Alyssa Dyson

Loved the book and the movie when they came out..dont feel like crying right now though maybe later lol 😝💜

Jo

"kick him" - that made me laugh so hard omg

Jodi

Nicholas sparks wrote the book based off of his sister that passed away from cancer who had her own Landon.

Amanda Diaz

This movie makes me bawl everytime, such a good & sad movie.

Violet Integration

I haven’t watched this in years and I’m a sobbing mess right now. Great reaction. I hope you guys will do The Choice at some point. It’s my fav Nicholas Sparks movie.

Ashley

The author Nicholas Sparks’ Sister as an adult was also diagnosed with cancer and ended up getting married to someone while she was terminally ill so he based the novel on that. She was an adult I think in her 20s or 30 so she wasn’t in high school but that was the inspiration.

Amaia

That's such a powerful detail I wish they would've included it in the movie

Amaia

One of my favorite romance movies that makes me cry every time. I love it but tend to avoid rewatching a lot due to how emotional I get. It's like a blend of The Fault in Our Stars, 10 Things I Hate About You, and Me Before You. I haven't read the book yet but it's on my list. I'm curious what was left out of the movie since I also wish it went more into detail about Landon's family and life after Jamie. I like the message of always treating people well bc you never know what someone is going through, but I think my only critique is how Landon's friends with toxic traits only became a better person after finding out Jamie's sick. I know it makes people realize how short life is, but no one should only be kind if you're sick, dying, or have some type of big trauma. Everyone should be nice regardless, so their quick transformation wasn't very realistic and didn't impact me as much as Landon's, who showed that he has good in him from the start that just needed to be brought out. I don't care if someone suddenly chooses to be nice to me when I'm sick if they never were when I was doing well. That's pity, not kindness or respect. Mandy Moore singing "Only Hope" is an iconic scene. The song and her voice are SO beautiful. If you enjoyed her performance, I hope you'll react to the drama show "This Is Us" at some point, which Mandy stars in. Her acting is even better in that. It's been recommended on the website and is an award-winning show about everyday struggles like career challenges, family conflict, self worth, marriage, eating disorders, and mental health. Everyone can relate to certain situations or characters. The casting and writing makes it one of my top 5 favorite shows. I also never get tired of seeing how deeply Oak is affected by emotional movies and it's so refreshing to see men openly talk about and enjoy films like this. 53:57 was a hilarious highlight of this reaction seeing you all do that hand movement 😂

Amaia

That’s so sweet 🥲 That reminded me I haven’t read the book yet as a book lover, so thanks for commenting

Lauren

Mandy Moore is a FORCE in “This is Us.” I highly recommend anyone who hasn’t seen that show to watch it.

Miss Freaky

Ready to click, play and cry!! Lol, thanks boys! :) jk

Amaia

They need to watch This Is Us! She’s incredible in it

Ailene Evangelista

I love this movie, and yes it makes me cry every time I watch it. 😭 I read the book so it wasn’t a surprise when I saw the movie, but it’s still devastating when we get the reveal. The soundtrack is also so good, a lot of great Switchfoot songs.

Amanda Diaz

they would absolutely love This Is Us, i always recommend that should to a few reactors. so far only one has, and he loved it. such an amazing tv show.

Lauren

Which reactor?

Tara ✨💫

Thank you! I never read thhe book, but always wondered why is was called A Walk To Remember

Kaley

Agreed! Pretty sure Diamond Dave has seen it!

Knightmare

Me and MQ got confused at the same part. He accused her of "hiding" behind her telescope, sweaters, and faith... like what WAS he talking about 😂 Such random accusations. Did Landon not consider that maybe she actually... liked that stuff?! 🤦🤣

Adrianna Marie Aka AD

I was 11 years old when this came out. I remember the girls at school talking about it. I can never make it through without crying. It really makes me miss that part of me that believed in things like this

Cody Book

I remember boring this from a cousin because I had a huge crush on Mandy moore back then. Boy was I in for a rough ride. Ive seen the movie many times since then and it makes me cry every single time

Amaia

@Kaley, how do you know?! I would have loved to see DD’s first watch

Amaia

Yeah, that comment was uncalled for and didn’t make sense. They’re literally hobbies and parts of her identity…she’s not hiding behind anything 😂

Danny

I've seen this movie many times and it always gets me. I have the same reaction like Oak 😭

Badd Medicine

I (DD) never have seen it and actually never heard of if until y'all started recommending it 🤙🤙🤙 unless you are talking about this is us and that I have seen.

Cayman Cider

This movies clearly dated. A product of its time. Gotta cut it some slack and watch it with 2002 eyes 😅

Angela 🌺

Ahh... life before the internet and social media. Such a simpler time, lol!

