This one was much better. We had more Godzilla, the battles, the CGI, all of it. Great to see some new monsters. We had more action. The story was good. We got to see Godzilla get beat up a little bit. Showing us he can be defeated. This was taking steps in a better direction. It felt like they knew what they wanted in this one compared to the first one. The cast and crew was great. Overall, good film and we are looking forward to Godzilla vs Kong!!!!

What was your reaction? Did we miss anything?

I saw this in theaters while heavily pregnant. Too bad it was MIB International that finally got her out 😂

Tomorrow. No specific time as we stay away from giving exact times. That's due to many tech issues etc that happen and then it gets delayed. 🤙🤙🤙

Lynette

Ahhh I'm looking forward to this reaction

Morhra is my fav, always tears me up during her last fight and self sacrifice to save Godzilla, (Seriwaza as well). Mothra is a truly good Titan on the universe, nature given form. Also the bringing in of the twins, in Mothra lore she's always accompanied by twin Fairies that herald her entrance or call for her help in whatever shenanigans is happening at that moment, so it was nice to see them keep with the Twins that are always with her, albiet in a more "grounded" fashion. Also, Mothra has a sort of Phoenix-ish lifecycle, so the egg in the post credits scene is Mothra "reborn". Sometimes there can be two eggs, another Mothra (femal and a twin brother called Mothra Leo, or a single egg that is generally always female, but also can be male at times. In ancient times there were many, but now just the one, or two, remains) Mothra also has a counterpart, called Black Mothra or Battra, that was the embodiment of Earth, but unlike Mothra, decided that humans were bad for Earth as a whole, so became like an Evil Mothra. And yeah, King Ghidora is not from earth, when he first arrived on earth after wiping out life on Venus, with Godzilla and Mothra taking him out that first time, (in one timeline, in another, Mothra Leo traveled back in time when Ghidora did to defeat him before he could alter earths history unappeded by Godzilla, but since he can regenerate from just any piece of himself.... hinthint) Just an agent of death. Also, after her sacrifice when her essence infused with Godzilla, when Godzilla was throwing off the blasts, if you rewatch, the noises were Mothras screams, and the blasts started off as her wings closed then opening/spreading. Also just for easter egg purposes, the other ones shown were Methuselah (the one you called a turtle), Behemoth (the mammoth/ape cross), Muto(obv), Scylla (the Spider looking one, is actually the squid they kept referring to in post credits, she's a crab/nautilus type, keeps the cold areas, cold to prevent mass flooding) Sorry for my splurges, just love the Kaijus so much lol.

The Mothra waterfall scene was one of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen in a theater. Visually and musically. Bear McCreary did a great job using beats of the monster's orginal themes with new sounds.

Yes, I love her so much, her scenes were so ethereal in the water, then the ocean entrance

Amanda P

My husband and I both said they really need to stop focusing on the humans lmao who cares about the human stories when it's a movie about the monsters?? Just here for the monsters

Ikee boi

I remember watching both this and Godzilla vs Kong in a 4D theater and man... I wish I could experience it again lol.

Nate Terry

I grew up on Godzilla movies. I watched every one I could. I remember Godzilla was a "Villain" until he turned babyface to stop King Ghidorah. Also, Mothra teamed up to stop Ghidorah. Godzilla has nuclear breath and regenerative abilities, Mothra has silk spray and sacrifice healing. Notice that when Mothra's light particles fell on Godzilla. Also, Joe Morton played Dr. Brooks (black guy at the Mothra waterfall scene) is the same character in Kong Skull Isand. Remember the nerdy black guy with glasses that accompanied John Goodman's character? He is of course older now(vietnam era) He mentioned in Kong movie he had a "Hollow Earth" theory..then it's touched on further in this movie, when Godzilla keeps disappearing in the ocean....Hollow earth! NOTE: remember in the USA midwest alone...there is plenty of empty space. most of the human populations in the ENTIRE world reside in the major cities. we are not over-populated.

Slasher2

Fun fact: this is based off or has a similar plot line of the 2001 film Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-out Attack.

Just got back from watching the movie alongside your reaction. I'm glad you guys liked this one! I don't know if you know this, but a couple years ago Godzilla became recognized an official citizen of Japan! He's a tourism ambassador now. I still think about it from time to time and it cracks me up.

I discovered your channel on YouTube and decided to take the plunge and subscribe to your Patreon because you’ve hands down become my favorite reaction group. I love all these movies so much and am glad you are enjoying them too. This was my first watch along ever and what a great ride it was!
