I think that depends on your interpretation of the word “near.” Gun Barrel City is approximately 100 miles to the east of White Settlement. Given the total land area of Texas, I suppose those towns might appear to be “near” each other, but it’s not quite true from a personal perspective. It’s not like a twice daily commute between the two would be very practical, considering a commuter would have to traverse the highly trafficked metro cities of Fort Worth, Arlington (or the MidCities), and Dallas, as well as go through at least five counties to get to and from, several of them rural. And if anyone knows anything about long commutes and rural counties in Texas, they know that long commutes typically involve speeding, and rural counties are notorious for redneck cops and speed traps. I’ve lived in Texas all my life, in the metro DFW area, and there’s NO way in hell that I’d ever sign up for such a commute!

As a 51 year old born and raised Texan, I would just like to extend my most sincere appreciation and gratitude to you guys! I absolutely LOVE it so much when y’all rag on Texas! It’s such a deplorable state! I do hope you won’t mind if I give one small critique, though? PLEASE DO IT MORE OFTEN! And do not hold back in ANY way! Be much more SCATHING in your commentaries about Texas, if you don’t mind?!! Texas would actually be wonderful … if not for it’s regressive political, financially irresponsible, and deplorable social diseases!
