Lock_Down

This movie traumatized me as my first ghost movie

Malene Jensen

Just FYI the Badd Medicine Website: The Grudge (watch along & Uncut available) link takes me to the Project Hail Mary reaction

I'm Batman

Had to comment early, another Sam Raimi film is Drag Me To Hell. It's my 2nd favorite movie by him (1st being Evil Dead). Adding this comment in the hopes y'all react to Drag Me To Hell at some point, preferably soon lol.

Mintteacup

Naaaaaah, yall got this. I'm gonna sit this one out and just read the comments xD

Loki

I am torn - I wanna watch the reaction but also when I watched this for the first time I couldn't sleep with the light turned off for about two weeks straight and forget about hallways and stair wells. I'm still traumatized I think. And I watched the American and Japanese version for class. Japanese version was more terrifying.

Loki

Drag me to hell - that movie was insane. Big regrets watching it because it scared me lol.

Chris

Idk about this one, this and the ring always freaks me out lol, hmm maybe if I watch it while it’s day time 🫣

Mari

do you mean Drag Me to Hell? That's a good one too.

I'm Batman

I'm really dumb, I totally said the wrong name. It's Drag Me To Hell. After saying it out loud I sounded weird so I had to look it up lol. Thank God we can edit our comments lol.

stray

Hmkay let me watch this when the sun is up 😌

Mari

Is this the US version? The original Japanese was way better, and it was a real nightmare.

I'm Batman

It's quite impressive given it was rated PG-13

I'm Batman

Yep sure did, in my defense I still haven't fully woken up yet lol

melrr

Yea it's the american version. I prefer the OG Japanese version personally as well.

Shannon

Same, it scarred me when it watched it on my 12th birthday 😂 and I hate jump scares, this one has a lot 😅 but part of me wants to watch!

Al

Lmao, i’m loving y’alls reaction. This version & the sequel is a guilty pleasure of mine to watch every year in October. Oak describes it well when he says it’s “just a whole lot of Fuck That!” 😂

Darci

Oh I loved this movie, scared the bayjesus outta me but loved it 😍

Ron B.

Hoping we can watch some classic horror movies like the Jason and Freddy movies leading all the way up to Freddy vs Jason.

Kickinthescience

Ah the era of girls in dirty dresses and nightgowns bringing terror

Joshua

Answer having to tell Oak not to flip off the camera.. 😂😂 hilarious.

Stephanie Kirk

I'm with Oak, jump scares scare the crap out of me! I end up closing my eyes a lot during scary movies just for that reason.

Chen

Just an fyi, the original version is Japanese. I hope you give it a chance. Its just I feel that its not given much credit as the original. My grandma lives in Japan so we watched the Japanese horror movies before they got adapted. They're even better. Just wish they can get more recognition.

Malene Jensen

Answer just sitting there with his big smile, while Oak is over there having his wtf moments😂 Love it!

H. AW

1:16:37 mason quinn had me dead with the "i mean how long did she know doug" i'm in tearssss

I'm Batman

Man, forgot how good of a scary movie this is. Didn't jump or anything like that, but the tension you feel from the buildup and the dread you feel whenever the ghost girl shows up is one to put a shiver down your spine. Timeless movie right here, one of the best PG-13 horror movies ever. Edit: Forgot to rate it. 5/5 obviously

I'm Batman

Oh if you guys are watching this to prep up for the Scary Movie movies I really really really hope y'all do the Saw movies. Granted you only need to see the first one but I'm willing to beg for all of them, the Saw franchise is my absolute favorite horror franchise. PLEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEE CONSIDER IT!!!!!

Mari

This is good too and I had fun watching Oak's reaction hahaha

Crispy

I didn't wear Hoodies after this XD

Gail Ferguson

What got me was when she attempted to open the door and Kayoko's head is there and slides down. Yeah, I slept with the lights on for four nights. Our primary bedroom door opened right to the top of the stairs and I had the heebeejeebees. Only movie that did it to me. I haven't seen the Japanese version.

mae_annabelle

because of this movie, when i lived in japan, i had the worst times spending the night at friends houses especially if they had older japanese homes.

Gail Ferguson

Ted Raimi is Sam Raimi's brother. Ya'll yelled about Spider-Man, but when I see him I yell "Joxer!" because I first saw him on Xena, Warrior Princess.

Victoria 🌱

A childhood nightmare LET’S REVISIT THIS

BecauseBeca

Saw this when I was like 9 and it traumatized me. I remember really enjoying the grudge 2, but I never watched beyond that.

Shannon

😂😂 yep I had to remove my TV from my bedroom for months after watching The Ring (also on my 12th birthday). Crazy 😂

Crispy

You guys should react to VHS one of the best found footage apart from blair witch

Maisie

As soon as I saw the poster I went full Oak--"PASS!"

