I'm sat

Al

Got my chips & drink, I am so readyyy . Also i’m dying at Quinn’s reaction to them being intimate 🤣 I knew ep 5 would be amazing lol.

Halima

“Ah, Newton! WE’VE ALL BEEN THERE FOLKS” “SOME!” that never gets old 😭😭😭😭

peachy o

IM SAT!!! As a bigger girl its so easy to be put into a stereotype with bridgerton i feel like they really pushed the boundaries for bigger woman and made the audience think there isn’t any difference

BugBite23

I think they did such a great job with the intimate scenes and it's honestly so important that they happened. You don't see many curvy women in those scenes in movies or shows. This was beautifully done and incredibly romantic ❤️

Niv

Let's gooo! 😍🍿 Just wanna say Penelope is gorgeous and I love her 🫶 that's all.

Halima

Polly Walker is absolutely incredible in this show, her delivery of “Featheringtons support one another” was hilarious 🤣

🌸Foof🌸

Lol the song is 'Confident' by Demi Lovato. I thought you'd get it when MQ talked about Cressida having confidence lol

Halima

The Quinnstincts firing off with that Cressida reveal LMAO the cheers 🤣

Kiss the Librarian

Yeah, the sex scene was awkwardly long for me, too MQ. Partly because it didn't feel necessary for the story, partly because infantilizing women virgins isn't sexy but super weird, and partly because it was a bummer that Pen didn't tell Colin the truth before sleeping with him. I get she's overwhelmed with emotion, etc, but it's a serious consent issue. He definitely wouldn't have been down to clown right then if he knew. They needed to talk first, but instead she doubled down on the lie and violated his trust.

Emily G

I really really hope you will consider reacting to Outlander the show after this is finished! It’s a wonderful show and hardly has any creators reacting to it! Please consider 🙏

ondraya

the reaction to these episodes did NOT disappoint LMAO

myamya

not really infantalising, it was her first time and i think they did a good job depicting that.

Halima

@myamya I also thought it was well done, very realistic. That can be awkward for some to watch, but I found it sweet.

Luz Tapia

The thing with Portia Featherington is that it makes a perfect contrast to how Colin/the Bridgertons were raised in society: Their love matches are rare, not the norm. Most people had marriages that were mostly economic transactions, even Cressida's mom had one like that and those men were cruel to their wives. Remember in Season 1 how Portia had no say in Marina's situation because of her husband? So of course, she wanted for her girls matches that would secure not only their income but safety as well. In her mind, it was almost impossible to believe Pen and Colin's love because time and time again all she saw were examples of the contrary. Always fighting tooth and nail to protect what they had, having to be ruthless to secure their standing in society. All marriage represents to her is sacrifice, stress and being at your husband's mercy. The Bridgertons are priviledged in that aspect, and Portia is now realizing that she doesn't have to have her guard up all the time and can actually for the first time, rejoice in what her daughters achieved: a life much better that she ever had.

Halima

I really loved the conversation between Penelope and Portia. “Ladies do not have dreams, they have husbands” was Portia basically saying they’re not allowed to have dreams. It wasn’t what Penelope needed to hear in that moment, but it’s the harsh reality of what it means to be a woman in their society. As brutal as Portia can be as a parent, she happened to raise 3 fairly strong women (even if 2 of them aren’t the brightest bulbs) in a time when having girls and no boys would’ve left her with nothing after her husband died. All 3 secured husbands that worship the ground they walk on, which makes it much more likely that they’ll have far better lives than she ever did.

Lana23x

Penelope DID give up the column. She didn't go back because of 'ego' but because Eloise needed her to. Eloise was afraid that Cressida was gonna write badly about the Bridgertons, so she needed Penelope to discredit her. And she was only going to do that one issue to discredit her, she wasn't saying at that moment that she was gonna return full time.

Lana23x

Reminder: Benedict gave up art in season 2 when he found out Anthony bribed the academy to take him as a student. He was always insecure about his art, but this really destroyed his confidence. So he gave it up, which is why he gets so awkward when they ask him if he ventures in artistic pursuits. And also why Benedict keeps saying throughout this season that he's directionless, with 'no purpose'.