Vonnie Stewart

now the show "this is us" starring the incredible Mandy Moore

Matthew Glover

This is wild lol I remember as a kid, around like 14 or 15 i think, i watched this movie,as well as perks of being a wallflower, and the fault in our stars all in like a day or two. Now you guys are watching these movies, going down the same rabbit hole of these teen life dramas. Such good movies, looking forward to rewatching this and seeing yall's opinion on this.

Annie519

This film is a good one to re-watch and pick up the little hints about Jamie and it hits so much harder knowing what is going to happen. Like when Landon says "and I'm too young to die" or "tell that to the people who suffer." And pretty much all of her scenes with her father is foreshadowing. His reaction at the play hints so different, he's practically shaking and in tears. I do believe the reason why her dad was so against them was not to protect Jamie, but to protect Landon from heartbreak, just like he had to go through with his wife. Now, I think in the beginning he just didn't like him, but once they became official that changed. I love Jamie and I really appreciate you guys recognizing that not only did Jamie help and make Landon better but everyone around her, including all of his friends. And that is why they needed Landon and his friends to be unlikable as possible, it wouldn't have worked if you didn't see a genuine change. I love that she stands by her beliefs, doesn't care what anyone thinks about her and she is just a sweet, wonderful person. I like too that she can be sarcastic, funny and will call people out when needed, stand up for herself. And since they mentioned that they had known each other since kindergarten, that there may have been crushes from both of them at a young age. He sure did know quite a bit about her, but of course he blocked it out once he met his friends and became popular. Now for Landon, I again appreciate that you noticed that there was hints at him actually being a good person. She didn't necessarily change him, but just brought out what was really underneath. He was the only one that stayed with Clay, he didn't leave until he woke up and conscience and it led him getting caught. He could have easily slept with Belinda when he drove her home, despite not having feelings for her, but he didn't and aside from the "in your dreams" scene, he never makes fun of her, he actually defends her a little. I have never read the book, so this is just my take. But I have always thought that Landon's behavior stemmed from his father and that he had wanted to be a doctor for a long time, to follow his father's footsteps but after the dad left, most likely left his mom for another woman, he dropped it completely and now didn't know what to do, so he just was skating by until graduation, which also led to anger and resentment. The scene with him and his dad is my favorite scene. To me, not only is he crying because he's finally making amends with him but he's finally letting out his pain. Aside from crying just a little bit in the car, he never let it out and he needed to. And I just love that his dad just hugs him, no other words said. I also love that his dad is his best man, he's standing right next to him.

Terri

i saw this in the theater when I was in high school. Went with a whole group of friends and I'd never even see a trailer, so I had no idea what was coming. I loved it, but I was so mad at how it turned out. I wasn't a huge fan of sad endings back then. Still am not sometimes. This is the only movie I've ever cried over in the theater. Being in my 40's now, I can say that it did change my perspective some. Especially with the other kids in the film and even the dad. Also just the concept of time. This film shows you what does/doesn't matter in life. His popularity and "coolness" meant nothing in the end. It was the people that supported him and believed in him that matters. Not the ones that liked him because he was "cool."

Castiel

Ok early morning at work… let’s cry at my desk 😅😭

Ana Setefano

Every time I watch this movie , I always laugh at Deans 🤟🏽🤟🏽🖖🏽✌🏽🖐🏽 scene after he got punched so I’m glad yall reacted like that hahaha I also love that the lil hints didn’t give it away that she was sick and the shock factor was when she actually said it .

Malene Jensen

So glad to see you guys react to this movie❤️ Landon crying in the car and the hug between him and his dad always gets me. I was 15 the first time i saw this movie. I thought I was going to see a typical high school romance movie. Oh boy I do remember that same gut punch. Up in til that point I thought some of the dialogue was a little wired, but it made sense in the end.

the bus crash talk was freaking hilarious

Annie519

The scene with him and his dad is my favorite scene in the movie. It's absolutely beautiful and performed perfectly. So much weight and anger was finally lifted off Landon's shoulders and made amends with him, but also he was finally able to really let out his pain. Aside from crying a little bit in the car, he had never really broke down about Jamie and he needed to. I totally get he wouldn't in front of her, he had to be strong for both of them but you can just see it was relieving for him to let out and I just love his dad doesn't say a word, he just hugs me. And the cherry on the cake was him being his best man at the wedding.

Annie519

I know! They clearly were confused at the "then be fair to him Jamie" scene, but it never crossed their minds that she was sick and to me that made it an even better reaction. My favorite reactions from these guys are the chick flicks, how invested they get is so great.

