Also now I can say Egg was mentioned in Game of Thrones by his brother Maester Aemon of the Night’s Watch. His last words were “Egg, I dreamed I was old.”

Also to add in the first episode when Egg says "my lord" instead of "mi'lord" it shows he's highborn (like another GoT character who did the same). His insane knowledge of Westerosi houses just went completely over Dunk's head that was hilarious.

Bit of a family tree for you guys Daeron "the good" (current king) 1st born Baelor "breakspear" who we see in the show as hand of the king 4th born Maekar is the other older targ who was in the last episode. Baelor's 1st son Valarr (dark haired prince) Maekar's 1st son Daeron (the drunk targ) Maekar's 2nd son Aerion "brightflame" ( the bad targ) Maekar's 4th son "Egg" The song egg sings is about Daeron the good's bastard brother Daemon Blackfyre and a rebellion he started to try to claim the throne

No Spoilers: Info that we have already seen in the show. The first episode the drunken man in the inn paid with a Targeryan coin and we havent seen him since, meanwhile Egg is in the stables. We then learn Maekars two sons are missing. So they do foreshadow it without outside knowledge.

I've been waiting for this reveal, as someone who's watched game of thrones many times I've heard of Egg from a certain person at The Wall. I was wondering if the show runners would drag the reveal out but I'm glad they got to it relatively quickly.

Here are all the fun facts about egg's song he was singing in the tree!! Lyrics: "Prince Baelor was the first born Prince Maekar sprang out last..." - Order of current kings (King Daeron II a.k.a. Daeron The Good) sons "Daemon was the bastard, so they kicked his bastard..." - Daemon Blackfyre is one of the many bastard half-brothers of the current King (and technically also his cousin because the previous king had Daemon with his cousin and not his lawful wife...) "Grass is green in summer, green grass I adore But grass is red all over when you kill a rebel..." - 13 years before this show an event called the Blackfyre Rebellion occurred. On his deathbed, the previous King (King Aegon IV a.k.a. Aegon The Unworthy) legitimized all his bastards, making them candidates for the throne. His rightful heir, King Daeron II, was crowned shortly after Aegon IV's death so this rebellion took place a few years already into his reign. The rebellion lasted a year and was ended at the Redgrass Fields with King Daeron II keeping his title. (okay long fictional history lesson over) "Horses die in battle This battle was the front Blackfyre’s not a trueborn, he came from the wrong Country was in peril, The Anvil was a rock The Hammer smashes the bastard with his giant veiny Host of Dornish spearmen ~~~~" - The battle at the Redgrass Fields was said to have ended when Prince Baelor (The Hammer) closed in on the rear of the rebellion forces with his host of Dornishmen while his younger brother Prince Maekar (The Anvil) held a steady front line to which the rebels were crushed, or hammered, against. There's definitely a lot of details I left out about why the rebellion occurred and such but this is just a little rundown to understand the key points. So in summary, the song Egg sings is about how his dad and uncle won the last major conflict in Westeros!

some hints to Eggs identity in episodes 1/2/3 - when the Targaryens arrive in ep 2, he leaves in a rush - in ep 1, he refuses to answer being an orphan - at the end of ep 1, he says hes from Kings Landing but not Flea Bottom - in ep 3, when Fossoway comes up Egg hides his face - in episode 2 he states “Baelors son” not “Prince Baelor” or “the hand’s son” he talks about him with no care for rank cause it’s his uncle. - theres a fun quote in GOT by the iconic Tywin Lannister but essentially highborns say “my lord” while the small folk say “m’lord” and Egg says the former and Dunk says the latter

(No spoilers except slight GOT and just speculation) To anyone who said that y’all should “know” who egg is, is kinda going a bit far. He’s mentioned once in a scene in season one and I think another time in passing as maester aemon is dying. He’s never someone you actually meet and is never mentioned in thrones again. He is Daenerys’s great grandfather so pretty far removed and if you don’t remember those small details then you’d be surprised. The fun part is we do know that he does become king because maester aemon said he said no to the crown to be a maester and then it went to aegon. What I didn’t know until this show was that maekar wasn’t first in line to throne. This means baelor (who helped Duncan) and his son valaar die and their other brothers because maekar is the youngest. Then maekar must die then his son daeron, and this evil sob aerion until it gets to egg. So like crazy crazy and highly unlikely odds for him to be king and not a wonder he was so shocked when the fortune teller lady said so , like that’s more than 6 people dying for the throne to get to him. Also let me make it clear that like I don’t know what happens to all these people or like what happens to make egg king because like I said I thought that maekar was next in line and he was just a youngest son who happened to be king but really he’s the current king’s nephew and had cousins in line before him and brothers and his own father, so who knows and maybe this show will tackle that

Really enjoyed all the scenes & dialogue between Ser Duncan/Egg this episode, especially the discussion about the 'Alice' song (your reactions for it was great too) I'm in the same boat as Quinn/Oak only seen GOT once years ago so its hard to remember details, so was a surprise to me about the big reveal with Egg, I thought he was an Orphan or runaway from a bad life, really can't wait to see how this plays out now.

Egg was always avoidant to higher houses especially targaryens. In game of thrones egg was mentioned maybe one time by name so don’t feel ashamed. These fans have watched the series tons of times and probably read the side books or watched lore videos. (I’m these fans)

I knew there was something dodgy with egg cause he kept eyeing them and not wanting to go near them. I absolutely hate people that say "how dont you know who that is" or "you should know that person". We ain't all geeks that know and remember things in shows ffs lol

When drinking cider, Fossoway said here that Maekar has four sons. The oldest, Daeron, was drunken, the second was Aerion, the third was sent off to be a Maester, and then Egg ironically runs in and interrupts him before he can talk about the youngest. They said that Maekar left to search for the oldest and youngest who were missing. The vulgar song Egg is singing in the beginning is about the Blackfyre Rebellion, a huge civil war that Egg’s father and uncle Baelor fought in on behalf of their father, King Daeron.

I didn't know but there were signs that made me suspicious, like how well spoken he was, how he knew so much, how afraid he was when he saw them riding into town, and a big clue was when he was talking to Dunc in either episode 1 or 2 when he tells Dunc he is from King's Landing and Dunc says something about "oh, from Fleabottom" and Egg says "no" - that clued me in that there were shenanigans afoot.

I knew as soon as he said his name was Egg bacause Maester Aemon was remembering playing with him as kids when he was dying he kept sayin "Egg! Egg!". I feel sorry that they kinda spoiled it for Oak. Some people just like to talk too much.