Halima

The gasp I gusped when Colin showed up at the end of episode 6 💀 I wa so sure he was listening in on Eloise and Pen’s convo so when he wasn’t show I just assumed I was wrong. They got the audience to let their guard down

Amanda Diaz

Penelope did give up Whistledown. She didn’t return because of EGO, but because of Eloise. She was afraid Cressida was going to write bad things about her. So she needs to discredit her. I think yes it’s horrible that Cressida is in a terrible spot but she still is a crappy person & shouldn’t have that power & take credit. Pen knows now she can use that power for good not bad. Ready for the last two episodes.

roxie c

I LOVE how much you guys love this show

Regency Era was roughly between 1795 and 1837. £5000 in 1795 equates to approx £534.000 (or roughly $719.000). £5000 in 1837 equates to approx £497.000 (or roughly $669.000).

Brittany R

One of the important things to be aware of with the female characters in the show are the different levels of privlidge and protection they have NOT because of rank but because (1) their male relatives and (2) how much their family actually cares about them. Eloise, Penelope, and Cressida are examples of this and very much foils for each other. ELOISE is the MOST privlidged of the three by far. Firstly because she has not just one brother, but MULTIPLE brothers to look after her, foster connections for her, and protect the family inheritance. Moreover, her eldest sister married a Duke. All of these things strengthen a family's position in society and dictate, for lack of a better way to put it, how much the family can get away with. Eloise herself alluded to this in Season 1 when she told Daphne "I suppose I should thank you, for being so perfect, so that I do not have to be" and Penelope also pointed this out in Season 2 when she told Eloise "You now have a duchess for a sister. That makes achieving the life you wish for all the more easier." The Bridgerton name is influencial and their marital ties to a dukedom also affords them real power, so high society is more likely to tolerate them going off norms because of the strength of that, which means Eloise can get away with more faux pas (like her Season 2 scandal) than a lady from another family might. And then of course is the important fact that Eloise's brothers (and whole family) genuinely care about her and happiness. Which means, while there is SOCIAL pressure to marry, she doesn't NEED to marry in order to ensure her livlihood. Nor would her family ever FORCE her to marry someone she didn't want to marry. Even if she doesn't have a husband to support her financially, her brothers and extended family would make sure she could still live comfortably however/wherever she wanted. PENELOPE, meanwhile, is somewhere in the middle. Unlike Eloise, she doesn't have any brothers. We see this mentioned by Colin in season 2 when he confronts Cousin Jack and says "how dare you take advantage of these ladies who are without a male relative to protect them". The main reason Lady Featherington has had to scheme so much this season and last was because she had no sons; there was no immediately male relative to protect and provide for them, putting The Featheringtons in a vulnerable position. Moreover, Penelope's lack of brothers meant she had no one to introduce and screen possible marriage matches for her. We see this brotherly role alluded to in Season 1, with Anthony (albeit obnoxiously) reviewing potential husbands for Daphne and Violet mentioning that if Lord Bridgerton were there he would "have arranged an agreement with a friend or a male aquaintance" with regards to Daphne's marriage. Also, unlike Eloise, Penelope's family aren't the most supportive and often berate and emotionally abuse or neglect her. However, Penelope is still at an advantage because her mother DOES care for her. In episode 1 of this season, Lady Featherington tells Penelope "I take comfort in knowing you'll always be there to take care of me" and both of sisters take jabs at her regarding how they'll handle her books when they become the heir's mama. Although these were played for laughs and to show how Penelope is already viewed as a spinster, it ALSO reveals that both her mother and sisters are prepared to continue to support Penelope finanically for the rest of her life, even if she doesn't marry. Like Eloise, Penelope's family cares abour her enough that they would never FORCE her to marry against her will or ship her away to live somewhere else. Although Penelope isn't in as good a position as Eloise, she is still far better off than.... CRESSIDA, who, like Penelope, has no brothers. Unlike Penelope and Eloise, however, her family has no regard for her happiness, wants, or feelings. To the point that they have no problem marrying her off to a man who is older than her grandfather. Say whatever you want about Lady Featherington, but she would NEVER make her daughters marry someone like Lord Greer. Even when arranging a match for Penelope's sisters, she chose men who her daughters liked and/or who were young, attractive, good natured, and would follow their wife's lead. Cressida's family give her NO other option except marriage and they are completely unconcerned about how happy she may or may not be in that marriage. Even down to her emotional needs, Cressida herself says that "marriage may be my only chance of feeling support". It's no wonder that, before Eloise, Cressida couldn't concieve of genuine friendship; how could she imagine a relationship where people care about each other without motives and conditions, when even her own parents don't care about her without motives and conditions.

