Yaaaaasss! I live for the radioactive and nuclear disaster episodes. Gimme that sweet sweet precipice of doom. Tom, Jolt was not delicious. It tasted like cardboard and was only good for the potentially deadly caffeine OD. And yes. Zelda references ❤

Can’t beat the classics of nuke FU’s 😃👍

I heard the discussion in the ep about how he afforded all this material, I remember from the book about this I read a long time ago that he uh, had slippery fingers for a lot of this stuff

Yesssss! David Hahn is one of my favorite stories! And yes, he stole a lot of stuff. And my favorite thing about him is that his spelling was so bad that when the EPA came to cart away his lab, they found a handmade sign that said CAUSHON. Because that makes his correspondence with the nuclear regulatory commission 100 times funnier.

This is not the greatest song in the world; this is just a patron name.

It was weird he went for cobalt and/or tritium as moderator materials. Most reactors use graphite - which, 1, isn't hard to get (though it's usually contaminated with boron), and 2, is just carbon, so the "backyard engineering" version would be charcoal briquettes (which, ironically, isn't).

I was very disappointed in this episode, specifically Heath's quiz question. You left out several significant musicians: Joy Difission U[O]2 The Breeders Reactor The Manhattan Transfer Project SuperfundTramp Atom Ant The Protonclaimers Alice in Chain Reactions Control Rod Stewart Electron Light Orchestra Lead Zeppelin RadioactiveHead Dance Hall Colliders Blink-238 The Atom Smashing Pumpkins Olivia Neutron Bomb
