Perfect timing 👌 😌

Kaley

One of Anthony’s BEST speeches in the whole series!

Alexandra

THANK GOD I COULDN'T WAIT ANY LONGER

luca

i just absolutely love how into this show oak is, it’s so lovely and hilarious lol

Verity

IT’S HERE, DEAREST GENTLE BADDMEDICINE VIEWERS

Mina E.D

I'm so glad y'all are doing 2 eps per week

Kelsey Roberts

Finally over Mason Quinn being a troll. It's not nice that they treat Edwina this way this season, and for him to be so annoying about it.

🌸Foof🌸

Fun Fact: The actress who played Dolores Umbridge (PinkCatLady) in Harry Potter, is the mother of the actress playing Prudence 😆

Zanni

I fail to understand how Edwina is 'best for business'😂 Like apart from her being the diamond. Maybe someone needs to explain it to me please lol. Because Anthony’s reason for choosing to marry her is far more nuanced and personal than that. It lowkey even sound a bit dehumanizing toward her idk how to explain it😂 She's just so sweet and adorable lol she deserves a love match, not to be an object : (

r

Im so excited to watch

Emily G

I really hope you guys will react to Outlander after bridgerton! I would love to see your reactions. It has hardly anyone reacting to it which is a shame because it’s a fantastic show! 🤞

🌸Foof🌸

I think she deffo sees it as an insult once Anthony provided his reasons for wanting to marry her 😆. He's basically just been focused on marrying a woman who would be suitable to fulfil the role of Viscountess. So not for love, just 'business'. His choice was made easy by the Queen since she basically 'chose' the best of the women by naming Edwina as the diamond. Well that's how they see it anyway with the title of 'diamond of the season'

enyo96

Since you guys are loving this show so much and you loved Harry Potter, I need to point out that the actress who plays Prudence is the real life daughter of Imelda Staunton who played Umbridge 😆

Amanda Diaz

he's not being serious, he's just saying stuff to ragebait oak. Don't take it to heart.

Kelsey Roberts

I mean, his trying to ragebait Oak is ragebaiting me. People who set out to rile up others are like…strange to me.

Amanda Diaz

I need the last two episodes now lol

Demanda

You guys are forgetting that Violet wanted Daphne to marry the Duke because she could see that they were in love. She had the opportunity to marry Prince Vigilante, and Violet wasn’t happy about it because she knew Daphne didn’t love him. Violet has always urged her children to both fulfill their marriage duties AND find love. She’s not being inconsistent here. The criticism of Lady Danbury is also pretty unfair. She has been urging Kate to tell the truth every single episode and Kate keeps choosing not to. Once the engagement happened, Lady D knew Kate was out of time. The moment to do the right thing had passed. Hence her warning to Kate about scandals and fools. It’s not on her that Kate waited so long to act.

D

Wait wait wait mason Quinn, the mother DID give Daphne the advice to find true love. She’s also the one who helped her get OUT of the situation with burbrooke or however his name was written. She’s also the one who didn’t care about the prince bc she didn’t care for titles and only wanted Daphne to be with the man she loves

LilithCain

PLEASE watch Queen Charlotte before Season 3. There are plot points during Queen Charlotte that happen prior to the Season 3 story.

Zanni

Oh I see. That makes more sense then lmao. In the sense that he only wants her to 'fulfill a role', hence, 'for business'. I got confused cause MQ and DD were making it seem like Anthony could learn to love her, when in reality he has no intention of doing that at all lol.

dreamora⋆˚

mason quinn has a severe lack of empathy for both kate and anthony lmao

Badd Medicine

I believe we have stated before that he has no intention to love her since he stated so early on to whomever he would choose.

Cari

They know this and will be reacting after this season is over. Queen Charlotte is my favourite so I cannot wait!

Lisa Clark

Dearest gentle readers, It has come to this author’s most discerning attention that yet another spectacle has graced the public stage-one most delightfully impossible to ignore. The enigmatic purveyors of wit and irreverence, known in certain circles as BaddMedicine, have unveiled a fresh installment for the curious and the cunning alike.

Zanni

These guys were mad at Anthony in Ep 6 for his speech to Edwina but all the man did was finally be honest with her about his true feelings. Plus Anthony never said he would ‘learn to love her,’ or even wanted to. All to do with the tragic story of his father, and how that shapes his reasoning😭

Badd Medicine

I am curious if you watch the reviews and how MQ does compliment Edwina. "Like Edwina in this story is like the absolute picture of perfection of what somebody would want for a wife in this era." - Mason Quinn in the review of 2x5.

Miss Freaky

OMG - the boys need to watch the rest of Season 2 before Oak strangles Mason (the Simpsons, Homer strangling Bart scene) lol Also, your videos need to have a disclaimer: Screaming may occur, adjust headphones accordingly! lol I was not prepared for Oak's enthusiasm these last few episodes!! I am certainly enjoying your moving picture reactions *lol old timey work for movies/films :) Bid you farewell, my lords! :)

Badd Medicine

What is the time stamp? We mention that he needed to be honest for quite awhile to avoid breaking Edwina's heart.

Tarini

This season of Bridgerton seems heavily inspired by indian TV dramas, so many scenes are so similar to shows I watched on TV growing up & also the prolonged tension haha. The romantic tension and drama is the exact same 😭🔥 Also guys did you notice the ceremony where they were applying turmeric (haldi) on Edwina before the wedding they were playing the score from a bollywood movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum

Kelsey Roberts

I’m not saying he’s mean to Edwina. I’m saying his being a troll about Anthony and Edwina going through with the wedding isn’t funny.

Zanni

Lol around 33:52. I was slightly confused by that😅as though you wanted Anthony *not to say that. The speech was definitely unflattering, and his reasoning for marrying her was passionless, definitely wasn’t what she wanted to hear. But the truth can sting sometimes and I thought he was being honourable by revealing his true intentions/feelings. I thought mq and dd were rooting for the opposite.