As a plus size girlie myself, seeing myself represented and not as the butt of the joke makes me think I could find my own Colin one day. 🥹 no luck so far 🤣

Kiss the Librarian

I respectfully disagree because: - Historical fiction often has virgin heroines, but the show dwells on Pen's ignorance more than others, making her virginity a defining characteristic for the sex scene. The virgin heroine trope is also super weird in romantic fiction because it defines female characters in terms of their sexual inexperience more than anything else (like Pen who is secretly very intelligent and powerful). Virginity is emphasized in Daphne's season, too, and I also find that problematic for those wondering. - The directing emphasizes her wide eyed expressions, frequent questions and Colin playing teacher - The scene emphasizes her virginity more than their connection, so it plays like purity porn more than a story that serves the characters who'd been friends and experienced mutual pining The wide eyed looks and childlike chagrin when he tells her not to touch his dick too soon, that stuff eeks me out the most. And I don't need to see a play by play of her first time to understand that she is learning something new. The scene's focus should have stayed on their emotional connection, which was more central to the plot anyway. Some things they did well in the scene were that Colin obviously wasn't patronizing her but was seeking her consent and mutual pleasure, to which Pen showed agency in her communication of her desires.

mdl

I disliked Lady Featherington at first but she's become one of my fav characters over the seasons. Her continuously making mistakes but learning and earnestly trying to become better is such a contrast from her from season 1 character. Of all the Mama's on the show she's the most 'realistic' to me since characters like Lady Danbury and Violet almost seem too ahead of their time regarding society & love.

Badd Medicine

Did you watch the review where he explained it?

Ashley K

MQ wrote season 3! LOL

pumpkincarvingjen (¬ ´ཀ` )¬

Hmm not sure I agree that Pen being presented as pushed into the background and not a lot of prospects as a reason to feel uncomfortable. Feeling like you know her more than previous characters and don’t really want to watch your sister doing it- that one I get. But I think it was super important for Pen as a bigger girlie to get the same kind of treatment all of our other leading ladies have gotten so I’m glad the scene is there and doesn’t cut away

Lindsey Hudson

I love y’all lmfao I knew you guys would be hype for this

Vanished

I never understand why people, and I've found it as many men reactors, no hate, always think its right for Pen to give up her column for love. What about her dreams? Can a lady not wish for love and to write. She worked hard for that, and to have that Cressida take the claim is just not right. What Pen has done as a woman of those times is incredible and to have to give it up and not fight an work for it because she simply fell in love with a man is kind of lame to me.

Amanda Diaz

Omg yes! I even seen woman reactors think Pen should give it up. Like what?!. She worked so hard for that & Cressida of all people, she was horrible to Pen.

r

About Portia: I dont think she sees things only through her experience, she is simply realistic. Although the show blesses us with many in-love, happy couples, it's said and known that Portia's marriage is the common one, and a love match is very rare. Add that being a woman who has no title, no money, basically nothing without a man of the house, i think her reasons for searching for "security" makes sense. Although yes she can be cruel in her way of adressing it to her daughters. And about Penelope, i dont agree with you folks. It's not about adrenalin or passion. Even if it's just some dirt sheet, it's her life's work. Penelope managed to build something so strong (as a girl at the age of what, 18?) that even Queen relishes it, let alone the rest of the ton. It's her work, a part of herself and i can understand very clearly why she doesnt want to give it up or let someone else take the credit. Just because she's marrying Colin and is happy with it doesnt mean she should give up her own work (especially considering what a rare and amazing thing she has achieved all by herself in the shadows.) Great reactions though! Love to see Colin Bridgerton commenting again 😂

I🖤Kraken

You guys analyze Bridgerton like the Superbowl! I love it!

Ailene Evangelista

I’m gonna say this about Pen and Colin’s intimacy scenes…to me, they felt a little TOO real and I think that’s where some of the awkwardness comes in. And I say that as a total compliment to the actors! I think it’s clear they had a comfortability with each other that comes across like they are actually two close friends who fell in love and now we’re watching them have sex for the first time. The first time with someone you love is often a little awkward, especially when one is a virgin, let’s be real. And I think the way the scene itself is set up and the actors’ performances really captured that in a beautiful and authentic way.

