There's a lot to talk about here but I just want to say I started watching this show with my 68 year old retired USAF dad and we watch your reactions as well. At the end of this episode, I went, (with regards to Armand) "Why the hell did he do that?" and my Dad went, "Didn't you listen to Lestat? Obviously, because he's a fuck-cloud."

Nomyrose

Just wanted to let you know that on the website, the Uncut version is on top and the sync along is on bottom for this episode, got confused there for a second lol. Also the bottom one says it's Uncut like usual so I'm guessing that's where it's supposed to be this time as well and putting it on top instead wasn't intentional.

Nomyrose

No problem!!

rin

The amount of second hand embarrassment Louis had me feeling is record breaking

Crystalrose

THANK YOU!!!! I needed this after watching my team lose their game tonight.... 💔

Lisa Clark

I could not believe that first scene with him and Regina and "the actress". LOUIS, MY DUDE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? That being said, I felt that you could tell he was somewhat uncomfortable with what he was doing especially by the time they were in the boat. Jacob Anderson's face in that scene was incredible. The same with Sam Reid in the diner once Regina walked away and he allowed himself to break down a little. They're both still so haunted by the death of their kid.

Carolyn a

Felt so bad for Oak when he got excited about Claudia/Regina haha. Such a good episode! So ready to see the Akasha plot line. Sheila Atim's monologue gave me CHILLS

Becca

Makers and their fledglings feel each other, so Lestat knows for sure Claudia's dead: he felt her die as she burned in the sun. But this episode reveals that, counter to season 1 and 2's depiction of their relationship, Lestat did truly love her as his daughter. As for why he's throwing out all the other songs, I think it's because the Claudia song is truthful in a way the others aren't. All season, he's been performing for others -- you see him slip into the performance again with his mother this episode, when she says she left because she didn't need him. His face visibly masks up and he stays performing for the rest of that scene. But the rest of the episode, his mask is down. After the Claudia song, he's decided to throw away the performance in favor of "true expression." Also I'm all the way here for Akasha! And Armand going full villain was so creepy. Can't wait to see where they're going with it!

Lisa Clark

I need to go back and watch Akasha's ranting again but I think she went from talking about herself in the third person to the first person. That was crazy.

Valentine

Just saying Armand has been the same person for quite a long time Law 4: A vampire must never reveal their true nature to a mortal and let that mortal live. Larry left the band knowing and also Lestat is literally telegraphing the end in which Larry had a hand in. Armand already told you what he is about last episode he doesn’t want the great conversation and Lestat is ushering it in and making more. Not serious: Tbf Lestat was grating on Larry this entire episode making him feel small he needed to rest lol armand de merciful. Akasha is everything to me, omfg she is played so perfectly the accent the intensity. Just a masterclass in acting. Her whole monolog was gorgeous SHE is gorgeous! Sheila Atim is the definition of an ethereal beauty I could gush about her all day and night

Isaiah

akasha is finally here 😩 she’s perfect

Mari Vaz

Well Armand tried to ask nicely to Lestat to stop making music 👉🏻👈🏻 I fear it will only get worse. I do wish they would not have to rush through so many important plot points.

Tasia Barrett

Oak, they usually have the new songs from the previous episode up after a few days on Spotify. :)

Crystal

This episode was everything. We got Loustat, Stained Glass Eyes, a shoutout to Wegmans (best grocery store in the country), Armand back on his fuck shit, several Amel mentions and finally our Queen Akasha! Sheila Atim killed that monologue, we are not worthy 😩🙌🏽 Seeing how they are laying this out and where we are headed, I know the cliffhangers on the last ep are going to be sooo good. At least we’ll have the album to play on repeat until season 4. Also can we talk about how they alluded to Daniel raping a male student??? Or at least being really aggressive with them, I’m like wtf???! Oh and Christopher Heyerdahl playing Marius after being Marcus in Twilight series was cracking me up lol

Myranda

The parts with Louis, Regina, and Lestat really broke me this episode. Regardless of how awkward and/or creepy what louis is doing with Regina, when you think about it deep down it's just sad. At least to me. It's sad more than anything. And Jacob and Sam's ability to portray guilt, grief, and sorrow in their eyes when they look at her is tragically beautiful. Like that's their daughter! Even though Louis is being a bit of a weirdo... that's his daughter that he keeps seeing. And Lestat, with all his issues with Claudia, when he walks into that diner he sees his daughter again. His daughter that he remembers the sound of her heart. The daughter that he hasn't seen since he watched her burn right in front of him, something that not even Louis had to witness. So the fact that Louis called up Lestat specifically to come and look at her is so heartbreaking, because those were her dads at the end of the day, regardless of how their relationship dynamics and feelings towards each other changed. And then of course, Lestat's song. Finally, a song that means something and it's a heartfelt tribute to his dead daughter. UGH IT'S JUST SO TRAGIC.

