They filmed season 2 and 3 back to back its all done already so he shouldnt age a ton

Sailingcats420

Man they ruined this season, so heartbreaking they couldn't just follow the original story.

Fajar Kurniawan

I have a bad feeling when the original creator left the production it's the usual modern writers mentality that 'we can do better than the original, so let's rewrite the story that people already love, and make it our own' we have see few examples of adaptation getting ruined in later seasons because of this.

Ron B.

Yeah idk what was up with that whole Zuko blue spirit mask reveal. Didn’t we get a whole episode last season with him as the blue spirit?? And he has this whole different mask. Why did he get rid of the original one? This season is acting like this is his first time being the blue spirit.

Lizzie✨

I disagree that they “ruined” the original story, I didn’t love every change but the essence was still there🤷🏾‍♀️

GillyBean

the 'reveal' was for people like my mum who already forgot XD

I had the biggest smile on my face seeing the big pop reaction of Quinn's gleeful excitement over "MY CABBAGES!" line (I've been eagerly awaiting it since it was a favourite moment of mine too) Oak said for Answer to do it, but I think you'd all look cool in the blue robe Katara was wearing there. Both of Toph's Tea scenes with Katara/Iroh was great, 1 amusing, 1 touching, Toph/Iroh are definitely my favourites characters in this show. The 'Poetry Battle' between Toph/Sokka was great how they used the dialogue like that to express their feelings about the situation. Again the visuals were impressive, especially the Library & when they went into spirit form. Whoa, that post discussion on eps 5 was abit heated, I get why people maybe upset with some changes, but I hope it's not only things fans focus on, I'm gonna be like Mason Quinn & take the ride & enjoy the show (that's probably gonna get me alot of hate, but it's not the first show that's deviated away from the source material).

GillyBean

I think people are little over harsh on this show. its a good show! nothing will ever compare to the original for sure, and nothing can beat the nostalgia some of us have for it. but i think they did good work. the kids are killing it. the references are fun, the pacing is good. the effects are great. the fighting choreo is amazing. i think people need to chill a bit and enjoy the ride. just like you guys are.

Wattyone1

O joy, Oaks going to sit with an face like thunder for the finale now, hope I'm wrong though, also it calls itself a live action adaptation not like for like, I've enjoyed it so far and agree with mason Quinn

GillyBean

shouldn't have commented before hearing the seconds eps discussion lmao. Oak, chill XD if you enjoyed it, you enjoyed it. don't let comparison ruin your fun 😭 Answer... 🤫

I don't mind that they have to change the story to fit a Live Action. I do have a problem with changing the characters (I think the big reason One Piece was so successful even with changes from the original journey, is that all the characters feel the same) NATLA changing Zuko for no reason (why make him steal food from the pregnant woman?)... Azula making Mai and TyLee fight each other to death makes no sense (same with they going along with it). I did like they added some depth to Sokka And Toph is also very good

DilliePickle

It’s why the One Piece LA is successful. With Oda on board, the amount of funny business that gets past him is reduced

The original animated creators on why they left this project even before Season 1: "[Netflix's] general handling of the project created what I felt was a negative and unsupportive environment. To be clear, this was not a simple matter of us not getting our way. Mike and I are collaborative people; we did not need all of the ideas to come from us. As long as we felt those ideas were in line with the spirit and integrity of Avatar, we would have happily embraced them. However, we ultimately came to the belief that we would not be able to meaningfully guide the direction of the series" When the OG creators leave, and make it a point to announce there was a negative environment that didn't value the integrity of the OG series.... I mean, I'm happy for those who enjoy it, but personally I'm not on board with this adaptation. Happy if it introduces more people to ATLA though

patrick

Sorry, but... Azula making Mai and Tylee fight each other makes no sense? Have you forgot how Azula recruited Tylee in the animated show? They wanted to show how crazy Azula is and I can totally see her make them both fight in the animated show

Jamie Campbell Bower has put it well how the entertainment industry goes: you create something and that becomes a sort of a rock in your hand, which you then throw at the ppl whose willing to receive it and then you ran in the opposite direction bc you know it is not in your hands how ppl will take your creation. This is a version of Atla. That's how it should be taken. It wasn't made to be a 100% copy of the original series. The creators have their own vision they go by with this live-action, *based on* the original series. No, they haven't asked the fandom what we would want bc that is not how the tv and film industry work. Nothing would get done like that. We don't have to like all of it bc it's not 100% the same. That is why we shouldn't compare bc it's a lost game to begin with and was never intended to be done. And yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, whether they align with the creator's views on this product or not. There is no right or wrong opinion, just your own, and the mindset you decide to go about it.

Corey Weiner

The og creators also wanted to change the story… they wanted to make Iroh evil

Lee Ivory

I think at this point in the series people should realize that this show is an ADAPTATION of the original series, not a shot for shot remake. It's fine if you don't like certain changes within the show, but we have to keep in mind the length of the live action series versus the animated show, not just the amount of money they were given. The fact of the matter is is they weren't given enough episodes per season to fully recreate the story, so things have to be changed. Regardless of how they had to condense and rearrange plot lines, I am still enjoying the show overall, even as a diehard fan of the animated series. We also have to remember that A LOT of people have not seen the original animation, so this is a fresh story for them. I'm reminded of the proverb "Comparison is the thief of joy," and that's exactly what a lot of people are allowing to happen. Too many OG fans are ruining this new experience for new viewers by constantly comparing and harping on the changes that they hate about this show. Before Oak was reminded of specific details of the OG series, he had no real issues about the show and enjoyed the episode. I'm not saying you can't share your opinions, but when it starts to affect other people's enjoyment of the show I think we need to take a step back and just enjoy it for what it is, like what Mason Quinn was saying.

I love this version of Jet’s death better. Imo it’s more meaningful

A little story. When I saw Superman (1978) in the theater during its original release (yes, I'm THAT old), I didn't like it. It changed things from the comics and that annoyed me. But as time has passed, I learned to appreciate it for what it is and separate it from what it's not. No adaptation is going to be an exact representation of the source material. If it is, it's probably unnecessary. When a musical artist does a cover, I want them to put their own spin on the song. Otherwise, I'm not interested. This is not the original. The original is still out there for those that want to experience it again. This series is a new story BASED on the original. It should be evaluated, good or bad, on its own independent merits.