Tara ✨💫

You guys are hilarious and I'm loving these reactions. I can't believe I have to wait a whole week for episodes 7 and 8. Trust that I will be coming back to rewatch all of these Bridgerton reactions. I think you guys need to go back and watch the scene of Eloise and Pen talking about discrediting Cressida. Eloise was concerned because when she ended her friendship with Cressida outside the church, they were thowing insults at each other with Eloise saying "Congratulations on your hard earned success." Then at the Ball Eloise told Pen that she was afraid that Cressida would target the Bridgertons when she published her issue. That's when Pen said she could publish one issue to discredit Cressida in order to protect Eloise from what Cressida would write

Nina

They laid the groundwork by showing how cornered Cressida was, but now, she's not facing marriage to a creepy controlling old man. It's just life in the country, so the stakes have changed. Still, those parents…oof. Too bad Lord Debling is no longer an option. That would have been perfect for her, even though I don't see Cressida balancing the estate books. BTW, I'm only here because seeing gruff Midwestern dudes getting into Bridgerton on YT tickled me to no end. We act like guys don't love gossipy, soapy drama, but when it's good, it sucks us all in. You guys are hilarious and super insightful. I can't wait to see what you think of the end of this season and the rollercoaster of season 4.

Ailene Evangelista

The way I yelled out loud when Colin rolled up on Pen and realizing she’s lady whistledown. I knew it was coming and still was gagged. Oh man season 3 is peak entertainment, I love the drama so much.

Tara ✨💫

Trying to figure out what "I'm SAT" means lol. Diamond Dave, you are so right about toning down the mic on the eating scene... oh by the way when you are chewing on what ever you eat during the reactions, would you mind moving the mic away from your mouth? 😜 lol

dr!!a

Why should Penelope give up her DREAMS/CAREER just because she got the man? crazy opinion

dr!!a

Virgins can’t be confident because they’re virgins? Thats a weird thing to say .. this whole opinion is trashy

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

Sorry, I tried to have sympathy for cressida but no. I mean, the shit her father was talking to her and saying awful things to her and trying to give her up to that creep, I did feel bad for but as far as that goes, I still don't like her, especially since he's always bullying Pen since the beginning. She did look like the devil though; that was badass and suits her well.

Tara ✨💫

Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlin are really good friends. I saw an interview about the love scene and Luke showed Nicola what he looked like wearing his "modesty cover" before they started fiming so she'd know what to expect and in between takes they both stayed on the lounge together almost completely naked to feel more comfortable with each other.

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

Did they really think that pen having to tell or find out that she’s whistledown was not gonna happen WHAT!? come guys shit like that was not gonna stay in the past it was gonna resurface no matter what 😂

Miss Freaky

Lol - Oak, there are many levels (of friendship/mutual kinship)!! Not everyone is a romantic like yourself 😜 jk Oak: Look at the starter up chest rug!! lol - good one Oak 🤣 How y'all are leaning in towards the end of E5 is so lovely, simply love how y'all are drinking up every moment!! 😊😊 E6 - lol, referencing the Karate Kid to the Bridgerton was not on my bingo card!! Oak's enthusiasm never ends 🤣😊🤣 lol...as always my lords, lovely reaction!

Aprille Morris-Butler

Diamond Dave just...slowly morphing into Colin before our eyes, lol

Miya

I agree! I loved the framing of the scene as well. At some points it looked like they were in a painting with the staging, blocking, and props (i.e., that gorgeous royal blue cover!). Very well done.

Alinta_Energy

DD making up his own lyrics “…something we’re not gonna make it” 🤣

Jackson Byrd

Man I've been watching Baddmedicine for 4 years now, barely ever comment her, hundreds if not thousands of reactions and I can confidently say the Bridgerton reactions have provided the funniest, most hype, biggest pops of any reaction I can think of, this is incredible and you would've never expected in back in season 1 episode 1

Anna

Yes! I've also noticed this with many male reactors. They also don't seem to grasp why women cannot choose to do certain things or simply say no to something. Like Portia being realistic with Pen; it's not that she wanted Pen to stay home with her, it's just that Lord Debling was a secure match and she wanted that security for Penelope, as opposed to Colin who was a popular guy known for being flirtatious and could easily call off the wedding in search of something else.

Terri

I can't STAND that they tried to redeem Cressida. She stayed a villain in the books and I appreciated that. Not every character needs a redemption arc.

