I need for an episode just doing failed Nintendo peripherals, holy shit. Oh wait shit, Vulgarity for Charity time! $50 for Noah to trash talk the Virtual Boy!

Ilan Woll

I had no idea AYDS had lasted that far back. I thought it was a late 1970s/early 80s thing

For sure. And we didn't even get most of them. Nowadays, peripherals are pretty rare (what was the last one you bought? The plastic guitar for Rockband/Guitar Hero? Maybe a VR helmet if you have a bit more cash) But back during the early console years, there were tons. Game consoles were treated like computers, with attachments being released for every little thing. We got stuff like the ROB (which was bundled with the NES here in the west originally) light gun and power glove, but Japan had the Famicom Disk System. It was an ok hit but I think one of the reasons why Mario games are far more popular in Japan than Zelda is (whereas the opposite is kind of true in the west) is because Zelda was a Disk System game in Japan. It was on a cartridge for us but Japan never got that version. Same goes for Metroid. Thinking about the light gun and power glove makes me think that the Nintendo Wii might not have been the huge revolution that we imagined. Essentially just an upgrade of tech we already saw as children.

I am 100% positive that Eli could convince Elon Musk to roll out a "new product" that is just the Twitter Peek One tweet about making a dedicated device to capitilize on the demand for a free speech platform & Elon is hooked

The quote about the executive at AYDS saying the disease should change its name, was a clue on Jeopardy in the late 80s.

Any episode with an epic Cecil rant is automatically at the top of my list of favorites. This one is almost as good as his DARPA episode rant.
