2023 Summary

The 10th year of my artwork being created by myself! It's been a decade 🎉

I joined FA as Koorivlf on Dec 7th, 2013. My first drawing on the tablet was "Dark of Night" on Dec 29th, 2013. My first summary was for the year 2014. Meaning said  year was the first full annual summary after I got a wacom tablet for  Christmas. Marking this summary as the Decade line for when younger koor  drew.

You may know where this is going. Have I been drawing for 10 years or 9  years? Does the start matter or does the end matter. I think both do! I  have 10 summaries so this will be 10th summary of course, but the 11th  summary is the 2014 and 2024 match up for comparison. Just wanted to get  that out of the way because

I didn't draw that much this year lol. There's improvement in the pieces  I drew (one is litterally a remake of an old piece), but it wasn't my  best year for drawing. It was a better year for something else, a life.

Of course I've had a life throughout the decade, but some personal stuff  happened that I think is a very meaningful step in life. Some good some  bad. Moving to California and another event I'm not gonna mention  publicly were the two biggest changes. This made me way behind in doing  the work I need to get done ngl but again, overall I think it's for the  best.

I believe humans live in the present with the ability to imagine a past  & future. Making us feel like we're connected to non-present beings.  Another way to rephrase this is that the young koor died long ago. The  echos of their actions are what live in the current koor writing this.  And that's cool. To be able to look back to see where a present me  stands and why.

I've been able to meet amazing people, go to fantastic places, be happy  with myself, and more via this fandom. To experience what I wouldn't  have even thought about doing. I glad a depressed teen googled random  topics. I'm glad a stressed college student desired to draw. I'm glad  that even if the journey wasn't easy or without faults, I still traveled  along it. I have a few destinations I want to arrive at and I'd like to  do that by actually living with the tools I've gained over these  decades.

Estoy estudiando español porque quiero hablar con la familia y los  amigos de mi pareja. También vivo aquí en SF ahora. Entiendo algo de  español pero hablo muy mal jajaja. Estoy muy contento porque pensé que  mi dyslexia lo haría más difícil.

Japanese for me is very easy to learn, takes time of course but I don't  struggle like I did with English. It's the language I thought I'd master  first. Spanish is much closer to english and some of the problems of  dyslexia creep their way back in. But as you can see I still have  learned. That feeling of worry is still there, I still know I have to  work harder to get to the minimum. But I have a lot better tools and  resources for me to actually master Spanish first. And I feel like  that's really the best way to explain my annual analysis of my art for  2023.

I did good cause I have the tools I need. I'm not 100% there but if I  treat this year as bad then I'm discounting how much it took to be able  to do what I've done.

I want to paint more, do more backgrounds, more 3D works, etc. We're  gonna see how that goes. See how my decade matches with the previous,  but more importantly, be able to live a life for the now and the future.
