some of the best TV I think I’ve ever seen which is season two of the bear

When they use the terminology 'All day', that just means thats the total amount for that one dish they need to make for that moment. Each section then knows how much they need to prepare for multiple orders rather than doing each order one at a time.

Highlight of my week!

To answer Dave's question about Carmy's hand tattoo in S1E5 without spoiling anything... there's nothing to spoil, because there is no particular significance to the tattoo, at least nothing that the audience knows about. It's kind of an irrelevant detail that I had never even given any thought to until Dave mentioned it.

Ste Rawlings

I knew going into this show I was gonna be able to count on Oak understanding what's going on with Richie.

DD is such a Syd champion and I love it. I have been looking forward to the Jon Bernthal reveal since the start, that was such excellent casting. During episode 3, they play his voice and I totally saw DD react, like maybe he thought the voice was familiar and then he did it again this ep before the reveal. The Tina/Richie scene is so good, these are my fave characters/actors just killing it. I love these reactions, guys, thank you so much.

Re: basements in Chicago, I couldn't tell you why, but most places have basement access from inside. We have a lot of garden units (basements) that folks live in because they're cheap (but prone to flooding), and they often do our outdoor access, but the main entry is usually inside the building itself. Ceres, the bar Mikey and Richie were talking about does exist and it is...something. If you remember that famous shot of the standoff between Batman and the Joker in the Dark Knight Rises, that big, illuminated building the Joker is facing is the Board of Trade, where Ceres is inside, filled with drunk finance guys. They're famous for their cheap and really heavy pours - if you order a Jack & coke, they give you a glass filled to the brim with Jack and then a can of coke on the side. 2 drinks at Ceres is like, 7 drinks elsewhere. It's surprisingly not as sad or dive-y as you'd expect it to be, but it's still A Lot. Hope y'all do a little Chicago food field trip after finishing the show and go to the real Mr. Beef! Just avoid Ceres. :)

Oaks breakdown after episode 6 was so good. Nailed it.

What chairs are you guys sitting in? They look super comfy and I want one lol

Apollo

I agree with Mason Quinn Pen & Paper is so much faster than noting stuff down your phone. :D

I’ve had more admirable leaders in the kitchen like carmy than I did the “psychopaths” of a boss Sydney mentioned. But given how stressful it gets working in one, it’s definitely the formula for creating monsters. 😬

Jeff K

It's interesting you say that, but sounds about right (as someone who has not worked in a kitchen). Gordon Ramsay recently did one of those Wired Autocomplete Interviews and one of the questions was what he thinks of The Bear, and he said it's brilliant and it pretty much perfectly encapsulates what it's like working in a kitchen. And given Gordon's fiery personality in the kitchen, you could easily see how it could create monsters (Gordon is not one; by all accounts he's actually a very nice, generous human being, but like you said, it's absolutely the recipe for creating people who aren't as naturally empathetic).

Shayna Toso

Oak is spot on post ep 6 on Richie 👏🏻 love you guys cant wait to see more!
