Kyle

This suppose to be episode 5?

Beca

Am I missing something? Did they already post episode 5 and 6?

Drew

7 Probably finished uploading first

Badd Medicine

Patreon isn't always the best. We always post to our website first. All the post should be available now 🤙

Beca

Okay cool, thanks! 😁👍🏽

Kyle

You're right although wierd the longest episode uploaded first. Also tbh i didnt expect them doimg all three with it being christmas haha

Badd Medicine

5x5 & 5x6 didn't post. 5x7 did for some reason. Good ol Patreon at it's best here 😂🤷

Belly

wasn’t a fan of this volume. some of the acting is really bad and i’m baffled by the choices the writers are making.

Jeff K.

So they've established now that Dr. Kay is essentially just the new Dr. Brenner, and I'm so curious to know: did they intentially give Linda Hamilton the EXACT SAME HAIR that they gave Matthew Modine? I had never noticed it until the connection was made and then I was like, "Holy shit, they even gave her Brenner's hair!"

Colleen Scott

Dustin told Steve, “you die, I die” in season 3. It was in the mall elevator and Steve was going to look at the dangerous green liquid. He told Dustin to get back and he wouldn’t. Steve didn’t say it back at that time, so it was nice hearing him say it first.

Ginger

I love the kids teacher joining the team.

Aubrey

My daughter has said this as well. Interested to hear what writing choices you're questioning.

Belly

el and will having less screen time when they’re the main characters, the eleven and max reunion was not satisfying at all, having the stancy/jancy thing last this long, jancy breaking up, jonathan not speaking to his family at all, will coming out scene being cringe and having it with everyone instead of just his family, steve just being confused about everything all the time has gotten tired, random kids having more screen time than the main party, and the show has been a lot of “tell don’t show” when they never used to do that. and that’s off the top of my head.

Belly

and about the acting, that’s mostly towards finn (mike) and millie (eleven). idk if it’s the direction or what but he’s shown zero emotion about literally everything. and millie’s botox and lip filler are so distracting. you can’t even tell what emotion she’s trying to convey.

Jeff K.

If these assholes kill Mr. Clarke I am going to hunt them down. Also: I love the fact that the first time we see Mr. Clarke (and Erica) this year, he's talking about the concept of the Einstein-Rosen Bridge... and that's literally what the Upside Down is. Before we got into the last couple episodes last night, my son asked me and my wife, "Who do you think would be the most random person to kill Vecna?" and I joked Mr. Clarke, and imagine my delight watching the episodes realizing that my joke is going to wind up being a lot closer to the actual endgame than I ever could have imagined (he won't be the one to kill him, of course, but clearly his knowledge is now massively important).

Jeff K.

Just got to the post-episode discussion and I just want to reiterate how much I love you guys for being so inclusive and open-minded and just plain old accepting and loving of everyone. I remember when I first started watching the YouTube channel (before i joined the Patreon), I commented on how refreshing it was because, I'll be honest, at that point I was purely judging a book by its cover and just saw a bunch of big gym bro "meatheads" (surface-level assumption at the time, which I know now to be 100% wrong) and made assumptions, and the reason I'll never unsubscribe or (unless I'm in dire financial straits) unsubscribe from the Patreon is the fact that I was dead ass wrong, and you guys are such incredibly thoughtful, caring, terrific human beings who clearly accept and love everyone. It's legitimately awesome and if I'm ever in the same area as any of y'all, I hope I get to buy any single one of you a beer and toast y'all in appreciation.

sarina

i’m just so happy i’m one of the people who actually loved this volume. certain storylines were wrapped up that i felt needed to be and it makes me that much more excited for the finale!! kali is definitely getting a side eye from me because she keeps calling vecna “brother” and that doesn’t sit right with me. and holly deserves so much better! that kid who called her a bitch pissed me off so much.

Lyonheart86(BryonH)

I yelled WOLVERINES !!!!!! durring the part where you called it mason quinn haha love it .. this whole final season has just been a love letter to that old skool 80s era

jann !

this!!! seeing big, strong, straight men be so comfortable and empathetic with queer storylines (enough so to even CRY) is so amazing and a big reason why i love watching these guys

Jeff K.

