EARLY ACCESS: Saltburn FULL REACTION (Patreon)

Lazy, sun-soaked days spent slightly inebriated by the pool seamlessly transition into evenings filled with elegant, booze-infused dinners. Barry Keoghan delivers a profoundly disquieting portrayal in the role of Oliver Quick, a scholarship student at Oxford University. Arriving as a freshman, he gradually assimilates into the popular clique over time.

Rosamund Pike has an uproarious performance as Elspeth, Felix's glamorous mother—a former model with a penchant for melodrama and casual cruelty. Richard E. Grant as Felix's father, Sir James. Alison Oliver embodies the chic yet tragic character of Venetia, Felix's sister, delivering a killer bathtub monologue in the third act that stands out as one of the film's highlights. Carey Mulligan has a supporting role as the family's houseguest, Pamela who is unaware of her overstayed welcome due to her narcissistic tendencies.

The cinematography in Saltburn is remarkable, featuring numerous unique shots and vibrant colors that showcase the skill of the cast and crew. However, despite the visual prowess, the story didn't resonate as strongly as anticipated, with certain parts of the film falling a bit flat. Although there are shocking scenes, their impact is hindered by the overall lack of resonance in the narrative. Nevertheless, if you haven't seen it, we would still recommend giving it a shot for a one-time viewing experience.
