Ohhh my gaaadd its here!!! Thanks for the upload guys!

Now this is what I call a season finale! ✨

gen

I’ve never been this early hahahaha

Zoe S

Thanks Diamond Dave, can’t wait to watch🥰

gen

Also, I don’t think this is a spoiler just my own personal opinion but I do think the third episode of each season tends to be the best episode of that season

Jeff K.

I hated Andrew Scott’s performance the first time I watched this, but I’ve grown to really enjoy it (helps that I’ve become much more familiar with him as an actor and really enjoy him in general).

StephMurph

Andrew Scott's performance as Moriarty is one of my favorites!

Jeff K.

Seeing young Andrew Scott here, and having recently seen him in Wake Up Dead Man, I hope sometime down the road the guys will check out Fleabag. He's so good in that show.

StephMurph

I'm still hoping the guys will do His Dark Materials at some point

Chris B

Seconded. Fleabag is sooo good!

CeeEl

So excited for Scandal in Belgravia 🖤

Lauren

Things in this episode that are also in the books: 1. Sherlock mentioning that he doesn’t care about the earth revolving around the sun 2. Homeless network 3. The case of the orange pips 4. The case of the Bruce-Partington plans

Gem

WE HAD TO WAIT YEARS BETWEEN SERIES!

Jecxxy

Yeah and middle eps is like a not the best so i think they can have lesser expectations on the 2nd ep

Walker 4IB

18 months we had to wait for series 2... 18 MONTHS.

Cari

I only started this show because of the guys and I am now a bit ahead. Just watched this episode last week and loved it. Probably my fave episode so far! Honestly not sure why I slept on Sherlock all these years.

CeeEl

It's my favorite in the series. I still rewatch it from time to time.

Lauren

I love it, because it’s intentionally a contrast to Sherlock’s stoicness. They’re yin and yang, so it makes sense.

Lauren

Also, they’re going to develop Sherlock’s character a lot…particularly with his relationship to John - one of the best aspects of this show.

Jeff K.

Oh for sure. It was just jarring the first time I watched the show because I absolutely was not expecting that performance (which I assume was part of the point), but by the time the second season rolled around, I got on board and loved it.

Daughter is sleeping. Mom is clicking play, with coffee. Thanks guys for this wonderful afternoon!

About Sherlock shooting the wall, keep in mind that this is set in England, where guns aren't really used here. I'd probably assume it was something else, simply because I couldn't imagine it being a gun xD America vs England differences hahaha

Natacha P

This exactly. If I hear a loud bang, I assume someone's car backfired 😂

patricia jimjimcherie

Something I think a lot of people miss: when John arrives after staying at Sarah’s. Sherlock says “how was the lilo?” And Mycroft, quickly, corrects “it was the sofa, Sherlock, the sofa.” It’s easily missed, but keep it in mind.

Zoe S

Ye I agree they never seemed to grab my attention as much but I do like middle ep on season 3😊

Charity Konusser (the chonus)

Jeff I'm with you - since this is *all we get* of Moriarty in the first series, the first impression is of a character who's not fascinating, but rather all over the place. In retrospect it's a better performance.

Charity Konusser (the chonus)

So annoyed that the captions were wrong in the pool scene; it ruined a fun moment. When John says he's glad nobody saw Sherlock ripping his clothes off at the pool, and then he says "People would talk." Sherlock replies "People do little else," and then they share a little laugh, but the captions say Sherlock's line is "You do little else," which makes no sense and ruined the moment. I know that's a tiny nitpick but super-annoying to me anyway. Moriarty is in exactly two Sherlock Holmes stories out of 60 total (56 short stories and four novels), and we're not given much about him other than his age and appearance. The version of Moriarty in this show is entirely a creation of the writers and the actor Andrew Scott (who you've just seen in Wake Up Dead Man as the sci-fi/fantasy author). Nobody in London would think they'd heard gunfire, since guns are illegal in England, so no one would have called the police. Regarding Sherlock's emotions - he certainly had an emotional reaction to John being in danger, but only after Moriarty exits (the first time), which allowed Sherlock to release control of his emotions. I love Cumberbatch's performance in the pool scene - beautifully telling. Giving the memory stick to Moriarty in exchange for John's life - if he truly didn't care about people, as he told John he didn't earlier in the episode, I don't believe he would have endangered the country, no matter how clever his opponent was. i think he was expecting to meet Moriarty and also defeat him. But with John in danger, he handed it over without a moment's hesitation. My favorite moment at the pool is after Moriarty returns and says he's going to kill them both, Sherlock glances at John, and John gives him a very small nod. John knows what Sherlock is going to do (aim his gun at the bomb), and agrees that he should do it. That's the kind of writing and character work I wish for in every show I watch.

2026-09-06 11:00 I feel like him shooting the wall is way less dangerous in the UK because they actually have walls made of concrete. I think it’s important for his character too as it reveals that he is a bit unhinged when he is feeing impulsive and bored. “One day we’re going to be standing around a body and Sherlock is going to be the one that put it there” type of sentiment that Donovan said in episode 1.