100%, Jann. I’m the same age as these guys, and I’m a straight white dude who goes to the gym every day, so I should know better than to judge a book but it’s STILL so refreshing.

.

Well he's not in the upside down so I think he should be safe. But we never know.

Alex

I felt the same way during my first watch of these episodes. It immediately is evident that it's no where near as powerful as episodes 1-4. But during the second time watching with these reactions it hits different. I think the problem is that we only have three episodes here, and most of these episodes are a bit slow moving because they're telling you a lot of stuff at a relaxed pace rather than the way it was with the first 4 episodes which ended with probably one of the most bad ass moments in the entire show. I think this hits this way because they didn't drop the final episode and don't until new years. They set the bar really high with how they ended part 1 and I think a lot of people expected Will to be a major asset.. And he might end up being in episode 8. who knows, but we don't get it until new year's.

MarisoL

I don't trust 8 at all. I'm worried El will take her advice and even more since Hopper planned on doing the same earlier. No bueno.

ZuZu

Guys, I can't thank you enough for posting these reactions so quickly. I had a difficult day yesterday and I watched all three episodes but I was in a bad head space and didn't really enjoy them. Watching them again with you brought back all the excitement I'd built up over three years of waiting, and let me feel the joy and emotional impact of it all. I really needed that. So thank you.

Cristy

To say I've been waiting for Mr Clarke to join the team is an understatement.

Damo

Love the reactions fellas!!! I really enjoyed Vol 1, and Episodes 5 and 6 were great... but idk I'm just not sold on episode 7 being the big setup to the grand fucking finale of Stranger Things... Acting wise idk if its the direction but Finn and Millie ain't doing anything tbh. Zero emotion in every scene. Sadie, Gaten, Caleb, and Nell are fr carrying the weight.

Corey

I agree with some of these. They don't linger on emotional moments for as long as they should or they are cut short by a joke. Also the demodogs acting like Scooby Doo was just a terrible choice. Like Season 1 and 2 had some humor but not this slap stick shit. The tone is just all over the place. I also always hate when the last season makes call backs but tells you it's a call back by showing the flashback like so much of this season keeps showing so many flashbacks and it's not needed if you trust your audience, And if you don't remember the call backs then that's on you. he dialogue is lacking because most of it is trying to do so many callbacks that aren't needed.

Stephen Hert

Loving the reactions for this season, only thing nit picky is Oaks pronunciation of Kali's name. LMAO. It's K-AWW-LEE. Can't wait fo the finale.

Stephen Hert

I'm with you! 8 doesn't sit right with me. Holly is going to be the hero we deserve I think. She's going to come in clutch. And Will finally opening up to everyone made me sob. I'm loving his character development this season.

sarina

yesss!! i hope holly gets her heroic moment after everything she’s been through! she deserves it 🥹 the scene with will was so powerful!! i’m really happy with the way they worked it into the story and it wasn’t just a random scene. and obviously the scenes with steve and dustin were amazing ways to show anger grief. i feel like it’s usually not represented in popular television. and their make up was so emotional 🥹

Zanni

Interestingly enough, I think it's okay to watch the ST play after Volume 2. But I think they're like... two versions. I just finished watching The First Shadow entire play breakdown by Michael Jae on Yt and it was actually so good

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

Hey, I don't blame Harper at all. As soon as she is on some bullshit, Harper says he is talking that shot, not hesitating, and I believe him, and I'm with him. Because I don't trust 8 either. He has been playing with people this season. 🤘

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

WTF is wrong with those kids? calling her a bitch, I was like, "WTF is going on?" I would have done the exact same thing as holly did me; I would have benn biting ankles, etc. 😂

Kaley

The moment that made me really cry was when Jonathan came over to Will, hugged him and kissed him on the cheek. I thought it was so tender and so unexpected (for me), because it’s rare to see siblings do that, especially brothers. You’d expect Joyce as a mom to do that, but for Jonathan to show his love for his brother in that way was so sweet to me. 🥹

Cranky Otter

Ugly cried at the opening scene over Max and Lucas. Good Lord this show does a number on me. And like many have commented, I do not feel great about Kali. Don’t know that she’s necessarily in with Henry/Vecna but the math ain’t mathing on her motivations. Also, Mr Clarke’s handle is Snookums 😂