Laura O

Mexico? That was my case! Watching this makes me feel better🥹

Laura O

Tuesday 😊

Crystalrose

Love that we have a Lescel (Oak) and an Armandcel (Answer) reacting to this episode at the same time LOLOL (i feel like mason quinn is in the neutral zone) it makes these reactions so much fun! Also this was a crazy heavy episode i'm with you Quinn -you definitely need to re-watch this episode to catch all the dialogue because it was a lot and some of it i still have questions about but i think it will all come together by the end of the season for sure!!

ArcAngel

First, yes Armand shouldn't have killed Larry, but don't forget he is trying to stop the Great Conversion. He is probably trying to keep Lestat from finishing his album to stop Gabriella's plan to START the Great Conversion -- of course she wants to turn the band into vampires, guys... she's dying to convert them! 🙏❤😇

schwoopsie

I enjoyed this episode so much! This one and episode 3 are my favorite so far. I love how excited Oak gets in every reaction, especially when it comes to Sam Reid, he never misses a chance to praise him, I can relate 🤭 Also, it was so funny how quick he was to acuse Armand of faking Claudia's death, but to be fair, it does seem like something he would do

Tyah Reacts

I deeply appreciate Oak's enthusiasm😂🫶🏾

Anaïs

I thinks it’s hard for Armand hater to understand but at the end Armand is RIGHT to not want the great conversion lestat making more vampires is such a bad idea the fact that it’s Gabriella idea should indicate how much of a bad idea it is

Knightmare

Ashka is here... I can finally die in peace

Emily G

I hope you guys will consider the show Outlander for a reaction there is hardly anyone reacting to it that I can think of and I think you guys would enjoy it! I would love to see your reactions to it!

Eboe Thrasher

It's not her, Oak, because Lestat was her maker. He would not be able to speak with her telepathically. And this storyline is added for the show, because Louis is barely in the book, so they had to add parts to flesh it out to have more Louis in the show.

Eboe Thrasher

Lestat let Alex go, and IIRC that was after he had revealed his true nature to them already? I think this is an Armand decision to just cause chaos, because he told Daniel he would help get him out of the project/get it over, and someone committing suicide, he thought, would make it shorter, when in reality it will make it even longer.

Cydney claire

Gabriella has been egging the great conversion on for several episodes now, the main thing she’s manipulating lestat for, and even convinced lestat to keep going with the music (despite it actively putting him in harms way in all aspects) because it’s essentially a catastrophe/death sentence for humans with encouraging the great conversion. Armand is against the great conversion, because it can end with the eradication/war on vampires, which is why he’s so murderous right now, and why he so strongly wants to stick to the founding rules (not revealing your nature to mortals and let them live, aka Larry 💔) because it’s provided stability for him and vampire kind! the great conversion is just not gonna end well and would be a suicide mission for both sides. Gabriella is absolutely elated at conditioning lestat into turning his band. Also, to refresh you guys, Marius is Armand’s maker, who groomed and sexually abused him in his youth to adulthood, so he’s the reason Armand is the trainwreck he is 💔 the rotten boy comment is so visceral coming from Marius, considering he turned him into that, and left him to fend for himself and get forced into a cult, being a big reason why he’s so strongly driven to cults and covens. I always giggle at the reactions to Armand, it’s my favorite. But he isn’t evil just to be evil, but rather operates on a strict system to regulate order and autonomy that was robbed of him in youth/sex slavery, enforced into him by religious cults which is pretty much the only “stability” he was taught. His actions have always been a hurricane of establishing safety through absolute order, and craving connection thru harmful dynamics because of the grooming. So while his actions are atrocious, they aren’t done “just because” most of the time LOL but end up being deeply disturbing given all he knows is abuse and violence thru authority I believe! He lies to protect whatever he has at the moment, and does memory wiping for the same reason, even though it’s detrimental to all the connections around him 😭 a deeply disturbed vampire stuck in a terrible cycle

Knightmare

Idk I'm still on Armand's side 😂

Anaïs

Right? The great conversion is such a bad idea he try to tell everyone but absolutely no one is listening to him

Anaïs

The « rotten boy » comment makes me want to swing at Marius

Anaïs

Oak you do realize that Marius calling Armand « rotten boy » is wrong right ? I get not liking Armand but man… some comments are so weird

Cydney claire

He rly had the nerve to abuse him and sell him to people and then discard him bc he’s “ruined goods” to him and a puppet he can’t control anymore 😭 whole time Armand thinking he died 💔💔 damned with him and damned without him FUCK

Seu Oz

what?

