HAPPY FRIDAY!! thank you for starting this amazing show

Lauren

Yay!

kimmy

You guys are awesome!

Lizzie

Yay this will be a fun rewatch for me!

Katie Madsen

I am so excited to watch this with you guys as been hoping for it for at least a year! As an autistic person it makes me happy to see such nice representation from a character, and that you guys will learn lots about autism too! <3

Ellie

I watched this for the first time when it was announced you would be reacting to it, and I loved every moment. I think it's tied with The Glory for my favorite k-drama, but much more lighthearted. Very fun show. I'm so excited to rewatch it with your reactions 😁

Elspeth

How do I wait a week for the next one?! Loved this

Mari Vaz

Got worried for a moment you guys wouldn't recognize Chuck Norris from AOUAD lol

Unholy Tater

Recommended this way back when. Really looking forward to the reactions!

ParkMinJeon

Where’s DD ?! ): was hoping all of you would be present for this one

ParkMinJeon

A heads up, at the end of each episode, they give you a preview into the next episode which is basically spoilers of what’s to come. If you don’t want spoilers, you’d wanna pause when the drawings/animations appear at the end of the episode. That’s when you know an episode is over.

Badd Medicine

I need to regulate my schedule a bit to maintain a healthy balance. For some context, I average about 210 hours per month working on everything here, and that doesn’t include my day job. Because of that, there will be times I won’t be able to attend certain things in order to prevent burnout. 🤙 Hope this helps.

Zoe S

Appreciate everything you do Diamond Dave💕

Rawaby 1204

I was so excited for this !! I’m happy that you guys finally can watch some lighthearted Kdrama , it still has some heavy subjects but the comedy and the vibe makes it much more enjoyable, also I’m so proud of Oak recognizing the mom from squid game, although kinda disappointed none of you recognized the little girl from The Glory 😂 i also like that you brought The Good Doctor up , the American show was actually based on Korean Drama but the American one did it better(imo) and had more success , that was a great reaction can’t wait for more

lila

Omg yes! I'm so happy you're reacting to this!!!

Nibie

The young version of Woo young woo is actually "The Glory" Yeonjin (main villain)'s daughter! Such a young talent! Good Doctor is Actually originally a K-drama! Looking forward to the next episodes!

Al

Such a good show, hoping it paves the way for the next one to be “When Life Gives You Tangerines” 🍊

Kimberley

One of my favorite Kdramas its such a sweet charming show. I know you will love Attorney Woo and her dad he's such a good dad.

Kimberley

Oak will need hankies

Maisie

Oak, usually a person with autism does feel the typical emotions, but has trouble recognizing them or their expression in themselves or others.

Suki

Yes a good point as someone with autism (low to non support needs) even tho I can name emotions and know what they are labeling them from feeling can be hard

Suki

I’m pretty sure the little girl in the beginning is also the little girl from The Glory

Giselle Hernandez Torres

Love love this drama and te representation of te sprectrum of autism. Another one that does a good job in that way is It's okey not to be okey.

Mo

Yayyyy! Hoping for its okay to not be okay when this show is done

Harlee

In New Zealand Māori a person with autism is takiwātanga (in their own space and time). We believe they feel very deeply we just might not be privy to it.

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

My favorite scene was when she was in court and made it known she had an autism disorder and said she loved crime and the camera panned to the dad getting emotional. That fucking got me; I'm not going to lie; I dropped a couple tears. 😂

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

WOW, the first episode made a great impression, and Mason Quinn is right; it's such a breath of fresh air for this TV series for the K-dramas. I'm looking forward to watching this with the guys.

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

I know one thing Mason Quinn loves about K-dramas is the humor and comedy and I do too. This is fucking great; I'm so excited. 🤘😝

Kaley

I think when the dad said he took the labels off on the shirt, I assumed he was referring to the tag the back of the shirt, which could be a sensory issue? I used to hate wearing shirts with buttons on them as a kid (still do lol).

Kaley

Yes. A lot of media has come a long way with autistic representation (it often can enforce stereotypes etc). One of the best so far as of late has been Dr. Mel King on THE PITT

Bri

I am so excited that y'all are watching this! Me and my husband loved watching this show. 💕 Got my mom to watch it too!

So Tired

So EXCITED!!!

Valencia

Oak, it's funny how you mentioned The Good Doctor because the inspiration of the show came from a K-drama with the same name. I believe the K-drama aired in the 2010s if you guys ever check it out.