Josip Buretić

I really don't know why did they bring her back I could not care less about her 🤷🏼‍♂️

Josip Buretić

I know this is for sure unpopular opinion but I also noticed that about Finn and Millie and also the whole season 5 it was good and we did have some really good moments and some very good acting moments but I am not really feeling it. And also we are now one episode from finale and we didn't lose nobody,it is the last season and I would not be against it if we lost someone from main characters every great show has that moment where you lose some great characters and you are so mad and sad at the same time and that one moment stays for ever in your mind but here till now nothing...🤷🏼‍♂️

Josip Buretić

I am glad I am not alone about that demo dogs scene that was really 🙄

Tyler Daigle

I’m glad you guys enjoyed it. It’s getting so much hate on X (of course).

chvrrvism

guys its not that hard to pronounce kali's name 😭😂

Lauren

I think people who rate this episode so low are expecting every single episode to be “epic” without realizing that character development is paramount to a finale. I think everything made sense based on what we know about the characters.

So Tired

Definitely agree with everything you said. I also want to bring up how the characters randomly have genius epiphanies, and all of a sudden they work on the first try, right on time. It starts off feeling like a coincidence, until there aren’t any coincidences anymore it’s just the writing in every episode that has an escape room.

So Tired

I'm saying! 😭 that Demo dog scene threw me off, like what was that?

Aubrey

First, I just want to say that I am so moved that the guys are willing to share their feelings and vulnerabilities with such a large audience. I think I've been around long enough at this point that I've seen them all cry, but it never stops being powerful. Second, am I the only one who thinks something is up with Max? She's trapped in Vecna's mindscape for two years, but he continuously refers to her as a fox and a monster, as if he doesn't want her there but he can't get her out. Yet, we watched him push Will out. The multiple fox references made me think of a kitsune. What if Max really is a monster, a shapeshifter ? Maybe she's just Vecna's problem, but we're so focused on Kali and not even asking how Max might have changed during her two year ordeal. She is literally as unassuming and as unthreatening that they can make her be without her being comatose, but Henry still doubled down when she escaped. There's so much that doesn't make sense here, and I don't think it's just weak writing.

Bloop

Millie's acting has been god awful this season and same with a few of the actors. I also think this season has had no direction at all with the writing and no stakes with main characters

ZuZu

On reddit, too. And it's been absolutely review bombed by hateful bigots on IMDB.

patrick

Same on tiktok. It's crazy how much people hated the episode, meanwhile it was one of my favorites

patrick

Absolutely no hate, but I will never understand why people call the Coming Out scene cringe. He's still just a kid, surrounded by so many people (which does make sense . He literally explained why EVERYONE should know). He's nervous as fuck, not only because he opens up about his probably biggest secret, surrounded by everyone. It was a perfect coming out scene in my opinion (as someone who had to go through that as well. Less people involved tho lol)

patrick

I just have to say, I am SO happy you guys enjoyed this episode and especially the scene with Will. I cried so hard seeing it the first time, I thought they handled it perfect and realistic. I was shocked to see it getting torn to shreds on social media. So it's refreshing to see you guys like it. And also, thank you for being so open minded and supportive. I knew there was a reason why yall are my favorite reaction channel for years now!

Belly

i call it cringe because of the specific words he was using. as a fellow member of the lgbtq+ community that coming out scene was horrendous. also will having to come out out of FEAR is a horrible writing choice. and the scene should’ve just been between will, joyce, & jonathan.

Chloe Smith

I really loved this episode! i don't really understand the hate from some people online, not every episode has to be full of the most epic action scenes the whole way through. i wonder if some peoples opinions will change when they see the finale. sometimes some episodes get better when they have another episode to connect with it. ive seen some people say that their opinion on the episode in season 2 when you meet kali now feels better considering we have her back in the show so it feels good to have seen her story, and then the big reveal of her coming back this season, rather than just throwing her in as "hey guys, here is this sister that youve never heard of"

Chloe Smith

You're thinking the same as me! kali definitly is making me feel uneasy, and her "plan" she told el is making me think shes going to turn on everyone and take el with her.