Marie RammGirl

Your reactions to Akasha saying she's the Answer was gold haha!. Nice touch they did with Lestat imagining Louis/Nicky/Claudia there as he sang, definitely feels like the songs are inspired by them, even if he won't admit it to anyone & had a little chuckle over way he said "Scoop" 😄 Also there's proof that it's not Claudia as Lestat wouldn't be able to talk to her telepathically, since he was her maker, poor Louis just using this obsession with her as a coping mechanism for his grief.

Alex

In the book, Armand tells Lestat and Gabrielle about his maker Marius (who is thousands of years old). Marius intrigues Lestat. When Lestat travels the world with Gabrielle he carves messages for Marius cause he thinks he's not actually dead. Lestat sleeps in the dirt after he finds out about Nicki's death, his mom leaves (yet again) and his family is killed (except his dad who escapes to New Orleans that's why Lestat goes there to take care of him) he is mourning. Marius digs him up and he shows Lestat Those Who Must Be Kept, Akasha and Enkil. Lestat impulsively decides to play Nicki's violin for them and wakes them up. Chaos ensues. Also, Armand is made into a vampire at about 16 years old in the books, and Marius grooms him & is sexually inappropriate.

Anaïs

I think that my comment is pretty clear

Seu Oz

don't expect everybody watching the show knowing everything and keeping tracks, especially of a season that aired years ago. You might be obsessed with this character, most people aren't. And if you really cared about anything but your obsession for Armand, you'd know the reactors would never joke about the thing you're insinuating.

Anaïs

My obsession with Armand ? Are you good ? You don’t know me ??

Seu Oz

Did I stutter ? Have you not read your own comment and the insinuation ? Stop spreading hate for the sake of your character and move on.

Anaïs

Man I’m not going to fight in the comment like I’m 12yo leave me be thank you

Mason: Thomas Aquinas, the saint? Yes, exactly—that’s the one. Lestat has been talking about him since Season 1, Episode 1, and does so again in Episode 2 of the current season; he learned about him at the monastery. However, the "billion stars" quote is factually incorrect, given that Aquinas lived in the 13th century and the "concept" of stars—in the sense implied here—didn't exist yet. Still, the media attributes it to Aquinas and uses a modified version—because, well, that’s what the media does. I love it because the writers are fully aware of this fact and use it precisely for that reason. It’s about how a story gets interpreted and passed on by someone else—much like the myriad perspectives and interpretations surrounding "our" characters. They do this often in the series. In the first season, there was the "Wolverine Blues" moment—attributed to Lestat while he played Christian Petzold on the piano—which had previously been attributed to Bach. Then there’s the piece of cake set out for Marie Antoinette at Lestat’s "dinner party" for Akasha in this episode, alluding to her supposed quote, "Let them eat cake"—which, in turn, wasn't actually said by Marie Antoinette. And so on. The writers are constantly reminding us that everything is just a game of "telephone," and that truth is variable and subjective.

🦇

yes the song is called stained glass eyes and will be streaming tomorrow!

Crystalrose

This is the first time we are introduced to Marius in person the show.. let the reactors figure stuff out as its revealed 🙏

Charity Konusser (the chonus)

Do you not think that some of this will be revealed in the upcoming final two episodes or next season, and this is full of spoilers? Maybe delete it?

spok

i don’t get why there’s so much hate specifically towards armand… we’ve seen lestat kill tons of people just for sport multiple times, but the second armand kills larry, suddenly ha! told you! armand is the villain! because we know larry, sure, but what about all the people lestat killed? or even daniel? they’re all vampires and they feed on humans. but because we’re not shown armand’s motives, or what he actually feels, a lot of people just start treating him like some flat-out villain, ignoring everything he’s been through and the fact that he didn’t just randomly become this messed up for no reason. and oak’s theory that louis sees claudia because of armand is honestly laughable. just because armand erased louis’ memories of the trial in paris, fans have completely lost it and now act like armand was secretly responsible for literally everything, in every situation, even when he wasn’t even there, and that he apparently changed ALL of louis’ memories and left nothing real in his head. when the writers literally said in an interview that that’s not the case at all. smh.

Charity Konusser (the chonus)

Hey everybody, just a quick thought - if you have read the books, please don't reveal things that happened in the books regarding our cast of characters, because it's possible/probable that some of that information will be revealed in either the next two episodes or next season. Please let the guys watch the show spoiler-free. Thanks!

Lisa Clark

So, I've been cruising around the comments here this morning and just wanted to add my 2 cents about the gremlin. We've seen Armand largely in the background since he showed up and yes, he has been saying that this is all a mistake and it is going to get everyone killed. However, I don't believe that right now we can *directly* make the case that he did what he did at the end of the last episode because of that. We haven't had a conversation between Lestat and Armand about this subject (or for that matter, Gabriella). I suspect we might see something like that next week where he spells it out for everybody. I do want to add though that I think this can be two things: he can be doing this for what sees as the greater good and he can be doing it to get back at Lestat. It's convenient for him and I think he took that chance to kill two birds with one stone. Just my fifth of a dime, though.