Sora

Just a little fun fact. The first Season of the "The Good Doctor" USA is based on a Kdrama of the same name. Some Episode are direct adaptions. Later Seasons of the US Version drifts apart from the Original.

Bri

My daughter is diagnosed and labeled high functioning but also has ADHD like me. I say that she lives in her own world a lot, and it's ironic because she's an aquarius too and that's their tag line lol. She definitely has big emotions and can be overly sensitive, it's what's led to meltdowns in the past. From what I've read, many people on the spectrum feel emotions deeply and intensely, they may just not process and express them in the same way. I also just read that almost half of people with autism have alexithymia, which makes it harder for them to identify, name, and describe, their emotions.

r

OH LETS GO

Tina Aikaa

Oh yes! One of my comfor shows 🥰 Im so glad I joined at this time

Mari

The OG Good Doctor Kdrama was amazing. That's why it got the US Version. Extraordinary Atty Woo is as amazing as Good Doctor but more light hearted and modern. I love both series.

Moon Joy

I am so glad you're getting to this. It's one of my comfort shows, I always say after The Glory and Devil Judge this is the best pallet cleanser along with Marry my Husband.

PhatBoySteven

Damn DD you need a vacation. Appreciate all you do for us!

Crystal

If they like this, we need to get the into a Business Proposal and It’s Okay Not To Be Okay.

Jecxxy

I hope they do marry my husband

Kuroi Ryuuji

You guys should definitely watch “A Shop for Killers” a kdrama that gives John Wick vibes.

Rawaby 1204

I think they need more time for this one 😂 gotta watch more lighthearted or romantic dramas

Knightmare

Marry My Husband is crazyyyyy

GoWonderful

It's Okay Not To Be Okay will never happen. These guys will not involve themselves with an actor who caused a suicide.

Crystal

It’s true he’s a shitty person, but he isn’t the only actor in the show. Seo Yea-ji is amazing and she deserves to be seen. He’s not profiting off them watching it, so I don’t see the problem.

Mari Vaz

And season 2 is coming out this year!!!

raeven b.

A whole show shouldn't be canceled just because he acted in it. At the end of the day, these fictional stories and characters should be separated from the actual actors and their own lives. It's Ok to Not be Okay and Queen of Tears are both excellent dramas with a whole talented cast.

raeven b.

it's wild lol But easily one of my faves of the year when it came out. I still think about that drama. Lord, that show was a ride!

ias

I can't believe it's finally here 😭 I'm so happy you guys are finally watching this! It's my fav kdrama

Kaydee

i cant see then enjoying any of these anyway, theyre all a lot older (and buffer lol) than the target audience. i think that we should only recommend shows that they might like, so that the reactions are also enjoyable for us viewers.

Crystal

They literally just watched high school musical and enjoyed it lol and these kdramas are not for kids. Not sure if you’re new to the channel but they’ve watched across so many genres and target age demographics, the idea that they wouldn’t enjoy these doesn’t make sense.

Angela 🌺

I love this show and I'm really glad you're watching! Can't wait to see your theories! 😁

sophie

This is the first kdrama y’all have covered that I haven’t seen, enjoying the first watch right along with you!!! 😆

Marie RammGirl

Was wondering if you guys would recognise Father here as Cheong-Sans father in 'All Of Us Are Dead' & the Wife of the angry Husband was Player 149 Geum-Ja from S3 Squid Game :) seems like we're gonna have a more light hearted time with this K Drama, Woo is already an adorable character aswell a badass Attorney after just this 1 episode, loved the camera work they did showcasing an insight to how her mind works with situations, I think she is gonna make us all fans of whales by end of the show 😊 (my favourite animal is Ducks) also liked Quinn/Answer's double 'thumbs up' motion hehe, 👍 I can already tell this is going to be a delightful 1st time watch with you guys. ❤️

Doe

@GoWonderful - And that's not all he's guilty of either. He's a pedophile and was in a six year "relationship" with 15 year old Kim Saeron who later killed herself because of him. He's blacklisted for a reason. I highly doubt they would feel comfortable watching a show with this pedophile as the lead. There are so many other great k-dramas and I'm surprised people are so insistent on them watching ones he played main roles in!

Doe

Watching this for the first time with you guys! Excited for the series!

Apollo

Awww no Diamond Dave this time?

krissy

I used to get in trouble for cutting (or ripping if I was hella overstimulated) the tags off my clothes. So many things are "tagless" now, thank god. In the 90s/00s clothes companies were really out here like, "lets put a huge piece of scratchy, metallic fabric on the back of EVERYTHING!