Amaia

@Badd Medicine I'm still confused...you have seen it? We're talking about This Is Us :)

Ally

In the book she actually arrived at the wedding in a wheelchair because her health has deteriorated a lot but she’s able to stand up and walk down di aisle… that’s the meaning of “a walk to remember” and that way it’s way more meaningful than in the movie 🤍 also the Oak blowing on Mason’s shoulder killed me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Gambit3838

I loved this movie so much. Mostly because I was crazy for Mandy Moore back then. During the height of the popstar wars, she was my #1. Lol

36:17 — MQ: “You see what I’m saying? I don’t think this movie’s gonna work.” End of the film: Wow. I didn’t expect that. I was sure you’d change your opinion about Landon, because there’s no way you weren’t touched by his actions and his love for Jamie! “Landon, don’t walk away.” “You taught me how.” These lines really left an impression on me over the years. 53:06 Oak: “Is there not a person in the lunchroom with a shred of fucking decency?” MQ: “No, that’s why we’re gonna have a bus crash.” 😂😂😂😂 Your reaction to the punch scene and mimicking the shitty friend at 53:58 was priceless! But when Landon said “I love you” at 1:03:08, it was even better! The stunned reactions from all three of you!

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

Jamie: “I’m sick.” Oak: 😩😩😩 Cannon: 😧😧😧 MQ: 🙃🙃🙃 Yeah… it’s one of those kinds of stories. “Oh fuck” is the perfect way to describe it… I love how in the first part of the movie you were joking around and hating all the kids, and in the second half you were completely silent and focused! I knew this movie would make at least one of you cry, and I’m not surprised it was Oak! Totally relatable, though. I cry multiple times during the second half on every rewatch… I just can’t help it 😭😭 And I’m not a very religious person, and I don’t usually like religious themes in movies or literature. However, in this film, faith in God is portrayed so beautifully that I could only admire Jamie for the strength of her faith. And the message of the story is truly powerful — how one person can genuinely have a profound impact on the lives of those around them. Jamie definitely saved Landon, just like he says at the end. He was her angel and her miracle, but she was his guiding star and his teacher! P.S. “Only Hope” from this movie is one of my favorite songs ever! It’s such a jam and never gets old. Mandy Moore was (and maybe still is, I’m not sure) a great singer!

Maisie

I forgot how young Mandy Moore was in this. She was only 16!! She was a good actress even back then, and only improved with age.

Tassana Burrfoot

I love this movie. And I cry every time, especially when Landon goes to his dad for help and then again when he thanks his dad. The whole movie is just beautiful.

Marie RammGirl

Oak's "What are you playing a Ukulele?" during Answer's air guitar & blowing on Quinn's shoulder made us burst into unexpected laughter 😂 also liked all your "Hex Horns" poses during the lunchroom scene, Quinn's distain of Landon at first & his "Shovel" comment was amusing too. The contrast in this movie, the 1st half laughing along with the guys reactions to stuff & then had us tearing up to the 2nd half with that sad news & all sweet things he did for her & agree with Quinn's comment of the impact Jamie had on everyone for the better, it's interesting how his ambition was to go to Medical School since he also played 'Dr Ray Barnett' on 'ER' TV show (that's where I recognised him from) "Her love is like the wind, I can't see it, but I can feel it" what a powerfully emotional line to end it on. ❤️

Terri

So it wasn't that she just had those hobbies. It was that she purposefully used her lifestyle, hobbies, even being the reverend's daughter to not join in. It wasn't that she could only afford one sweater. She just didn't see the need for more and also not looking to be vain. She could've joined in more in high school. Could've bought more than one sweater. Could've done her makeup. Still could've had all the hobbies she did. But she HIDES behind all of that because a part of her was trying to keep herself separated. Wasn't TRYING to make connections with people she'd just have to leave behind. She was afraid. To hurt them and herself. But Landon got underneath all of that and it was hard for her. That's why she said she didn't "need a reason to be angry at God." Because he made her want to LIVE and experience life more. Before, she was almost just existing and trying to enjoy her own stuff, but she wasn't ACTUALLY living.

Charlotte Carter PhD.

Oh my god I would love to watch them react to this is us 🤩😭

Alanna Meyers 🍌

Appleton Oak is a fall baby I believe and Diamond Dave was born in winter I think and Answer in spring. Those are the only ones I know /remember

Kuha Mo

hope you guys take this as constructive criticism and not as hate but could you guys please stop looking at each other too much or too long when doing your commentaries? because you guys are missing A LOT of whats happening on screen just like when Oak missed that (spoilers) frog eating the butterfly moment on Hoppers.
