Scary Movie 2 is mainly based on The Haunting (1999) in the mansion part. Not sure if this counts as SPOILERS 😅 but I could quickly mention what the next ones are mainly based on in case you want to watch them first before, since knowing that can make a lot of the jokes land better. Scary Movie 3 is mostly The Ring and Signs, and 4 is War of the Worlds + The Village (I know you’ve seen Signs and War of the Worlds, but I’m not sure if you’ve seen The Village and The Ring)

I haven’t seen the newest one yet, but I can totally imagine it’ll be similar to Part 2 — basically a series of jokes stitched together without much of an actual storyline.

I actually think Part 3 is the best one of the whole series. You can really tell it was directed by the same guy who made the old Naked Gun movies. That’s one of the reasons why I think—or at least hope—the guys will enjoy it as well. They love The Naked Gun and David Zucker’s style of comedy in general. Part 4 was directed by him too, although in my opinion it’s not quite as good as Part 3.

This one the Wayans agree is weaker. Dimensions after the success of the first one only gave them 9 months to film, edit and release it so they felt incredibly rushed. It’s great for a movie made entirely in nine months but definitely weaker than the first one.

Can I just say, I watched this movie sooo many times, and 1. I never realized it was Natasha Lyonne as the kid in the beginning, and 2. When the group at the beginning is around the piano, the note sheets thing says "Eckstein". Literally just saw it when I watched your reaction lol Anyway, can't wait for Scary Movie 3!

Omg after watching the reaction I think you guys dont remember The Haunting that came out in 1999. That's what this movie was based on. If you havent watched it, it definitely is a must watch

Funny enough the house is based on the movie The Haunting which is based on The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson so technically they did see what it was referencing (in a way lol)

Man, that scene at the dinner with "the handyman" was fucking hilarious; I never get tired of seeing that scene. The exorcist part and the banter between Dwight and the caretaker were gold. 🤣

So, these are some of the movies they are spoofing. Of course the Exorcist, but also The Haunting 1999 is the main focus like Scream was in the original, The Amityville Horror (it's the scene with the priest in the bathroom), What Lies Beneath (the scene with Cindy and the Professor when she's wearing the red dress), Save The Last Dance, Poltergeist (the bedroom scene with Tori Spelling) and you guys already knew Charlie's Angels. And speaking of What Lies Beneath, I highly recommend checking that film out. It is such an underrated and very fun thriller and you can't go wrong with Michelle Phiefer and Harrison Ford, I think you guys would have a blast with it.
