Love and Basketball is a heartfelt and compelling sports drama (Oak says otherwise on the sports drama lol) that intertwines the worlds of love and the competitive game of basketball. This 2000 film takes us on an emotional journey through the lives of two young athletes, Monica and Quincy, played by Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps.

The movie explores the relationship between Monica and Quincy from childhood to adulthood. Their shared passion for basketball is the foundation of their connection, and as they grow older, it's put to the test by life's challenges and expectations. The film is a refreshing departure from traditional romances, as it's both a sports drama and a love story, showcasing the struggles and aspirations of two very driven individuals.

Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps deliver fantastic performances, making their characters relatable and endearing. The chemistry between the two leads is great, making their on-screen love story both heartwarming and realistic.

What sets "Love and Basketball" apart is its focus on the personal growth of its characters, with the basketball games serving as a backdrop to their development. Also their relationships with their parents as well. This film offers a unique blend of sports, romance, and personal growth. It's a touching portrayal of love and ambition that will resonate with basketball enthusiasts and great storytelling fans. We would definitely recommend this film to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Ouuuuiii so excited for this one.. really hope y’all enjoyed it🫶🏽😊..just want to add to me comment. Fun Fact..Omar Epps and Sanaa Lathan were actually in a relation when they both audition for this role but kept it a secret because they knew they would not get the role if they were together. After they both got the role they than told the director the truth and at that point she couldn’t do anything about it cause she loved their chemistry and wanted them for the role lol. Another fun fact is that the slap from alfre Woodard was real and not part of the script💀. Not sure if you guys could see on Sanaa face how raw her emotions was after that slap😭… Love and basketball is the best classic urban film ever an inspiration to everyone who could relate to that type of friendship and relationship. Finally the ending the one on one scene truly defines what basketball basically is at the most intimate level which will forever be my favorite scene and That line from Q “All is fair in love and basketball” and that “double or nothing “ line was so smooth …glad y’all enjoyed it. x

Pillow Talk Reactions

I enjoy this movie everytime I see it. You said it...the characters are flawed but all have their fair points. Like normal life.

Alfre Woodard is an amazing actress, she is always so good. A film that she was in that I highly recommend you guys check out for the channel is Heart & Souls, it is so good and deserves so much more attention. Especially since it has a very great cast. You have Robert Downy Jr, Tom Sizemore (RIP!), Charles Grobin (RIP!) and Kyra Sidwick. RDJ and Alfre are amazing in it and really shine. I think you guys would really love it.

Mike Bridges

Great classic! I last saw this in the theaters in 2000. It was cool to watch it again with you guys. Sanaa and Omar are great actors. Sanaa was really good in “Something New “ you guys should add this one to your list. Great Reaction ✌🏽

I love the reaction!!!! Another movie that had Sanaa in it with great chemistry amongst the cast is The Best Man trilogy. It also includes Taye Diggs.

Keyuana Gray

One of my favorites, loved the reaction. Don't know if guys noticed but Sanaa Lathan who plays Monica was also at the end of The Wood. She played older Alicia where she and Omar Epps were reunited at the wedding.

This is one of those movies where the characters feel "real" like they actually exist somewhere. I love stories like that.

The worst black love story ever told. Beyond toxic. I hate that people actually had y'all watch this. Toxic masculinity and struggle love got my people in a chokehold smdh. Now Love Jones and Brown Sugar... yes! But this movie just annoys my whole soul.... Sigh. I'm still going to watch y'all react to it though lol

Love10 ❤️

Just like that their reacting to some of our classics not many people do. They did a great job reacting.

Lex

100%, when I watched this as a little kid in the early 2000s I thought Quincy was the villain of the story lol, so I was confused by the ending. Still watched the reaction as an adult, ya I see why it felt that way. Acting was on point though. Poor Kyra 🤣

Tanisha Jones

Coming here to echo and cosign what everyone else is saying. You guys have to watch Best Man and Best Man Holiday! Hopefully you guys can get to Best Man Holiday for Christmas time since it's a holiday film!