Anna

Yes, this!!!! Thank you, I'm really enjoying their reactions to this series, but like many other male reactors, they don't seem to fully grasp what it means to be a woman or someone of lower ranking status in these times.

Brooksie

When MQ said "Oh come on!!" 🤣🤣🤣

Badd Medicine

Up through Episode 6, Colin has made it fairly clear that he has strong negative feelings toward Lady Whistledown. This isn't only evident in conversations with Penelope present, but also in moments when she isn't around. From Penelope's perspective, revealing herself as Lady Whistledown carries a significant risk, especially given how much she values her relationship with Colin. She has been in love with him for years at this point, so this isn't a situation where she has simply developed feelings overnight. The possibility of losing him would break her heart. While Penelope absolutely has the right to continue being Lady Whistledown, it's understandable why she might fear the impact that revelation could have on her future with Colin. Based on Colin's comments throughout the season, he appears to view Lady Whistledown's actions critically, making the potential consequences for their relationship difficult to ignore. As you mentioned, it's remarkable that Penelope was able to accomplish everything she has accomplished, especially given the expectations and limitations of the time. I don't think anyone here (BM) is trying to take that away from her. By the end of Episode 6, Colin's reaction suggests (to us) that his immediate feelings are likely centered around betrayal and the realization that a major secret has been kept from him. It's understandable why Colin would struggle with learning that someone he deeply trusts has withheld such an important part of her identity.

GG

I actually thought he had it for a sec until he started singing the lyrics to what Im assuming was the twisted sister song "We're not gonna take it". I about lost it at that point🤣😭

GG

The way I see it, had they just shown us Cressida bullying Pen in the beginning seasons without diving deeper into her backstory this season, then I'd also consider her to simply be a bully. I truly believe her character is much more complicated than that. She gets bullied at home by her own parents. Ever heard the saying, "Hurt people, hurt people." It is a cycle of abuse you are witnessing. She clearly has some internalized healing that is needed to be done. That isn't to say what she does to Pen and anyone else is excused because it isn't. Cressida should definitely take accountability for her own actions. With that said, she just needs someone to show her a little compassion and understanding. A true genuine friendship which is something she never had. Not even Eloise was genuinely interested in her that way. Pen may have struggled the same way and been a wallflower, but at least she always had Eloise in her corner. All it takes is one person to make a difference in someone else's life. Maybe her life would've been different if Cressida had an Eloise in her corner. Who knows🤷‍♀️

Marie RammGirl

Quinn's reaction over seeing Penelope/Colin's 'Furious Jumping' scene & Oak's reaction to how awkward MQ felt & the disappointment Quinn felt over Cressida/Penelope at end of Eps 6 was a golden entertainment highlight, I was cheeky laughing along to reactions too. 😂 First ya said about 'Little Daphers/Dukers' now it's "Baby Fiero" haha. Liked the creative touch at end of Eps 5 having Penelope the one who fainted this time & Cressida confessing herself as Lady WhistleDown. The Quinn-Stincts were on fire in Eps 5!. Interesting seeing Lady Danbury outburst of raw emotion, now we know why she holds sucha grudge towards her Brother. Oak drinking Tea with his pinkie finger out 🤣 well now you've all been gifted some British Tea, maybe you can use that for finale of Oak's idea. Chuckled at Quinn's calling Lord Debling "Lord Derpy" & "Cheerio" is another way of saying "Goodbye" DD. 👋 Also Oak says this show is "Peak Entertainment" but so are all 3 of yours reactions too. ❤️

Lisa Clark

I think Cressida ends up being a really sympathetic character because of her family. It doesn't justify her actions in previous seasons (which hopefully she apologizes for at some point once she grows up a little) but it does provide *context* for them.

Lisa Clark

I never got the impression that this is what they were saying. Oak even says at one point, "She should write novels" or something to that effect if the column is going to get her in trouble. I think they were trying to reconcile the consequences of having the column with her professional and creative desires which is ultimately what this season is about.

Kiss the Librarian

@tiramisujen Daphne’s sexual ignorance is central to the plot, but I have expressed issues with that as well. There are other issues with that plot line, but that’s off topic. I did say the show over-romanticizes virginity in general.

Kiss the Librarian

@Le’Andria I agree that virgins can show confidence with sexual expression. I hated it when exes interrogated me about past experience just because I seemed “too confident” during my early experiences. I'm not sure if you intended to reply to me with this, because I never said virgins can't be confident. I literally stated the exact opposite.

