Mission: Impossible 2, takes a different stylistic approach than the first film, this sequel delivers high-octane action and espionage on an international scale. The movie starts with a visually spectacular rock-climbing scene that immediately sets the tone for the intense stunts. Cruise's portrayal of Ethan Hunt remains a standout as he takes on a new adversary, played by Dougray Scott, who aims to unleash a deadly virus. Thandie Newton joins the cast as a skilled thief caught in the crossfire, adding complexity to the story.

The action sequences are on full display, featuring slow-motion gunfights, breathtaking motorcycle chases, and incredible hand-to-hand combat. These elements bring a distinct flavor to the franchise. While the plot isn't as intricate as the original, "Mission: Impossible 2" compensates with its memorable action set pieces. Hans Zimmer's score enhances the adrenaline-pumping moments, and the cinematography captures the grandeur of its international locations.

This film does take a different approach from the first film, but it stands as an action-packed and entertaining sequel that doesn't disappoint fans of the genre. Tom Cruise's charisma and the remarkable action scenes make it a worthy entry in the Mission: Impossible series. Looking forward to number 3!

It'll be interesting to rewatch these all in one go with you guys, and see how the stunts get bigger and the series evolves over time (instead of waiting a few years between each one 😁)

Eric Wallace

He did actually do the free climb scenes. I think the slide and catch was a studio piece but he literally hung from a cliff one handed, did the flip and grab, did the jump, and the knee hang.

John F.

This is my least favorite of the franchise, but it still has fun moments.

Also, in your introduction screen, the word watching is misspelled.

keise

for some reason the knife to eye was also real

Brendan Gleason was in Troy BUT he also played Mad-eye Moody in The HP movies. The actress Thandie Newton who plays Tom’s love interest is the mother of the young actress in The Last of Us who played the daughter Pedro Pasculle.

Alex Boatman

Yeah seeing a younger Thandiwe Newton, her daughter looks JUST like her it's almost scary. And yeah I was surprised they didn't recognize Mad-Eye Moody lol

Conor Moriarty

any update on a baddmedicine discord?

I love this movie. I know not many do but this was the first movie I ever saw of the series. I would rewatch it a ton too! I honestly didn't know about the first one so I would always rewatch from this movie onwards. And somehow I skipped MI3 for my rewatches (never saw it until a few years ago). So I would always go MI2, Ghost Protocol, and so on. 🤣😂 The only thing I hate looking back now, is the overuse of slow-mo, but that is one of the director's signature moves. It's very dated when you watch it now versus I think 2002 when it came out.

James Ventola

doing a first watch with you guys now! Good Tuesday evening activity

Nick Mitchell

Surprised Oak didn't detect that McCloy was Mad Eye Moody!
