I have no idea what this is. Always fun to go in blind

MadBone127

Personally, I didn't particularly like this movie when I watched it alone. I didn't hate it - it was just kind of dull and tonally all over the place. But I am looking forward to seeing it with you to hear your thoughts. ETA: ok, a lot more entertaining to watch with you but I still don't think it's a good movie. Definitely more fun with others, though. Thanks for the reaction.

Ala Lulu

Just watched it right before the reaction. It's a bit of a weird movie, but I liked it. It starts out like an old-fashioned Spielberg movie, but it gets weirder and trippier as it goes on. The dinosaur effects and sound design were amazing

Tania R

First time watch, and yep, this feels just like an old school Spielberg film. Still watching, but I’m having a lot of fun at the moment!

Chris Skalicky

I really liked this movie. It felt like something out of the 80s or early 90s.

Jo

Suppoedly the snake was a Titanoboa

Victoria 🌱

Oh hey, I looked this one up a few weeks ago after spotting the poster at my local cinema! Neat!

Tania R

Well, I finished it! All I’ll say is I absolutely loved the score. I thought the music was awesome, but the rest… I’m a little disappointed. It was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I think I was just desperately wanting a fun dinosaur movie. 😂

Jo

Also there are 2 Jeannette's at the end scene there

Money-Kate Olsen

Yeah, I thought it was good but could've been better with a bit more revision of the script. That Anne's character allowed the other versions to go back and saved only her husband made sense to me, since that other version of Anne didn't appreciate the husband anyway. Yeah, she could've at least saved the other kids, but she probably didn't want two sets of kids to deal with. 😂😂😂

333llie

this is unrelated to this post but i need you guys to watch the new trailer for hunger game sunrise on the reaping that dropped today! as someone who read the book, from what we’ve seen so far it looks amazing!

fatoumata cisse

The ending was a bit disturbing cause Denise literally killed her other self and her other kids so she could get a second chance with her husband

Money-Kate Olsen

I don’t think they will, since they said before they only like watching one trailer for an upcoming movie or show, like with Harry Potter on HBO. They’ve already reacted to the first trailer, so they’ll probably just wait until the movie comes out and react to it.

Chris Skalicky

Also, this is that type of movie (like ones in the 80s & 90s) where "stuff" just happens and you roll with it for the story and it doesn't need some big explanation or over analysis on the "well, actuallys" or "what about this" things.

Kyle

Surpsrised they didn’t notice

Stephanie Kirk

So yes, when Denise, the kids, and Jeanette come back to 1982, there's another version of them, their original selves that are about to be transported back in time, still down in their homes, a few minutes prior to the wormhole event. Denise chooses to call Greg who's out delivering pizzas to come up so he is safe and calls some of the neighbors but doesn't call her own self or her kids. Jeanette goes to save her family which includes her original self. At the end of the movie when they're having Jeanette's family over you can see two Jeanettes. I guess Denise could have called herself to save herself and her kids but that is such a weird scenario so I understand why she didn't do it. So yes in this new timeline, Denise and her kids go back but not Greg, Jeanette, Jeanette's family, or some of the neighbors. There's still a chance that Denise and the kids survive and get a wormhole back but we will never know.

I'm Batman

Kinda in the middle for me. Loved the designs of the dinosaurs and for the most part the comedy parts weren't too distracting, but tonally it doesn't really pick a lane, it's kinda all over the place and the music threw me way off, wasn't a fan of it given everything that was going on. Music sets the tone for what's going on on screen and it just didn't match up at all. It was fun and if you shut your brain off and just take the ride I think it's passable. Overall I'm gonna give this a 3.75/5.

I'm Batman

The coolest yet creepiest creature in this movie. Snakes don't bother me at all, but this one made my stomach turn insideout.

Luna

Oak & Diamond Dave are correct that it’s not a “Bill & Ted” type of situation because you can see 2 Jeanette’s at the end scene when they all gather together in the backyard. So yeaaa, Denise (aka Anne), did not save her duplicate self or her duplicate children. I loved the whole movie tho, definitely a fun time. Although I couldn’t help but feel some slight “Lindsay Clancy” vibes from the Denise character lmao 🤣

2026-09-19 14:00 Oak is right, and he's pointing out a branching timeline with a causal loop. We don't know if the mom and kids from New/Old Dad's timeline survive or figure out the portal. We can probably assume they don't make it because they might have gone looking for Greg early and gotten eaten like other people in the street. Plus, the portal was originally found the night the son went chasing his dog, which he might not have done in the new timeline. It would be fun to watch your reactions and arguments about the excellent sci fi show Dark. It's a masterpiece.

oh, since they already watched both the teaser and the official trailers i guess i thought they might be willing to watch the new one

Fajar Kurniawan

Imagine if the 'other' mother and children also survive and manage to return to the same timeline

mdl

I'm not gonna think about this movie too hard or try to make sense of the wormhole and the implications of whatever they did at the end to save themselves. I like dinosaurs.

