Wow this was terrible, I thought there would be some twist at the end. I shouldn't be too shocked but I am at how bad it was, such a ridiculous happy ending that felt unrealistic

TexasSnyper

Not the best finale but also not bad either. 7/10 show with a 6/10 ending

The show's ending is surprisingly close to the comic ending. A fight in the white house, the way Homelander gets his head open with the crowbar, Butcher wanting to get rid of every supe, his confrontation with Hughie and Hughie and Annie having their happy ending is taken directly from the comics. I didn't love the ending, but I didn't hate it either. I feel like they spent 2 episodes setting up Vought Rising that could have been used for something else, also, Homelander finally snapping in front of everyone has been teased since season 2 but it never really happened, I would have loved to see at least a scene where he goes on a rampage and finally they send the military or something similar. But I imagine they also had budget constraints and it kinda shows as there wasn't a big fight in the end. Not the worst ending, but could have been better. But if they went fully with the comic ending I think it would have been even more controversial, Butcher would not be remembered kindly, so I'm kinda glad they just took some aspects of it.

The ending was almost identical to the Comics If they changed things too much, other people would be upset.

All good that you guys liked the season finale. I for sure didn’t. If you saw all of genV, you kinda wasted your time since those characters went nowhere and nothing would have changed if they never appeared in the boys. Same with V1, a lot of this season was just a fetch quest to get the vial of V1. Homelander uses it, and nothing really changes other than the characters saying that he’s immortal. What’s the real difference between kimiko shooting her beam at a normal homelander as opposed to an immortal one? Nothing, cuz she can take both of their powers away. Homelander took a guy to space in less that 5 seconds, yet he cant fly out of that room when he’s fighting butcher? He lasers kimiko on half earlier this season, yet when she has the power to kill him, he just taps her with the laser and it does nothing but push her back? There are a lot more throughout the season, but ima leave it at that. 1/5 answers for me fellas, cant wait for more daredevil content.

The dog that played Terror actually really died in real life. The Boys social account posted about it. If you loved Jensen Ackles in here you will love Supernatural. He basically plays the same dude. He's played that role for so long it's like part of who he is. For me I was blown away by them bringing in Robert "Bobby" Singer from Supernatural. For those haven't seen Supernatural, the same actor played the same character "Robert Singer" in Supernatural. The character was named after one of the producers of the show whose name is also Robert Singer. I was surprised to see that he was apparently in season 1 and maybe other seasons as well. I must not remember or I missed it somehow. The show runners must be fans of Supernatural because the guy that played the guy that got his dick blown off by Marie in S1E3(?) of GenV played Jack on Supernatural who was Lucifer's son who became one of the guys along with Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins. I kinda forgot all about timelines and thought "The guys got a proper reunion and Jack just got to play a r*pist who got his dick blown off" The last thing I have to say about this season is they really toned down a lot of the political stuff and also the shock value and gore for shock value and gore's sake. I know there was a lot of gore in this, but it isn't like in past seasons where you literally have some tiny guy blow up to normal size inside some dude's private parts and then just splatter them all over the room, and then the orgy scene with the guy that multiplies himself. I feel like it got really ridiculous but they toned it down really well in this season. I know other reactors that stopped watching The Boys and I remember the comment sections from past seasons being a complete disaster with all kinds of political comments and I didn't notice none of that here for season 5. I would give this season a 5 because I think they balanced everything really well and I mean they had the hilarious over the top weird stuff like the dude with the long balls in episode 1, but it was just less than before like over the top but not like over the top x 5000. I dunno if anyone here has seen but someone made a GTA 5 mod where you get to play as Homelander and it shows Homelander just wrecking havok on the police and he's bulletproof so doesn't really matter what the police do.