Nina

Just FYI: it’s gimbap 김밥; not sushi. 😁

BlueEyes1991

definitely one of my top 3 favourite Kdrama ever! I'm so excited for you guys to experience this. Its more light hearted but so real. and I love that this is an introduction to this type of Kdrama. Cant wait to see you react to more in this genre!

Katie

@Doe Yet they watched Squid Games and that had a pedo in it too

Ashley H.N

Lol I can't stress this enough😅 my sister would often call gimbap as sushi and I'm like no you can't call it that idk

Aubrey

Aww, our little softy, Answer, got verklempt (me too). This was so charming and heart-warming. I love that Jun-ho was empathetic from the beginning without being patronizing. It really shows who he is as a person without even saying a word. I also loved that you could see the difference in how Young-woo masks around her father, her friends, and her new colleagues, as they were all, though subtle, distinctly different. I very confidently said "that's her mom?!" when Han (if they mentioned her first name, I missed it) walked into Dad's restaurant. I missed the part in the beginning where they said he was a widower. Still, that was such a loaded, non-verbal exchange between the two that I'm setting up camp on this hill. Especially since they had all of those law books at the home they clearly moved into after Mom was gone. That's a lot to pack, move, and unload for absolutely no reason.... This is my first K-drama, and I'm excited to see what happens next!

Subhankar Dey

One of my favorite K-dramas of all time!

Aria Isara

Oooh 1st kdrama! Will you go back and watch the other ones the guys reacted to?

Aria Isara

I thought he was fromn AOUAD but they didn't mention it so I thought I was mistaken 😅

Aria Isara

They also didn't recognize the little girl from The Glory lol

Aria Isara

Well personally I really liked his acting after watching Moon Embracing The Sun and I was excited to see more, I had Queen of Tears, My Love From The Star, OK To Not Be OK etc in my list... But then that thing happened and even though I'm still interested in these stories I haven't had the motivation yet to watch the shows... 😬 That being said, Hollywood is full of horrible people and I'm sure the guys watch stuff with such people in it all the time. If they don't see this thread and don't know about Kim Soo Hyun I say just let them watch in peace and enjoy the content while not knowing anything about him... Also, I'd say that even though he is suspicious I still wouldn't claim he "caused a suicide". It's a big claim. Is someone responsible for their ex partner's suicide because they dumped them? Slippery slope IMO. The age she was when they started dating is also unclear I think. I've heard him say suspicious things so I'm wary of him but I'm also staying away from making major claims on such serious topics.

Aria Isara

First time watch for me! Very nice 1st episode. Also omg I love the actress (Baek Ji Won) playing her boss "Han"!! 😀 I've seen her in many dramas she is so versatile and always so good

Xoxoedixts

Omg if you guys like the happy and fun vide of this series I feel like you guys would like twinkling watermelon is so amazing and has such a beautiful story

Ashley S

One of my favorite shows!!!!!!

gen

GUYS kimbap is cooked! Its cooked rice, carrots, eggs, spam, etc, wrapped in seaweed <3

gen

Good honestly

Mari Vaz

So excited for you! ♡

Aubrey

@Aria Isara maybe if I have time at some point, but I’ll watch them going forward!

Midnight Lion

it's a common misconception that autistic people only experience low empathy, but it's also very common for autistic people (like me) to experience hyperempathy, aka extreme empathy! For myself, an autistic woman, if I put myself in someone else's shoes, I start to actively feel the emotion within myself to the point that I get overjoyed, or deeply angry, or start to cry, depending on the emotion I imagine the other person is feeling. A more universal struggle (in my experience) for autistic people is identifying and naming the feeling that we're experiencing. I can't count how many times I've been asked, "How are you doing?" and I have no idea how to respond 'cause I don't actually know how to label how I'm doing/feeling, lmao.

Midnight Lion

Also, because I love writing and stories in general, sometimes I think I can approach emotions from a logical perspective simply because of how stories have taught me about the progression of emotions. Aka, if X happens then someone will likely feel Y because of Z, etc etc etc, and I love to explore that cause-effect in writing. Youngwoo does a bit of the same in the show, where she uses lived experience to determine cause-effect (like the closing the blinds + trying not to disturb sleep = love and care — it's representative of a pattern of behavior that is recognizable as love). lastly, as an autistic woman who loathes eye contact and had such a burden lifted off my shoulders when I realized I don't actually have to engage in eye contact to be social, here's my experience with eye contact: it is so unbelievably hard to think when making eye contact with someone. It makes me feel frozen, vulnerable, anxious, to the point of almost being painful. It's like I become hyper-self aware when making eye contact with someone and become more conscious of my facial expressions and struggle to form words. "Look me in the eyes when I'm speaking to you," was a NIGHTMARE phrase to hear growing up because obeying would inevitably lead to me being unable to speak and crying out of anxiety. I'm lower support needs than Youngwoo but man do I really connect with her.