Megan

Mind you I was elementary, maybe 6th grade age when this came out. My college age sister and I saw this and afterwards, we would call each other just to do the grudge noise over the phone. 🤣🤣🤣 It's funny because I was never scared as a kid, I come from a horror loving family. But The Ghost Pictures and the Blumhouse intros would always startle me for some reason. If this movie did scare you, I promise after seeing Scary Movie's version, you'll quickly have this movie replaced. I can't watch The Ring or The Grudge without cracking up and quoting Scary Movie. Oh and Sarah's movie boyfriend is Jason Behr aka Roswell heartthrob Max.

Megan

I second this, I loved it and I can just hear The Oak's reactions. 🤣🤣🤣

roxie c

ooh i hope they watch that one too! i can already see their disgusted and WTF faces :D

roxie c

oh look, it’s the film that traumatized me when i was a kid

Jesse B

Ah yess I remember watching this in broad daylight with all the blinds open because ain’t no way I was gonna watch this at night 😂😂😂

Jesse B

😂😂😂

Blud

My sister would scare the crap out of me by making that noise whenever a room was dark.

Chantal

Oak wanted no parts of this 😂😂

Yolo Samurai

So I had a friend around the time this came out who was scary movie guy. This was one of the few movies that actually got to him. When I eventually watched this for myself, I found out why...

FD

I was braver as a kid because I watched this and other horror movies but I’m skipping this reaction and avoid horror movies in general now

Kevin Landon

When i was a young warthog, this was THE scariest movie.

Bri

Saaaame

Bri

No seriously! 😂 I wasn't allowed to watch Harry Potter either but somehow my dad let me watch this with him lmao.

Loki

argh the horror, I wouldn't have been ok

Loki

Can we get a highlight reel of all the reactions to the scary bits for us scaredy cats that want to see but not be traumatized and run up a light bill!? I can't even look at the image lmaooo, the mere thought of seeing....seeing it.. it is already scaring me and I'm going to have to watch some Disney before bed now

Artem Dmytrenko

Hm, The Exorcist and The Grudge this month. Are we getting ready for the Very Scary Movie franchise? 🤔

S Kim

Omg I don’t watch a lot of horror movies but I remember watching this as a kid. Total nightmare lol

S Kim

I don’t think these movies are as scary when you watch it as a reaction. I just try not to put the volume up too high and don’t watch at night lol.

fuyutyun

haven’t seen this one and the comments are daunting lol - seems like i’ll be doing a first watch with you guys! hope this doesn’t scar me for forever

J

I LOVE HORROR, I watch it to fall asleep but let's just say I'm 28 now and The Grudge left a lasting impression on me 😅

J

I first watched The Grudge (the Original Japanese Version is ELITE!!! than this US version) at age 8 and let's just say she left a lasting impression on me. I'm 28 now and it STILL creeps me out. This is coming from someone who uses horror movies to fall asleep to 🤣

Gabby

I love the Answer’s “ Sevón” 7

Shookjwinnie

I'd say for horror movies, you have to watch Thai horror movies! They make super scary stuff haha start off with Shutter (2004).

Cassandra

And you know what we really never find out how long she knew Doug!

Matthew Glover

This was the first movie that actually genuinely scared me when i was a kid. I remember being afraid to sleep at night sometimes, just constantly staring at the dark corners of my walls waiting for that muh'fugga to come get me lmao Im curious to see whats it like watching this 20 something years later, ive only watched it the one time

Jacqueline (xXMalaaaXx YT)

My best friend had very long black hair in high school and she would always torture us with flipping her hair over her face and slowly walking towards us 😭

fuyutyun

i’m back after watching! i can’t say i’m scarred for life but i was definitely mimicking Oak’s expressions for most of the movie haha. Horror has never been a go-to for me but I still enjoy it!

Matthew Glover

Writing this as im watching so im not sure if they talk about it later, but the son of the mother is the actor who plays Ethan in "Lost". Im pretty sure thats what Oak recognizes him from,as i know Oak is a fan of lost. His face is unmistakable. The actors name is William Mapother Jr.

Aubrey

This might be one of my favorite reactions, which leaves me very conflicted, because I'd like to watch it again, but I'm not a huge fan of scary movies.

Dani M

this was the first movie that traumatized me as a kid 😭

Trinity Hyde

Omgg I want them to react to The Shutter now !!!

Kuha Mo

this will probably be my first time watching a full version reaction but without syncing anything lmaooo. ill just watch you guys.

Thtjustinguy

have they seen shutter Island? IF not that would be another great horror movie to follow this imo.

Ally

Saaaaaaame

Olive_Sandy

Did she just fucking die?! 😂 I had so much fun with this reaction thanks guys xx

Ciara A.G.

