Unholy Tater

Early to this! Looking forward to it.

Unholy Tater

Those new caps are extremely annoying indeed.

Ashley S

Really enjoying this series with y'all!

Ellie

You guys followed this case a lot better than I did on my first watch 😅 Loved the episode, but this was probably my least favorite case in the show.

LavendersBlues

What a mood -- this one confused the heck out of me on first watch

ias

Woo scene with Sooyeon is one of my favorites of the show, always get me a little teary eyed. I was waiting for this episode for this.

Ellie

I'm glad you said this; I wasn't sure if it was just me struggling to follow the case lol. Watching it with Badd Medicine helped me actually understand what was going on 😂

Like how Woo gets in Kwon's face & doesn't back down! That research guy deserves an Oscar for that performance in court. :D The Spring Sunshine moment between Woo & Su-yeon is one of my fave scenes in the entire series! ♥ Like that Woo took down that flower photo & puts up the letter from the other company. That final scene! Hmmm...

Harlee

My favourite thing in this show is that Woo is not limited by the people in her circle and people see her strengths and accept her differences. Woo is the main character and drives the story. She recognises her own difficulties and has enough people in her circle to draw on when she needs help. She is viewed as a capable rival, and an object worthy of romantic affection. I hope Oak can become more open-minded as the show goes on. I understand life and family experiences, but protective instincts can be limiting and keep people's lives smaller.

Great episode, great reaction and great discussion ! You will slowly get your answers just like Mason Quinn got his

Really love the "spring sunshine" scene too! I'd tear up too if somebody called me that. And just to clarify, the woman at the end being questioned about the illegitimate child is the CEO of Taesan(the rival firm) . And the CEO of Hanbada(our firm) is the one visiting Young-woo's dad!

I agree Oak about the water caps being attached in the UK is SUPER annoying! >.< Liked the stare down they had after she called Kwon that nickname & liked how Jun-Ho was with Kwon on basketball court after THAT phone call, he deserved it after throwing Woo under the bus like that!. The "Spring Sunshine" nickname was 1 of the most heartwarming scenes seen so far, like Oak said, you never truly know the impact your acts of kindness have on a person ❤️ loved the 'Government Test' & refraining scratching nose impressions from Quinn/Answer hehe.

after years of being a kpop fan and watch k-variety shows, it’s so funny to watch the reaction to the Cham Cham Cham game🤣 to try and explain it, it’s a game of reflexes and deception where the Attacker, using either their hand or an object like Youngwoo, tries to predict which direction the Defender is going to turn their head. In the basic version of the game, there are only two directions: Left and Right. But there’s also a harder version where Up and Down are options, too! If the Defender turns their head in the same direction that the Attacker points in, the Defender loses. If the Attacker guesses wrong, the Attacker loses. And this is where reflexes come in: the loser gets bopped on the head! So the loser has to reflexively grab the pot (or other object) to defend themselves, while the winner has to grab the hammer (oftentimes in variety shows it’s an inflatable hammer, or sometimes a water gun or something like that) and try to bop them with it. This game often moves MUCH faster than we see with Youngwoo and Geurami so it’s really fun, and people will often make mistakes on their reflex and try to protect their heads even when they won🤣 Edit: also forgot that the winner keeps attacking until they lose!

What Youngwoo says in the car, about feeling like she’s in a different world than neurotypical people — I’m an autistic woman, and growing up, it felt like everyone else my age had access to a guidebook about life and socializing that I didn’t have, and it was so bad that I straight up convinced myself that it was because everyone else was allowed to watch SpongeBob and I wasn’t🙃 so that scene hits pretty hard for me

Midnight Lion

I love the scene where Youngwoo gives Suyeon a nickname because Suyeon likely thought that Youngwoo thought she was actually a mean person because a lot of the kind things Suyeon did for her were done with some exasperation and even some annoyance. But now Suyeon is finding out that actually, this entire time, Youngwoo has always viewed her as a lovely person. And that’s a hell of a mirror to get thrown up at yourself; to realize that this person that you found annoying in various ways thinks of you in such kind regard. I think it’s also good to show that even if someone exasperates you or tries your patience, you should always strive to have good character. The kind of character that allows you to push past those annoyances and do good and kind things naturally, without even really noticing that that’s what you’re doing.

