I remember American Black Twitter hating the latest movie with a passion. The (British Nigerian) star had a history of mocking African American culture and also wouldn’t clarify if she was descended from Diala Igbo, a tribe that owned and sold slaves. Also the nemesis was a fictional black slave catcher, named Bigger Long, and the white slave owner had a redemption arc. All in all, I suspect the sketch with Harriet and her first husband was more accurate.