In regard to paranormal experiences. I was 15, it was at 1PM in the middle of summer. I didn’t wanna go back outside because it was hot and the basement was much cooler. I was listening to music and playing pool (grandparents had a pool table). I was gonna start a round and the radio (plugged in boom box style) started getting staticky. I initially got kind of annoyed but I walked over and tapped the top of it and it fixed itself. Walked back over and as I picked up the pool stick the radio started getting staticky and crackling again. I rolled my eyes and went back over and straight smacked it. Didn’t work. Shrugged and started messing with the antennae. Still wasn’t working. Unplugged it and moved it closer to me. Started working fine. (Keep in mind, this beast has never done this, ever. It wasn’t new but this thing was built to last). I got about 1/4 of the way through a game and the radio started doing it again but it started getting louder and instead of messing with it, I just stared at it. I suddenly felt uneasy and the radio just shut itself off. I stood there blinking at it like an idiot and started to slowly walk toward it to investigate. As I was about to touch the radio, (my grandpa had some like standees stored in the corner of the basement specifically Three Stooges Standees.) I heard something kind of moving from that corner. I thought maybe a mouse or rat and was going to turn to ignore it but right before I turned this 6 foot tall standee that was leaned up against the wall with a chair in front of it “fell” forward from the corner, moving the chair in the process. I took a deep breath and said “fuck that” and started heading toward the basement door to go outside and the radio came back on. I’ve had other experiences that can’t be explained away with sleep paralysis or being in a half asleep dream state. Each experience, except one, has been me wide awake. While I don’t believe in the typical hauntings that shows and movies try to push onto people to scare them, I do believe there is something supernatural that can happen sometimes. (As a side note. Grandparents had no natural running water through their property, there wasn’t any electrical issues that would cause any of that, I asked my grandpa and he checked to make sure that all the plugs were fine.)

dreams⁷

Reading the comments, why did we all watch this as children??😭😭 what was wrong with us lmao. This one traumatized little me from taking showers and sleeping under covers xD

STILL SIMPLE_B

I hope you'll be encouraged to watch Shutter. I fear for Oak's heart, but you can't ignore this gem of horror. I love your reactions, and I'm looking forward to next week! My English isn't the best, so I hope you don't mind if I translate it very literally in my head.

jo

i want a horror reaction once a week solely because watching oak is pure comedy 🤣🤣 i can’t stop giggling oh my god

Marie RammGirl

Yay for another awesome jumpscare moment from Oak haha! Quinn's "His doing the Ricky Saints over there" had us in stitches of laughter 😂 this was a 1st time watch for me too & it was a fascinating horror film, cool seeing Ted Raimi (ya all know him from Spiderman, but I recognise him as 'Joxer' in Xena Warrior Princess show) & cool seeing KaDee Strickland (I recognise her as 'Charlotte' role in Private Practice show) I've never seen the Scary Movie franchise either, so this will be a good watch for me too going through the list with ya great guys :) ❤️

DustinEatWorld

Thanks for the reaction 🙏 I still think that when you watch horror movies, you should dim the light on your faces as well. People would still be able to see you clearly enough. Candles in front of you would actually be the best option. But they’d probably be too dangerous in the studio. And the movie isn’t by Sam Raimi, it’s by Takashi Shimizu. Raimi was only the producer. And it must’ve been really hard for Answer not to laugh. Half of Scary Movie 4 is basically based on that movie.

DustinEatWorld

I can recommend the Korean original of A Tale of Two Sisters to you guys, as well as the Korean movie The Wailing from 2016.

DustinEatWorld

When I was 15, this remake scared the hell out of me. Now, watching it again with you guys 22 years later, it wasn’t even remotely as scary/good as it felt back then 🤣😅

Terri

This was a good movie, but I can't watch it again. One of the few movies that I've seen that has actually scared me. Isn't this the one where the hand reaches up and grabs the ankle on the bed? I think of that when I lay down sometimes and it creeps me out. I'm in my 40's and I still have to turn the light on if I start thinking of that. So nope...can't watch this.

Knightmare

I always thought The Ring was better 😝

kimmy

@24:28 Appleton Oak, to answer your question... that's Ethan from "Lost"

Wilde1890

I still think about the shower scene......and the bed covers scene had me freaked out for months afterward. I was in high school when it came out and what me and a friend watched at sleepovers,

Lindsay

I watched this when it came out. I was in college, and my boyfriend and I had a studio apartment. The bathroom light fixture made a buzzing/groaning noise that sounded almost exactly like the ghost in this movie. Between that and the ghost hand while SMG was showering, I couldn’t take a shower unless my boyfriend was home and the bathroom door was open for MONTHS.