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

I fucking love that Diamond Dave is mature enough to watch the spicy scenes, but scenes with food make him very uncomfortable. Aw, I fucking love Diamond Dave. 😂

Paige

Saaaaame. Apparently in the book she loses weight and I am so happy they cut that out. She just bought clothing that actually fits her and colors and cuts that made her more confident. And when people said the actress, Nicola Coughlan, was so brave for being nude on screen, she clapped back with how proud she is to represent women with perfect breasts. I love her.

Paige

Even knowing Nicola Coughlan is 39, I still see her as a little sister type. 😂

Lisa Clark

That Newton scene is underrated, I tell ya.

Lisa Clark

You just know in the writer's room they were like, "How can we add Newton into this season?" "Well....." "WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE" "What?" They had their own BaddMedicine moment scripting this.

hallokween

why would you be mad at pen? this was not a case of ego, but stopping cressida, who proved to still be a mean girl after all (example with eloise), now that she has access to whistledown's reputation. and even still, pen said she wanted to use her writing for good. she was going to give up her column, but ultimately, this is her life's work. she can't just publish novels under her name, or another fake woman's name, as people wouldn't care to read them, hence getting traction with the gossip sheets. i dont think everything with lady whistledown should be as black and white as some people make it seem, she started this way before she was considered on the marriage market. being honest with your fiancé is one thing, and yes, pen should have told colin if she was going to keep writing, because it's not something she would have been able to keep from him for long (hence ep 6 ending)

Caty

Fun reaction guys! I think MQ is forgetting how awful Cressida has been to Penelope over the years. I understand the sympathy for Cressida but she has made zero effort to apologize to Pen. Pen also had a tough upbringing but she wasn’t going around being mean to people and instead, directed her energy into writing. I wouldn’t allow my bully to take credit for my work either. Lady Whistledown wasn’t always bad, as evidenced by how much fun ya’ll are having with it😆. It saved Daphne from Berbrooke & saved Colin from being duped into a sham marriage. While some of the consequences were not ideal (in Eloise’s case), Pen was trying to save her friend from the queen. For the most part, LW was only writing what was already being repeated in the ton - Eloise herself said as much in s2. She didn’t purposely make things up to hurt people. Penelope will always be the GOAT & the heart of the show in my book!😊❤️.

Badd Medicine

Can you timestamp where we said we are "mad" at pen?

hallokween

i was replying to around 1:05:53 in ep 6 and the discussion about pen at the start of the review and the opinions forming during the ep :)

hallokween

6!! sorry i edited it into my last reply prob a little too late lol

Amanda Diaz

perfectly said! i was little thrown off by MQ reaction especially how he has always been a Pen fan since season 1.

Amanda Diaz

one thing i wish they would have added from the book is Pen & Anthony relationship. He was very protective of her. Thats why they had Benedict tell Anthony about dueling with Colin lol.

Caty

lol yeah I was confused why he thought El & Pen would suddenly collab w/Cressida right after we saw Cressida go after El at the church, the second she couldn’t get her way. I don’t begrudge a Cressida redemption but she has to make ammends to Pen & show some remorse regardless of her shitty parents. Pen has every right to feel protective of her work even if she got the man of her dreams. Pen is actually too good if you ask me. Folks expect her to take hits & make sacrifices but Cressida should get an easy way out after terrorizing Pen? Not on my watch! Lool🤭🤭

Hayley S

I’m not a plus size girly, but I want to add my viewpoint. Penelope’s character having nothing to do with her weight was so refreshing to see. This romance was the spiciest in my opinion because I saw myself in Penelope through her uncertainty, her insecurity, her pride and her entire situation. I know I’ve been in so many situations where I’m not sure how to act and inaction resulted in things escalating beyond what you’d imagined. I love this for Penelope so f-ing much

Hayley S

Omg her breasts are insane! So perky for their size omg! (Saying as a woman who is full of love and envy lmao)

Hayley S

As a woman who may not be plus sized, but has curves - and was told I was heavy from guys (I wasn’t wanting to date ofc) throughout my life, Penelope and Colin were my favourite couple. I’m only 103 pounds and 5’3” but my curves… I remember boys and men telling me that I was a slut or I was fat with basically no in between. Seeing an actually curvy woman finding the love of her life and him, Colin, being so in love and attracted to her and the show never mentioning her weight; it healed something in me. I love Nicola (actress playing Penelope) for her courage because hot-damn, this may be one of the only times that female nudity in media genuinely helped women.