Giving my thoughts and rating before I hear yalls. As a finale it's a bit mixed for me with good and bad. Some of the good parts I enjoyed was seeing Homelander trying to use his non-existent powers, that shit was pretty funny and when he started crying. Also enjoyed all the endings for The Boys group, especially MM, feel like he deserved his ending the most. Some things I did t like were the power inconsistencies with Homelander himself, it makes no sense how he can essentially fly so fast he can take a guy to space and back in a couple of seconds (essentially traveling above 100,000mph) but during his fight his flight speed is DRASTICALLY REDUCED to about the speed of a race car. I have more things I liked and disliked but I won't go over all of them because that's just too much typing and ain't nobody trying to read a chapters worth of that. Could it have been better pacing wise, absolutely. Could it have been worse, yep. Now as a season this is one of the weaker ones, the pacing was so slow after that first episode and Homelander killed A Train, and the biggest fail to me was Sister Sage and her "big plan" to take out Homelander and what her end game was. I'm sorry but her character was written so shitty this season, she's one of the biggest frauds of this show. And then the story of Marie and group, or lack thereof I should say, they didn't have any reasons to be in this season from how little they do. Overall a lackluster season for me, I'll give this season a 2.5/5, middle rating, the series finale a 3/5 and the entire series a 3/5 as well.

Although this season wasn't it's strongest compared to the entertainment of previous seasons & despite not having the Gen V characters do NOTHING as I was surprised Marie was not involved in the final fight as they did a good job of building it up in Gen V, feels like watching last season of Gen V kinda pointless & abit disappointing knowing nothing happened here with them, otherwise, I was quite satisfied with this finale, good to see a finale fight scene between Butcher/Homelander, your reactions to him being Human again was golden greatness & ya could say that William "Butchered" him there & bet those words by Homelander cut "Deep" for Kevin & the way Oh Father went out was quite unexpected (& slightly amusing) he won't be singing no more sermons. Butcher's been 1 of my favourite characters, so only fitting having Hughie there with a touching scene with Butcher & OF COURSE he'd have something like THAT written on his grave haha.

Dannielle

The guy who created The Boys Erik Kripke also created Supernatural, that’s why there’s a lot of crossover with actors

Melina Paquette

Even if I found the season much weaker than the others plot wise, i thought the finale was good. A bit confused on why we were pushed to believe that Marie was the only one who could beat Homelander for her to only be a Uber and pissed off that I only saw Emma for 2 lines but overall good. As someone who always struggled with liking Hughie he was surprisingly one of my favorite this season. I thought this episode was much better than the rest of the season. Overall happy with this show.

Kel

I guess it's just the rush then that annoyed me, for them to not use Gen V characters in the plot at all and to speed through the storyline with homelander while soldier boy is just asleep again - the wrap up felt so surface level

Normally I would've written a long essay that would accurately depict my muddled thoughts, but I have a test tomorrow and I can't be bothered. This was a massive let down. Not the season as a whole - which I liked, though definitely my least favourite of the series. The following adjectives reflect my thoughts on the season, but mainly the finale: underwhelming, deflating, contrived, jarring, rushed, hollow, overindulgent, desensitising, incoherent, small-scale, tensionless, parodic, and most of all, UNEARNED. Finale: 1.5 Answers Season 5: 3.2 Answers Entire Series: 4.4 Answers Despite my frustration and disappointment, The Boys was a one of a kind show. It broke new barriers in television and flipped the lens on the whole superhero genre.

mdl

I came into this season with pretty low expectations so I'm satisfied with the final episode. I expected Homelander to go wild against the general public because they've been teasing it since the beginning of the show, so not having that was kind of weird. I never really watched this show for the plot or story, most of the time it was just an entertainment vehicle for gruesome fights with funny and crass humour. My biggest gripe was that they really bungled the Gen V characters considering season 2 of Gen V was intertwined with the plot with The Boys, only for the Gen V characters to do quite literally nothing this season? What the hell was that.

Alex

Cool. Kinda like with Joss Whedon shows.

Silv3R2

I liked the ending, and the series, I think it was pretty good, some downs but mostly ups, so that. I liked the finale and the show in general

Frank the Tank

They gave The Boys finale the good ol Game of Thrones finale treatment😬

Alex

I think this was a great finale. They also gave it some touches I'd never expect from The Boys like Starlight being pregnant with their kid, and other peoples' lives wrapping up nicely. I think ripping Homelander's head open was a little much. Leaving the crowbar sticking out of his head would've been enough, but they like to go the extra mile :)

Alex

I pretty much had written on The Boys after season 4.. but really liked this season from the beginning. If it were for Badd Medicine I probably wouldn't have thought to watch it

Alyssa Dyson

hated it....they could have written in the gen v gang...just cause it was cancelled doesnt mean we didnt enjoy the characters.

SushiBoy

felt like a lot of stuff was wasted. ending was just meh.