LavendersBlues

I'm glad you pointed all this out! There's such stigma associated with that stereotype when I find that often autistic kids and adults like myself are feeling too MUCH and struggling to process that causes the disconnect not a lack of feeling or lack of understanding feelings. I see a lot of myself from before I essentially taught myself to mask by taking public speaking and theater in school in Yong-Woo that makes this show is so refreshing. And the difference being key that she's uncomfortable with touch not incapable of wanting to give it -- and I think that scene outside the funeral parlor really illustrated that so well. Yong-Woo wanted to offer consolation but she just didn't know how to do that within her range of comfort of expression. She leaned into what she'd seen other people do but was too uncomfortable to follow through. Anyway this show is amazing and I'm so glad these guys are watching it.

Midnight Lion

I think something that's important to understand about Youngwoo is that her touch aversion is not indicative of her empathy, or understanding emotions. It's about sensory processing. I'm autistic, and when someone touches me when I'm not prepared for it, it can actually hurt. Usually it just sends a wave of extreme anxiety through me; I get tense, can't think, panicky, and deeply uncomfortable in a physical sense, like my entire body is screaming STOP. If I'm prepared for the touch, and especially if I'm touched by people I trust/am close to, then it's much easier and more comfortable. So when Youngwoo tenses up when she's being hugged, it's not because she doesn't understand the emotions behind the hug. It's because she doesn't like being hugged like this, because it's overwhelming, anxiety-inducing, and potentially even painful for her. Her making an effort to reciprocate in what ways she can doesn't show "growth" necessarily but rather is indicative of her empathy and kindness, to make that effort when she's actively in a deeply uncomfortable social interaction.

Midnight Lion

I also taught myself to mask through theatre! That, and social scripts. I rely on them pretty heavily when at work (retail) and on long days with a lot of customers, it's such a lifeline and good fallback to have when I'm burning out socially. Even so, just last week near the end of my shift, we'd had so many customers that I was switching words and struggling to speak, I was so socially exhausted, and the mask just fell away and I cried in the breakroom. "She just didn't know how to do that within her range of comfort of expression." Yes exactly!!! I've experienced that so much throughout my nearly 30 years, when people are in need of comfort irl I often just don't know what to do even if I empathize deeply with them and want to console them. I do my best, but oftentimes I end up feeling like I'm just reciting what I know I'm supposed to say ("following a script" again) rather than being sincere even if I AM being sincere and mean what I'm saying. I've honestly taken to just stating my tone or calling out my facial expressions. "I can't think of a better way to word this so I'm sorry if it comes across as X, I don't mean for it to," or "I know it looks like I'm smiling right now but I'm not happy, this is more of a grimace." I've found that people, for the most part, appreciate the self-awareness and honesty. And same! I got so excited when I saw they were watching Attorney Woo!!

melrr

The dad from all of us are dead was ojo's dad not cheong-sans he had his mom.

Bekka NoyB

Joined just today. Absolutely fell in love with this series back in 2022 when it arrived on Netflix! Park Eun-bin just killed it in this role. Show can be whimsical at times but tit all works. Can't wait to see what you think of the rest of the series.

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

I’m so excited that you react to this show! Finally some change in K-dramas for you 🔥🔥🔥

Bekka NoyB

Never been officially diagnosed, but several online tests seem to confirm. Think I'm just mildly neurodivergent (if that's even such a thing). Personally I don't think modern science is really even able to accurately diagnose a lot of these things. Maybe in few hundred years? Anyway, I can definitely relate to being hyperempathetic. Makes watching/reading the news problematic. Just love this wonderful series!

Bekka NoyB

this show was my first k-drama as well

Ryan Towell

I haven't seen anything yet that Park Eun-bin has done that wasn't terrific. I thought her acting in this show was amazing but my favorite of hers is The Kings Affection. I hope you all check that one out too.

Monica T

Omg .. I joined the patreon for Bridgerton but to see they've watched Extraordinary Attorney Woo too?!
