I can’t wait to get off work to watch this🔥🔥

Shannon

Loving the earlier posting times (great for those of us in the UK) 😁 only just watched this movie last week, guess it’s time for a rewatch! 🙌

Aub

So excited to watch this! And then Frankenstein tomorrow!!? My two fav films of the year back to back! 🫶

Metweet .c

Lockjaw ain't walk the same after she stuck that gun up in him.

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

And Benicio del Toro—this is my 3rd movie watching him. He's on my top 10 list of actors that I find are just a 10/10 for me. ❤😍😂

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

The film I give it a 3.9/5. It's an entertaining film. Leonardo DiCaprio was amazing in this, by the way; he crushed it

TingKarg

One of my favorite films of the year!

LeFlaneur

Anybody else would like to see a Sensei Sergio St. Carlos (Benicio del Toro) spinoff?

LeFlaneur

James Raterman (Colonel Danvers, the scary military interrogator character) isn’t a professional actor. He’s a retired agent from the Department of Homeland Security.

LadyReignOfDreams

As a black American woman I couldn't watch pass the first 20 minutes. I don't know WHO is writing these scripts but the over sexualization of black women and saying the craziest things I could not take it. I'm definitely not blaming the channel lol but I just was taken aback by how the movie was going! Teyana is Caribbean so I know it's a different representation versus black American but my God. This is just MY opinion, I didn't watch the full movie, so while it might've been good, I'm still shocked at the rated R stuff. Please no one take offense. Edit: The script writer is guy names Paul Thomas Anderson..... jeez that explains it . Anyways, excited to join you guys to watch the K Drama Bloodhounds!

Dana Sow

I understand your opinion but just my 2 cents from another Black women, the point of the movie is to mock political extremism & radicals. That’s why it’s turned up to the max. It’s satire.

LadyReignOfDreams

Of course! I will try to watch it another time but the vulgarity is just too much for me, especially the scripts written for us. Lol Maybe I will skip forward to another part haha

Dana Sow

Understandable. At least you were willing to give the movie a try.

Dylan Hearts

Hugely disappointed by this film, and I loved There Will Be Blood and especially Phantom Thread which were way more nuanced that this cliche on cliche masking its weakness under "smart satire" pretense. Acting wise good, music is good, but the rest is just one big mess. I can't believe that this is what critics decided to claim as a masterpiece of this year (and even the decade for some of them!) lol I agree with BM criticism, your mixed reaction to it is more than justified! Even if I rated it way lower than your generocity lol

Karissa M

Totally get why it could come off as such with regards to Teyana's character, but that's the point. Perfidia represents the type of revolutionary who's all about the cause until push comes to shove, which we see in her ultimate demise, and as confirmed in a few different cast interviews, very similar to the outcome of some individuals involved in revolutionary organizations such as the Black Panther Party. Her sexuality is used like a weapon, and she absolutely knows it especially when she meets Lockjaw. Anyways that's all I'll say, don't want to spoil too much for you! Also side note, Paul Thomas Anderson has been in a long term relationship with Maya Rudolph. There are a few moments throughout the movie where you can see he's injected a bit of his own experiences with his children. And while that obviously doesn't replace the experience of actually being black, I have a hard time believing that he wrote this script over the span of 20 years, knowing that he'd be commenting on racial issues and other tough topics without considering his own family.

LadyReignOfDreams

Yea I guess just seeing movie after movie with either the black lead female having a certain look (bald and other things, which is not a representation of black American women as a whole, to being problematic like with a scary movie they watched on here (I won't mention the name), to always over sexual is just taking a toll on me, NOT with the channel of course, just in general. And thanks for explaining, I will try to watch it. Yea he's married to a white passing black woman which that's a different can of worms, but yea. I will stick to the K Dramas LOL until other movies haha. But thanks again, I will try to watch it on a better day =)

Maisie

yeah I didn't like this movie much either (except for the time thing, which was truly funny.) The only movies I've really loved in theaters the past few months were Sentimental Value and Rebuilding.

Karissa M

Yeah that's fair! There's definitely some touchy subjects in this one and it's not for everyone, which is why at the end of the day it's great that the guys react to so many different things! We as viewers get to pick and choose the movies or shows that we connect with the most :)

Anthony Velasquez

Didn’t care for it had a weird tone from the start and never was able to move past it disappointed was looking forward to it given all the hype it was getting

blitzman08

Post watch you guys saying it "could" have been a great film, it's gonna get an oscar nomination and could very well win Best Picture. Audiences loved it and it's highly rated on imdb and letterboxd. It IS a great film. PTA is one of the greats. Everyone has an opinion, I think y'all missed on this one.

Knightmare

LOL I thought it was great until it got corny at the end. I'm not one much for straight happy endings; prefer it all bittersweet! Reminded me a lot of Civil War. And Scott Pilgrim. Movies where there's too much going on really do it for me. Badd Medicine is always introducing me to stuff I NEVER would've though to click play on 🤣 Thanks for the watch guys!

I loved this crazy ass film. The topics are so relevant, especially for the times we’re living in right now here in the USA—where fascism and white nationalism is constantly on the rise. I really appreciated the movie leaning into overt racial sexual dynamics in order to portray the inherent fetishization—especially of Black women—which was way less explicit in the novel the movie was inspired off of. I have my gripes with Leonardo so I’m ignoring him, but Teyana and the rest of the cast did their big ones. Loved Sensei and as someone else said I hope there’s a spin-off for him, he was so funny (and a smoke show). Lockjaw and Perfidia’s relationship was a joy to watch too. I loved that they kept her fascism and power kink from the book, and made clear Lockjaw’s desire of what he couldn’t have—whilst layering a dom/sub dynamic over it in a way that actually worked. His limp after their sex scene (likely from getting that gun shoved up his 🍑) and his blow-up at the DNA testing site over a “too tight” shirt read like hints of suppressed homosexuality to me. Which tracks considering how they kept juxtaposing his character—such as him working for anti-Black forces while getting off on Perfidia humiliating that very system, and him by extension. This entire film was a great political satire on extremisms and hypocrisies from both the far-right and far-left. Will definitely be rewatching this one.