Zanni

I see. The option of "learning to love her" was mentioned several times though lmao so I thought that's what you were actively rooting for. We must free our poor girl Edwina from such low standards!😂

meeshmallow

as much as I LOVE this season, i totally agree that episode 6 is a little frustrating for viewers because it's just like.... OK WE GET IT JUST BE TOGETHER ALREADY!!!

Badd Medicine

Above you mentioned ”this season” which is why I asked about the reviews. 🤙

Lisa Clark

Yeah, I do think the later half of the season suffers a little from this. I think the peak is probably that speech in 2x5 and after that it's like, IF Y'ALL DON'T GET TOGETHER AND STOP THIS NONSENSE-

Zanni

My favourite seasons are finally coming up next😭❤️

Kickinthescience

Lady Mary Sharma kind of reminds me of Phylicia Rashad

Kelsey Roberts

I’m talking about the writers being mean. In the books, Edwina was never about to marry Anthony. It never got to that point. They did it purely for drama in the show. Which is mean. And MQ being a troll about it made it worse.

Kickinthescience

The dinner table is always a good excuse for the drama

Colleen Scott

I think he does it to antagonize Oak. He’s mentioned before he likes to do that. It does get tiresome at times and it becomes less of a reaction to the show when he just wants to push Oak’s buttons. I’m always wondering if that’s his actual reaction to the show. I mean the show itself is going to push Oak’s buttons anyway. Lol

r

Maybe i'm biased but i think Anthony was %100 right on his conversation with Daphne. "I fight for the family i have" explains all self sacrificing first borns so well 🥲 and it is quite easy to be selfish and choose what you want when youre not nor ever been in that position. Im not saying he's right about everything, he surely f*cked up a lot, but the whole "it doesnt make us respect you" speech rubs me off so ungrateful. Cause their lives would be soooo different if Anthony chose to act different.

r

They dragged it out too much for no reason ngl

Lauren

Diamond Dave vibing to Alanis Morissette while Oak and MQ bicker is hilarious! Never change, boys. Never change.

Nathalie 9090

Just fyi, you said the king is well older than queen charlotte. He’s not, it’s just the illness has aged him

Mia

They drag it out with every season tbh. Nothing is fully resolved until the last episode lol

Kiss the Librarian

Dare I say, squee? Proud of Edwina for standing up for herself by demanding honesty and choosing to take her chances at finding love. It was hard to watch her be so heavy handed with Kate, since I don't believe Kate was ever trying to manipulate her sister (half-sister, ouch). Edwina's declaration that Anthony wasn't offering her love was not the own she thought it was, since both he and Kate were telling her that from the beginning. He told her at the poetry reading, Kate told her a couple times, but Edwina had her blinders on - she was pursuing an idea, not a person. Edwina is simply young and naive, but obviously good hearted. Loved her scene with the king. I was definitely frustrated on the first watch. But on rewatch, Kate and Anthony's kiss scene here hit hard. Seeing them get a moment to express themselves honestly, and how surprised Anthony was before he was able to kiss back as the music seemed to express his heart just saying, "finally," after being locked up for so long.

Lisa Clark

I think they're mostly just having fun. MQ likes to wind Oak up and DD joins in sometimes, lol. The show is escapism and there's nothing wrong with that at all- I think everybody can use some of that at times. Their Bridgerton reactions is what got me to be a patron because it is some of the most fun they seem to be having.

Kiss the Librarian

It would have to be a different story to resolve sooner. I like the tension and yearning, and find it relatable how difficult it can be to get on the same page with someone - especially when strong feelings, trauma/fear/guilt/insecurity hijack the brain and social obligations create more obstacles. It's a story about courage at the end of the day, and who among us has never tried running from our fears before turning to face them? ETA: Apparently there were more steamy scenes early on that might have scratched that itch for some, but arguably would have ruined the season by making the leads too unlikeable so they were cut.

Soph

Is this show meant to be realistic? Like, the characters casting etc is very historically inaccurate so I’m confused

Kiss the Librarian

Anthony was honest with Edwina before this, when he said he could not offer her love or passion, but dutiful action, at the poetry reading. Kate also told Edwina about Anthony declaring he sought a suitable viscountess and did not want love.

Soph

Why is the characters historically inaccurate ? I’m confused is this show meant to be realistic / true? Or pure fantasy ??

Kiss the Librarian

Can you imagine the absolute stress they will cause lol

Kiss the Librarian

Pretty sure they were saying Edwina is "better for business" because she is highly educated, elegant, and comes from a noble family. Kate is similar (she taught Edwina everything she knows), but has a lower social standing (father was working class and deceased mother's rank unknown, now adopted and "too old"), with the added threat that Kate activates Anthony's emotional vulnerability - which terrifies him. Edwina is the logical heartless choice, while Kate would be the scarier, more honest choice. They are only talking about Anthony's journey when referencing Edwina that way, and they expressed more than once hoping Edwina doesn't get too hurt/finds love herself.

r

They're based on historical romance series and while the genre is not %100 historically accurate (more romanticized version of history) the show and netflix definitely changed it into more of a fantasy and changed all the rules so no i wouldnt expect historical accuracy 😀

Kiss the Librarian

I hear you, Kelsey, and hope to clarify that the writers didn't make Edwina a passive participant. She's just as actively human in her strengths and weaknesses, and making poor choices by ignoring Anthony and Kate both telling her early on (Ep 1 and Ep 2) that Anthony doesn't want love. They've shown Edwina being starry eyed "falling in love" with a person she doesn't know, while being unable to describe his character accurately in Ep 4 while talking to his sister. It's not about being mean to Edwina, it's just telling a very relatable human story about the mistake of falling for what we want to see in a person rather than what is there. I'm not blaming Edwina or calling her a villain, just saying that, well, it takes three to tango in this case. lol If the writers followed the book to the letter, then it would be a much shorter season with a lot of repeated plot from season 1 (book 2 is like a copy paste of book 1), and it would add not only a lot of non-consensual sex but also Anthony physically abusing Kate. Sure, Edwina was a nicer character who kept clear of any drama for the short segments she was in the books, but the story in the book also sucked ass, sorry to say.

