Didn't think this episode was perfect by any means, but it ended up alleviating a lot of my fears about whether they'd be able to recapture any of the magic. I'd grade it at around a B or B-. I'm so relieved at how solid it ended up being and can't wait for next week.

SUPER-excited for this reaction - I saw the episode last night and all I could think about was what you guys were going to think! The manager at the supermarket is Ronnie Fowch - eating a Butterfinger candy bar. Waaaaay back in S01E02, Ted told Roy a story about Ronnie Fowch when Roy was asking Ted to stop the team from bullying Nate -- "Roy, I learned two pretty big lessons on the rough-and-tumble playgrounds of Brook Ridge Elementary School. One: if little Ronnie Fowch offers you a candy bar, you immediately say no and you get the hell out of there, 'cause there's a good chance that little son of a gun has just pooped inside of a Butterfinger wrapper." AND The woman who runs the Dazzle Me Moi shop is Tammy Dineen. in S01E04, Ted shares a story with Rupert at the benefit, and says "Love of a sports team is a lifetime obsession. Kinda like your best friend's older sister, right? Hey, but do me a favour. If you're ever in Kansas City and come across a fella named Tom Dineen, don't tell him I said that." They are working HARD on that continuity!

I would love to see your guy’s reaction to Outlander or Big Little Lies! Both are great shows with hardly any reactions. I hope you will consider it even if it’s just a couple season trial period. 🤞

The time jump makes sense..S3 ended in 2023, and S4 is starting in 2026, so it’s around 3 years. I have to disagree with Mason Quinn…I think it’s better that Michelle and Ted just stay friendly co-parents. As a child of divorce, seeing my parents separated but in such happier places is SO much better.

i think henry felt guilty that ted didn’t want to take the job to stay with him. and michelle definitely noticed. as well as how happy henry is with ted. so i think her moving to london with ted was a sacrifice she’s making as a mom for her son to make him happy.

I think they recast because the other kid wasn't that great (at least that's my opinion). I have high hopes for Henry 2.0!

Also the paperback book in the box of stuff from his room was Johnny Tremaine - the book his dad stayed up all night reading so he could explain it to Ted in the car on the way to school so Ted would pass the test on it.

That was a nice unexpected surprise seeing a "M'Lady' from Ted & our BM guys yay! ^_^ I think we've all done what Rebecca did with her clothes when eating BBQ food hehe, had an unexpected giggle from the way Oak said "Nappies" hehe 😂 & cheeky giggles over all 3 of your reactions to Matthijis/Rebecca's Webcam conversation 🤭 Liked the callback of the biscuits there & I too was surprised, but in a good way that Henry/Michelle are coming along for the ride, as that will be a whole different kind of fun to see how it all fares this time round, a good start to the season, but Ted STILL doesn't like Tea? boooo haha! we'll convert him by end of the season hehe. 😝 ☕️

Rewatching the episode: did anyone else notice that when Ted was looking at the plaque for his dad, you could see the anxiety on his face and the high-pitched ringing sound started (signaling a panic attack brewing), and then we instantly cut to Ted putting down the heavy box for his mom, and the sound was almost like a banging sound…similar to the sound of a gun shot. Considering we now have context of how Ted’s dad passed away and Ted was home when it happened (we can assume THAT was the home)…it was even more emotional. I’m sure he’s got PTSD and glad he’s mom is moving out, for both of their mental health.

I think Michelle is going as well, which will be... interesting. What happens the next time Sassy comes to visit Rebecca? She and Ted have a tendency to wind up in the same bed whenever she appears on the show.

True story - CPKC Stadium in Kansas City, MO is in fact the first privately funded stadium in the world ever purpose built specifically for a women's soccer team. Kansas City also has an MLS team (men's league), Sporting Kansas City, but they play their home games at Sporting Park in Kansas City, KS. "How many cities are in this city?" was a callback to S1 when Ted asked Beard "How many countries in this country?" about the four constituent countries of the UK.
