Behind-the-Scenes Selfies from My First Photoshoot of 2023! (Patreon)

This may sound silly but only upon writing the title here did I actually realize that this was my first photoshoot of the new year! My good friend Lauren Miller of (the newly rebranded) LEM Photography came over on Saturday to experiment with her new camera body and lens. I actually got to experiment a little with my own stuff, too; unfortunately, her house's furnace gave out, so instead of shooting in the cold, we decided to squeeze into my little uncleaned studio space to play.
It's been a goal of mine to get my studio space to up to be an actual, ya know, studio, but it has turned into a long drawn out process that I am continuously putting off. It was good enough for a last minute session and I also got to break out my backdrop that I bought last year and never opened! I already learned a lot, such as paper backdrops don't really work well extended on carpet (shocker, somehow I didn't even consider that!). So, now I know I need to buy some vinyl flooring or something so I can extend the backdrop properly.
Studio is a newer world for me as a photographer; I've shot in studios myself quite a few times now, but figuring it all out alone in my limited small space has been a bit more challenging. Unlike my apartment, Lauren has a house with spacious hardwood flooring. Much better for art purposes and backdrop extension! Ah, well, I'm just happy to be learning.
Turns out she was gifted a Nikon D750 for Christmas. I'm so jealous! I've been doing photography for a few years now and still don't have a full frame camera. It isn't about the equipment I guess, but there are a lot of perks to having a truly professional camera.
One day. I have so many goals and dreams. So many of them require money. So much money. Something most of us have very little of right now. But I'm keeping my head up and my dreams high. Hope you are too!
So, for now, enjoy these selfies I took at the end of the shoot, just to play around. Full sets will be posted soon!
P.S. that red top and leopard tights are from Target. I'm pretty impressed by their clothing selection!