Kiss the Librarian

Very clearly not meant to be historically accurate, no. To begin with, there is a shocking excess of satin. Also, you're a bit late to the color blind casting party. This is hardly the first show/film to do it, and it's been 6 years since this show first made headlines for racist people having issues with it.

Zanni

😬 Yeah true, poor Edwina was holding onto a lot of wishful thinking. I think what also really hurt her was realizing just how far they were willing to go (denying their feelings right up to the altar), just to maintain the illusion and fulfill what they believed was her “role.” As though she has no autonomy. Plus seeing him openly drawn to her literal sister definitely didn’t make it any easier, to say the least. That specific realization made it hit even harder, cause any hope she had didn’t slowly fade, it just completely shattered in an instant lol.

Kiss the Librarian

That scene is wish fulfillment for everyone with a shitty/abusive bio family. Loved how Kate defended her mother, and how Anthony stepped up when they ignored her and stepmom.

Zanni

Yes I understand that as well. Which further highlights Anthony's misguided choice in looking for 'perfection'.

Cari

As a big fan of period dramas, Bridgerton is not really a period drama. It is historical fantasy. It is as accurate to history as the tv show Reign was. And yet, even though Reign was not at all accurate to Mary Queen of Scots or Francis II’s lives, it was enjoyable.

FD

It’s understood that Bridgerton takes place in an alternate timeline to ours, it’s not meant to be historically accurate

J

I love how stressed Oak gets with this show lol he's gonna been so stressed for S4 if kanthony did this to him

FD

I love these reactions and how invested Oak is😂 This is my favourite season but the storyline was frustrating at times. I just have so much empathy for Kate & Anthony as first born children and their sacrifices and responsibilities. I wish the writers didn’t drag it on for so long which leads to Edwina getting hurt.

Kiss the Librarian

:) Agree with your head canon, since they're basically the same age in QC

Shanice British

Once again I love Oak 😂😂 His reaction to episode 5 got me weak. Stop letting Mason Quinn rage bait you. Also I’ll never understand anyone being mad at Anthony when he told Edwina from the beginning that he didn’t want a love match with her and she still chose to be with him. In episode 6 he’s telling her the same thing he told her early on. I don’t love you and I don’t want love. It’s sad that he found it with her sister but he was always honest with her until this point when it came to her sister.

Shanice British

Edwina’s moment with Anthony and Kate will never do it for me like it does for a lot of people because Anthony told her from the beginning that he didn’t want love and even after his poem she dismissed her sister’s concern for her. That girl power moment from her will always be cringe for me because Anthony told you what he wanted and you told Kate you loved him. Boo hoo 😂 Daphne’s moment with Anthony will always annoy me too because Anthony was right. His responsibilities are not the same as hers so she can’t tell him how he should operate because like he said she’s there to marry into another family while he had to lead his and carry his dad’s name. So yeah those ‘mic drop’ moments didn’t work on me like I’ve seen happen with other reactors where they agreed with Edwina and Daphne.

Kiss the Librarian

Yeah, it was a hard truth to accept for Edwina, and it was frustrating how much denial was going on between the three of them to get that far. I did not like seeing Edwina suffer. The role & loveless marriage being offered was the same one offered at the start. Edwina was also putting Anthony in a role that he didn't fit or deserve - not because Edwina was malicious, just choosing a daydream over reality. She does deserve more and I'm glad she chose the opportunity to pursue a real love someday.

AllyBoo124

I just love Bridgerton day

Amanda Diaz

i love how much Mason Quinn roots for Pen & Colin. im so ready for Queen Charlotte & Season 3! those are my two favorites out of the 4.

Kiss the Librarian

@Lisa Very much agree. I don't remember what first got me to be a patron a couple years ago, probably a movie or something. But I have to strongly recommend their reaction to the miniseries Adolescence, if you haven't seen it. I know it's old hat by now to say this, but I still find these middle aged beef cakes defy my biases by having the most insightful, heartfelt, and conscientious reactions to challenging subjects. In that miniseries, there's a particular scene with a female forensic psychologist interviewing a young male murder suspect, and that scene became a flashpoint of debate online. People were projecting all their gender role expectations for women onto the female psychologist character and got mad at how she handled the interview, despite being very professional in my opinion (I am a woman who used to work with troubled youth in the ER but in a medical capacity, including the psych section with some criminals of all ages). This is the only reaction channel I've seen (and I watched a lot out of curiosity because of that scene) where the reactors grasped the situation and had empathy for all the characters without projecting bullshit onto the psychologist because she was a woman. Taught me a lot about not projecting onto these guys, but I'm human. This is becoming a long tangent: my point is that these beef cakes brighten my day because of their hearts, wisdom, and humor, but it's their integrity that makes me recommend them to others. The current internet climate is rough and we need more healthy dudes online. :)

Ailene Evangelista

I love a slow burn but I do think Kate and Anthony was little too slow imo, especially with this show only being eight episodes a season.

Kiss the Librarian

@Soph You already commented that question about inaccurate race casting. Is this really such a big issue for you? The repeat comments on it are becoming red flags. You're either unaware Google exists, very young and using mom's patreon account, or looking to grind an axe about the balance of white to non-white cast members.