Chloe Smith

Also, a thank you to you, Oak: you continuously impress me (and very clearly everyone else) with how well you interpret the media you guys watch. Many people who are not part of certain groups or communities do not understand why continuous good representation is needed. Some people claim it's "all for diversity" to get in for award nominations and to have the shows talked about, but I'd say, in recent years, the majority of the time, it's not. A few times it has been done in shows, and it can be very annoying, considering how much hate those communities can get when they have done nothing wrong, and it's just the writers bringing in those characters, but writing them poorly. But when it's done with care, there are often complaints from people who are not in those groups and communities, claiming it's "shoved down our throats", but really it's just that people do not understand what it is like to have grown up and never seen an aspect of yourself in a character that is "the good guy". It can really make you feel wrong or bad, and it can plant the idea in your head that you won't be able to live happily one day. And I understand that there may be people who get annoyed by it because they feel like there are fewer straight characters these days, and I suppose yes, there are, but barely a fraction less. It's important that everyone can feel seen in media, so I don't judge anyone for their immediate response, as everyone should be given the time to grow and admit a mistake. Those people just don't know what it feels like to not see themselves in the media, so for there to be ever so slightly less straight characters than it was, let's say, 10 years ago, I can see why people might have had that reaction; it's just a very new experience for them. But I do, in my heart, always hope they can take a second to understand that they aren't right to think that. So, for a straight man to be able to watch this and understand that about sexuality despite not having lived through that exact experience, and not get annoyed, say its unnecersarry, and for it to touch you and make you appreciate it that much, it means a lot, not just to me, but to so many others. It shows a great deal of who you are, your intelligence, and your special way with words. And it's not just in recent times that you've done this; it's been since the channel started. Your words in the first reaction to season 4 over 3 years ago really saved me, and the way I thought about myself after the van scene with Will, when you said that, to anyone who is like Will, you are not a mistake, be yourself. Your reaction and discussion back when you guys checked out 'Love, Simon' also made me feel the same way. You just immediately showed such clear and genuine care and understanding; it's so amazing and lovely to see. It's so clear you are a kind and non-judgmental person, so thank you. I know there are many others who watch this content that feel the same way and have been truly touched and been given hope by your words.

Eboe Thrasher

People don't understand that character development and narrative is very important. They didn't complain when other seasons were not action all the time. I think that also, people have theory crafted so much that if it doesn't line up with what people want, then they are against it. UGH.

Eboe Thrasher

On IMDB there are more 1s than 10s, and we all know that is straight up homophobia.

Eboe Thrasher

that's the thing, those are echo chambers for hatred.

Eboe Thrasher

Kali creates a large potential plot for El killing herself at the last minute. It adds another very interesting narrative.

Eboe Thrasher

They have never killed main actors. Y'all have crafted these narratives and storylines you think are gonna happen, and when it is different, you can't deal with it. Just like all the other haters online.

Eboe Thrasher

This show is about family. Even if they kill nobody I'm fine with it, because I'm not as bloodthirsty as you all are for some damn reason. The hate for this volume of the show is so misplaced.

Eboe Thrasher

It was NINETEEN EIGHTY SEVEN. Coming out back then was a scary ass thing, that's why they had so many fancy closets. And he HAD to do it in front of everyone in order for the whole team to feel united. It was almost like a leader getting the team to rally together, but he never intended it as that. He just was tired of hiding and feeling shame. Hell, people still feel shame about it today, much less back then when they still treated it like a mental health disorder and it was legal to send you to conversion therapy camps everywhere. Kids getting ECT to try to get rid of the gay. Why are people so unfamiliar with the past?

So Tired

I understand what you’re saying, and while yes, character development is absolutely important in a finale, that’s not what most people are missing here. Stranger Things has always been a character driven show, so the audience already understands that. The issue isn’t that people wanted every episode to be nonstop action or epic moments, it’s how the character moments were handled. A lot of the criticism comes down to execution. The writing, the acting, the pacing, and even where certain scenes were placed just didn’t land for some viewers. And in the last episode of Volume Two, which directly leads into the final episode of the entire series, those things matter a lot. When scenes feel rushed, oddly placed, or emotionally undercut, the character development doesn’t hit the way it should, even if it makes sense on paper. And while it’s true that there are homophobes who rated the episode low purely because of Will’s coming out scene, which very much shows because the show has been clearly signaling Will’s sexuality since the beginning but that reveal itself isn’t the problem for most people. The other side is viewers (like me) who are genuinely disappointed because this Season carries so much weight. Being the last episode of Volume 2, people expected stronger buildup and payoff going into the series finale. So when you and others says everything made sense based on what we know about the characters, that doesn’t fully address the issue. Something can make sense and still feel poorly executed or emotionally flat.