Caty

It’s not talked about enough how Colin misinterpreted Pen’s panic attack at the engagement party as her getting carried away and feared she didn’t want him anymore. Adding that to everything else & finding out about LW the way he did…🥹❤️

Kiss the Librarian

TBF, I believe Quinn/the guys made similar comments about how unexpectedly long Daphne's first sex scene (and subsequent sex scenes) were. Seems people are looking for curvy girl haters that aren't here.

Donna Rossi Youngblood

But Oak is failing to acknowledge that there was still immense societal scandal associated with women of that social standing to write under their real names at all. Even Jane Austin originally published as "By A Lady" because of the scandal associated with a women "being in trade," which is what writing was considered.

Shonna Natae

Just incase no one mentioned it... the oldest Featherington daughter is the biological daughter of Professor Umbridge in Harry Potter. Just a fun little fact

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

Ep 5 notes 14:49 — “Tell her, Colin, tell her!” from Oak sent me 😅😅😅 17:23 — MQ: “It’s just weird. She’s like our long-lost cousin or sister.” 17:45 — MQ: “Is anybody else feeling kind of the way I do?” Meanwhile, Colin undresses Penelope and we see her boobs. Oak: 😬😬😬 DD: 😑😑😑 MQ: 🙄🙄🙄 Me in my head: “Great timing for that speech!” 🤣🤣🤣 I have never seen Oak happier than when he shouted, “Mason Quinn is so uncomfortable right now!” at 19:53 😅😅😅 You all turned so red during their sex scene, I can’t hahhaa. I think even more than during Heated Rivalry. MQ’s constant “Why is this scene so long?” had me dying of laughter 🤣🤣🤣 And the “COME ON!” at 21:43 was the culmination of his discomfort! 39:24 MQ: “Gregory is gonna be like, ‘The two of us could rule this place together in a few years. It’s all gonna be ours!’” — I’m looking forward to it as well! Your excitement at the end when MQ correctly guessed Cressida’s intentions was priceless!

Ep 6 notes: “Can’t be both” is not a very progressive take, guys! It’s great when a woman wants both love AND a career at the same time! 36:20 — “She’s thinking about her marriage to Colin or her life as Lady Bridgerton. I can’t believe she’s torn, but she is.” — And I can’t believe you don’t understand her doubts, MQ 😱 I thought you completely understood Penelope’s character, but maybe not… 😞 Yes, she’s loved Colin since childhood, but he’s not the only thing that matters to her! I was cackling at the end when Colin appeared and all of you kept repeating “OH SHIT!” 🤣🤣🤣 About post-discussion: I also don’t agree that Penelope did it because of her ego. She has every right to have her credit and not let another person steal the result of her hard work! Why should we be mad at Penelope? She definitely needed to tell Colin the truth, but she wasn’t obligated to give everything up just because of him if she didn’t want to. So the claim at 1:11:46 — “She was perfectly fine with putting down her pen and taking Colin’s hand in marriage” — is crazy to me when the show clearly demonstrates that she WASN’T fine with that. She’s obviously suffering without her passion! It honestly felt like MQ and I were watching two completely different episodes 🙈

P.S. “We really need an eating scene?” — I’ve always wondered why DD has such a problem with eating sounds 😅 Isn’t it one of the most natural things in life? And in many countries, such as South Korea, the louder you eat, the more appreciation you show for the food and the people who prepared it.

Dearest Gentle Reader: I’m ardently looking forward to 3x7 and 3x8! And season 4 reactions as well! 🎉

I think the key for me is Cressida enjoys being a bully and hurting others. Sure, she's got a horrid family who've made her into a horrid person and the forced marriage is awful, but I'll never agree with people who feel forgiving towards someone who has been a bully and delighted in it for years and yet say Penelope is a villain.

Victoria E (vickster5001)

I'm not sure how an intimate scene between two friends becoming lovers isn't necessary to the story. The intimate scenes are always necessary in this show, but each is tailored to the love story being depicted. Showing Pen and Colin share that emotional physical connection was a necessary and beautiful part of the season.

Victoria E (vickster5001)

I think the show never talking about her weight is so refreshing and very much the right deciison. Plenty of people have been putting their own thoughts on to this character, but I admire the show for not doing it. It's simply Penelope.