Tara ✨💫

Mason Quinn is pissing me off! Any chance you could stop trying to antagonize Oak so much during the "reaction" and actually react to the show? When you try to get under Oak's skin and he responds, you all miss important information. No wonder you want to rewatch this eoisode to pick up what you missed. If you were actually paying attention, you wouldn't have to rewatch it. 🙄 Also you guys have it wrong with Daphne and Mama Bridgerton. When Daphne and Simon were "fake courting" Mama B saw that it was real between them and wanted Daphne to find true love. When Simon backed off and Daphne started spending time with the prince, Mama B didn't understand because she could see what was between Simon and Daphne was real and true love.

Kiss the Librarian

Agree with your takes. I love the way this season presents multi-dimensional, imperfect characters we can root for while calling out their errors. I feel the same about Edwina's mic drop moment, but I think she is also meant to be seen as a bit immature and out of touch still in that moment - because of the things you mentioned. In upcoming episodes, her arc of growth continues and reaches a point where she is convincingly mature, in my opinion. Despite all that, I agree with Anthony calling her braver than Kate or himself, because Edwina had the courage to defy society and face public shame when he could not. (He was going to try it with Siena, until she dumped him). Although, Kate was less afraid of society scorning her than she was afraid of Edwina being heartbroken and dismissed by society if the engagement was called off. But Kate was also being cowardly about admitting her feelings, even if she did think it was more about passion than love. I can see both sides of Daphne's argument with Anthony. He had a lot to take on, basically becoming a CEO of an agriculture and investment firm overnight as a teenager, and in a society where social connections are necessary to keep business connections. But Daphne had to play a tough role as well, and answer to a lot of people regardless of what she wanted, just because she was a woman. So I squint at him a bit when he implies she could do whatever she wanted.

Kiss the Librarian

Same here. I'm a middle child with an irresponsible older sibling, so I took on a lot at an early age due to a checked out/disabled single parent who was also dealing with a lot. I heavily relate to Anthony and Kate, and the tendency to put others first. Also enjoy this season's social critiques. I'll save my comparisons of other seasons to avoid spoilers, but basically season 2 did yearning best.

Shanice British

I definitely appreciate Edwina’s growth through out and I’m happy she grew up a bit in episode 6 but even her calling Kate her half sister showed she’s still a child. Bless her heart. Also she’s braver because she had to be. She wanted to marry a man who didn’t love her in hopes that it could change but it didn’t so she had to be brave when she learned that he wanted her sister not her. I get what you mean with Daphne but even with what she went through in society she’s also very immature and doesn’t know a lot about life so she’s not able to understand her brother that well. Just in season 1 sex had to be explained to her so of course she doesn’t get why Anthony changed after his dad died. He couldn’t grieve because he had to take care of everyone including their mom and he’s right. She gets to marry a Duke and be in love and happy while he has to marry because he needs a viscountess to help him take care of his family. I see both sides like you do but it’s definitely different.

MB

Mannnnn I know y’all probably won’t, but it would be amazing if you guys watched QC before season 3. Seeing Queen Charlotte adds SO much to her character.

FD

Yea I can also relate to the trauma of being the oldest/responsible sibling which is partly why I love Kanthony. And I agree, I think season 2 did so many things well but I’ll leave it at that

Kiss the Librarian

They said they're watching QC next. Seems they got the heads up it's like season 2b for the story timeline.

Shanice British

I’m so excited for Oak’s reaction to the last 2 episodes. We might need drinks 😂 He deserves to drink after the stress this season has caused him. His poor blood pressure

Angelina

Amazing reaction 🤩 FUN TRIVIA!!! Prudence (Bessie Carter) is the daughter of the actress that plays Umbridge (Imelda Staunton) in Harry Potter 🎉

Charity Konusser (the chonus)

I am LOVING these reactions! I would never in a million years have pegged Bridgerton as the series that the guys would go completely, utterly bonkers over, but here we are! 🤣 (Also it's nice to see Diamond Dave's hair - it works so well with the show and the costume!) One of the reaction channels currently watching The Pitt has a heart-rate monitor on one of the reactors, and his pulse is displayed on screen throughout the episode. I would pay *top dollar* for Oak to wear a blood-pressure cuff while watching and discussing Bridgerton and have the numbers on screen during the reaction and the discussion.

Amaia

Lady Mary is so beautiful

Lindsey Hudson

Alright so I definitely agree that those standards still exist today. Unfortunately I lost my parents when I was 12 and became an orphan. I was never adopted but I still graduated top of my class with honors and got a full scholarship to college. I started dating this guy who was in school to be a doctor. We dated about a few months before introducing me to his also doctor parents. They were extremely friendly at first until they asked about my parents and if they could meet them. I told them about how they passed and they seemed sympathetic but the next week he broke up with me because he parents didn’t think I was an “appropriate match” and that I “had no family”. He said his mom said we weren’t equally “yolked”. That honestly hurt my feelings so bad that someone could think me not worthy just by being an orphan..

TinaLama

That would be fantastic to see! Oak being such a romantic and softy is something that doesn't surprise me at all.

Tara ✨💫

As you guys mentioned, Anthony's pursuit of Edwina and proposal was all duty driven. An arrangment based on business like the majority of marriages of the time. Maybe Quinn was just screwing with Oak, but he was pushing Anthony and Edwina getting married for business and duty, saying that she was perfect and checked all the boxes, but who is she perfect for? Is she perfect for Anthony? She felt out of place at their country estate, Aubrey Hall playing Pall Mall because she was putting on a show to be perfect and was afraid to get dirty and be less than "perfect." It seems she was brought up to be the perfect wife for any suitor who would've shown interest. She made a point of telling Anthony that she'd support her husband in his endeavors, so when Edwina stopped the wedding and asked Anthony to be honest, he was honest about his intent, but you still gave him grief. Don't forget that he was going to end the engagement, but it was Kate who begged Anthony not to end the engagement. I understand her choice not to go through with it because she does want love in her marriage, but Anthony never lead her on about how he felt for her

Charity Konusser (the chonus)

HAMILTON - BRIDGERTON LINK The King George in Bridgerton is the same King George who is in Hamilton, just a few decades later. Bridgerton takes place 38 years after the American Revolution begins and 30 years after it ends. If you recall the King's lyrics "When you're gone / I'll go mad" -- you're seeing now what that lyric portended. There is also an excellent film about this period called "The Madness of King George" that stars Helen Mirren as Queen Charlotte, for which she was nominated for the supporting actress Oscar, and the late, great Nigel Hawthorne as King George, who was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actor.

