Aaah, I'm excited😍💚🩷I hope you enjoyed it and didn't get as confused as other reactors did😅

Hamza Lokasonur

Soo early. Not a big fan of the Wizard of Oz.....including the Wicked movies. But will definitely give it a go with you guys

Mackenzie OReally Bravo

Yall dropping the content I love SO FAST I’m not even done with the wizard of oz yet 😂❤️

Kaley

OH DIAMOND DAVE CAUGHT GLINDA’S CONFLICT FROM THE GET GO BRAVO!

Lauren

I just love it when the boys get worked up over the treatment of animals. Definitely my type of people!

Malachi Reacts

Hey NBC seems to have blocked the full reaction to this movie. Is there a chance it can get re-uploaded with a new link to it on YouTube?

Malachi Reacts

Nice 👍 but man that’s got to be frustrating to see a full reaction getting blocked even though there’s no sound and the movie is blurry 😤

Badd Medicine

I would love to blame YouTube, but this was my fault. 😂 Didn't notice until the block.

Malachi Reacts

That’s okay. You seem to be doing everything you can to make things work and I like the effort. Keep up the good work!

Olive_Sandy

‘Push her into the fire’ 😂 Mason Quinn was all kinds of angry 🤣 I prefer the second half to the first, the cast absolutely smashed it. Such a great film 🧡 Thanks as always for a great reaction.

Maisie

I'm really glad that Diamond Dave was in on this reaction to give some perspective on Glinda. She's an incredibly human character, not good or bad but both. I don't know how it's possible to see her in the wreckage of her wedding to the man she truly loves and not feel for her!

Aprille Morris-Butler

Because she DIDN'T truly love Fiyero and to say she does is a fundamental misunderstanding of her character. She loves what Fiyero represents (royalty/wealth, etc), not who he actually is. Fiyero is a status object to Glinda. She literally forces him to participate in an arranged, state sanctioned marriage. She participates (willingly) in an authoritatian government and benefits from it. That's the irony of the entire novel/musical/film: specifically 'No One Mourns the Wicked', the lyrics: 'Yes, goodness knows the wicked's lives are lonely. Goodness knows the wicked cry alone' is quite literally about Glinda, she is in fact Wicked, when the play ends, lol.

Kollie123

Mason Quinn when Glinda just wants to vibe and be part of the 1% with everyone she loves: 😡

Anthony Velasquez

Glad you guys turned the corner there on Glinda in the end i will push back on MQ take of why Elphaba dying was not needed she said it herself Glinda can do everything that Elphie wants but cant do because Glinda has the platform to do it whereas Elphie came to a realization that the people of Oz will probably never listen to her so she had to “die” to push that good defeats evil

Anthony Velasquez

Of course the end is open to interpretation the only thing leaves me not to think the Elphie opened the book to let Glinda know she was alive was the fact that Elphaba said not long before that Glinda doesnt know we are alive and she cant know either seems like a weird thing to do when you just had that dialogue few minutes before so maybe the book opening is Glinda tapping into a bit of magic

Maisie

I think that’s true to an extent, but the movies actually inserted a line that I think was really important. “I don’t even think he’s perfect anymore and I still want him.” Glinda initially wanted him as a status symbol, but she does, imo, genuinely come to love him. She genuinely wants him to be happy. After he betrays her and puts a gun to her head, she still wants to protect him. Also I don’t think she actually forced him into a marriage in the musical, though I could be wrong. I haven’t seen it in years, but my memory of it was that he bowed to expectation but proposed himself. She didn’t surprise him, which is a change that I didn’t like (assuming I’m correct.)

Anthony Velasquez

1st movie had the better songs to me dont get me wrong No Good Deed and For Good are great but none songs in the 1st movie missed

Maisie

I always thought Glinda knew Elphaba was alive. I mean, she has to know water wouldn’t kill her! Did Elphaba not take a shower the whole time they were at school?

Anthony Velasquez

Sure but they never really showing any kind of sign that Glinda knew she was alive but was keeping it secret to herself

Ginger

Now you need to react to Return to Oz and Oz The Great And Powerful.

