It's wild to think that this was really Adam Scott's first big foray into comedy (in a major role), given he's basically become one of the best comedic actors working today. He's also just great in general, but he's so damn funny. He talked about how intimidated and out of place he felt on the set because he'd never really done any sort of improv and, again, was a much more serious actor in general, so getting thrown into the improv world with people like Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, and Kathryn Hahn was like being taught to swim by being thrown into a shark tank.

Oh and also: I'll never forget when I saw this in the theater, a guy came in with two small children who were probably about 9 or 10. By the time the nuts came out on the drum kit, he had finally realized that yep, he had made a giant mistake and they immediately left.

I'm not a fan of this one. It shocks people when I tell them. I mightve liked it a little more if coworkers hadn't quoted every single joke in it several times, trying to convince me to watch it. I think I laughed once when I finally did. Now, Talladega Nights, I never get sick of that one.

I'm with MQ, Will's comedy has never been my brand. The films of "his" I do like, is because his costars knock it out of the park, like "A Night at the Roxbury." John C Reilly, is also the same for me. I like the style of comedy they go towards it's just that they fail to pull it off for me, if that makes sense. However, I will say I liked this movie, which surprised me, but for everyone besides the two mains. 🤣🤣🤣 Probably because I saw it (brother forced me) when it first came out so I was in on the jokes/quotes vs everyone watching it almost 20 years later. Also....I can't believe this movie is that old. I swear it just came out like 5 years ago. 😭😭😭

I'm going to be real; I'm 20 years old. I only know Will Ferrell mainly from this movie. Step Brothers is probably the only movie I've watched of his that I liked or came back to, or maybe it's because Brothers is probably his best work and iconic to a lot of people. So I can't say that I agree with Mason Quinn's point of view on Will Ferrell's humor and I can't disagree with his view because some of it made sense for me, but it was funny for me. I'm in the fucking middle, but I just take the ride and enjoy it.😂❤

Chiming in here because the Tropic Thunder chat is stale now. I really didn't enjoy the Tropic Thunder reaction - it wasn't fun watching MQ not laughing, and I don't really want to watch him watch Will Ferrell. If everyone hasn't seen something it's cool, but not when it's only new to someone because it is truly not their cup of tea, in my opinion.

I was expecting to have fun on this rewatch, as I haven't seen this movie in well over a decade and the grave digging scene is what stood out the most in my memory, but I'm with Mason Quinn here. I do tend to enjoy Will Ferrell, albeit there's a lot of his stuff that I still haven't seen. This one felt very over the top. I enjoyed it back in the day when I had little experience in adult comedy, but it did feel very juvenile rewatching now. Still love the grave digging scene though lol: "But I'm alive!" "Your waking the neighbors!" was something I quoted a lot back in the day . Also the iconic "Did we just become best friends?" and, my shortened version of a quote, "It'll give us so much extra space for activities!"

100% agree with Quinn on this one, this kinda humour is not my cup of tea at all, if it wasn't for you guys watching it, I would of got bored & stopped watching, once you've seen 1 Will Ferrell movie, you've seen them all, feel sorry for poor Quinn, having to sit through the rest of his movies, I'm not a fan of either Actor in the main roles to be honest, I've had friends say "oh wait til you see the bedbunk scene you'll change your mind & crack up laughing" but nope nothing, the only scene I found somewhat amusing was the Bathroom 'Furious Jumping' scene between Alice/Dale, otherwise it's a miss for me, I'm actually surprised Quinn gave it a 3 & not a lower score, also think that's the 1st time Oak suggested he should get a piece of clothing that Quinn might actually wear with the 'Kawasaki' TShirt.

When it comes to Will Ferrell movies they're a hit or miss for me, about the same level with Adam Sandler, personally I'm a Jim Carrey die hard, with that being said this is one I enjoy quite a bit but I can see how some people won't care for this film. Like you said Quinn, I think it does drag on, just a wee bit for me, but it's still hilarious to me. Solid 4/5, can't put it up there with something like White Chicks or Malibu's Most Wanted but still a great comedy.