Kiss the Librarian

I think at least half of that was Mason ribbing Oak, not being serious.

Kiss the Librarian

Wow, big bullet you dodged! Imagine if you found out further down the road you were in a committed relationship with a limp asshole who did whatever his shitty prejudiced parents said. Phew! So proud of you for how far you progressed in life despite those serious early setbacks.

Tyah Reacts

How many times are you going to comment this ? There are plenty of Historical dramas with an all white cast. If seeing colored people being treated the same as non colored people in a historical setting is something that ticks you off so bad then you can politely move on as it has already been established that Bridgerton is not that show. Bridgerton is about love and inclusivity.

Ha'ane Rose 🦋

Not sure if they know it or not, but the actress who plays Prudence is the daughter of Dolores Umbridge herself 😂 Her father is also a famous British actor but idk if they've seen anything he's in or not.

Tyah Reacts

Violet always pushes her children to marry for love. I thought that was something you guys had definitely picked up by now, she did it with Daphne. And even going back to the first episode of this season when Anthony asks for his fathers old betrothel ring she said to him "ill be very happy to give it to you when you find someone with whom you are very much in love". Its always been about love with Violet.

Isolde

Would love for them to watch Downtown Abbey to see him there :)

Julia

MQ trollling the show is getting kind of old now and ruining the reactions for me

Nebula

Every re-watch Edwina lowkey annoys me because Anthony NEVER pretended to love or mislead her. He told her from the very beginning that he couldnt offer her that but could guarantee his duty and loyalty. Kate reminded CONSTANTLY that he was not there for love and that she should choose someone else, knowing love is what Edwina wanted. Yet Edwina insisted in the end that it mattered more that he was a good man vowing security and promise than romance. She made the choice and said multiple times she wanted him regardless and "this life" he provided (might be nothing but she had a strange habit of mentioning the Vicountess title more than literally anyone else). Suddenly shes shocked that Anthony doesnt love her but is promising her security? same as before? I think shes right to be shocked about all of Kates secrets but thats it. And then on top of that she blames Kate for "projecting her desires onto her" even implying the choice of Anthony, but SHE was very clear about what she wanted, when, with who and how from the beginning...Kate pushed NONE of it.

Ha'ane Rose 🦋

Yesss I love Downton so much 😭 I think they'd enjoy it too, plus its a short series.

Marie RammGirl

First of all, I agree with Oak that Quinn needs a Sash as that will make the perfect Accomplement to his outfit to look as fancy as DD/Oak's are hehe (maybe a blue one since his favourite colour?) The tension between Anthony/Kate was like spreading butter on toast, Quinn/Oak's banter at each other over Anthony/Kate/Edwina was golden entertainment for me & couldn't help having a good giggle over it, like when DD was air playing the Violin as Quinn/Oak were debating was also great 😂 LOVED all 3 of your reactions to all the scandals & dialogue in these 2 eps (Quinn's facial expressions & 'poses' was especially amusing) Quinn's "See? the spray bottle worked" & way DD said "Mama" was too funny. Liked the way you all put your hands on your head after the bracelet dropped, as we was all awaiting for something BIG to happen & we certainly got our fireworks in eps 6, your post review discussions are such a joy to listen to cause of how invested you all are with this show. ❤️

Luna

Oak is very dismissive of MQ regarding today's upper society and arranged marriage but Quinn is right, most of the marriages involving the Western uber wealthy/billionaire/old money/aristocracy class i.e 0.1% (which would be the equivalent of the ton in our time) is still VERY much arranged. Almost all of the matches are to keep power consolidated among a few hundred powerful families. The girl he mentions w/ the six figure wedding would not be a member of the ton in that time. At best she would be a merchants daughter or something.

Kelsey Roberts

Oh, don’t you worry, my love. I do not believe Julia Quinn is Shakespeare or Jane Austen. The show is almost always an improvement. I also do like the characterization of Edwina by the actress and the writing. I guess I’m just a bit put off by needing to have her go through pain to increase suspense on an enemies to lovers story.

Maria Stoycheva

Oak, let me just say: as a (perhaps former? hard to tell lol) "rake" myself, I am completely on board with your annoyance with your viewing mates :D Anthony is an excellent portrayal of all of us rakes, and he is much more feeling than he seems, and it's not all lust. whoever doesn't see it, hasn't been in complicated relationships ;) good for them, I guess, but you and I know that there's more to life than that ^^

Maria Stoycheva

Quinn, dude, you realise you are practically naked, right? you are wearing just a shirt which, in that time, was practically underwear! you need at least (at least!) a vest on top of this! have some compassion for our poor nerves - we are all flushed and waving our fans out here like madpeople :D (jokes aside, I was looking at modern-day red carpet photos of women in just knickers today and I was struck at how much the amount of minimum acceptable clothing in public spaces has changed lol)

Tarini

Hindi TV shows like Naagin, Chandra Nandini and Diya Aur Baati Hum have that quintessential romance. Wish they were available on platforms for international audience with subtitles. However we do have a few webseries with fewer episodes like Heeramandi (on Netflix), Call Me Bae (on Prime Video, make audio hindi (हिंदी) if it is in english by mistake) that are available on streaming platforms with subtitles if you are interested. And hindi movies like Aashiqui 2, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Sanam Teri Kasam etc (available on a website called Einthusan with subtitles, you might need premium for no ads if you can't find them elsewhere). There is also a youtube channel that posts indian dramas with english subtitles called Dreamiyata Dramaa if you are interested 😊

