OK, saying this with love 😊 but yeah… this doesn’t touch the original Jumanji at all for me -- not even in the same universe 💙. Still, I had a lot of fun. Very chaotic, a wild ride, and I laughed more than I expected. 💛😊

Crispy

Any Flight of the conchords fans in here? Or was it just me excited to see Murray 😆

Infinite Ree

Honestly the original Jumanji scared the crap out of me 😅 as an adult lol

Tania R

😂🤣😂

Gambit3838

I loved this movie so much. Can't believe it's nearly 10 years old already. If you didn't know, ALLEGEDLY there's a part 3 coming in December when Dune 3 and the new Avengers movie comes.

Karissa M

Agreed! It’ll never touch the original, but respect to them for taking a different approach instead of trying to be exactly like the former. I think they knew how beloved the original was and the nostalgia that Robin Williams brings so they went the right direction to do something very different!

Tania R

Agreed 💛

Maisie

I'm home sick and this just made me soooo happy! Thank you guys! Jack Black ate this movie up with a spoon and I love it.

Vee

The way this is genuinely my most rewatched movie of all time 😭 can’t wait to rewatch again with y’all!

Kaley

Mason Quinn knowing it’s Nick Jonas was as surprising for me as it was for Oak and Answer!

Lord W.

About to watch, I'm so excited, I know you've all seen it if I recall correctly. But you hadn't seen the first and there's still some nice touches/references to the original :D

Austin

The gym teacher wasn’t in The Parent Trap. That was Elaine Hendrix. Looking forward to you guys watching the next one.

Something

Please don’t skip out on zathura

Splint Reacts

Rhys Darby is from New Zealand, also as an Indigenous person I feel obligated to point out that a Boomerang does not work like that 😂

Sanji Sama

I was looking forward to Zathura so much, but won't skip this. Hope you guys go back to Zathura though, as it is the direct sequel of the original.

AttractivePigeon

When you compare the original to the remakes, the original always wins for me. I'll watch the remakes for jack black though.

Tania R

What did you think? Did you like it? 😉

m

Easily the remake(s) for me. In no small part of Jack Black tbh, it's insane how versatile he is behind his usual demeanor. Then again, I just love the D.

m

Mostly came here to comment on how fucked up calling Rhys Darby a brit is The boys are now obligated to watch the HBO's One Night Stand feature of Flight of the Conchords and then the HBO show

AttractivePigeon

yeah that's where I'm different. I've seen enough Dwayne Johnson for a lifetime.

Lord W.

Oh I loved their reaction! Was great seeing them be able to recognise things like Alan Parrish was here 👌 😁

Kyra Brown

Even though the first one is a classic I always really enjoyed these movies imo jack black and Kevin hart carried both films so hilarious 😂 💯❤️

Kyra Brown

I second this as well

Tania R

I may need to go back for a rewatch because I think the wine got more attention than the reaction the first time 😅🍷

Lord W.

🤣🤣

fatoumata cisse

I loved the remake way more than the original. Jack Black was so so good. It was so enjoyable and fun, and I rewatched it so much times.

Donna Castellano

I wish you guys would check out the Hayley Mills version of The Parent Trap. It's better than the LL one, IMHO. But it's the one I grew up with. I was an adult when the LL remake came out. Heck, even would love to see a reaction to the other Mills classic, Pollyanna.

Ryan Towell

Missi Pyle the gym teacher wasn't in Parent Trap but she was in Bringing down the House (she was hilarious in that), 50 First dates, Dodgeball If you all haven't seen Bringing down the house its a must see. Steve Martin, Missi Pyle, Betty White, Eugene Levy, Queen Latifah.

Alanna Meyers 🍌

Excited to watch this for the first time with the boys! Only thing I know about it is that Tom Holland was originally slated to play Nick Jonas’ role but due to scheduling conflicts had to back out. I only know that cause I’m a huge Tom Holland fan haha

ZuZu

I haven't even seen the modern one. I loved the original with Hayley Mills so much I figured I'd be disappointed with any remake. Same with Freaky Friday. I'm only interested in the Jody Foster version, lol.

