Now I can’t wait to get home and watch! One of my favs.

Liam

Damn. First watch for one of you. Still a great movie to watch again

SushiBoy

RDJ is the Greatest black actor of all time 🤣🤣

Thepuppetmasta

I dont break character until the DvD commentary

Jeff K.

Which is exactly what RDJ did, too. That's commitment to a bit right there.

Lord Zuko

When's invincible and the boys gonna drop? Can't wait!

Badd Medicine

We mentioned on Monday's schedule release very late 👍

Crispy

" What do you mean... You people? " 😆

Crispy

Such a gem 💎

DocteurNS

"No. What do YOU mean, *you people*?"

I'm Batman

Like y'all I've seen this movie but not the directors cut, wonder what else is added. I'm more of a theatrical kinda guy with my comedies. The only other comedy I've saw in directors cut was Horrible Bosses and I wasn't as big a fan of that one as the theatrical, for me the jokes dragged on a bit too much. Hope that isn't the case here. Anyways, looking forward to it nonetheless.

DustinEatWorld

The scores are lower than expected😅

Kickinthescience

I never thought ppl held Tropic Thunder in the same vein as other action comedies/spoofs like Rush Hour or Scary Movie and Airplane

Ally

Nooo no spoilers about their scores 😭 it’s not fun to watch a reaction if you already know they didn’t like it

Ryan Holmes

I wish more than anything this channel would do more comedy reactions. All we get is Rom Coms

Ryan Holmes

Just looked up the Talladega Nights trailer because I've never seen it and Oak said "90% of the funny parts in the movie are in the trailer." But the trailer is completely full of scenes that weren't in the movie so not sure what he's remembering

Kyle

Man would love you guys watching the scary movies with 6 coming out this summer

Lauren

I’m 40 minutes in and I just love the tableau of MQ’s straight face throughout while Oak and Answer just keep sheepishly covering their faces at the inappropriate jokes! Lol. I appreciate this movie’s courage to push envelopes, and RDJ’s performance was the best thing about it.

DustinEatWorld

Personally, I always check the scores first. If they don’t like a particular film, I don’t watch the reaction because I find it uncomfortable and a bit sad to see them “struggle” through a movie just because we wanted them to. 😅 That’s why, for example, I’ve never watched the guys’ reaction to Spirited Away—even though it’s a masterpiece.

Diablos Cafe

I never seen the trailer but I had it on DVD and watched it so many times, absolute banger.

Diablos Cafe

I do the same Dustin it just depends on who likes it

Michael

Oh yes perfect This gonna be great for my night shift tonight! LOVE the satire comedy in this... it makes fun of the whole hollywood shit and its just so damn funny, now i know its probably not everyones cup of tea but its an extremely well written movie, i just love how they make fun of literally everything hollywood lol the actors the directors and the big boss (tom cruise ) lol the first time i watched this, i didnt even know it was him until it said his name at the end when hes dancing lmao! Ah it still holds up to this day because hollywood has only gotten crazier lol.. thanks for this.

I'm Batman

Much more of a fan of the theatrical version, the extended scenes and new jokes in this cut just didn't stick as much as the original version. Still had a blast with it though but yeah I'll just stick with the theatrical cut for my rewatches. This version gets a 4/5 for me.

Lauren

You guys should check out “Stranger Than Fiction.” It’s a Will Ferrel movie that is actually very deep and heartwarming, rather than being slapstick or goofy.

Kyra Brown

Hilarious film 😂😂😂 love it sm

Matthew Glover

Cant believe Quinn didnt recognize Reggie Lee. Reggie played the character "Lance Nyugen" in the first Fast and Furious movie. He was the right hand man of the main bad guy,he wore the snake skin pants and got chokeslammed during the big DEA raid lol. He has been in alot of stuff, but i always remember him from Fast.

Matthew Glover

Also wanted to mention, specifically for Oak. Oak mentioned how he dies laughing watching the Napolean Dynamite clips and specifically Uncle Rico tossing the steak. Well fun fact,Jon Gries (actor for Rico) actually nailed him in the face on his first attempt throwing the steak. The production crew was trying to land the shot with the steak but kept missing over and over again. So Jon finally stood up and offered to do it because he was confident he could land it since he played alot of sports in school growing up.(Believe he played baseball, football and ran track. Dont remember exactly) So on his first try,he actually nails Bill Hader straight in the face, which is the shot we see in the film. It also lends more credence to the ol' famous line , "Bet i can throw this football over them mountains" lmao.

Lord Zuko

Oh, I must have missed that, my bad. Thanks for letting me know, Dave!🤙

No genre in film carries the tag 'that movie is of its time' more than comedy. Jokes, gags in a particular film showcase what was acceptable in society at the time - based on the public's reaction, and this movie was highly beloved when it came out. So when it comes to comedy I have no boundaries, as long as it makes me laugh, I'm good. Plus this film is nowhere near as what some may consider offensive compared to oldies like Blazing Saddles and Soul man. Even Revenge of the nerds where SA is played of as a gag. 4/5 Answers.

Charity Konusser (the chonus)

100% agree - Stranger than Fiction isn't a Will Ferrell movie - it's a movie that stars Will Ferrell.

"Personally, I always check the scores first. If they don’t like a particular film, I don’t watch the reaction because I find it uncomfortable and a bit sad to see them “struggle” through a movie just because we wanted them to." -- Great that that works for you, but other people *don't* want to know the scores first, so it would be kind of you not to comment with "the scores are lower than expected." Finding out for yourself = great! Sharing what you found with others who may not want to know = not so great.