After last episode I’m looking forward to hearing Oak’s updated thoughts on the love line in every episode, but they didn’t really go into it this time (even though we had scenes between Young-woo and Jun-ho), so I’m low-key a little disappointed 😅

Please keep in mind that lots of autistic people absolutely can lie. Some do have the ability to understand how to lie and how to manipulate. As a general statement, saying autistic "can't" lie is not accurate. It depends on the person's individual experience, beliefs, and own sense of justice. Some autistics that function on black and white, rigid thinking, may not be able to bring themselves to lie or know how to lie, as it would go against their logical thinking. If something is true, they will say it. If something is not true, they won't say otherwise. I can 100% lie to my mother-in-law to keep the peace; I'm sure many people can relate to that. I can omit the truth to her, when need be. I can lie to my sisters, my mom, my bosses, etc. I, however, have a severely hard time understanding when I'm being lied to, misled, or manipulated. I struggle to recognize when people are faking being angry at me. I struggle to understand when people are faking emotions. However, I fake emotions all the time; this is a concept I am trying to unlearn. It is one of the ways in which I mask my autism. To mask is different for every single autistic person. Some mask quite a lot and some are unable to. Some don't have a choice and have to mask for safety in social situations. However, masking is not lying. Just one example of what autistic people do that others may perceive as us being "fake". Youngwoo masks her whale-talk all day. If she had it her way, she'd be talking about whales all day. But she has to tone it down. On the other hand, regarding lying, a sense of justice for one autistic person can be different than another's. Some autistic people may think that little white lies (or even bigger lies) aren't that big of a deal. If they're good at lying or not, that's another thing. However, they'd be able to if they wanted to. Some autistic people can't lie because they don't believe it's the right thing to do in any situation no matter what. It depends on the person. Some can't lie simply because they are not good at controlling their facial expressions, body language, and/or tone. It's important to note there are some misinterpretations in this show that make generalizations for all autistic people that just aren't completely accurate. Another example is - not all autistic people are unfeeling robots. Youngwoo doesn't not feel emotions just because she's autistic. She has a hard time understanding them, expressing them, and recognizing them in herself and others. Body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, are too hard for her. This is one of the ways I relate to her. She keeps photos of her father to mimic facial expressions, but she knows what the feelings are. She just needs help expressing them at times. She didn't know how to comfort her old neighbor after her husband died because she had trouble understanding how to comfort someone in that situation, especially since physical touch is something she doesn't like. She understood the woman was feeling grief. Autistic people can feel emotions, some of us can feel emotions too intensely, some of us have a hard time feeling them. A lot of us don't feel emotions in the same way. But we are not all of us un-empathetic. Empathy can be hard for autistic people; but not all of us are emotionally unintelligent. So with lying - making a broad statement such as "autistic people can't lie" doesn't leave enough room for contradiction. Many of us take things literally. I struggle with that to the point it causes lots of confusion and issues in conversation on a daily basis. That plays into me not recognizing when someone is lying to me. Why tell me something if it isn't true, right? Why portray an emotion if you're not really feeling it? Not all autistic people are innocent by default. Not all autistic people have negative intentions by default. Just the same as every neurotypical person, we are a vast variety of different ways of thinking and expressing ourselves.

This was helpfully detailed, thank you!

I know it’s been a while since this was uploaded, but I just wanted to say to Oak: you talked about how one small act of kindness that you don’t even notice or take inventory of, may mean so much to the person you’re doing it for. I think most of us will never know if we had that kind of impact on someone else, especially a stranger. But I want you to know for certain that you absolutely have. I made a comment on a video a long time ago about losing my son, and relating to the parent in the movie. You responded that you wished you could give me a hug. I’m willing to bet you probably haven’t thought much about that comment since you made it. But I think about it often, and it meant a lot to me. Know that something small that you did, that you likely haven’t thought of since, brought a lot of comfort to a stranger. <3