Lisa Clark

At the end of the day, I don't think we can judge most of these characters on the basis of good or evil. They're all pretty morally grey. However, that also doesn't negate the fact that we can make our own judgements about their individual actions and for me, what Armand did to Louis and Daniel was wrong. I think Armand believes he can make these surface level apologies and all is right again which is what I think he was doing with the steps. He just doesn't know how to take accountability for anything.

Lisa Clark

And I want to add that I don't hate the character and think he is probably going to be redeemed by his actions right now and in the future surrounding The Great Conversion.

Rena Unnie

my dear french fellows, was it a french accent from the lady at the restaurant? it sounded german (or russian) or something lol. or perharps it was "bad" in purpose to show it was all a play pretend.

Rena Unnie

not everyone remember who is marius. personnaly i didn't, i had to read someone else comment! so they probably don't remember either :) don't hold it too hard <3

A

Oak HATES Armand 😂

A

@oak the song is called stained glass eyes and it’ll be available from midnight tonight on streaming 😘

🪼

Waiting for you guys to watch the newsreader 😩🫱🏽‍🫲🏾

Valentine

I'm like, yeah, the great conversion must be stopped. I feel like we aren't asking more questions or chastising people for their parts to play in place of Armand, when objectively he is on the right side of history

Anaïs

I mean, if by the end Armand turns out to be right, it's a brilliant narrative choice to make the one character that no one trusts (not even the audience) the one who's actually right.

Shay

Armand de kind, Armand de merciful he can’t do nothing wrong, except killing Larry’s fine ass but I trust his judgment 👹👹

Miss Freaky

24 hours later and I am still bewitched. That episode, that song was amazing, brilliant, capturing!! Loving the series thus far! Hope y'all have a beautiful week!

roz

they clearly did not realise who marius was, given that they did not comment on it when he was introduced this ep. they have watched each episode of this show only once and they likely don't see much content of it online. for casual viewers, it's easy to miss the relevance of such things in particularly dialogue-heavy episodes. please have some grace with them and be polite.

Sia Bak

Neither fledglings nor their makers can read each other’s minds. Remember how Louis and Claudia plotted in the first season? They exchanged ideas telepathically, and Lestat couldn’t read their minds or know what they were planning. But then again, there was Antoinette, so… :)

Sheida Az

Oak should definitely listen to "When I Call Out Your Name" which is one of this episode's songs... he's gonna love it. Sam Reid is unreal.

Crystal

Everything of what they said has already been seen or talked about in the show already, so this isn’t spoilers at all. Also the book timeline is different than the show and many things have changed. I think the comment is fine.

Alex

hey Charity, I was just explaining the scenes in more detail from the books, I wasn't trying to reveal spoilers :)

So Tired

AKASHA IS HERE!!!!!

TheUndeadHour

I love how into it Oak gets! Fantastic episode and it WAS f*ckin awesome peak television.

Grace G

she is AMAZING, I was absolutely blown away by Sheila Atim's performance. And the SFX makeup!!!!!!!! Just incredible

Lisa Clark

OMG. I hope he sees this. This is hilarious

jo

i was just WAITING to see Oak’s reaction to Stained Glass Eyes and it definitely didn’t disappoint. I can always count on him to appreciate an 80’s ballad 🙂‍↕️

Nicholas James

I think Armand just likes making people end themselves, he tried to make Daniel do it and now this guy. Even the theatres whole thing was making the captive humans accept the death that was coming for them. Its just his thing ig.

Miya

It was bad on purpose and it's even noted in the closed caption as "Bad French Accent" when she speaks lol. She's an off off off Broadway actress hired to play Madeleine.

Miya

Thank you so much for writing this comment. You captured all my thoughts on the Louis-Regina/Claudia-Lestat situation so well. I truly teared up during that scene with Lestat and Regina in the diner and Lestat's tribute nearly broke me. Aside from Lestat and Louis's reunion at the end of Season 2, this is the first time we really see Lestat process the events of the trial and engage with the memory of his daughter. 💙

Miya

Omg the way I sat UP when Armand mentioned the situation with the student. Given what we know Daniel did to that young woman in high school (i.e., the paper bag situation, ugh), I was really wondering if this was a case of SA because wtfff??

Miya

@Eboe Trasher But didn't Armand seek out Alex to basically work through him to get intel on the band among other things? I got the sense that was the case given Armand being Alex's sponsor, Alex falling off the wagon (a great way to get him to ruin things for the band), and Alex using Armand's language at times (telling Larry he should rest). I've never seen Armand as an agent of chaos just for chaos's sake. He's very methodical and his moves are typically strategic.

Shola Ayisha

oak was leaping to conclusions i'm crying