Lauren

I agree that some of the pacing was off. I think Will’s coming out scene should have been way shorter AND happened before the epic moment of episode 4. I think some of the dialogue has been a little over the top - but I definitely don’t think the ratings should have been as low as they are. There have been some great moments in volume 2 that are being completely overshadowed by the negative review bombing, and it makes me sad.

So Tired

You are the type of fans who believe this show can do no wrong, and it’s embarrassing. People like you will sit there and even call those with genuine complaints “haters.” Don’t compare the two. There’s a clear difference between people who have valid criticisms and actual haters. The problem with this season isn’t that people wanted every episode to be nonstop action or epic moments (even though it's the last season). It’s how the character moments were handled. On top of that, the show is also full of coincidences and forced connections, which start to feel off when they become too frequent and improbable or lack a logical narrative reason. This strains believability and makes the plot feel lazy, as if the writers are forcing events to happen rather than building them organically, even if those events can technically be explained.

Bloop

Well you just answered one of the main problems of the show, they’ve never killed the main actors and that’s what makes it bad. There’s no high stakes at all as the characters we love are essentially guaranteed safety every season

Maggie B

Such an emotional episode and shout-out to the nerds who know "Mellon." Speak friend and enter!

Lucy

when will was doing his coming out speech, one thing i know is that melvads (the store where joyce goes to work) , during their time they don't sell milkshakes anymore, only in the 50's (which was henry's time) and it used to be a diner... i think it was henry's memories....

Megan

Honestly, when you rewatch the series, she was only decent in the first season. And that was basically because she had almost no lines and when she did talk, it was usually one worded answers. I don't know what she was doing with her eyebrows every time she talked, but this episode really showed her lack of skill. I think my biggest issue is that we've had about 4 years, in show, since El arrived and El has had zero improvement in speech, intelligence, or even basic understanding of concepts. There was definitely a lot of unnecessary space taken up to pad the episodes. Someone mentioned in a previous episode, but it definitely feels like they retconned a lot to try and make the story fit.

Megan

I'm wondering if Kali is team Vecna. This episode, they touched on how Vecna gets into your mind and makes you see what he wants. That's exactly what Kali does and has been doing to El. That's the only think she can do so it makes no sense for her to volunteer much less be invited to go. She's not using her power to sneak the team in and no way is she powerful enough to use her power on Vecna. I think she's trying to deliver El to Vecna. I don't get those vibes with Max but I also thought they were using her "safe house" to show us Henry. I think they just retconned to make the story fit/milk money out of spinoffs. I thought when Holly and Max were talking and they mentioned "How could Henry take his own mind" that we'd find the real Henry has been trapped and "Henry" aka Vecna has been the mind flayer this entire time. Unless I missed it, I hope the finale explains the mind flayer because they talked about it too much over the seasons to not ever do anything with it.

Megan

Same! Someone commented is was punishment for the fandom hating her/her spin off setup, which failed, in s2.

Megan

Her eyebrow wiggles when she talks was so irksome in this episode. Honestly, if you binge the show, you see she really only did decently in the first season. Of course, she barely spoke. This season, I don't know if she was just over the show or what. But yeah, her and Finn had even less chemistry than s4. I think that's why they've been separated so much, because otherwise we get...this when they share the screen. But I always watched this show for everybody else because they always carried it.

Stephanie Bedworth

As someone who grew up in rural Indiana and would have been around the same age as Will in ‘87, I can easily identify with the fear in the scene. I lived in fear all through high school of the wrong people finding out and back then, it felt like the wrong people was almost everyone. Most of the people in that scene are close to Will in some way. Every one of those is someone he would fear losing if they knew truth. That’s why it made sense to me that he told all of them if the whole point was him moving past that fear so Vecna couldn’t use it against him. If he had only told Joyce and Jonathan, then the fear of losing any of the others who didn't know would still be there.