Alex

I noticed the list of recommendations and this was pretty high up on the list when I ordered it by votes, it may have even been at the top. How often do you go in and do a reaction from that list?

Alex

I think they need to do Star Wars for Diamond Dave. I can't believe he hasn't seen Return of the Jedi and I'm assuming he hasn't seen any of them, given that he definitely would've if he saw the earlier ones.

Shannon

Kudos to Answer’s poker face throughout 😂 loved rewatching this with you guys and so glad you all got it 🙌 also agree with Oak, I love part 2 even more than part 1 (though in the stage show it’s the opposite for me- first half is much more enjoyable). Good luck using that line tonight DD 🤣

Badd Medicine

If I’m understanding you correctly, we’ve actually been using our recs page a lot, pretty much since the site was created. That’s why we encourage everyone to submit recommendations and use the upvote feature so we can see the level of interest. That said, a high number of recs doesn’t automatically mean something will be watched the very next month, because we also try to keep the genres varied. Hope this helps.

AD1928

Went to see Part 2 in the theaters, and as I live in a small town and opening week was over, there was only one other person in the theater with us. 😆 Re: Oak's comment about some people not being happy with this film, I noticed that the critical reviews were less positive for this one, but I definitely enjoyed it!

Lauren

Let’s just give a standing ovation for the lyricist, Stephen Schwartz. All of the double meanings and foreshadowing in the songs were so clever. Also, the movie’s whole message was the power of smokescreens and perceptions - like the Wizard sang in “Wonderful.”

Aprille Morris-Butler

I can acknowledge the movie added line, but wanting someone still doesn't equal loving them. I DO believe she cares for Fiyero (in much the same way she cares for Elphaba, they were all friends initially), but she never cares about ANY of her friends enough to want to evoke change for them while they're still there to experience it (remember that Glinda winds up thinking everyone is dead). It shouldn't take the death of all of your friends for you to realize that what you've been aligned with/working towards is wrong. All of the characters (in both film and play) are fundamentally flawed (even Elphaba's solutions are not well thought out), but Glinda's behavior/betrayal is perhaps the worst BECAUSE she knows and cares for both of them and still doesn't choose to punish a system that actively harms them all, and she actively encouraged a system that sought the death of her best friend, while utilizing animal labor. I don't know if you have any marginalized identies, but I do and that deeply impacts the way I read Glinda (especially given Elphaba's experience is initially based off of the Jewish experience and then she's played by a Black woman).

Kollie123

The 2nd act of wicked in general is not as widely liked by people overall, the writing kinda does pretzels to fit into the lore and events of the wizard of oz while the part 1 events are allowed to mostly breathe and be its own story

nessa

yayyy !!

Maisie

I do have marginalized identities. I can absolutely see how that would affect the way you see her character. I think I tend to view her character on a more individual level, like her personal struggle, but I can also see how she is complicit and what the historical implications of that are. I do think we need more stories about characters choosing to change for the better, even belatedly. Especially now. I've also never believed that Glinda truly thought Elphaba was dead, which changes the way I interpret her a bit. (I mean, she knew water wouldn't kill her! They were roommates! Did it never rain at that school? Did Elphaba not take a bath that whole time?)

Aria Isara

I love it when MQ gets angry at characters 😄

patrick

Most people like the first half/first movie song-wise more, but I absolutely love the second half, mainly because No Good Deed. Its, imo, the best musical song ever and they absolutely crushed it, my breath gets taken away every time I watch the scene! And the two news songs (Girl in the Bubble and No Place like Home) are almost as beautiful/heartbreaking. I'm so happy you guys enjoyed it. Not gonna lie, this might be my favorite movie reaction from you. The way yall were invested😂 and I loved how quiet you were during GitB and how emotional during For Good, and the absolute HATE towards Madame Hor- I mean Morrible😂 Absolutely loved everything about this. If I were to give it a score, it would be a 5/5 answers.🙂‍↕️🩷💚 (btw, pleasantly SHOCKED at seeing Diamond Dave give it a 5)

Kollie123

There’s a lot of ways it could’ve happened, Magic water, Elphie could’ve just straight up killed herself in the moment(she was pretty much talking like she was making a self sacrifice to pave the way for glinda to fix Oz) Plus Glinda isn’t exactly the deepest thinker at times, although I’m pretty sure in the original book water is actually harmful to her, so that might just be a weird hold over not thought over well between the book and play

LiveLaughLoveZonZon

I don’t think I have ever seen Diamond Dave give such a high score. 😱

Lilli

Ya'll really didn’t understand the complexity of glindas character, kinda disappointing

Olive_Sandy

Honestly he had me cackling with his comments 😭

Elisbeth Vélez

Watched this while working this morning, thank you so much and happy new year guys!!

