Yay! Been waiting on this!

Marie RammGirl

Looking forward to watching this with you lovely lads later! 😊💚❤️💙

This is far from the WORST episode, but it's the one that disappointed me the most because it's such a great Sherlock story and I just didn't love this adaptation. But that's also on me, because it's arguably the most famous Sherlock Holmes novel, so I hyped it up probably beyond what they could have realistically pulled off. Still looking forward to watching the reaction, of course! EDIT: finished the rewatch, and yep, I liked it better this time now that my expectations based on my love of that story have been pushed to the side.

I only watched this episode once when it first came out, while I've watched the other episodes in seasons 1-3 multiple times. I'm hoping it's better than I remember!

Attila Sági

This is defenately a step back from the previous episode but the s2 e3 is the best in my opinion so dont worry guys

This is one of the most famous Sherlock Holmes novels - The Hound of the Baskervilles. And my favourite. There are many film adaptations. Of course, it is impossible to completely transfer this story to modern times. But I think the plot is good, and the creators did their best to convey the gloomy mood of the story. And the small details with the real dog, the attempted murder of Baskerville, the mystical mood. But the swamps where Stapelton died are better than a minefield. And the family story ( legend) was missed. After all, knowledge of the Sherlock Holmes novels adds colour and detail when watching the series, as you see details that are invisible to those who have not read the them.

Lauren

Answer laughed at “brown as a nut” but that’s an actual line from the books! And it’s worth noting that Sherlock Holmes did have a drug addiction in the books, I think cocaine or opium. It helped him think. So this episode highlights that. And the “mind palace” sounds goofy but is an actual thing.

Jeff K.

Yeah, I feel like I remember opium but can’t recall, but he was FOR SURE a massive coke head in the books.

Lauren

There was a case where he went into an opium den, but I can’t recall if he used.

ThetaSigmaTheOriginal

The shot the dog because it was about to dive on them. In that situation I'd do the same, and I love dogs.

Jecxxy

Tbh this is the episode that I am not excited to watch. I always skip it on my rewatch

wes

Also shooting again makes sense as it already had been shot and wouldn’t survive long anyway

In the interest of Oak's and Mason's sexual nomenclature correctness: "Shagging" and "dogging" aren't exactly the same. Dogging is specifically sexual activity in public, usually with strangers. Shagging is just another word for having sex. Hope that helps ;)

Jecxxy

Rewatching it with you guys makes this episode enjoyable. Great reaction

Shubham

Please read the original “The Hound of Baskerville” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. This episode is a kind of tribute to that. But the original novel is so so good!!

Marie RammGirl

Mason Quinn may owe me a new PC monitor, spat my drink out in laughter all over it when he mentioned the phrase "dogging/shagging" 😂 (but it's true we do use that slang term for it hehe) your Quinn-Stincts were on point with this one! & agree with Oak/Answer that Quinn would look good in a Sherlock hat ;) the dialogue & your reactions to it never fails to amuse us "cheekbones/collar" & way Sherlock said "Greg" were great & I ALWAYS enjoy your reactions to British terms, I first thought the effects of nicotine withdrawal was the reason for Sherlock but turns out it was an hallucinogenic drug, another intriguing episode full of mystery & twists.

Mari

This episode always surprised me with Benedicts delivery whenever he goes off explaining something. Damn those stuff are so long. Idk how he memorized it. One of the reason why I really liked him as an actor (and his cheekbones) even before he became big in Star Trek and Marvels.

Muppetlord

Honestly probably my least favourite episode, even S1E2 is better because it ties to the big story. It gets better.

Lauren

I know; I’m just reinforcing that it’s true to his character.

This episode is great. After Sherlock, you guys should do Luther. Just to keep on theme!

KJ

Like others, this is my least favorite episode despite it being one of the best known

I used to love Sherlock so much a few years ago, I had a shirt with that 'I Am Sherlocked' from last episode! I mean I still love it but haven't really watched it in a while. So it's great to revisit it with you! And Sherlock always reminds me of how back then everyone was into the three shows Doctor Who, Sherlock and Supernatural. There really was some 'Superwholock' fandom over on tumblr and other sites... so basically after I watched Sherlock I fell into the rabbit whole and watched both Doctor Who and Supernatural. And I highly recommend both of those shows. They are pretty long like Doctor Who has currently 14 seasons (if you only count from 2005 and not 1963...) and Supernatural ended with 15 seasons. But I highly recommend those shows and every time I look for reactions I secretly wish you guys would just watch them, I really like your reactions and insights and discussions. :)

Gem

Ah yes, Quinn is correct...watching people have sex in cars is a Great British pastime we call 'dogging'.