Not concrete - 221b Baker Street is a Georgian terrace townhouse made of brick. Shooting a brick wall could be dangerous as the bullet might ricochet.

This is my favorite episode of series 1. The introduction to Moritary is still one of my favorite scenes of the whole show. What a fun and unhinged villain he is. I love his portrayal here. Cannot wait for series 2! It's probably the best one out of all 4 IMO. Glad you're enjoying it guys!

Matthew Glover

Really enjoying the series as a whole so far,but the performance from Moriarty's actor just really took me out of it. I never read the books and ive only seen the RdJ movies,so i dont know how exactly the character is supposed to be. But i just didnt like the acting, not so much the version of him,but just the acting itself. I think i just prefer the more reserved, mature, and i guess professional version of him in game of shadows that we saw. Maybe the character will grow on me,but i did love the episode as a whole. Its been really entertaining and as always, loving your guys reactions and discussions!

This was a fascinating & intensifying finale! when I first saw Jim, I thought Molly brought him to the lab purposely to try invoke jealously from Sherlock, the subtle little interactions they have with each other has been intriguing, true he could've done it in a more gentle way, but I think Sherlock did the right thing in telling her cause like he said he saved her possible wasted months & pain. some of the dialogue like "Mr Ewart's a liar" (Quinn) "well he is a car salesman" "who are you? Sherlock Holmes, am I supposed to be impressed? you should be **drops jacket* were gold! (as was you reactions to it) that running did have Steven Segal vibes to it haha! & liked Quinn's side look smile when DVD's mentioned hehe & yay for the Hobbit reference too! also just so you guys know, Oyster Cards are used on Train/Bus rides & your journey price is alot cheaper than keep buying single tickets. Great writing there, give us a big reveal at end & then leaving us hanging.

Alex

Don't forget to watch the special episode The Abominable Bride between season 3 and 4!!!

Sammy

Oak’s criticism really caught me by surprise 🤔 It’s a murder-mystery show - of course people die 😶 It wouldn’t be much fun if there was no real danger and the heroes always saved everyone 🤷‍♀️ As for the gunshots, don’t forget the show’s set in England, not the US 👀 Not trying to get political, but over here in Europe guns aren’t part of daily life. We don’t automatically think “gun” when we hear a loud bang. (I’d probably only get scared if I heard rapid fire like a machine gun.) I looove this portrayal of Moriarty. A genius like Sherlock, but opposite in every other way 🕵‍♂️ The criticism of the 2nd episode is fair. I like some parts of it, but the villain ruins it for me. Her speaking pattern is just so weirdly theatrical 🫠 I always skip this episode when I do a re-watch binge 😄

Gem

I think that's why Andrew Scott (and the creators) decided on this version of Moriarty. We always see him as some sort of restrained, upper class, business-man type. This subverts that and just has a lot of fun with the character. Give it a chance and hopefully it grows on you!

Alina B

Almost all of the Sherlock Holmes stories were written by Conan Doyle from the perspective of Dr. Watson. Therefore, the blog that Watson writes about Holmes in the series is another reference to the original stories.

Matthew Glover

His facial expressions and abrupt change in tones were really dramatic lmao i was laughing at some of it,but some of it felt just a little too over the top for my taste. I enjoyed some of it,so we'll see if it does grow on me,hopefully so!! And im pretty sure this is the first time ive ever seen this actor (Andrew Scott). But hey, atleast the guys were loving it for the most part lol

Marie RammGirl

just in case that last sentence comes across as sarcastic, not my intention at all, I meant it in a complimentary way :)

Megan

Yeah the acting for Moriarty fell flat for me. I think the actor used his real Irish accent (from what I looked up) but his vocalizations were all over the place. It felt like a bad attempt at being the Joker.

Megan

Still not a fan of it, it takes me out of the show. Maybe I'll view it differently on this rewatch (haven't seen the show in years) of the upcoming season but I remember constantly wanting him off the screen.

elena

Is this the first time we see Andrew Scott on this channel?😍 I would love to see a what you guys think of Fleabag, it’s veryy short and I feel like you guys would love it!

Jacqueline Hahn

Ok, couple of things. We had to wait TWO BLOODY YEARS for the resolution to this! TWO YEARS!!!!!! It was torture! Secondly, when Holmes starts saying "Dear Jim, please can you fix it for me...." unfortunately he's referencing a massive UK programme from the late 70s & through the 80s called Jim'll Fix It, where people, mainly kids, would write to a guy called Jimmy Saville with wishes that the programme would then fulfill. This programme is from 2010. Saville died in 2011, and afterwards it came out that he was one of the UK's most prolific sexual predators. He really was utterly vile, and the scandal about who knew how much about his proclivities reached the government and beyond.

Nicole Mazza

Yeah, I REEEEEEAAAALLLY hate this version of Moriarty. I still love the show on the whole, but just have never vibed with him, even all these years on.

Briseph

Came to patreon for more Sherlock- and WOW your website is so cool! So much nicer watching there than on patreon, linking up your patreon account is brilliant. Would love to know the bts, how you guys put it together / found someone to make something like that. Kudos 🙌