Knightmare

Everybody's raving about Sentimental Value. Hopefully BM picks up on it!

Emily G

Excited to give this a watch when I get home!

Maisie

I totally hear what you’re saying. It gave me the ick in a major way.

Maisie

I hope you do get to see it; the acting is beautiful.

Maisie

Idk. I think what makes a great film is entirely open to interpretation. I like hearing their thoughts on it. I watch movies all the time in theaters and I was really disappointed by this one, because while it was stylistic and well made, it didn’t make me feel much, and the parody elements distracted from the parts that could have made me feel more.

charon23

I really liked this film. It’s a well written satire that explores some of the US most pressing and polarizing issues like immigration, racism, political extremism, and cultural division, with a comedic touch that softens the delivery without diluting the message.

Maggie B

One of my favorite movies this year! A fun fact, (once you learn it you can't unsee it) is that Sean Penn based a lot of his character, particularly facial expressions, posture and mannerisms off of Vince McMahon

micah

best of the year!

fatoumata cisse

I totally get the mixed reactions. It’s a really entertaining movie with great performances, but the tone is all over the place and it does feel like a few different movies jammed into one. Still a good watch though!

Bryan

great movie 🔥 this was also a good watch in theaters with everyone’s reactions especially the Sean Penn scenes 😂 you know a movie is good when it’s about 3 hours but doesn’t feel like it

Tomasina

Recently got a chance to meet Benicio Del Toro and he’s everything you think he is irl 😍

LeFlaneur

On thing to note when you do finish the movie (if you come back to it), there’s what appears to be a bit of self-insertion from Paul Thomas Anderson through different characters. Make of that what you will.

Katie

Just because a movie is gonna be or might be up for an oscar doesn’t mean everyone has to love it. I honestly had a hard time getting into it. I tuned out for a good bit but still found it entertaining but wouldn’t put it up there with one of the best made or my favorite. that’s my opinion

Karissa M

Agreed. I know that at the end of the day, movies and art are subjective so it is what it is, but I was hoping for just a little bit more discussion on the different themes and nuances throughout, as I know they’re definitely capable to do so, rather than focusing on the fact that there was “a lot going on.” That was kind of the point. Revolution is messy, the title itself could be interpreted as each generation passing the baton or fight to the next, and yes while there was both heavy subject matter and comedy, to me I didn’t take that as something completely out of left field, but merely a reflection of life. In my opinion, we need more movies that are able to tread that fine line between real world/heavy topics and comedy. It’s risky and yes it may not get the same reception from everyone, but I think it’s okay for movies to not always have a consistent tone, structure, etc if it can open the discussion to a wider audience. The theatre I saw this in had both late teens/young adults, some with their parents, older adults etc, with so many different opinions I was overhearing as we were leaving, which to me is the sign of a great movie…a movie that makes you THINK.

LeFlaneur

The satire is possibly the weakest part for me. Depending on what character the movie follows, it feels like we’re thrusted in a ultra-heightened reality universe that isn’t what is actually happening, while at other times, the irony, exaggerations and ridicule is actually grounded, pointed. That unevenness is a part of what makes the film so disjointed, even when the performances and cinematography are solid.

ondraya

This was one of my absolute favorite movies of the year but I can understand how jarring the tonal differences are! It's definitely a mix of satire, drama and action. It really works for me, I love these kinda eccentric and convoluted movies. I think if you guys were to rewatch with a mind ready for how all over the movie is, you might be able to digest it better.

Cody Book

Personally really enjoyed this movie. Laughed seeing Tony goldwyn as a villain though as the only things I have seen him in is the voice of tarzan and the current district attorney in law and order

Megan

If you've seen Ghost (Patrick Swayze) he was the villain in that. That's what I know him from and only recently learned (when they watched) that he voiced Tarzan. My brain couldn't handle it.

Jasmin

That was a weird movie, but pretty entertaining. 😁 Didn't know anything about it and the only thing I could think of while watching was The big Lebowski. The cast did a great job. I'm really no fan of Sean Penn, but he portrayed his character perfectly. Besides that they should have ended the movie in the car with Bob and Willa driving into the sunset. Everything else after that felt a little unnecessary.

Paul D

The guys ruin it for themselves when they try to guess what happens next or slot a movie into a particular slot/genre. Just go where the movie takes you.

Matthew Glover

The oldest guy at the group meeting of the Christmas Adventurers, was Kevin Tighe. Hes been in a ton of stuff, but one of his best roles was as the villian father of John Locke from "Lost". He was a conman, and just one of the most vile, soulless, pieces of garbage ive ever seen on tv. Kevin absolutely crushed his role in Lost,so it was cool to see him as part of the villian group with the other big timers

chris watt

this was my favorite movie of 2025

Miya

Just watched this film for a second time with you guys and yep, it still doesn't live up to the hype for me. I enjoyed it and I think there are some really great moments, themes, and acting, but overall it's just okay to me. I just feel like it's a bit middling as far as satires go and the social commentary was very on the nose. I feel like y'alls mixed reactions align with my own. ETA: I'm considering reading the Pynchon novel this movie is based on because I've heard it's a bit different from the film adaptation. If anyone's read it, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Miya

I definitely wished I had watched it in the theaters because I do think I would have enjoyed it more watching it with a big group.
