Fiirrrssttt photoshoot of 2023~!

I didn't even think of it during the shoot. Not a bad way to start off the creative year! Plus, it really got me thinking about how I can really utilize my studio space this year. I realized that extending a backdrop on soft apartment carpet is a bad idea, and I've arranged to get a large vinyl mat that looks like wooden flooring; a local photographer asked if I'd be willing to trade my modeling services in exchange for the piece and I agreed. Maybe if I actually get out of this little outdated building, I could rent a decent house with nice wooden floors. But, just in case, I think it's a good prop to have around. I'm really grateful for how much of my equipment was gifted or traded to me. Though, I guess if I was booked out as much as some folks, I could have easily bought it all, but I didn't really get to work much while in college. And we all know what happened to the world as soon as I graduated. Sigh.

Anyway, yeah! New things, new goals, new hopes and dreams, yada yada. This set was really cool because Lauren and I were discussing utilizing more in-camera effects, like shooting through different textures and prisms. I didn't have much lying around, but I did have a rounded glass in my kitchen that seemed... interesting. I'm in love with the results. I never thought to use my glass cups before, but it turned out pretty neat! I really hope to experiment more with this type of thing in my own photography work this year. I'd like to invest in a few prism gems, some neat prism filters, light flare filters, et cetera. These kind of remind me of the effect a LensBaby produces.

Cool, huh?

Shout out to the red silky bra and leopard tights from Target (think I said that in the previous BTS post, but whatever).
