Yeah, the background to MMM needs to be understood.. I still ♥️ that album, and find it easy to scream along to..

outaspaceman

Hear also Half Man Half Biscuit’s, “We Built This Village on a Trad Arr Tune”..

Oboewan

Fun Fact: Twerking began during the early 90s in New Orleans while the Bounce movement was starting.

BT Dubs

White Lines was the shit. They had absolutely no business covering Public Enemy, though.

Bobby Tropicana

Every album released by U2 after the 90s.

CarrieBoo

I had forgotten all about Kevin Federline's attempt to music

Elvis Manson

the wiki article has given me a trove of wondrous listening over the years.

outaspaceman

Songs in the Key of Z..!!! 😃👍 I can’t see Wildman Fisher or Beefheart in the list, but the Shaggs and Mr. Reed’s MMM is a good start..

Miles G

Whoever put Don't Worry Be Happy and We Built this City on the list needs to take a COVID test, because they clearly have no taste

outaspaceman

Oh, and Florence Foster Jenkins, The Spacelady, Jandek, Daniel Johnston..

Bowl of Piss Water

Hey! We were pretty close together during the heat dome. It was the worst.

outaspaceman

REGINALD BOSANQUET..!! (Bo-Zen-Gay) I got autograph, in London’s Kings Rd, 1979.. I lost it somewhere..

Perniciousducks

A thing is popular and I heard it so many times I now hate it is a really bad reason to call something bad... I think that makes up about half this list.

Londyn

Legendary stardust cowboy has 100% made my day

Perniciousducks

well, here is a rabbit hole I won't escape from for days... thanks for this (said with both love and malice)

Cory Schoelzel

I can't wait to watch Eli's descent into madness when his adorable lil guy becomes a 3yr old titan terrorizing every aspect of his life hehehe.

Ilan Woll

How did My United States of Whatever or Valley Girl not make the list

Ilan Woll

Agreed. We built this City is quisntessential 80s in a good way, and Don’t worry isn’t great, but I can think of far worse songs

Matthew Maxon

Great episode. This is why i don't listen to american produced music anymore. There are awesome bands not in the US that are writting their own music that's good. Japan is where its at right now.

Mark Siefert

Heard “Paralyzed” more than a few times on Dr. Demento.

Mike Dotson

As a Lou Reed fan, I still can't defend Lulu or Metal Machine Music. I at least know why he made MMM; he was pissed at the record label for some reason. IMO, Coney Island Baby made up for it, but that's just my take on it.

Jessica P

I’m sorry, Noah, but “Mary Had A Little Lamb” was not the first thing ever recorded on audio. That’s (probably) “Au Claire de la Lune” in 1859/1860 on the phonautograph. Edit: Also Aqua were the interval act for Eurovision 2001 and it’s…an experience. 2001 is also generally considered a “meh at best” year by the Eurovision fandom. Coincidence?

Marcus

Episode and notes aren’t out on citationpod yet…

Moritz Poldrack

Excuse me, but I just listened to the legendary stardust cowboy and have to say: it's a masterpiece. At no time before have I heard a drummer – whose vocal cords were replaced with a trumpet – fall down the stairs with his instruments while being accompanied by what must be the most sublime lyrics in music history. You were most certainly wrong about this masterpiece of music.

Dylan Gott

Alice Cooper and the Bee Gees. I cannot unhear that. That absolutely was an appropriate addition to this list.

Nuclear Cat

I bought Duran Duran’s Thank You album. Favorite track was White Lines. Then again I have notoriously dreadful musical tastes. Mid 1980s Gary Numan anyone? 😂

Niamh Coghlan

"You know the name is super-Irish because it looks like it was ripped from a 14th century poem" I feel attacked 😉 😉

Dylan Gott

That song had me crying I was laughing so hard.

Dylan Gott

Just kidding, Legendary Stardust Cowboy takes the cake. LOL!

Michelle C

Everyone’s talking about the music and I’m just over here smiling about the Code Duello episode reference.

Lemon Stealing Horse

Also. Kids music is a great way to teach or just entertain toddlers. You can get a good 15 minutes of laughter of Head, shoulders, knees and toes.

Sami Marie

I'm disappointed nobody mentioned What the Fox Say

Gina Va

Are we intentionally not talking about Eli saying "alblum?"

William Evan Barnes

Ok, but Eli was entirely correct at the beginning. I lived with a white guy Reggae band for 2 years, and that is, in fact, the worst music

beelzebubs_favorite_heathen

Sorry but B# 100% exist in music (C# major/Am key). It's is pretty much a double negative but it's used a lot e.g. if you want to go back and forth between C# and C it makes reading easier (or at least simpler)

outaspaceman

LSDCB’s “Standing in a Trash Can thinking about you..” is a vastly under rated gem…

THE Mike Miller

So many moments in this episode had me in stitches, but none more than the quote "it should be against the law to be Fred Durst"

Chris K

Lord Sutch would be Screaming Lord Sutch, who founded the Monster Raving Loony Party, a grand new addition to the UK political scene. His cultural métier turned out not to be music.

Adam Ronhovde

I still can't believe any of these guys like that fucking 4 no blondes song. It's so bad