Maria Stoycheva

I would like to pitch another short series AFTER 1995 Pride & Prejudice: Emma 2009 (with Romola Garai and Jonny Lee Miller, in particular!) - it is another Jane Austen adaptation. Emma is widely regarded as possibly Jane Austen's second-best book (best for some people!) and this version in particular, just like the 1995 P&P version, is very faithful to the book and beautifully acted. bonus: Clueless, which you watched recently and were mightily confused by (looking at you, Oak - I feel you, I've been on the internet too ;) ) is actually a modern adaptation of Emma! so it will definitely give you a much better understanding of Clueless and the whole 'step-brother' thing lol

Alexandra

Guys I love your reactions sooo much!!! KEEP IT GOING ❤️ Also, I personally don't usually stay for the entire commentary on pretty much everything EXCEPT for these Bridgerton reactions because they have been absolutely golden!! I love hearing your opinions and arguments about the episodes and how you feel about all the characters, it's so much fun!!

Rebecca B1

Thank you ! Edwina is really unfair in this episode and blame kates for everything when she actually sacrified everything for Edwina. She pisses me off !

Soph

You’re very slow. Labels and “isms” mean nothing when it’s thrown are so recklessly by sensitive souls like yourself. This is the first episode I’ve ever seen of this show and have previously never seen it advertised so I was confused if it’s meant to be a real story or made up. Take a chill pill 🤣😭😩

Loki

This was an amazing reaction! Perhaps some mocktails for the last two episodes?!

Kaley

I say this with all love and respect to Mason Quinn: I get he likes stirring the pot and having fun with Oak, but it’s getting a little much at this point…

Alanna Meyers 🍌

As a first time watcher, I agree. He never lied to her and said he loved her. Edwina is definitely not mature enough for Anthony either. Hoping she ends up with someone who loves her like she wants.

Terri

No, the books stick more to the time period. More like season 1, but without the diversity. Every season after they take more and more liberties with the plot and time period. It's basically fantasy, not history. Personally, I preferred season 1 where the only thing really changed with diversity. I thought it gave the show a charm, but I think most fans (at least of the show) prefer the more modernized/fantasy version.

Terri

I think a lot of fans agree extending the love triangle was a bad move.

Terri

It's a joke...

Soph

Thank you for your informative response! I’ll maybe have to check out s1!

Kiraaa

I don't think Edwina is concerned with being "perfect" in a superficial sense! She was herself the entire time at aubrey hall, which is a person who is just not the highly competitive, athletic or "rowdy" type. Rather, her nature is cerebral, introverted, sweet and even-tempered, which is not bad. Yeah, I just blame the writers for the ridiculous inconsistency that is Edwina declaring Anthony mislead her lol. It was enough drama for her to be upset with their secret attraction and the realization that this desire for a very specific life was pushed onto her and she never got to really figure out if it's what she actually wants

Maria Stoycheva

Are we all older siblings here? I agree with y'all, except I have seen this season enough times to start developing compassion for Edwina too. She's unfair but she's also so young. She's exactly the age where we all feel invincible, immortal and, most importantly, that we know everything worth knowing already. She literally didn't know any better 🤷

Aria Isara

Exactly, and this episode is why the season is not my fav, I feel like the writing didn't make much sense for the reason you detailed, the drama felt too artificial and not logical in terms of what was established before.

Aria Isara

How is he trolling? I don't think we have the same definition of trolling.

Aria Isara

Kiraaa I agree that the writing lacks logic in this episode, it contradicts things previously established.

Aria Isara

Some people are truly unhinged 🤮 as the other commenter said you dodged a bullet!!

Aria Isara

They've mentioned in almost every episode that they will react to QC, and they mentioned several times they will do it before S03...

Aria Isara

Same. She was eligible for marriage from the start, no one would have objected to him marrying her, so there was never any real obstacle, apart from Anthony being a moron 💀

Aria Isara

I'm confused by confused people. The show has plenty of POC in nobility, people fully accept mixed race weddings without any mention of race. The soundtrack is orchestral renderings of modern pop songs. Why on earth are you asking if it's meant to be historically realistic? 😂💀

Aria Isara

They should react to K3G! It's on the website if you haven't upvoted it. @kiss the librarian you can upvote it too, it's a hugely popular Bollywood movie. It has some late 90s early 2000s cringe but is also super enjoyable.

Aria Isara

Why are some folks mad at MQ??? lol yeah he rage baits Oak a bit, but I didn't find it annoying or overdone 🤷‍♀️ As to this ep I thought the writing was lacking. As others mentioned Anthony never pretended like he loved Edwina so the drama around that felt artificial. Also, there was no obstacle between him and Kate, she is eligible, she is not some random commoner, no one would have objected to him courting her. He just decided to go for the "diamond" out of sheer idiocy. Maybe he was purposely written like that but I still think the writers dragged out things a bit too much.

Aria Isara

By the way you guys should consider reacting to the Indian movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (nicknamed K3G), it's a modern classic, some early 2000s cringe but lots of fun too, and this episode of Bridgerton featured the title track.

Kiss the Librarian

Kate was eligible, if not ideal by society's standards (dubious parentage, "too old", no money). The obstacles were emotional, not social.

Kiss the Librarian

@Soph Gonna uno reverse the chill pill on Miss Thing insulting the intelligence of people trying to help her see the obvious.

