Oh my god!!!! The Entwistle family motto is "Per ce signs a Agincourt"! It means Through this sign we have Agincourt. So cool

I was confused when you guys started talking about "soccer tort." Then I went "Aaaah, SACHERTORTE!! Okay." lol

Don't worry Eli, almond milk is very period-appropriate. :) Also, I can answer most of their questions regarding medieval weaponry and tactics. That made it even more enjoyable. :)

Je ne comprends toujours pas pourquoi Noah n'aime pas les français...

English longbowmen may not have been noble but they were f*cking awesome. The draw on a longbow was something like 180lb and the constant practice they did to be able to loose arrows rapidly turned them into barrel chested motherf*ckers. I read somewhere that the ancient law requiring every Englishman to attend archery practice every Sunday has never been repealed, though this may be an internetism. Mariusz might know. Anyway I just wanted to tell you that there's a street in my town called "The Butts". In Henry's time it would have been the place outside of town where the archery butts were, so the men could comply with the law of the land of Sundays. I'm just glad I don't live on it because nominative determinism. Shut up, it's not *that* big :)

Feel like you spent too much time hazzeling Cecil and not enough time joking about the subject. The Kellogg's, and Brazilian radiation episodes are examples of great episodes.

Just something you might be interested in -- I study bioarchaeology, and there's this disorder called Os Acromiale which is where the acromion process of the scapula (the bony protrusion of your shoulder blade that sticks out toward your arm) doesn't fuse properly to the scapula. This condition is relatively rare in modern times, but is commonplace during the reign of the longbowmen, due to those heavy draws on the longbow.

Karl, thank you for that! I wanted to mention physical deformities which occurred as a result of longbow training but knew I was stepping a little beyond my knowledge. Really appreciate your info.

There's a folk-etymology of the British "V-sign" gesture related to Agincourt. It is said that the French threatened to cut off the fingers of any archers captured, so waving those two fingers in a V at them to taunt them became widespread. Over time the gesture has become a general "fuck you". ( This applies to the hand held palm inwards. Palm out is Victory V or Peace - nice that pacifists and militant Antifa share a thing :) )

So this is a safe space to admit that when I saw the title of this episode that (I wish I was joking) I jumped & yelped with joy? Probably not. I get that I'm an insufferable nerd but I'm not, nor will I ever be, as bad as Cecil....... I hope.