Tania R

I like dinosaurs too! That’s exactly why I was looking forward to this. I loved them growing up as a kid, although I think my childhood was slightly traumatized by this one. 🦖😅

Childless Bambino

There aren't enough humping dinosaurs in movies nowadays /s 😹😹😹

2026-09-19 14:00 Wow, that was a first for me. "Dinosaur Party Time" 🤣
2026-09-17 06:55 Wow, I didn't have Dinosaur Party Time on my bingo card. 🤣

Wow, I didn't have Dinosaur Party Time on my bingo card. 🤣

1:58:10 Dave accidentally called MQ “babe” 😭 or hey maybe it was on purpose, different lingo is possible I just found it funny lol

Rena Unnie

You know what? I like the good ending! They did "stole" the dad from the old timeline, lmao. But I just needed something good and nice. I didn't notice the two Jeanettes.

roxie c

if they do plan on watching it someday it’s probably best to not mention there’s [] involved! it’s obvious early on but it’s better if they don’t know anything

Simon

Quinn: "I was giving the cats names so we could have more empathy for them" Also Quinn: *laughs while hearing the first cat being taken out off-screen* 😢

Rawaby 1204

The cinema experience for this movie was one of the best ones i had , coincidentally we had the whole screen for ourselves and the sound was loud enough to make us feel we are there with them , it’s a fun movie , not the best and probably have plot holes but you can definitely enjoy it if you watch it lightly, i also liked the graphics(?) on it , and as oak says they did choose the species well , i also agree with mason quinn about the comedy, i was stressed enough but a lot of scenes were funny and I think it was meant to be like that

Eboe Thrasher

I caught the 2 Jeanettes at the end two and didn't think she had a twin. It seemed like the one who traveled was hanging around with the kids whereas the other one was coming over with her family. I can understand the bonding.

Eboe Thrasher

It was fun until it wasn't lol. I had seen trailers and none of those imply that it is fun.

Eboe Thrasher

He would have died going there anyway so she spared them that trauma. They could have had an entirely different outcome that could have still ended positively without Greg there. We don't know. We do know that there are 2 Jeanettes at the end, though. And I would kill off versions of me that I don't know to save the family member that didn't make it out alive. It was for all 3 of them.

Kacie

This movie was fun in the theater. Everyone had the exact same response you all did at that one scene. Mouth open and in pure shock. Fun summer movie, I enjoyed it!

Chris B

I don't know what this is. All I saw was my browser window cut off before the word "street" so just saw END OF OAK. Got worried for a second ;)

Kiss the Librarian

Good point roxie! I've removed the thing and it may help if you also remove the thing from your comment (though obviously I triggered you to say the thing in the first place, to no fault of your own). :)

luvbug

Pls react to the Disney movie ‘The Game Plan’ with the Rock!!!!!

luvbug

it’s a great movie about being a dad and football!!!

Marie RammGirl

Quinn/Answer teasing Oak about the name of the street haha & yay for the "Nectarine" reference, it gave me a good cheeky giggle 🍊🍑🤭 & face Quinn pulls over his "Chryster" comment 😂 also was NOT expecting Dinosaur sexy time in this movie, but what really made me keel over in laughter was your reactions to that & Greg's photo pose in front of it hehe ;) when Greg went all HHH sledgehammer on him I first thought, what a badass way to go out on! & your reactions to that scene was gold! 3 of you cheering while DD with a "What The Hell?! That Worked?!" kinda expression ha & surprised the Dinosaur didn't get Brainfreeze from eating all that ice cream!. A cool Jurassic Park inspired movie with some Sci Fi & Comedic moments 3.8 for me.

roxie c

removed it! 🤍

Kovu

I mean its better then being brought back to when the earth was still first forming. That would have been literal hell

Hal Perry

The scene where the Dinosaur gets knocked out by the father is absolutely golden. Diamond Dave's reaction to that was priceless.