I'm Batman

This was good, I much prefer the 1st movie though, the songs were just better in my opinion. My main critique on this movie would be the Dorothy stuff just didn't work for me personally, felt like it didn't belong. I would've liked it more had they not included her, because like one of y'all said "This isn't a story about Dorothy it's about Glinda and Elphaba". Just my opinion on it, still enjoyed it though, just not as much as the 1st movie or the '39 movie. I'll give this a 4/5 though.

So Tired

41:46 - 42:00 I'M CRYING!!! 😂 Answer & Dave can't hold it together. 🤣😂😭

Coco chanel

Still waiting for in the heights 😭😭

Alanna Meyers 🍌

DD and Oak during As Long As You’re Mine at 1:15:12 has me dying 🤣

Anthony Velasquez

Yup I remember when I watched in theaters I lost it during For Good Ariana and Cynthia chemistry is unreal

Charity Konusser (the chonus)

The director said the book opens for Glinda because she is finally Good, and therefore worthy to learn and practice magic. Note that while both the Wizard and Morrible made comments in the first film about trying to read it, it only *opened* for Elphaba. The fact that it opened for Glinda is the conclusion to her character arc.

Charity Konusser (the chonus)

I disagree. In the first movie, on the train platform, she confesses to Elphaba that she wants Fiyero - *even though she no longer believes he's perfect*. "This must be what other people feel like -- how do they bear it?" She does love him -- it's just a one-sided love.

Aubrey

Man, I think this might be the most animated I've seen Quinn during a reaction, and I loved that, for once, no one guessed the big reveals (kudos, Answer!). Dave, I think the darker version of this would be the actual book. I couldn't finish it. I saw the musical 12-ish years ago and went in totally blind. I almost ugly cried during Defying Gravity, which was super embarrassing when the lights came up for intermission! I enjoyed part 1 of the movie but actually skipped seeing part 2 in theaters because of the bad reviews. Now I kind of regret it. When it's split like this, there just doesn't seem to be a lot of pay off in part 2. We're happy that Elphie and ol' Two Door are alive, I guess, but it doesn't feel like much of a victory. Still, I can't wait to have a weekend where I can watch them together. I bet it's awesome.

Knightmare

The downgrade in music in the second act is one of the worst mid-show quality drops in broadway history imo 😭 Cynthia and Ariana carried HARD with how great their voices sound and I'm so grateful for that LOL

Marie RammGirl

Quinn's distain throughout the movie was just as amusing & entertaining as in the 1st movie & his reactions to the big twist at the end was gold! & DD's headphones falling off after what he said from writing down "I feel wicked line" & Answer "his hot & bothered, his excited & Quinn's just watching" was my favourite moments from this reaction 😂 epically cool seeing all the origin stories of our characters featured in the original Oz movie & how genuine Elphaba/Glinda's friendship was to the very end, yay for the Matt Hardy reference & Elphaba channelling her inner Eric Rowan with her "RUN!" line & all your reactions to all the other great moments/scenes in this movie was a joy to watch! ❤️

Gerudo-san

I hope Mason Quinn never reads the Wicked novel 😅

enyo96

With all due respect, I don’t think you understand how much breath control and core strength you need in order to do the things *Ariana is doing in this film. Nobody who’s ill could do that, they’d pass out trying to. Both Ariana and Cynthia are masters at vocals, and both work out extremely hard in order to achieve those sounds while also corseted and moving around, which is not an easy thing to do. Please do not comment on a woman’s body.