Kiss the Librarian

@Kiraa I get what you're saying, and have to disagree on a couple things. I don't think this life was pushed on Edwina any more than it was pushed on other young women raised in aristocracy. The Sharmas lived at a palace in India and were expected to conform to a noble lifestyle, but they didn't have much money after the father died. So if Kate hadn't stepped in to serve as governess, then Edwina would have stood out for the wrong reasons (uneducated, poor etiquette/manners, etc). Kate could have left her family to work as a governess, but that would have obviously left them with few options - since older women with daughters weren't usually taken on as governesses (so Mary Sharma couldn't easily find work for herself). Kate said she hid the financial pressures from Edwina while she taught her, specifically because she wanted Edwina to find a love of her own choosing - without feeling forced in any particular direction. It's fair to point out that Edwina might have found love in India, perhaps with a nobleman there, but there would be no guarantee he'd support Edwina's mom - so Kate probably at least nudged Edwina toward finding an English husband instead, because of the inheritance that would protect their mother. I can't see Kate being oppressive about this, and Edwina would have done the same thing if she knew about the inheritance. Kate was stuck choosing for Edwina while trying to give her the best chance at love. And Kate always planned to go work for herself once her sister and mother were taken care of. It's debatable whether Edwina is being true to herself or genuine based on several moments leading up to the wedding. Kate describes Edwina as an enthusiast for love, references the storybook about love, but I don't recall Edwina putting that forward first on her own. The first thing she says she wants from a man is rank, title - looking good on paper - before Kate reminds her of the importance of love. Edwina later complains about how much Kate talked of love when they grew up, while Kate references how beautiful their father's love was with her own mother & Edwina's mother. At the poetry reading, Edwina dismisses the absence of love from Anthony and focuses on his honesty; leaving a question about how much she values love, or whether she is expecting it to grow where it isn't planted simply because she expects it to. That is a form of self-denial. At Aubrey Hall, Edwina seems to want to continue playing pall mall but decides not to retrieve her ball because she doesn't want to get her dress dirty, then leaves looking disappointed and expresses regret later - suggesting she was choosing to look perfect rather than do what she wanted in the moment. Throughout her courtship with Anthony she made very passive, compliant statements deferring to his wishes without asserting her own. Even when she tells Anthony about her interest in literature, she is still saying it to demonstrate her ability to accept life without him around and seek his approval. In contrast, she insists Kate visit often enough to become the favorite aunt to her children, indicating how much she values closeness from her loved ones - something she did not express when Anthony said he'd spend a lot of time away from her if they were married. Ultimately, Edwina ends the engagement because she realizes she values love and was not being true to herself by accepting less. She had to see a stark example of the king and queen's love, and get a reminder from the queen about love's importance, before realizing she valued it enough to change course. I doubt she'd have the courage to face the scandal if the queen hadn't given her the green light.

Marie RammGirl

Yea I don't get the sudden annoyance about it, people need to realise it's all done in jest & they've been best friends for years & years, for me I will ALWAYS find it entertaining, if some people don't like it, don't watch then.

Marie RammGirl

That is a shame if that is the case for you, but majority find it entertaining & actually the hilarious highlight of their reactions.

Marie RammGirl

Only for a few people for some weird reason, the majority of us find it entertaining ❤️

Marie RammGirl

I hope they never change too and don't stop it next episode because of a few complaints by sour people, majority of us love their back & forth bicker banter ❤️

Dani M

so excited for Charlotte's season!

Dani M

lol yeah my best friend acts exactly like MQ

Kayla Richardson

Eye roll for Edwina…. Girl, we been telling you all season not to marry him; lol, now you wanna act like folks been pushing this on you. It bothers me 😂

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

Come on, babe. cut her some slack; she was just charmed by that so-called sexy scarecrow. p.s. I don't see the appeal. 🤣😒🙄

Miya

Same! Our mans be going THROUGH IT during these episodes haha.

Miya

I guess I'm in the minority because I love this episode. Edwina is just so incredible in it. I love how we see her come into her own over the course of it. I just saw the episode being about her and not Kate/Anthony, so I didn't mind the pacing.

Miya

Woah. Totally disagree with this take. I appreciate the perspective though.

Miya

I'm super confused by all these comments about Edwina being disappointed that Anthony had not fallen in love with her. My understanding is that Edwina had fallen in love and thought Anthony had too after the Sheffeld dinner. I never got the impression she went into the engagement thinking they were a love match.

Miya

I'm truly living for your reactions to this series lol! I think this is my favorite episode in Season 2. The more times I watch it, the more I love it. I just love how we get to see Edwina coming into her own and realizing things about herself, the good and the bad. I also love how the relationship between the two sisters is explored, with Kate having the best intentions by bringing up Edwina to marry well and forgetting that her training, guidance, and, frankly, lies, ultimately led Edwina down a path she chose for her. It's so refreshing to see Edwina finally make her own choice and have it be something counter to what her sister wants for her. I could go on and on as this episode speaks to me on so many levels, but I'll end it there. Anyway, yay! I'm glad you guys are vibing with this season so much haha. ETA: I should add that I read the "because you love me?" moment totally different than I think a lot of commenters. I think Edwina knew and accepted her and Anthony weren't a love match when they got engaged. I think after she fell in love with him (post-Sheffeld dinner) she wanted to know if he had fallen in love with her and decided to go through with the wedding for that reason. Also, it was pretty clear that he was only going through with the marriage because Kate told him to and made it clear she was going to leave regardless. I think Edwina picked up on some of that as well.

About episode 5: Oak’s reaction at 12:00 — “Oh, no” during the ring measuring was hilarious 😂😂😂 And his extra excited “Oh, jealousy!” at 16:52 sent me! “Dude, you know how much it fucking kills me not watching these episodes?” — Oak is truly one of us!!! Oak’s hysterics when Anthony Head appeared on screen and nobody backed him up — 😂😂😂 But I totally get it! At that moment, I really wished you had watched the iconic Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Oak is the undeniable star of your Bridgerton reactions! I’ve never seen him this expressive and enthusiastic.