The End of Oak Street is about the danger of romanticising the past. The film presents the 1980s as an idyllic period of community, family and simplicity, before gradually revealing that this image only exists because everyone is suppressing the uglier realities underneath it. The dinosaurs therefore aren't simply a threat from the past; they're the past itself, coming to expose everything. The film starts with a BBQ where the whole community is coming together, giving us a romanticised, idyllic version of life in the 1980s. A neighbour says to Greg, “You got a great family. You’re a lucky man.” The Platt family are seen as an emblem of this perfect 1980s lifestyle. But they aren’t distinct; their way of life is common. They’re just the lens we’re seeing this world through. They’re representative of the “simpler times” people often look back on nostalgically. A time when you could leave your door open, the nuclear family was going strong, and communities seemed more connected. But pretty soon, it’s clear all is not as it seems. Their marriage is on shaky ground. Denise is writing a novel where she fantasises about walking out on her family and starting over. The kids are well aware of what’s going on despite Greg and Denise thinking they’re hiding it, and are even speculating about a potential divorce. So the idyllic image we’re presented with at the beginning isn't necessarily the reality of this family; it's the image everyone around them believes they're seeing. As well as trying to keep up appearances for the kids, Greg and Denise are lying and hiding things from each other. Greg has lost his job, and instead of being honest, dealing with it together and potentially becoming stronger as a couple, his attempt to keep it hidden puts even more strain on their relationship. Denise hides her novel from Greg, and when he finds it he’s devastated. Even something as mundane as Greg having to take the pizza sign off the top of his car because Denise is embarrassed by it shows how important appearances have become. They’re constantly trying to maintain an image of what their family is supposed to look like rather than confronting the reality of what it actually is. And the dinosaurs act as a metaphor for all of the things people are trying to hide in order to keep up appearances. In popular culture, we see dinosaurs as cartoon characters, kids’ movies, toys and many other harmless things. We’ve taken something that was once genuinely dangerous and transformed it into something nostalgic. They’re something from the past that we can look back at and enjoy because they’re no longer capable of hurting us. But what if they were suddenly a real danger to us again? The film shows us exactly that, and it’s fucking awful. And I think that’s the wider point about nostalgia. People can romanticise the 1980s because they’re looking back at it from a safe distance. They remember the BBQs, the communities, the nuclear families and the apparent simplicity, but forget or ignore the racism, sexism, homophobia, nuclear tension, murder rates and all of the other realities that existed alongside them. The dinosaurs are the perfect metaphor for this because they’re literally the past returning to the present. The film takes something we’ve made safe through nostalgia and asks us to imagine what would happen if it suddenly became dangerous again. And this applies to Denise more specifically too. Through her writing, she has fantasised about leaving her husband and starting over. In her imagination, leaving Greg represents freedom. But then the dinosaurs arrive, Greg is killed, and she is suddenly living the reality of the life she had fantasised about. And it isn’t what she imagined. Denise has created a fictional version of the future in exactly the same way that people create a fictional version of the past. Both are idealised because they’re being viewed from a safe distance. The film then jumps two years into the future and we see the family we saw at the beginning of the film, only now, they’re not hiding things. They’re able to be open with each other and be their authentic selves. Greg is cooking on the BBQ, which he was unable to do at the start of the film because he said he had to go make deliveries. That was what caused the first argument we saw between him and Denise. Denise is now able to write freely and has written a non-fiction book (that’s significant) rather than the fiction book she was writing at the beginning. And the BBQ itself has changed. The film opened with this very traditional, almost stereotypical image of the 1980s nuclear family. But at the end, the gathering feels much more modern and diverse. The two girls appear to be able to be together openly, and the family coming over to visit aren’t white. We’re no longer being presented with the homogeneous, picket-fence version of the past that so many people look back on and long for. And importantly, the film doesn't reject the BBQ itself. It rejects the idea that the BBQ has to represent some perfect version of life. The film opens with people hiding things and ends with people being open. The past is presented as something we need to confront honestly. And the film explores how progress requires us to acknowledge the reality of the past rather than romanticise it. The past is quite literally the antagonist, right down to Denise choosing not to save her past self and children and leaving them to face certain death. She isn't just choosing not to save them; she's choosing not to preserve the life and worldview that existed before the dinosaurs. Who they were before the dinosaurs and who they are after them are entirely different people. And they're past that old way of life now.

Captain Eaglefort

There are some odd writing beats in this movie. The whole thing with the kid with the broken arm and his brother was totally pointless, could have been cut without a single beat being hurt. I didn’t hate it, but it definitely felt like maybe it needed one more draft to me. But I’ll be honest, the entire movie is worth every second for Ewan’s delivery of “Is that a fuckin’ dinosaur?” That alone makes it a 4/5.

Rob OnlyRoss

This is a question for oak , quin and dimaond dave ?... the scene when there staring up at the houses with the flashing orb that looked like a light, remind you in the first season in Fear the walking dead when homes was quarantined and they saw the flashing light up on the hills someone trying to signal lol

Aubrey

This was a 3.75 for me. The filmmaking made the movie for me more so than the script--sound design, cinematography, set design etc. Would not have watched it on my own and wouldn't rewatch it on my own, but would definitely recommend or rewatch with friends. The naming of the cats was freaking sending me, though. Mittens, Whiskers, PawPaw. Hilarious.

dreams⁷

This movie is horrible… the writing is all over the place and feels like something a 13 years old would write, characters so annoying with zero survival instincts they got me rooting for the dinosaurs, and it felt like i can tell they’re acting in a movie set.. honestly i kept watching because of you guys.

dreams⁷

he said “Dave” he was talking to Oak😭

Paige

Hey y’all don’t dog on librarians so much haha. You need a masters degree to be a professional librarian—so definitely not an overqualified librarian. I wouldn’t personally be able to ID that plant but I’ve had colleagues that could and I’d be 0% surprised. We all have our special interests and we love research! However it is accurate to say that you can’t afford a house like that on a library salary 😂 we get paid like crap

Paige

Omg I didn’t notice :0
