The backstory to a lot of the studio jokes is Reynolds is actually a fan of Deadpool, and signed on to the Wolverine Origins movie to play him, but the character was so changed he made it a passion project to get a comic-accurate Deadpool movie made. That's how you get lines like Ajax threatening to sew Wade's mouth shut and he's like "I don't think that's a good idea" Fox wasn't sold on a full R-rated version and backed away when they couldn't make a PG-13 version work, so Reynolds leaked the test footage online; the fan support response pushed Fox to greenlight the film but with almost no budget.