Matthew Glover

Yea i really dont find this movie all that offensive. The simple jack bit is probably the worst. But everything else is mostly highschool style dick jokes and just immature people being immature. Obviously you have RDJ's character, but the way they go about it really isnt that bad. Pretty much every scene where they mention that topic of race,is shared with Brandon T. Jackson. Who is calling it out and making fun of it. Hes kind of the audience in a way, calling him out on the bs and educating him,but then also being part of the joke himself. At the end of the day, this movie really isnt as offensive as most people make it to be

Donna Castellano

Honestly, I disagree that the "r" word scene wouldn't fly today. It would fly even better bevause it's no longer an acceptable word to use in reference to anyone, not just mentally challenged (IDK if THAT vernacular is still accepted). Lazarus is parroting it as a way to mock the way Speedman thinks of MC people. He even breaks down why simple observation is not enough to portray characters with such disabilities. And Speedman repeatedly using is just goes to show how ignorant he is to what's right or acceptable, on or off the movie screen.

Soooo this was a 1st time watch for me & like Quinn, this movie isn't my kinda of humour, although will admit Jack Black's "Cradle the balls, stroke the shaft, work the pipe & swallow the gravy" gave me a cheeky giggle 😈 'White Chicks/Little Man/Naked Gun' movies BM watched I preferred for silly/goofy/edgy humour, but was entertaining watching Answer/Oak crack up at stuff while Quinn remained mostly straight faced throughout the movie hehe.

ZuZu

You have to remember that the controversial stuff in this movie (blackface, the "r" word) wasn't used because it was acceptable then or even because they were trying to be offensive and edgy, it was used to demonstrate how out of touch the characters were to think it was acceptable. It wasn't funny because it was offensive, like so many r-rated comedies at the time, it was funny because the characters were so stupid about it.

ZuZu

I have to say that I don't usually like a director's cut or extended cut. It always messes with the pacing, and seldom makes it better. I understand why you react to them, but it also makes it harder to do a watch-along as a viewer because the extended or director's cuts are usually harder to find on streaming than the theatrical cut. I can't speak for everyone, but I know I'm just going to watch the cut that I don't have to rent, which is almost always going to be the theatrical cut.

Michael

I do agree with Quinn it would have probably been better if he’d just seen it back then because knowing everything people basically meme or talk about the movie does set your expectations in a way and I get you guys gotta get this out on YouTube and stuff so like kinda gotta obey their rules lol. But I feel you all probably enjoy this way better off camera. It’s not truly offensive or trying to be if you understand the actual satire nature of the way it’s all written and how it’s truly pointing the finger at how ridiculous Hollywood is and how insane some actors can truly be to go to certain lengths to portray a character and yada yada. It’s still a fun time and the overall movie is just epic lol their characters sanity slowly unraveling and how the only normal guy is Sandusky 🤣 or whatever his name is lmao but yeah good time def enjoyed the reaction can’t wait for more.

krissy

I forgot how ridiculous this movie starts and now there's Diet Dr. Pepper burning my nostrils. I know it's silly as hell, but I LOVE fake trailers/commercials inside a movie. Like, okay comedic world building!

Katie

First time watch. I didn’t really find this movie funny at all. I actually couldn’t even finish it, I was so bored. I laughed maybe a couple of times. Usually I laugh more watching this kind of stuff with the guys because they are laughing. I guess it just wasn’t for me. But can see why others may enjoy it.

AA

I love Tropic Thunder! I'm like Oak and Answer whenever I watch this movie. I saw this movie in theaters when it came out, it was a surprise. It's just a great movie that's funny, stupid and good physical comedy. The cinematography is really great for a movie that came out in 2008. What makes this movie great is it's one of the last movies that didn't have to be raunchy to be it funny. That was a huge issue I had with comedies in the 2010s.

Matthew Glover

If there was ever a movie that fit the title, "not for everyone", this would be the crowing example. Its a huge parody and satire on specific topics throughtout the movie industry, which also mirrors everyday life. It makes a complete mockery and joke out of those things in a way to bring attention to them and make fun of it,while shining a light on it. One of those being how tom cruises character represents the evil money hungry top ceo's and people in power who dont care about the actors and people they work with, they just want to use them for money until theyre not worth anything anymore. Thats why tom's characer was completely ok with letting Tuggman die out there. And then all the underlings and lackeys around him who pretty much just shine his shoes, kiss his ass and do anything he says are all completely ok with it. It has funny moments, and i really appreciate the honesty and blunt humor it has..but there are plenty of moments i just shrug off and pay no attention to.

fatoumata cisse

yeah the humour isn't for me, I just found this pretty unfunny first watch.

Donna Castellano

The worst directors cut for a comedy I've seen is Talladega Nights. The pacing is way off, you can tell when they were just riffing and some of the best jokes weren't in that version. It was some other - unfunny - line. I'll never watch that 💩 again. Theatrical all the way.

ZuZu

I did, but that's only available for a short time. I often come late to reactions from months or years ago, and I know I'm not alone.

Aubrey

It took me 5 days to finally get through this whole thing. I guess it's not shocking that almost 20 years later, I'm still not the target audience for this type of film, but like someone said below, I didn't even find myself laughing at the guys laughing. Glad so many others enjoyed their viewing of it and, as always, appreciative of the guys (Quinn, in this case) going outside of their comfort zone.

4f cigarette burn

It's a shame your subtitles were not covering the mandarin parts of the film. There were quite a lot of funny moments during the untranslated scenes.
