During the 80’s, the threat of being eliminated at any moment was the reason I spent most of it stoned, drunk, and/or both.. but the party never happened..

Tom, you missed one of the "better" parts of the North Carolina incident: one of the warheads was never recovered-- as far as I know. This happened just outside my hometown, and if the bombs had detonated, I wouldn't be here. The crash site is in the middle of a field and a bunch of trees are just allowed to grow there, now. From what I recall, the military decided it was more dangerous to try and dig the bomb out than to just let it stay in the ground. Edit: so according to this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1961_Goldsboro_B-52_crash part of the bomb was recovered, but the really bad shit was left behind.

I now feel morally obligated to re-listen to Aug 28, 2018 Gam August Bonus: Broken Arrow to get my much needed Travolta accent fix.

I was like, there is no way they’re not gonna do Earth Wind and Fire for the puns at the end! But yours were better

Lived this, served through the 80s. You don’t know the half of it… the cognitive dissonance was very very real. Still is. At least I knew at the time our job was to NOT go to war w USSR. Insanity barely begins to scratch the surface.

So we can expect a follow up on this in two years, eh? I mean, if we're all still here of course. >_>
