This is one of my favorite episodes of the whole show, I've been anxiously waiting for the reaction to this one. From the hilarious scenes with Captain Ri's crew, to the tender moment between Ri and Seri talking about the future they would like to have together, and everything in between, is so great. That scene at the end when she comes home and starts crying because she thinks he's left already is gut wrenching, I was bawling with her when I first watched it. But my favorite part of the episode is that we learn about how Seri's mom made her feel like her existence was a burden, and then Captain Ri tells her exactly the opposite, that her very existence is a reason for him to be grateful. It's actually one of my favorite moments of the show, him holding her and telling her that she matters to him. For someone who spent her whole life feeling like a burden, those words must have been so healing for her ❤️

2026-09-06 11:00 I hadn't watched any K dramas before but decided to check out CLOY. I'll be honest, I tried watching the first episode with you, but had trouble keeping up with the subtitles, so I watched it dubbed on my own all the way through. WHAT A RIDE!!! I love it and now I'm rewatching with you and starting ep 8 after work tonight. Subtitles are easier on the second watch. I always enjoy Badd Medicine Reactions If you are gonna keep Tuesdays for romance dramas like Bridgerton and Off Campus, I would suggest Outlander... check out the premise: A strong independant woman finds herself someplace she's not supposed to be and is trying to get home where she meets a handsome stranger who wants to protect her... sound familiar?? PLEASE check out Outlander soon!!!!

I think you guys forgot or missed the beginning where they told us she is her father's illegitimate child from an affair. So that's her step mother and step brothers only.

Seelia

Definitely one of the best episodes of this drama. Loved the reunion of Seri and the boys. Her relationship with Captain Ri is also so good and organic cuz we all know by now, those feelings were probably very real. It's like this drama is the documentary of their real romance and we get to watch them fall in love in real time. Excited for the next episode! ❤

The show has said multiple times that Se-ri's mom isn't her biological mom so it's safe to assume that Dad cheated on Mom and that's why she wanted Se-ri gone and why she held so much resentment for her. She left Se-ri on the beach to die pretty much but it's clear that Mom holds a lot of regret over that night.

Rawaby 1204

Yeah sometimes Kdramas don’t even say it directly but if one of the parents is not the biological then you can assume s/he is the illegitimate child

This one has few of my favorite scenes ! Her crying before the birthday party was breaking my heart ! Love your reaction and love how you keep telling them about the Switzerland solution 😂 also they got married 3 years after the drama so if he used that ment for the vows then he took it from the show not the other way around

ShaniaBADDIE4LIFE🤘🐶🐱✨

"Jeonge Hyeok. Did you leave? Did you? This soon?" had me crying like a baby when I tell you. Se-ri crushed that 😭

Alicia

they're her half brothers

Seelia

Yes, yes, half brothers.

I've been watching CLOY for the first time with you guys and I'm getting more and more hooked! Great reaction as always. To answer your question Oak, when defectors from the North arrive in South Korea, they have to be interrogated and evaluated by the NIS (the Korean version of the CIA, I guess?), and then enter a integration program. From what I understand, they're isolated from society for a few months at a dedicated facility. But they're never sent back unless they explicitly ask to be, or if there's a strong suspicion that they're spies. As for the families left behind, if it's found out that someone defected, the rest of the family can be executed or sent to political prison camps. That's what makes the decision so incredibly difficult.

It might help understand the situation with mum if you think about the mum's situation. She had a family with two sons and then her husband had a child with somebody else and then brought the child home for her to raise. She is uncomfortable with this child who is the result of her husband cheating, see how she pulls her hand away from her in the beach. That's why Seri says I made my mothers life hell just by being born. You might also remember mum saying that they have slept in separate rooms for 20 years. That's no excuse for what she did to a child, but that's why Seri is so understanding about it.

Knightmare

Mom left her at the beach because she harbored a grudge for the (bastard) child that her husband brought back one day from his affair and she was forced to accept her as part of the family. She also harbors a grudge for the husband because in one of the episodes the kids said they haven't shared a bed in 20 years or something. In Korea, these family businesses that you always see in kDramas where position is basically given because of blood are called chaebol families and are very real. In the first episode, the mom is introduced by asking Se-Ri if she thinks she deserves this "her dad's favor + going up in the family business." Basically Se-Ri is like Jon Snow.

Knightmare

Outlander is TOO good

Chrystal O'Brien

That isn’t her biological mom. I think her dad had an affair and then brought Se-re home to be raised by his wife. So her mom was always cold towards her.

Tara ✨💫

Hey fellas! I believe her name is pronounced "Dawn" even though it's spelled Dan 🙂

Yeong Ae didn't want the other ladies from the village bringing her food because she knew it was dangerous since men had already come and taken her husband away. She didn't want anything to happen to the to them, but she gave in an accepted their help

Same 😭😭 I was like, on her birthday!?