Ren

Even tho you all have seen it before i have never seen it WITH you so it was still a lot of fun! 🫶

Lauren

This is one of the few remakes that I really love, simply because of the cast and the respectful tribute to the original. If you guys love Karen Gillian, you should check out Doctor Who. She plays an amazing character in the series remake.

Annie519

When I first went to see this movie I had VERY low expectations for it. I typically do not care for remakes/reboots, but I went to see it because I love Dwayne Johnson. And when it was over I couldn't believe how much I loved it. It's not just trying to copy the original, it actually does something brand new and it felt very refreshing. I thought it was so smart that the game itself knew it needed to change it's form in order for kids to play it. I love that they actually go inside the game, just like Alan did. The cast is just so good, Jack Black in particular does an awesome job. I like that all the characters gets an arc, Bethany for me has the best one. It's just a lot of fun and I loved how they gave Robin Williams a little tribute by showing where Alan had been living when he was there, it was a really nice moment and very respectful. The only thing that kind of bugs me though is, I never really feel like this jungle is the jumanji jungle. The way Alan describes it in the original film sounds absolutely terrifying, but you don't really get that feeling, or at least not for me. I wish they had shown more things from the original film, maybe the monkeys, the lion or those venomous plants, just something to show that this is indeed the same place. And you made some valid points at the end there and my issue with that is, this group shouldn't have any remembrance of it. In the original, after beating the game it goes back to Alan and Sarah being young again, and when they finally meet Judy and Peter again in the future they are none the wiser, as they shouldn't. So, it really should be the case for this group too. But other then that I love it.

Kimmie

I love this movie but I hate when writers only use women to portray fake feminists. People are already uneducated on what feminists actually are as it is. This doesn’t help smh. I’m still here for the next one though

Bri

I can really see Nebula in Karen Gillian's performance here. 😂 I enjoyed this more than I did when I initially watched it. The humor had me cracking up, especially Jack Black as a teenage girl lol. Plot wise, I still prefer the original. It felt like we got more of a deeper story and they explored more somber themes. Plus, I liked how each roll revealed something new from Jumanji. I found that to be a more interesting game. But the cast in here is great and the dialogue and all the jokes is what really sells it for me.

Annie519

I went straight to the comments to check to see if anyone corrected them on this because I hate repeating what others have already mentioned, so thank you.

Stacey

Oh no! Rhys Darby is a fellow kiwi not a Brit.

Artem Dmytrenko

I think that, because the original movie has a lot more serious themes, it feels more mature. While this one goes in a completely different direction and feels more like a teenage movie.

Megan

The gym teacher is Missi Pyle and she's not from The Parent Trap. That's Elaine Hendrix. I love Missy and my favorite role of hers is Dodgeball, she's unrecognizable. But on the channel, you've seen her in, like you said, Galaxy Quest and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Violet's Mom).

Nicholas James

After all the Jumanjis you have to watch Jumanji 2, or Zathura.

Annie519

It's actually pretty crazy how long she's been acting, she's got a big filmography. Not just in films but in television as well.

Megan

I wish she was utilized way more, I only ever see her in bit parts.

Tyler Daigle

You need to watch Zathura too!! Its essentially a Jumanji movie and my version of it growing up

Kiss the Librarian

The bootstrap paradox is the answer to the debate at the end. If Alex destroyed the game when he returned to 1996, then the future kids could never enter the game to save him - so would he be destroying himself? The best noodle twister of a time travel story is the German miniseries Dark. Highly recommend.

Katie

Please add Zathura to your list!

PhatBoySteven

Speaking of Twisted Metal id love for you guys to watch the show

Kayla

Bethany's character development was one of my favorites especially at the ending. As for the changing of the game, in the first film they did mention the game thinks. So it changing from board game to video game, not that far fetched. I'm surprised you guys didn't catch that the outfits they were wearing when they crushed the game wasn't the same as what they were wearing the weekend after. That's why they were all shocked. Also, sounds like we may need a Camp Rock reaction. I watched the Jonas show when they were just starting out. They even make an appearance in Night at the Museum Battle of the Smithsonian.