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

44:07 I knew Oak would lose his mind after Anthony’s “India is not far enough,” but it affected all of you — wow 🤩🤩🤩 That was my favorite moment from episode 5! Anthony: “Once the engagement is over, our parts need never cross again.” Oak, offended as if Anthony had rejected him personally: “WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST SAY?” Me: dying laughing 😂😂😂 Maison Quinn and Oak’s beef cracks me up every single episode! But sometimes MQ definitely provokes Oak a bit too much — he needs to chill out. but who I’m lying? I’m eating it up 😝😝

Josie

Nah fr. Like I understand nothing against Edwina and bless her soul, but like we have to remember everyone has been telling her from day 1 Anthony isn't looking for love. Then each time Kate tries to tell her she goes into this deep fantasy love spill about a fake Anthony she's grown to love. I'm just like girl there were so many signs you just chose to ignore the blazing ignorance in your face until the last possible minute xD

Kiss the Librarian

@Kelsey That's valid. Edwina's arc feels just as important to me as Kanthony's, and actually a parallel or mirror to their hang-ups but from a different perspective. In that light, Edwina's story is less about playing the sacrificial lamb as it is learning to choose more wisely and be true to yourself - the same lesson Kate and Anthony learn. Maybe it's just because I can relate to everyone in the story? I've tried to play Princess Perfect to get the guy while ignoring what he clearly communicated he was looking for, and was disappointed. I can also relate to the early childhood trauma / caregiver sibling issues that drove me to put myself last or wall off feelings, etc. Learned the hard way in each case. But not every story is relatable to everyone obviously, so I get it.

Kelsey Roberts

Oh I totally relate to Edwina. Probably too much so. Sometimes it’s hard to see tough truths reflected back to us, and I agree that the best part of Edwina’s story is her arriving at her own sense of self and identity.

Kelsey Roberts

You don’t need to call it weird just because it’s different to yourself…

Kiss the Librarian

@Miya Why do you think Edwina believed Anthony loved her? After the Sheffield dinner, Edwina said she began to love Anthony (a new level for Edwina and news to Kate). During her wedding night prep, Edwina presumed Anthony showed "true feeling" by moving up the wedding while doubting it because he didn't pay much attention to her or even look at her. So we can gather that Anthony never proclaimed love or lied about his feelings - his honesty in that regard was something Edwina valued even when he told her he wasn't going to offer love. She easily accepted the idea Anthony wouldn't even be around to spend time with her during their marriage. From what I recall, the show demonstrated pretty clearly that Edwina was pursuing a hope for the future rather than the reality Anthony presented. I've made that mistake and I don't blame Edwina, she just had a lot to learn.

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

About Ep 6 “All of these deductions that you seem to make — and then resent — are for naught. Though they do not make you worthy of your family’s respect. They simply make us pity you.” — That was the bar from Daphne! I was as gagged as you were! When Anthony saw Kate in her wedding dress and MQ and DD teased Oak with “Who hasn’t been there?”, I was cackling 😂😂😂 That was a good one! “Because… you love me? Because I understand you.” That was tough 🙈🙈🙈 and your reaction to it was so relatable! Oak’s relieved reaction when Anthony and Kate finally kissed was hilarious! But when he said in the post-discussion, “I’m so lost,” — I really felt that!

Miya

I think you answered your own question. She thought he had caught feelings for her because of how he stood up for her and her family at the Sheffeld dinner.

Kiss the Librarian

@Miya, no, you're assuming a lot and ignoring a lot. I don't think there's enough in that scene for Edwina to decide Anthony loves her. He compliments both daughters and their mothers, and he's visibly angry to learn about the inheritance plan. Then he tells her grandparents to kick rocks, and leaves Edwina unsure if the wedding is still on. Why do you think that night would persuade her he loves her?

Ryùuzaki

Oak is killing me man

Lucinda Michel

Interesting tidbit: the actor who plays Prudence Featherington is the daughter of the actor who plays Dolores Umbridge.

Rajdeep Kang

to be fair to Anthony he always told Edwina from the beginning that he wasn’t marrying for love but for duty 😭

Anica Savkić

I really hate Edwina. Her mother and sister made her life as easy as possible, she did not know the worry, the stress and the strife because she was a child, and then she grows up and now it is their fault, she didn’t “ask” for it… yes, because when she was 12 she wanted to know how they were struggling financially while she was dancing and learning French and playing the piano…. Please! How entitled can you be. No thank you, no nothing. No one would have taken her without a dowery, btw! Even if she was the diamond.

Amara C

Violet did tell Daphne to focus on the small happy things in her marriage like her future children but ONLY when Daphne was about to be forced to marry creepy Nigel Berbrooke. When Violet saw that Daphne was only marrying the prince due to rank she urged her to choose the Duke because she saw that they really loved each other.

Demanda

Exactly!

Alies

Omg Oak 😂 why are you going so hard on poor Mason here ?

D

Woah the victim blaming is so strong in this one 😅 edwina is what? 17-18? And 30+ year old Antony perused her despite Kate’s efforts to keep him away to the point where edwina fell in love with him. He could have let it go but he just had to win this one. He even told his brothers “why must I be the one to give in”. Like come one. Edwina is the one person who was fooled from the beginning. So pls miss me with the “she annoyed me”. It was NOT her fault she fell for Anthony’s immaturity. Love Kate and Anthony but maturing is realising they’re a fun ship but absolutely are at fault for hurting Edwina. Good thing is, she moved on.

rosie s

I think Antony’s family are really ungrateful and spoilt. They do whatever they want with no regard to the work Antony does to keep a roof over their heads. All they do is give him grief. Disown the lot of them😂

rosie s

Really annoyed with Daph and siblings so bloody ungrateful. Antony ensured their ability to do what they wanted, to have a roof over their head, to marry into wealth and to marry for love and all they do is ridicule or tell him how they pity him. Cut them all off Antony let them fend for themselves

Samantha

We raised peacocks when I was growing up. It wasn't so bad but the noise was a lot.

Mintteacup

I cant even feel happy for Kate and Anthony after them trampling all over Edwina's heart