Victoria

I understand how you feel because usually, as viewers, people tend to want to see good and bad clearly separated. What is interesting about this film, and why it clashes with many people, is that there are characters who are neither good nor bad, they are grey, like Boq or Nessa. But Glinda is the perfect example of this. So I understand that Answer was constantly feeling frustrated hahahaha. Because the others implied, as subtext, that they hated Glinda or blamed her for everything, because you have to understand Glinda’s reasoning. It is not simply a matter of saying, “if she does not do this, she is a coward,” or “if she does this, she is brave.” No. In fact, something I think many people have not understood about the ending is that Elphaba gives up because she knows she cannot win. The system is built in a certain way and, honestly, whether we like it or not, the best way to change it is from within. And Glinda has the greatest power that can help the most in this situation, which is that people admire her, people adore her, she is good at being liked. But deep down, Glinda had not done this before because, even though it may seem otherwise, even if you think she is a narcissist who believes she is better than everyone else, all of that is a cover for the fact that she is actually the character with the lowest self-esteem in the entire film. She believes she is useless, she is fully aware that her entire image is based on lies, but for her own survival and mental health, she pretends day after day that this is not there and shuts her eyes to it, which is exactly what she later tells herself in the song Girl in a Bubble. That is why she had not acted before. But meeting her, Elphaba, and going through everything she has gone through, makes her realise it, especially at the end, when Elphaba tells her, “Now it depends on you. They need me to be wicked so that you can be good, and you are the only one who can save everything now. I cannot.” Because it is true. People criticised Glinda in the first film for not leaving with Elphaba, but what exactly was Glinda supposed to do if she went with her? She cannot fly, she has no powers. Her only superpower is that people like her and that she finds it very easy to win others over, and that can only be used as a power from within the system. I do not know, sometimes I wish people were not so black and white when watching films and did not always feel the need to find the good one and the bad one (notice, that is what Morrible and Oz want people to do because it works to control the mases) because all these nuances get lost along the way. And that thinking looses the meaning of the story.

Alanna Meyers 🍌

That’s exactly why I don’t pay attention to reviews. Depending on where you live, you might still be able to see it in theatres.

Aubrey

@Alanna There is a theater still showing it here. I’m hoping it lasts one more weekend as we’re going to see The Housemaid today.

Al

You guys really need to watch Bridgerton soon.🤞 Jonathan aka Fiyero plays a big part in the show & he’s so good in it. Plus the new season is set to come out soon 👀

Maisie

👏💯

Angie Woodson

Excellent reaction, gentlemen. Quinn hating everybody just sent me and then the return of "Two-Door". 🤣 And I appreciate Diamond Dave's nuanced take on Glinda early. Quinn's general dislike is fair, though. It's good to see both viewpoints because Glinda is very human. Criticisms of her choices are very much warranted, but her motivations make them understandable (not necessarily right, just logical). Oh, and Oak still finding Fiyero hot post-transformation? 🤣 Relatable

enyo96

Yes!! Glinda has many many layers, just like Elphaba. Also having a mother say to her child “the only thing you’ll ever need is for people to love you” is horrible, and such a bad message to tell a child. No wonder she grew up wanting so badly to be liked by everyone

Bambi

This was a great reaction! Would love to see your reactions to Bridgerton as you guys was hilarious during the Fiyero Elphaba scene 🤣 I also agree I could never understand why they couldn't team up against Madam Morrible but assumed it was because they didn't have the Flying Monkeys power or something, or that she was more powerful or something magically?

Amanda Diaz

yess to this. i voted for them to watch on their website.

Alysha

Excellent reaction. I AM SO HAPPY YOU ENJOYED IT. I knew i could count on this group to enjoy these movies for what they are and understanding the storyline and characters. Thank you for making me enjoy watching this again <3 Adding this reaction to the list of comfort movie reactions i can always go to!!!!

Amanda Diaz

i hope one day yall react to Bridgerton, one of the main character is Jonathan who plays Fiyero. yalls reactions between Fiyero and Elphaba scene was hilarious lol

Jayme Riemer

Loved your reaction…PLEASE PLEASE watch Bridgerton! It’s so amazing and Jonathan Bailey is so great in it!