It's certainly interesting how many guys, even if they like Penelope, seem to be shocked that she'd not want to give up her career / financial autonomy and not just give it up for a man, even if it is one she loves. Not a very modern take! Plus, in this society women weren't able to have careers - she can't just write something in her own name; women had no rights to do that! That's why Portia says women don't have dreams, they have husbands. Come on guys. Also, I understand your reasoning about the reaction to the intimate scene in ep 5 and I think you explained it clearly, although it is unfortunate when the "it's too long / cut away" comments come with the character /actress who received a dreadful amount of commentary about how people didn't want to watch her like this / it was unnecessary to see it etc. which in those instances (unlike you) was always said in a toxic way against certain perceptions of who is deemed desirable. Personally, I think it's a beautifully handled scene, both in terms of lighting, directing and acting. It feels incredible real and intimate. As for the rest? Well said Oak about Eloise ruining the party! Couldn't she have said tell him by the end of tomorrow?! As if telling him mid party in public was a good idea! And I agree about Colin putting Portia in her place - very hot indeed!

Victoria E (vickster5001)

Not sure this response addresses the point many have made though, as it's said many times that why isn't she just giving it up? You've got Colin now / it's for her ego - I think that's what many women find frustrating, as it's seeing a man / marriage as all Pen should want.

Kiss the Librarian

@Victoria Sounds like you misunderstood my comment. I said I wanted the scene to show their connection rather than fetishize the fact it was her first time, which was the main focus. They seemed to substitute scene length for character driven storytelling about their connection, which didn't help. Never said the scene should have been cut.

Honestly, Penelope should have told Colin prior to sleeping with him. I agree with Eloise as well. Penn may be friends with Eloise but truth be told, she lied the whole friendship plus Colin is her brother, so I get why she wanted to tell him. Honesty is key in any relationship & being upfront before something gets serious is crucial so trust issues won't arise.

Hathor

Fantastic reaction! 😂😂😂 Appleton Oak, the laughs were justifiable! 😆 These 2 episodes were absolute torture for Mason Quinn.

Aria Isara

Why did I feel proud when MQ understood before the others what Cressida would do? 😅

Aria Isara

Also I have a story similar to Kilmartin's mud story lol... Once I was walking barefoot at home and I noticed drops of blood on the floor and I was like "omg what it that?!" so I followed them but couldn't find the cause, turned around and OMG there were more drops!! Turns out my toe was bleeding because I had stepped on a bit of broken glass. I don't know how it got there and I didn't even feel it lol wtf? 🤣

Aria Isara

Cressida wasn't mean to Eloise, what she said is 100% true. Eloise is always talking about herself and doesn't know how to listen. She was nothing but a shitty friend to Cressida when Cressida behaved nicely with her.

Aria Isara

I fully agree. IMO Cressida is the way she is because she is a girl trying to survive in that world, having no support system.

ep 5- Will is a hard worker who spent most of his life having to miss those moments in life because he needed to provide for his family. Now he has enough money that need is more a want and old habit of working to the bone. Having the luxury to enjoy those important moments without worrying about bills or food is something rare even in todays world. The age gap between Lord Greer and Cressida is troubling, not unheard of, but one of the larger problems with that huge of an age gap is Lord Greer's seed is going to cause a lot of miscarriages, stillborns, and potential for bad genetics to be passed resulting in unhealthy young. If it was a ten year age gap, not terrible depending on what the ages are. Shirts on first- Susie in Marvelous Mrs. Maisel does that, even guessed she puts her hat on first then shirt. Tea, oh there is a lot of Bridgerton themed teas out there. And if they do the seasons right Gregory's should be the last one. ep 6- Jo Rowling had to have a middle name added to hers and have it be initials in order to sell her book in the 1990s. A woman author even if her main character was a boy still struggled to sell her novels. Mary Shelley had her Frankenstein novel come out around the time of the Bridgertons, but her name was n't on it until decades later. Society all over the world regardless of class or rank did not let women do what they wanted for a very long time. Potential for small pockets- Vikings, Mongolians, Dahomey Amazonians, but that was so rare and other cultures scoffed at. Also, Penelope editing Colin's work most likely wouldn't be credited like many women who are actually responsible for advancements in science and math but their husbands got the big awards and recognition.

Mintteacup

Crazy seeing comments looking to be offended. They were also uncomfortable during Daphnes intimate scenes. Why didnt yall question it then too?
